Matteo Salvini has scored another victory after parliament passed a security bill which threatens the captains of migrant rescue vessels with fines of up to €1 million if they enter Italy’s ports without permission.
The passing of the bill further bolsters the strong position of the deputy prime minister, who has made combating migration from North Africa one of his main priorities since coming to power last summer.
The security measure means that the skippers of NGO vessels who rescue asylum seekers in the Mediterranean and try to bring them to an Italian port will face fines of up to €1 million.
They will be arrested and their vessels impounded.

8. Schoolgirls Asked to Don Islamic Headscarf For ‘Hijab Day’ in November
Non-Muslim schoolgirls in Lincolnshire, England, are being asked to don the Islamic hijab headscarf for a day in November.
Ghada Mohamed of the Lincoln Muslim Sisters Forum is organising the event, which she hopes will be taken up by high schools all around the country, to increase non-Muslim girls “knowledge” of the religious garments and decrease alleged incidents of abuse against hijabi girls.
The BBC reported that one Muslim girl told them that “the hijab was part of her identity, but wearing it sometimes made her feel like she was not part of the community”, and that she supported Mrs Mohamamed’s initiative.
The idea that Muslim girls might try not wearing the hijab to feel more like “part of the community” was not raised in the BBC report, although it was broached on social media by talkRadio host Julia Hartley-Brewer.
(It is fully enraging that muslims in the West are not being asked to remove their hijabs in solidarity with the women being jailed for 10 and 15 years in a brutal prison in Iran where they actually imply, state rapists as part of the punishment. Where women are being murdered in Afghanistan and elsewhere in the Islamic world, even Canada and the USA for not wearing a hijab. It is so offensive that we are not asking for solidarity from muslims who seek asylum in the West against these horrors, that when they ask us to wear one with them, it causes cognitive dissonance.)

I hope most of you watched the hilarious clips of leftist eating each other over micro aggressions, use of “gendered terms” and so on. If not have a look. It is item 7 in this post.
But interesting in another way, was the appearance of Sarsour as a celebrity speaker at the DSA annual meet up. There is a lot to notice in this. First of all, she is reasonable. Which means she is anti-communist. She asks for direct and rational action and for all the people to drop their leftist nonsense and fight the state.
What we might gather from this is that she is not at all a communist in any way. Her statement that she is a “card carrying member of the DSA” could be an indicator of her recognition that muslims and leftists together may be able to topple the USA. But ideologically, its hard to tell what she is.
Also notice that at the beginning of her speech, the crowd uses the leftist, “jazz hands” way of approving of what is heard instead of applause and so on. This is a genuine manifestation of contemporary socialism for a few reasons. Allegedly to not trigger anxiety in those who might have some sort of applause based PTSD or something.
But notice how at the end, she whips the crowd into a frenzy with her reason based demands to action and they all stand, clap and shout. So much for jazz hands.

An independent adviser has been appointed to provide expert advice on a definition of Islamophobia to the government.
An independent adviser has today (23 July 2019) been appointed to provide expert advice on a definition of Islamophobia to the government.
Imam Qari Asim MBE, Deputy Chair of the Anti-Muslim Hatred Working Group will lead a process for establishing a definition of Islamophobia. He will be joined by a second adviser to be confirmed in due course.
This new work will build on the definitions of Islamophobia currently being considered, including the APPG definition. It will also draw on a wide range of opinions and work in close collaboration with the cross-government Anti-Muslim Hatred Working Group, to ensure that it commands broad support within Muslim communities and wider society.

An imam recruited to advise the Government on ‘tackling Islamophobia’ has publicly supported a cleric in Pakistan who has campaigned for a Christian woman to be hanged for blasphemy.
Qari Asim, who is part of an 11-strong panel assembled by the Communities Department, supported preacher Khadim Rizvi, who demanded the death penalty for Asia Bibi, who was falsely accused of insulting the Prophet Muhammad.
She spent nine years on death row until she was acquitted in October.
Mr Asim’s past emerged as part of a Mail on Sunday investigation into the Working Group on Anti-Muslim Hatred, which advises Ministers and senior civil servants on measures to combat anti-Muslim bigotry and hate crimes.

A 23-year-old man has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder after the bodies of three women and one man were found in a home in Markham, Ont., York Regional Police say.
Menhaz Zaman, who is from Markham, is in custody and appeared in a Newmarket courtroom on Monday. He was remanded into custody and is expected to reappear in court via video link on Aug. 2.
Zaman, wearing glasses and a black T-shirt, was brought handcuffed into the prisoner’s box. He gave his name in a soft voice.
A recent Indian government report shows that none of the 216 births recorded in 132 villages from a northern Indian district are girls, leading local officials to suspect female foeticide.
Furthermore, 16 of those villages have not recorded a single female birth since the beginning of the year, according to the district’s magistrate Ashish Chauhan.
Officials in the district of Uttarkashi, Uttarkhand state have marked 82 villages as “red zones” to closely investigate local data and have asked local health workers to stay on alert.
Female foeticide has been banned in India since 1994, but still continues in areas where communities place a higher value on boys than girls.
