LBCI: Preliminary information from security sources “speak of 2700 tons of seized ammonium in Beirut Port exploded in course of welding small opening to prevent theft.”
Earlier reports indicated the 2700 tons of ammonium nitrate were seized in 2013 aboard Moldovan ship heading to Africa. Stored in Beirut Port after seizure. Sparks from welding ignited fireworks, which then ignited the ammonium.

Apparently, a city bus with a huge and full fuel tank on its roof, drove into a low tunnel.
The police say that the bus was empty and that it was not a bomb nor a terror attack.

Transformer fire at plant, Con Ed, Queens NYC
A giant plume of smoke colored by bright blue light exploded into the night sky on Thursday night in Queens, causing people across New York City to gawk in awe as the authorities scrambled to figure out the cause.
The bizarre sight set off a frenzy on social media, where people reported power failures at La Guardia Airport. A spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration said that a ground stop was ordered there around 9:30 p.m. because of the power failure, but was lifted after about 45 minutes; the airport then resumed its operations, he said.

An explosion at a triple-decker home in East Boston early Sunday morning left a man with second-degree burns in critical condition, police said.
The man is considered a person of interest in the incident and is in critical, but stable condition, according to Boston police.
Commissioner William Evans said police found weapons inside the second floor of the 88 Webster St. home, where they responded at about 12:40 a.m. The blast created a hole in the floor and the walls have been blown out.

Authorities are on the scene of what appears to be a house explosion in Mississauga.
Peel Police said they received the call to attend the scene on Hickory Drive in the area of Rathburn Road East and Dixie Road at 4:22 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon following multiple reports of a loud bang being heard and a plume of smoke rising from the street.
It’s thought as many as 6 houses have been destroyed or partially destroyed police have now set up a large perimeter in the area.
Fire and ambulance services are also on scene, with paramedics tweeting that a triage centre has been set up in the area.
