Fifth arrest in ‘Muslim patrol’ investigation as police continue to appeal for victim

Police investigating self-styled “Muslim patrols” have made a fifth arrest today.

 

A 17-year-old man was arrested in Walthamstow in connection with a string of incidents in east London over the weekend of January 12 and 13 where the group harassed members of the public.

A video posted on YouTube showed the gang hurling homophobic abuse at one man, who the police have urged to come forward.

In a second video, also posted online, men tell another man in Fieldgate Street, Whitechapel “no drink in this area, it’s a Muslim area” before ordering him to pour away his alcohol.

The latest arrest is the fifth to be made in connection with the case.

Two men have been arrested by police investigating reports a gang claiming to be Islamic vigilantes have been confronting people in the street demanding they throw away alcohol and cover their bare skin.

In one video, posted online, men from the self-styled Muslim patrol in Whitechapel, east London, tell another man “no drink in this area, it’s a Muslim area” before ordering him to pour away his alcohol.

It has been reported that another video shows the group shouting homophobic abuse at a man and tell him “get out of here you fag… don’t stay around here any more”.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Officers investigating a series of incidents that took place over the course of the weekend of 12/13 January in east London, whereby a small group of individuals were seen to approach and harass members of the public at various locations, have arrested two men.

“Videos of the incidents were uploaded onto YouTube.”

A 22-year-old man was arrested in Acton, west London on Sunday, and a 19-year-old man was arrested on Monday after going to an east London police station.

The Sultan of the Malaysian state Selangor has issued a decree that the sacred word ‘Allah’ can be used only by Muslims. The move put more fire into controversy in the state where language peculiarities also make Christians use the term.

­“Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah made a decision and decreed that the word ‘Allah’ is a sacred word specific to Muslims and it is prohibited to be used by any non-Muslim in Selangor,” the Islamic Affairs Council of the Selangor state said Tuesday. The body added “a stern action” was ordered against those questioning the new fatwa, but did not elaborate.

The sultan, mufti and council convened after the chief minister of another state, Penang, urged the central government to allow the word ‘Allah’ to be used in the Malay translation of the Bible, national daily The Star Online reported.

CAIRO (AFP) – Egypt’s opposition cried fraud in Saturday’s first round of a divisive referendum on a new constitution, accusing President Mohamed Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood of rigging votes to adopt the Islamist-backed text.

But the National Salvation Front opposition coalition did not immediately make good on a threat to call a boycott if it perceived violations, instead stepping up an appeal to Egypt’s 51 million voters to reject the draft charter.

The Front’s allegations, which included unsealed ballot envelopes and a judge preventing Christians from voting at one Cairo polling station, underlined the highly charged conditions in which the two-stage referendum was taking place.

Three weeks of anti-Morsi protests and clashes in Cairo last week that killed eight people and injured hundreds failed to prevent the referendum going ahead on the draft, largely shaped by Morsi’s Islamist allies.

To ensure security, some 120,000 troops were reinforcing 130,000 police.

Voting was being staggered across the country on Saturday and a week later because many judges were not willing to oversee polling.

Kuwait introduces death penalty for ‘cursing God and prophets’

Kuwaiti MPs this week approved a law with a death penalty for Muslims who curse God, the Koran, all prophets and the wives of Islam’s Prophet Mohammed. Non-Muslims who commit the same offence face a jail term of not less than 10 years, according to the bill.

Defendants who repent in court will be spared capital punishment but will get a jail sentence for five years and a fine of $36,000 or one of them, while repentance by those who repeat the crime is not acceptable, the bill says.

“We do not want to execute people with opinions or thought because Islam respects these people… But we need this legislation because incidents of cursing God have increased. We need to deter them,”

It is often said that a half truth is the damnedest of lies. This example is a rather excellent one. Much of what he says of course are lies. But on where he is truthful, we should take heed. It will come to blood as it does everywhere Islam feels emboldened enough to force its totalitarian and barbaric, irrational sharia on the rest of the population. Those people need to be aware, and be prepared.

Mohabat News — Sexual and social discrimination against Iranian women took a new turn recently when parliament’s National Security Committee introduced a bill obliging every unmarried woman under 40 to obtain her father’s consent when applying for a passport, Shahrzad News reported.

Muslim Egyptian Woman Cut Hair of Christian Schoolgirl in Subway

(AINA) — 13-year-old Coptic girl Maggie Milad Fazez filed a police complaint in Zaytoun, a suburb of Cairo, against a veiled woman who secretly cut her hair during their journey on the subway. The child said that as she entered the crowded train car she inadvertently pushed the veiled woman to go inside, which led to a verbal exchange between them. The veiled woman told Maggie, who has long hair, “You don’t know what I will do to you.”

In response to religious prohibitions of certain communities, among which the moslems, centres de la petite enfance [small-children centres] serve halal or vegetarian meals to all children.

The presence of numerous immigrants in certain quarters of Montreal has incited kindergarden services to take this option.

At the pavillon Henri-Bourassa of the CPE Ste-Gertrude, north Montreal, one in two children belongs to the moslem faith. The administrative council has adopted directives with regard to nutrition.

‘Unless there is a religious prohibition, the CPE can offer to all children halal or kosher food’, we can read in the internal guideline document, adopted last spring.

According to the cases, all children eat a halal meal, explains Jean-Claude Lavergne, CPE directeur general [there’s also a directrice, further down], reminding that catholics, for their part, do not have any prohibitions. They can eat halal as well as kosher meals.

The basic idea behind this directive is integration, explains M Lavergne. ‘We cannot put any community member into a ghetto. We cannot invite them to make themselves distinct kindergardens. Egypt veiled women cut off “infidel” Christian’s hair, throw her out of metro

CAIRO: A Christian woman reported that she had her hair cut off by two veiled women inside the Egypt’s capital city Cairo’s metro and thrown out of the car while being called an “infidel.”

Copts United, which reported the incident on its website, said the unnamed woman also suffered a broken arm from being thrown from the car.

The Coptic Christian advocacy group said this was the third such incident on the metro in the past 10 days and nearly at the same location.

Naguib Gebrael, the head of the Egyptian Federation for Human Rights, reportedly called the ministry of interior to “find a way to arrest those veiled women who belong to the Organization of the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice,” an underground movement that is not officially sanctioned or supported by the government.

This is not the first such hair-cutting occurrence in the country over the past few weeks.

Earlier this month, an Egyptian court in southern Egypt handed out a 6-month suspended sentence in a child abuse case that had sparked outrage among liberals and supporters of freedom of religion.

The teacher, Eman Abu Bakr, was convicted of child abuse after she cut off the hair of two schoolgirls who did not wear a traditional higab, or headscarf.

Before attempting to commit suicide the Moroccan had traced with blood on the walls, inscriptions in Arabic that are barely legible. He has also left a paper. The investigators attempt to decipher and to translate the messages in hope of finding explanations to the double murder. According to the Corriere della Sera, Mustafà Hajjaji wanted to punish his wife perhaps because after stopping wearing the veil, she had decided to leave her husband.

 

 

Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood says new constitution must be based on Islamic Shariah law

CAIRO — Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood said Wednesday it is committed to enshrining Islamic Shariah law as the main source of a new constitution, seeking to mollify ultraconservative Islamists who accuse the group of not advocating strongly enough for Islamic rule.

Islamic influence in Egypt’s governance is the most inflammatory issue following last year’s ousting of longtime President Hosni Mubarak. Islamists have swept elections since then, and the Brotherhood’s Mohammed Morsi is the president — but the Brotherhood faces criticism from even more stringent Islamists as much as from liberals.

Muslim Sex Attacks Lead to Female Only Taxis in UK

There is of course no mention of the rash of sexual assaults by Muslim taxi drivers, but in the modern media reading between the lines has become an increasingly important skill.

Even in a licensed cab, there is often a niggle at the back of any female passenger’s mind: will I get home in one piece? While the vast majority of male taxi drivers are of course completely safe, many women simply feel less vulnerable with a female driver

To understand the rise of female cabbies and female taxi firms in the UK, one need only look at stories like these.

Zahoor Mahmood, aged 40, was described as a ‘sexual predator’ when he was jailed yesterday for sexually assaulting two women he picked up on nights out in Sheffield. The father-of-four, who worked for City Taxis, attacked both women within three weeks last summer.

Atiq Rehman, 20, spotted his 22-year-old victim leaving a club and tricked her into thinking he was a taxi driver. He then lured her into the back room of a corner shop and attacked her on a mattress for 45 minutes.
