Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani’s Lawyer Thrown into Prison in Iran
H/T Shabnam
From ACLJ.Org
The Iranian lawyer who successfully represented Christian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani in court, leading to his eventual release and acquittal of apostasy, has been detained and ordered to serve a lengthy prison sentence in one of Iran’s most dangerous prisons.
Mohammad Ali Dadkhah, who represented Pastor Youcef and other religious and political prisoners, had been previously convicted for representing people like Pastor Youcef. He was sentenced to serve 9 years in prison, barred for 10 years from practicing or teaching law, fined $1,900, and given a choice of either 5 lashes or an additional $450 fine. In recent months, however, Dadkhah had worked out an agreement that allowed him to continue representing Pastor Youcef and that prevented him from having to serve any time in prison.
CAIR-CAN PROPOSES ABOLISHING SECULAR STATE, SAYS SECULARISM JUST A COMPETING ‘BELIEF’
I have been live blogging the OSCE event taking place in Warsaw Poland, and the rep from CAIR affiliate in Canada just hurled a major bombshell at the meeting, From Europe News’s Facebook page:
5:28: CAIR Canada openly requests the abolishment of secularism as a principle of society, for the reason that ‘Secularism’ constitutes only another belief, that should not be granted special status.
Further, she emphasizes that we should obey and respect all law set up by the State (that would include blasphemy laws), and respect to refrain from what the State considers illegal, in order that we can have harmonic co-existence in the future.
She refers to the past history of various etnic minorities, how prejudices against those have historically existed, and suggests that the percieved problems with Muslims are nothing unusual, and should not be considered a problem in itself.

A recent Egyptian TV program showed how Islamic Sharia law’s many prescriptions do not merely clash with modern-day concepts like free speech and religious freedom, but even with medicine and science.

On September 16, popular TV persona Wael El-Ibrashi hosted Dr. Zaghlul al-Naggar, a prominent Islamic thinker and Chairman of Egypt’s Committee of Scientific Notions in the Quran, on the topic of medical science and Islam. Inevitably the idea of drinking camel urine as a form of therapy—first proposed in the 7th century by Muslim prophet Muhammad—came up.
Not only did Dr. Naggar promote this practice, but he made the staggering announcement that right now in Egypt a medical center in Marsa Matrouh actually specializes in treating people with camel urine, all in accord with the prophet’s advice.
Other Egyptian thinkers joined the show via satellite, including Khaled Montaser (who earlier exposed the Islamic world’s “inferiority complex“). At one point, while delineating how science and medicine work, Montaser reminded that urine is where all the body’s toxins are carried out, asking “so, shall we drink it for health?” Naggar simply responded with arrogance: “I am older than you and more learned than you: you are not going to teach me; I will teach generations of people like you.”
Open letter to the Government of France.
My dearest France.
Now that Charlie Hebdo, political satire magazine has decided to step up to the plate and defend the single most important freedom that any human being has ever had, the right, no actually the obligation to criticize irrational religious authority, you, the government of France has decided to close embassies and French institutions throughout the barbarian world.
I merely wanted to advise you of the following.
As it takes approximately four to six months for Muslims to organize a spontaneous demonstration of outrage so I suggest you do not spend the extra revenue for short term booking on aircraft but book well in advance. In fact, you could focus on mid December getting the remnants of your Western cultured staff (if there are any) home for Christmas.
There is a very good chance that the riots over this crop of cartoons won’t form till after that and possibly not even till early spring.
Alternatively you could of course, defend the right that gave rise to one of the most significant civilizations in history and its now defunct secular laws, ‘La laicite‘, or, you could pack up and head for home. In either case, do take your time. No point in rushing and dropping any dish-ware or furniture.
Just a thought. I hope it helps.

FRENCH POLICE GUARDING SATIRIST CHARLIE HEBDO BUILDING IN WAKE OF MOHAMED CARTOON RELEASE
Folks, there is no easy way out of this.
As long as it’s necessary for police to safeguard a building from being firebombed do to irate Muslims, then the mocking of their religious figures, as distasteful as it is, is paramount and needs to continue and be defended. No one group can be allowed to intimidate others through violence from expressing an opinion. You let it slip here, then free speech is doomed for good.

Riot police were guarding the offices of a satirical magazine in Paris last night as it prepared to publish cartoons mocking the Prophet Mohammed.
Charlie Hedbo’s HQ in the French capital was firebombed last year after it published an issue it claimed had been guest-edited by Mohammed.
Despite the attack, it has now decided to print further drawings, including one of the Prophet in a wheelchair being pushed by a Jewish Rabbi.

Ahmadinejad says enemies destroy Iran’s rain clouds: reports
Chicago Tribune:
DUBAI (Reuters) – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has accused his country’s enemies of enacting a sinister plan to create a drought by somehow destroying the rain clouds before they reach Iran, several Iranian websites reported on Tuesday.
Well-known for his anti-American and anti-Israeli rhetoric, Ahmadinejad has made similar remarks before and last year accused the West of devising a plot to cause drought in the Islamic republic.
Judge orders accused Fort Hood shooter to have his beard shaved
A voice of reason from within the wilderness. I wonder if it will be allowed to last

CNN:

- An appeals court previously said it would not rule until after the order was given
- Hasan had said, “I believe that my religion requires me to wear a beard”
- He is accused of killing 13 people and wounding 32 at Fort Hood
(CNN) — A judge has ordered that the beard of Maj. Nidal Hasan, the Army psychiatrist accused of fatally shooting 13 people at Fort Hood, be forcibly shaved ahead of his upcoming military trial, base spokesman Tyler Broadway said Thursday.
Col. Gregory Gross issued the order, which will likely trigger an appeal that would further delay a case that has dragged on since the 2009 mass shooting.
Hasan’s attorney had filed an appeal when Gross threatened to order the shaving, but the appeals court said it wouldn’t issue a decision until the shaving was actually ordered. Thursday’s order by Gross opens the door for that appeal.
The last time he was in court, Hasan told the judge, “Your honor, in the name of almighty Allah, I am a Muslim. I believe that my religion requires me to wear a beard.”
His defense team argued Hasan should be able to keep his beard under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, contending that shaving it would leave him in a “perilous religious state,” according to a news release from Fort Hood.
Grotesque bias and selective enforcement. Muslim? Its ok to want to murder gay people. If you own a chicken stand, you aren’t even allowed to support traditional marriage
This actually really pisses me off.

Saudi Arabia considers law against insulting Islam, including in social media
Ottawa Citizen.com
Saudi Arabia is studying new regulations to criminalise insulting Islam, including in social media, and the law could carry heavy penalties, a Saudi paper said on Sunday.
The potential regulations come five months after a Saudi blogger and columnist Hamza Kashgari, 23, was arrested for tweeting comments deemed as insulting the Prophet Mohammad. Kashgari said there were things he liked and disliked about him.
“Within the next two months the Shura Council will reveal the outcome of study on the regulations to combat the criticism of the basic tenets of Islamic sharia,” unnamed sources with knowledge of the matter told al-Watan, adding that there could be “severe punishments” for violators.
Criticism penalised under the law would include that of the Prophet, early Muslim figures and clerics, it said.

I would like to thank this guy. He may actually have put the last nail in the coffin of the oxymoron called, ‘multiculturalism’.
From the SUN:
And to confuse the issue, Raheel Reza, who’s proprietary version of Islam, while being a very good and desirable one, doesn’t seem to reflect Islamic action around the world or for that matter, Islamic scripture. As much as I personally like Ms. Reza, she is probably in serious danger from her fellow Muslims. Which makes her version of Islam likely the ‘radical’ one.
