American Chess Champion takes high road in Iran/hijab debate

Firstly, I would like to take a paragraph to congratulate a young feminist who actually teaches us what principles actually mean.

Here is a young woman, who has decided to skip an event that would have advanced her highly rarified career a great deal and is risking losing it all on a matter of principle. And in a manner which only hurts herself. This is the true definition of “martyr”, as opposed to the Islamic degradation and inversion of the term. She did this in a world where some people who even understand the issue of the danger of Islam in the world, won’t even skip a single meal at a halal restaurant because they like the Chicken there. This woman actually gave up a lot. So full kudos to you Ms. Paikidze. I bet there is a huge community out there willing to support you in various ways once they understand that you are ready to pay for your principled choices.

After all. If principles were cheap, we would all have them. Right?

The the reigning US Women’s Chess Champion has said she would rather sacrifice her career than submit to demands to wear a hijab at the next world championship.

Nazi Paikidze, one of the nation’s best-ranked players, swore to boycott the 2017 contest, which is being held in Iran and will have an enforced Islamic dress code.

Paikidze admitted that the decision will harm her career, but said that doing the bidding of an oppressive regime in order to compete is not a price worth paying.

Somehow muslims want, demand and much much more troublingly, receive special rights that place them above everyone else, and at our expense.

France: Restaurant owner refuses service to two Muslim women

When you watch this, try thinking about what would happen if a nice middle aged couple with Trump hats were refused service at some restaurant in LA. Because that would be exactly, and no more and no less, “racist” than what happened to these women.

Where it is different, is that these women are broadcasting abhorrent beliefs with their costumes to a people that have been significantly attacked many times in the past couple of years because of those exact beliefs. The same cannot be said of a middle aged couple in “Make America Great” hats.

The Daily Mail of course wrote it up like it was Kristallnacht.

Two women wearing headscarves were thrown out of a Paris restaurant after being threatened by its self-confessed racist owner who said ‘Terrorists are Muslims, and all Muslims are terrorists.’

The disturbing scenes at Le Cenacle follow a series of incidents in which grandmothers and mothers have been thrown off public beaches in France for wearing Islamic looking clothing.

Now a criminal enquiry has been launched into Saturday’s vicious attack at the restaurant in Tremblay-en-France, a north-east suburb of the French capital.

A debate is certainly needed on the extent to which a business owner has the right to choose who he will do business with. But that debate must not happen in the absence of a simultaneous and integrated debate on selective enforcement of the same laws.

There are countless examples of “Muslim only” rentals, apartment buildings and many other services across the Western world now. If you allow discrimination, which I think is as central to freedom as anything else, then you must allow it for all. A true free market will sort it out. But then again, the current crop of Western leaders seem determined to deconstruct every aspect of Western civilization in much the same way the Muslim Brotherhood stated it will.

Neuss: Savings Bank Throws Out Cloaked Woman

At the entrance door of the Neuss Savings Bank is a a clear indication of the ban on wearing face and body coverings within the premises. But since, as we know, our laws and regulations in most cases are diametrically opposed to those in the Koran, which is the only thing muslims will listen to and follow, our laws and regulations are routinely gladly ignored. And so, when a 20 year old orthodox muslim woman stepped foot into Savings Bank, completely ignoring the posted rules at the entrance, the employees at said bank understandably reacted sensitively and the burka clad woman was unceremoniously thrown out of the bank and escorted off the premise. Her owner husband did not take kindly to this.

The woman, according to statements from the financial institute, has been refused entrance before. But this time she did not want to leave, and instead offered to step into an adjoining room and take off her veil and show her ID. But the employees could simply not warm up to the idea to let a fully burka clad woman all the way through the bank and into the back to an available room, and they instead enforced the domiciliary rights of the bank. Stephan Meiser, spokesman of the Bank, explained: “Not one person has a good feeling about it, when there is an unidentifiable person lurking through hallways or to go into a room with that person. It’s the worst case scenario one could imagine: A criminal person going alone into a room with one of our employees, dropping the veil and pulling a gun.”

The Grevenbroicher Newspaper reports: ??The young woman said that an employee pushed her out of the bank because she was carrying a heavy shopping bag over her shoulder, she therefore incurred abrasions. The police arrived too late to try and mediate with the participants: The woman had already left. A little while later however she filed a complaint for assault. The Savings Bank denies the course of events.

The turkish born husband of the woman in any way is indignant and complains that his wife is still completely traumatized and that she now needs to see a psychologist, because she had been touched by a strange man.

The rules of the Koran are as a matter of fact traumatizing and whoever follows them verbatim, should go and see a psychologist indeed, best case scenario in a closed institution.

A Richmond Hill teacher has been fired following a 10-week investigation into “racist” comments critical of Islam that he allegedly posted online.

Michael Marshall was dismissed following a meeting of the York Region District School Board (YRDSB) on Tuesday, said board spokesperson Licinio Miguelo.

Miguelo said no one at the school or the board would be available to comment further.

Marshall could not be reached on Tuesday or Wednesday for comment.

A second Muslim woman is challenging a government policy that prohibits people from covering their faces while swearing the oath of citizenship.

In a complaint filed with the Canadian Human Rights Commission, Maiia Mykolayivna Zaafrane says she was discriminated against on the basis of religion when she was not allowed to participate in a citizenship ceremony because she refused to remove her niqab, a garment that covers her head and face, except her eyes.

The niqab ban became a major political flashpoint this year after another Muslim woman, Zunera Ishaq, challenged the policy in Federal Court. A judge ruled in February that the policy was unlawful because it violated federal regulations requiring citizenship judges to allow would-be citizens the “greatest possible freedom in the religious solemnization or the solemn affirmation of the oath.”

Quebec Premier Couillard promises a plan of action and a law

The Quebec government will legislate on secularism by the summer to ban the wearing of the full Islamic veil for officials in contact with the population, as well as for citizens in public administration, an unprecedented measure in Canada.

The law on “state neutrality” should remind us of our “fundamental individual rights” that apply in this province, said Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard during a recent interview with AFP.

“It will be proposed that both the person providing a public service and receiving it must have their faces exposed for communication, safety and identification purposes.”

The Liberal leader, elected with a large majority last April, notes that this will apply to both public service and municipal government.

This enforcement action will prevent the wearing of the full veil (niqab or burqa) by employees or users of the administration.

“It’s the least the government could do. The expectation of citizens was high to ensure that the state decides on its relations with the religious,” considers Jocelyn Maclure, a philosophy professor at Laval University in Quebec City.

“It’s surprising that this has not yet been done.”

Quebec media avoids central issue in death of muslim woman on escalator in January 2014

Death at the Fabre Metro (Montreal): strangled by her clothing, concludes the coroner.

 
The dead woman from last January in an escalator at the Fabre metro station in Montreal had died strangled by her clothing, concludes the coroner in charge of the file.

In his report, Paul G. Dionne argues that the death of Naima Rharouity is “accidental” and that the woman’s scarf is probably the cause of the accident.

“The woman was strangled by the scarf and her scalp was lacerated by the combs of the escalator steps in motion, before the escalator was stopped,” one can read. However, the coroner does not specify in his report if it’s about an Islamic veil, as was implied by some media.

During a short interview with La Press, it was indicated that this detail was quite simply not in public interest. “It is not important, it is a scarf,” said Paul G. Dionne.

The coroner was also not able to determine with certainty if the woman fell before or after her clothing remained caught in the escalator.
“It is quite possible that the woman’s clothing was initially caught in the escalator, causing her fall and strangulation. (The woman measured 160 cm and her scarf 157 cm),” he writes.

The coroner recommends to the Société de transport de Montreal to “revise” and “adapt” its escalator maintenance program. He also asked the STM to ensure the implementation and application of this new program.
