Saudi king asks the UN to make it a crime to critisize Islam world wide.

King Abdullah approaching the United Nations with a demand to come up with an international law that would put all those who criticize Islam behind bars, has not gone down well with skeptics who have asked the Saudi ruler to introduce religious freedom in his own empire – a place where Wahabi Islam is banned. The UN, however, took notice of his appeal and had put up a committee who recently passed a resolution, observing that all acts of defaming a religion, especially Islam, would be considered criminal.

The General Assembly of the UN is expected to approve this resolution shortly, and then governments across the globe would be asked to amend the criminal codes to accommodate it. This, some say would challenge the very foundation of any democracy. What remains to be seen is that whether reference to the 9/11, the recent Mumbai terror attacks, suicide bombings, beheadings and other such acts would be considered as being hostile towards the community.

More UN absurdities. Jeff Jacoby Boston Globe

THE PRESIDENT of the UN General Assembly, Miguel d’Escoto Brockmann of Nicaragua, last week denounced the policies of a certain Middle Eastern nation. They are “so similar to the apartheid of an earlier era,” he said, “that the world must unite against them, demanding an “end to this massive abuse of human rights” and isolating the offending nation as it once isolated South Africa: with a punishing “campaign of boycott, divestment, and sanctions.”

Of which country was he speaking?

Was it Saudi Arabia, where public facilities are segregated by sex, and where a pervasive system of gender apartheid denies women the right to drive, to dress as they choose, to freely marry or divorce, to vote, to appear in public without a male “guardian,” or to give testimony on an equal basis with men?

Was it Jordan, where the law explicitly bars Jews from citizenship and where the sale of land to a Jew was for decades not only illegal, but punishable by death?

Was it Iran, where homosexuality is a capital crime – at least 200 Iranian gays were executed last year – and whose president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, asserted at Columbia University that there are no homosexuals in Iran?

Was it Sudan, where tens of thousands of black Africans in the country’s southern region, most of them Christians or animists, have been abducted and sold into slavery by Arab militias backed by the Islamist regime in Khartoum?

It was none of these. The General Assembly president, a radical Maryknoll priest who served as Nicaragua’s foreign minister during the Sandinista regime in the 1980s, was not referring to any of the Middle East’s Muslim autocracies and dictatorships, virtually all of which discriminate against ethnic and religious minorities. He was speaking of the Jewish state of Israel, the region’s lone democracy, and the only one that guarantees the legal equality of all its citizens – one-fifth of whom are Muslim and Christian Arabs.

D’Escoto’s call for Israel to be shunned as a pariah and strangled economically came on the UN’s Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, an annual occasion devoted to lamenting the rebirth of Jewish sovereignty in the 20th century, denouncing the national liberation movement – Zionism – that made that rebirth possible, and championing the cause of the Palestinian Arabs. The event occurs on or about Nov. 29, the anniversary of the UN vote in 1947 to partition Palestine into two states, one Jewish and one Arab. There are impassioned speeches, in which Israel’s sins are enumerated and condemned, and the statelessness of the Palestinians is bewailed. Unmentioned is the fact that Palestine’s Arabs would have had their state 60 years ago had they and the Arab League not rejected the UN’s decision and chosen instead to declare war on the new Jewish state.

Good article on the UN and the OIC who have destroyed it in spirit and deed.

Phyllis Chesler and others call for an end to support of the UN and the creation of the United Democratic States. An idea long overdue as the UN progresivly works more and more against its original mandate and objectives.

From Front Page Magazine

“In what one observer decried as “a very Orwellian moment,” the fight against radical Islam suffered a setback in the halls of the United Nations last Monday. Islamic countries won UN backing for an anti-blasphemy measure called “Combating Defamation of Religions,” which passed 85-50 with 42 abstentions in a meeting of the UN General Assembly’s Third Committee on November 23.”

The UN, created as a replacement for the defunct ‘League of Nations’ was intended to prevent anything like the Holocaust from occurring again. It clearly not only has failed to do so, (Rwanda is one of many genocides or attempted genocides since WW2) but is actively working on creating future ones in some ways. A google search for Durban conference I and II should provide ample evidence of that.

The Organization of Islamic Councils have pretty much turned all original UN purposes on their heads. When Yassir Arafat stormed the UN building with gunmen in the 1970s and was given an audience instead of promptly arrested we should have known then what was coming.

Kudos to Canada though for being the one nation with the moral fibre and courage to actually openly state it will not be attending Durban II. if a few more nations acted similarily we might be able to stop the tide of global Islamic fascism before it comes to open war. Like we see in India today and parts of Europe even if they don’t admit it yet.

Make no mistake. Islam and Islamic states fully intend to create a global Islamic caliphate and death is not merely the cost of doing so as they see it but a desirable fringe benefit. Anyone who has watched the events in Mombai the past two days and doesn’t get it yet may as well go join them. The time has come to line up and pick a side. Freedom, real rights for women minorities and alternative points of view, or Islam and it’s useful idiots the Western left.

Pot calls the kettle black. Iran calls Israel racist and xenophobic. Dhurban II

It’s extremely important that the rhetorical trick used by the Iranian delegate is exposed. Criticizing religion or any idea is not racism. The day religion cannot be criticized, ridiculed or dissected is the day the new dark age begins. Ideas are not nor must ever me above attack. This is not an attack against the people who hold these ideas even if they choose to pretend that it is.

In this next video, Iran demands that no security screening may discriminate on the basis of religion language or citizenship but then declares that sexual orientation is not to be considered an issue for ending discrimination.

A brilliant article on the mechanics of the UN rules against Islamaphobia

PLEASE take the 5 minutes required and read this rather excellent analysis and history of how it came to pass that the UN was used by the OIC to obliterate free speech and the means to criticize the abominable. It cannot be over emphasized how important this article is and the implications and consequences to how civilization’s future history will unfold. As it states at the end (plot spoiler) ideas must not be deemed exempt from criticism.

Jihad Against Free Speech

By Deborah Weiss
FrontPageMagazine.com | Thursday, November 06, 2008

The Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) is an Islamist supremacist organization. Composed of 57 member states with Muslim majority populations, the OIC is the largest Islamic body in the world. It is also the largest international organization of any kind, second only to the United Nations. It represents an estimated 1.5 billion Muslims across the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

The purpose of the OIC is to promote Islamic values, to revitalize Islam’s pioneering role in the world, to strengthen and enhance the bond of solidarity and unity among Muslim states, to support “the Palestinian struggle” and to defend Islam. Its charter claims that OIC works to promote peace, tolerance, and fight terrorism. However, its actions are dissonant with these claims, as it strives to define these words through the extraordinarily skewed views of radical Islam.

Since 1999, the OIC has been pushing incrementally and strategically toward its goal of internationally outlawing all criticism of Islam, Muslims, Muslim theocracies, and Islamic extremism. Subsequent to September 11, 2001, it professed concern about alleged backlash against Muslims.

In 2005, the OIC urged the United Nations Commission on Human Rights (“UNCHR”) to pass a resolution called “combating defamation of religions.” Although the title of the resolution referred to religions generally, the text cited concerns only Islam specifically. It lamented negativity towards Islam in the media and the use of broadcast, print and the internet to incite violence, discrimination or intolerance towards Islam and other religions. It revealed alarm over the backlash against Muslims since 9/11, and law enforcement measures that “target Muslims.” It expressed deep concern over statements which “attack” religions generally, and Islam and Muslims in particular, and concern over the ethnic and religious profiling of Muslim minorities. It alleged that Islam was frequently and wrongly associated with human rights violations and terrorism. Additionally, it proclaimed that defamation of religions plays a role in the denial of fundamental rights of the target groups.

Opinionator: On the attacks on an art gallery in the UK.

The Opinionator offers the article posted below with several links to events which have occurred in the UK. Many of these events where reported here on Vlad and elsewhere. Each as isolated incidents range from a minor ‘Hey Martha!’ to an ‘I can’t believe this is actually happening’ but taken together there is no excuse for not recognizing it for what it is. Policy.

The leftists and Islam operate on levels from tacit collusion to overt alliance to crush dissent, to end debate and to establish clear rules of what is permissible to say and by extension to think. It’s past the point where I worry about whether or not what I am saying is over the top or exaggerated. I’m no longer sure that it’s even possible to exaggerate the kinds of changes taking place in the western democracies when you hear the likely next president of the United States say publicly “five days from now we will fundamentally change America” and people do not find this a worrying statement.

As Australia enacts internet restrictions for ostensibly noble goals one should know that its inevitable that these restrictions will be applied to political thought and most likely disguised as restrictions on hate speech. The EU like the UN is frantically drafting legislation that will allow them to act against anyone who challenges their attempt at hegemony and again they will use the language of political correctness to make it appear benign while they strip away rights of protest and perhaps most importantly rights to individualism.

What does all this have to do with the article below?

Multiculturalism and the ‘new-speak’ concepts of tolerance and political correctness all have this as a lowest common denominator…

The most intolerant group sets the rules for the rest of us. This most intolerant group, is clearly Islam.

Durban 2 from Canada’s National Post

In an earlier post to Vlad I placed an article by a former CSIS man making the claim that the NDP party of Canada had been bought by Islamist forces for an Islamic agenda. I believe this National Post story may provide evidence for that claim. But perhaps more importantly, Durban II represents a more sinister agenda. Antisemitism is icing as far as most of the participants and organizers are concerned. The real issue would appear to be the criminalization of criticism if Islam.

In the thin disguise of tolerance and multiculturalism Durban and its prime advocates would like it to be a forum for legilsation world wide making it a crime to say or do anything offensive to Islam. While this may seem a far fetched and unlikely goal to most people insulated in the west a quick google search for UN or EU creates laws against Blasphemy of Islam’ may turn up some shocking results. Many examples are here on vladtepesblog.com as well.

For any of those who think this is a progressive policy, I would remind them that what Muslims tend to get offended by, is anything liberal, individualist, for equality of women and minorities, and anything standing in the way of a global Islamic hegemony marked by the forced application of Sharia law.

DURBAN 2: NEW SITE, SAME DEBACLE

Kevin Libin, National Post Published: Saturday, October 25, 2008

The first UN conference on racism-- held in August, 2001, in Durban, South Africa, attracted anti-Israel demonstrators.Mike Hutchings, Reuters File PhotoThe first UN conference on racism– held in August, 2001, in Durban, South Africa, attracted anti-Israel demonstrators.

The United Nations’ second World Conference against Racism, scheduled for next April, was shaping up to be a slightly smaller, rather more subdued affair than its predecessor seven years ago: Organizers nixed plans for an accompanying NGO conference, where anti-Israel groups in 2001 distributed handouts praising Adolf Hitler and featuring caricatures reviving ancient stereotypes of hook-nosed Jews thirsting for gentile blood.

United Nations officials, denouncing the “virulent anti-Semitic behaviour” of the past event, promised no repeat of the spectacle that had tainted the inaugural conference and the UN.

But the second such conference is proving to look a lot like the first.

Last week, when the preparatory committee for “Durban 2” gathered in Geneva, where the conference was relocated to avoid a repeat of the rowdy street protests that characterized the first go-round in Durban, South Africa, members suggested the NGO conference might happen after all.

Then, wrapping up last weekend, it issued its conference draft statement — a working version of what it expects will be the outcome document of next year’s meeting. And critics of the first UN conference (properly called the World Conference on Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance) say it not only reveals the UN’s determination to rehash the same themes — featuring outsized emphasis on condemning Western nations as “Islamophobic” and singling out Israel as a “racist” and “apartheid” state — it goes further, directly threatening Western-style freedoms.

All the evidence, they say, vindicates the decision by the Canadian government to boycott Durban 2 altogether.

The Conservative government announced in January that it would not attend Durban 2, sensing from early signs — meetings scheduled on high Jewish holidays; an organizing committee chaired by Libya, Pakistan, Iran and Cuba — that the second run promised a virtual repeat of what the Prime Minister once called an “anti-Semitic and anti-Western hatefest.”

And last week’s declaration draft does revive much of the tone of Durban 1’s final communique: It describes Israel’s Zionist immigration rules (which grant automatic citizenship to Jews) as “based on racial discrimination with the aim of continuing domination of the occupied territory,” deeming the policy “a new kind of apartheid, a crime against humanity, a form of genocide and a serious threat to international peace and security.”

It accuses Israel of practising “torture,” “acts of racism” and “intimidation and denial of fundamental human rights” against Palestinians. And it calls for Jerusalem to be liberated from “foreign occupation, together with all its racial practices,” while affirming the right of Palestinians to “return to their homeland.”

Jason Kenney, Secretary of State for Multiculturalism and Canadian Identity, says the draft does not surprise him, and validates his government’s decision to steer clear of the conference. “This is clearly an effort by certain interests and certain countries to use every available organ of the United Nations to play the same tune. It’s getting tiresome,” he says.

Norwegian frigate for use against Somali Pirates

Now this is long overdue. Its only unfortunate they seem to need a UN mandate to do it. Will be interesting to see if the OIC (organisation of Islamic Conferences) in the U.N. Will allow this neccesary program to take place. Its worth mentioning that the actual reason for the dark ages was when brigands made trade impossible by taking over the Roman roads they could no longer protect.

According to daily newspaper VG, the new super frigate could be in the Gulf of Aden east of the mouth of the Red Sea by next spring.

The task of the ship will be to help the international naval force protect civilian ships against attacks from pirates.

The head of Norway’s armed forces Sverre Diesen confirms that the first of the new frigates has bean allotted to this task.

A clear UN mandate and political approval at home will be need for the project to go ahead.

Five Norwegian frigates are being built in Spain by Nevanti Ship Yards. Including six helicopters, the price tag is NOK 21 Billion (USD 3.8 billion).

UN being asked to make cartoons of Mohamed a crime.

The sick thing is, the OIC (Organization of Islamic States) has a good shot of getting this UN ‘law’ as they have succeeded already in getting blasphemy legislation claiming to be for all religions but only mentioning Islam of course and repeatedly.

I love the last paragraph of this article. Its right out of the ‘B’rere Rabbit and the Briar patch’

“Mufti said a particular group in America and the European Union had been launching attacks against Islam. “However, we should not get emotional and resort to any kind of violence, including suicide bombings,” he said.”

On the front page of this blog there is a graphic of Larry Curly and Mohamed which is decently high rez if you click on the image. I encourage you all to copy it, go to your local T shirt place and make a few T’s with that image for yourself and all your self defence capable friends. Mine has a Gregorious Nekshot quote above the image

“If you laugh you are not afraid. If you are not afraid you are free”

Good sentiment if not 100% true but what is true is,

“Freedom. Use it or lose it”

The European left and the new anti semitism. A video.

A few years ago I was a strident opponent of the idea that antisemitism and dislike of Israel where related. I felt that it was a cheap shot to try and tar any opponent of Israeli policy as anti semitic and therefore not allowed for debate. I still think at that time in the 1970s and 1980s this was often the case.

Not anymore. Opponents of Israel because it is a Jewish state in the region of the world conquered by Islam have deliberately made the two things the same issue. Its no longer about human rights within Israel except where they can be used to smear the state as illegitimate. It’s no longer about this policy or that but whether or not Israel itself is an evil entity and guilty of anything that can be pinned to it because it is a Jewish state. In other words, Israel has become synonymous with Judaism by its opponents and no other attributes, such as its rights for all, democracy or freedom for all who live within it far surpassing most nations freedoms and certainly all Islamic states even for Arab Muslims, are ignored.

The UN in 2007 condemned Israel as being the #1 worst state on earth for women’s rights. Play a game with your friends. Ask them to name the 10 worst states for rights of women on earth and see how many pick Israel. Then have a look at he UN double standards on all issues of rights and Israel. This from 1982 and its become infinitely worse since then. This video shows some contemporary aspects of this use of Israel as a tool to promote Jew hatred plain and simple.

Chris Hitchens: Why Kosovo is NOT Ossetia

fighting words: A wartime lexicon.
South Ossetia Isn’t Kosovo

Whatever Moscow says, there are at least six significant differences between the two situations.

By Christopher Hitchens
Posted Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at 12:00 PM ET
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin
While it is almost certainly true that Moscow’s action in the Ossetian and (for good measure) the Abkhazian enclave of Georgia has been, in a real sense, the revenge for the independence of Kosovo (on Feb. 14 Vladimir Putin said publicly that Western recognition of Kosovar independence would be met by intensified Russian support for irredentism in South Ossetia), it is extremely important to bear in mind that this observation does not permit us the moral sloth of allowing any equivalence between the two dramas.

Perhaps one could mention just some of the more salient differences?

Russia had never expressed any interest in Ossetian or Abkhazian micronationalisms, while Georgia was an integral part of the Soviet Union. It is thus impossible to avoid the suspicion that these small peoples are being used as “strategic minorities” to negate the independence of the larger Georgian republic and to warn all those with pro-Russian populations on their soil of what may, in turn, befall them. This is like nothing so much as Turkish imperialism in Cyprus and Thrace and Iraq, where local minorities can be turned on and off like a faucet according to the needs of the local superpower.

Truly amazing video series. As far as I know the information in these videos is accurate and very compelling as well as non partizan. Please take the time to watch them all. Not only is it a great education on nuclear weapons and how they are constructed and work, but it shows you exactly why the Bush and Clinton Administrations regularly attacked parts of iraq and even the UN blew up some components in Iraq.

The UN really must be ignored. Islam now above criticism

Discussion of religious questions now banned at UN Human Rights Council

From Europe News Denmark

International Humanist and Ethical Union June 30 2008

The UN Human Rights Council is not allowed to judge religions, according to president Doru Romulus Costea of Romania. Criticism of Sharia law or fatwas is now forbidden.

This ruling follows attempts by the Egyptian and Pakistani delegates at the Council to silence criticism of human rights abuse in the Islamic world.

The representative of the Association for World Education, in a joint statement with the International Humanist and Ethical Union, had denounced the stoning to death of women accused of adultery and of girls being married at the age of nine years old in countries where Sharia law applies.

The speaker, David Littman, was interrupted by no fewer than 16 points of order and the proceedings of the Council were suspended for forty minutes when the Egyptian delegate said that “Islam will not be crucified in this Council” and attempted to force a vote on whether the speaker should be allowed to continue.

On giving his ruling after the break Council President Costea said that the Council “is not prepared to discuss religious questions and we don’t have to do so”. “Declarations must avoid judgments or evaluation about religion. … I promise that next time a speaker judges a religion or a religious law or document, I will interrupt him and pass on to the next speaker”.
