An imam has been killed in a fire at a Shia mosque in the Brussels suburb of Anderlecht, in what is believed to have been a deliberate attack.
Anderlecht Mayor Vincent Van Goidsenhoven was quoted by local media as saying the suspect threw a petrol bomb at the mosque.
Initial reports say the imam, 47, died of smoke inhalation and that one other person was injured.
Local media reports say dozens of people have gathered near the mosque.

The Antwerp public prosecutor today recommended a 2 year prison sentence for Fouad Belkacem, head of sharia4belgium and a 1 year suspended sentence for Mr Anjem Choudary, regarding comments made in early 2010 exposing the Belgium regime for its Burqa ban and other attacks against Islam and Muslims. The cases were heard in absentia today in the Antwerp Criminal Court.

The leader of the Beligian Vlaams Belang (Flemish Interest) party already has a well-deserved reputation for being a brave man.
He has been been prosecuted on preposterous trumped up charges, for doing nothing more than pointing out the extent of Islamisation in his country, and manhandled and thrown to the floor by police for just holding legitimate democratic protests.
But now it seems that Dewinter’s courage runs in the family, as does an eye for campaigning strategies that cut right to the heart of modern European political issues.

A Belgian politician has risked causing uproar among Muslims after starting a ‘Women Against Islamization’ campaign featuring his 19-year-old daughter wearing a burka and a bikini.

The provocative image is likely to inflame tensions among Islamic groups and nationalists in the racially-divided country.
The poster shows the words ‘Freedom or Islam?’ written on a red bar across Ms Dewinter’s breasts. Further down the poster a black panel with the words ‘You choose!’ is seen covering the teenager’s crotch.
The extremist [b*llshit! Ed] Vlaams Belang party claims that it wants to convince women to take a stand against Islam. Ms Dewinter told the Belgian press she does not feel used by the party. She said: ‘I’ve suggested (the poster) myself, I have learned to live with it but I have had everything up to death threats made at me.’ She said that she ‘wanted to make this statement.’
She added: ‘What is the greatest contrast with a niqab? Nude. ‘The campaign fits in perfectly with how I feel about the whole issue . As women, we must choose: freedom or Islam.’ The teenager claimed that she had been threatened by Muslim groups She added: ‘Death threats and criticism no longer scare me off.’
Her father, the party’s leader, said: ‘Women are always the first victims of Islam. We want to make clear that they have a choice.’

It is still early in the day, but it would appear that the government of Belgium has now officially jumped the shark of political correctness. They are now saying that a lone man, a PONI, (person of no identity) attacked children with a machine gun and grenades and there was no connection to terror with this event.
I don’t care if this was done by a former Disney employee upset with retirement benefits. This was terrorism. Belgium is so desperate to disconnect Islam with Islamic activity, that they are ready to say a man attacking soft targets with grenades and a machine gun is somehow, not terror. I look forward to the explanation on this.

The Karachi Post in Pakistan claimed that the attack was linked to the sentencing in Liege on Dec. 12 of the family of Sadia Sheikh, who was killed by four family members in October 2007 over her refusal to accept an arranged marriage. A bomb threat was issued Dec. 12 against the court in Liege.
Although police know the identities of at least two of the attackers, they have only released information on one of them — 32-year-old Amrani Nordine, who died in the attack. According to Belgian newspaper Sudpress, Nordine was sentenced to 58 months in prison in 2008 for weapons possession and the cultivation of cannabis. Once the other attackers’ identities are available, we will be able to better determine the motivation for the attack. Regardless, the attack appears to follow STRATFOR’s forecast that jihadists and other militants will move to armed assaults for terrorist attacks.

(Reuters) – A gunman killed four people, including himself, in an attack in the Belgian city of Liege on Tuesday, Belgian media reported.
The man, named by Belgian press agency Belga as 32-year-old Nordine Amrani, opened fire and threw explosives on a city centre square which was hosting a Christmas market.
A judicial source told Reuters that at least three people, including the gunman, had died.

Witnesses said up to three men threw up to four grenades at a bus station in the central square of Place Saint-Lambert.
Unconfirmed reports suggested one of the attackers is among the dead, but police have warned at least two of the assailants may still be at large.
They have warned residents to remain in their homes or inside shops in the city.
Belgian newspaper Le Soir reported shots had also been fired.
At least one of the attackers has been arrested, while another fled into a nearby building, believed to be the law courts, the paper claimed.
One witness told RTL TV he heard three “large explosions” and then a series of shots ringing out.

He said: “There were sounds of gunfire and then everyone scattered.
“I just hid myself…there was total panic.”
Valerie Schaaps, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office, confirmed there had been explosions and gunfire, and that there were injuries.

RTLNIEUWS: DEURNE – Belgian police have searched a member of the extremist movement Sharia4Belgium and found a Kalashnikov some Belgian newspapers on Monday reported. According to the report police say it is a “very serious offense.” The courts and the police want to move now to keep a closer eye.

They threw eggs on them and spat at Manji. The special mobile unit of the police had to expel these Muslims which numbered between 20 and 30 out of the building. Two were arrested.
The group probably belonged to the Belgian organization Sharia4Belgium. The discussion focused on “a new generation of Muslims which inspire hope.”

The girl, Oceane Sluijzer, has filed a complaint with police after the anti-Semitic attack at a sports training center. The attackers were identified and questioned by police.
Jewish legislator Viviane Teitelbaum of Brussels denounced the “silence” of political leaders and most of media after this attack.
Coordinating Committee of Jewish Organizations of Belgium (CCOJB), the umbrella group of Jewish organizations in Belgium, expressed “shock” at the attack and asked that the investigation be conducted without delay. The Jewish group added it is considering filing a civil suit and said the Jewish community is “exasperated” by repeated attacks on Jews in Belgium, whose Jewish population is 40,000.
It also told the Belgian French community’s Education Minister he should “introduce appropriate educational programs in schools to prevent unjustified tensions between communities,” the European Jewish Press reported.
The Jewish Consistory, the representative body of Jewish religious congregations in the country, also appealed to authorities to take action.

Before moving in with a Belgian man her age named Jean, she spent some time in a centre for victims of domestic violence where she drew up a will as she felt threatened.
She nonetheless agreed to visit the family in hopes of making peace.

This story is interesting. It mirrors the riots in England in some ways. I found it on islamversuseurope.blogspot.com and titled the video into English. IVE claims it was Muslims and makes the observation that in very short order, they were able to organize a riot and get T shirts made etc.
No argument there, clearly they did, and of 150 people or so. But the video, which is clearly sanitized as all hell, does not say who the people are who did the rioting, although the classic European MO of the Muslim is beating up on cars and the uninvolved and defenseless. So that makes a good case for it.
If anyone can find any other stories from the MSM to corroborate IVE‘s version of events I would appreciate seeing them in the comments.

MPs voted to ban veils on the grounds of securityA law has come into force in Belgium banning women from wearing the full Islamic veil in public.
The country is the second European Union nation after France to enforce such a ban. Offenders face a fine of 137.5 euros (£121; $197) and up to seven days in jail.
