Clandestine abortions and circumcisions on the fly become a plague: African and Asian doctors claim to have found a solution

How to deal with the complications of health that are related to cultural practices that put life in danger? The question can seem random, but it’s not. If the figures of the Italian Institute of neuro-traumatology (INI) are true, then some 200 people die each year in Rome and the surrounding area, due to the continuation of surgical operations practiced out of normal hospitals. Women who give birth far from the proper places, adapt, because the religion prohibits that they be examined by male gynecologists. Young girls die because their parents are determined that the girls be “cut”, as prescribed by their country’s traditions, but cannot find a doctor who agrees to commit such a “crime”. Surgeons who balk at child circumcision in the name of conscientious objection: all the people who find themselves up against this wall of incomprehension are sent to clandestine practitioners, in apartments or at the back of a shop without guarantee of asepsis (non-contamination).

The result is a series of “suspicious” deaths; corpses brought into mortuaries due to death, the unexplained wounds or the accidents without much specification. Hemorrhages, infections, unpleasant scarring cause a real calamity in Italy, maintains the INI (Italian Institute of neuro-traumatology). In response to this crisis, the AMSI, the Italian association of foreign doctors, supported by the INI, made a shock proposal, with an openness to some positive “discrimination”: to create a hospital where the barriers of languages and customs will not be an obstacle, because the practitioners there will be African or Asian who know the customs, but will also be medical experts who are regularly trained in Italy. Surgery offers hope for victims of female genital mutilation

Jewish World Review:

(via AFP)

Fatima Sheriff has a sketchy recollection of the day her mother pinned down her four-year-old body while a stranger slashed at her genitals. “I remember I was fighting,” the 32-year-old told AFP, pointing to her back where she bears a scar from flailing about on the stony ground on which she was mutilated

“I remember my mum was the one who held me,” she said, recounting that her assailants had wielded a razor blade.

“If somebody did that to me today I would kill them,” she said simply.

Islamic holy man and his wife are jailed for mutilating the genitals of their four daughters

The Daily Mail:

  • Victims sob in court as parents are led away
  • Minister brands female circumcision a ‘grave crime’

  • An Islamic holy man and his wife have been jailed for the genital mutilation of their four daughters.

The case has shocked France and was branded by a female government minister as a ‘grave crime’ and an ‘intolerable affront to women’s dignity.’

All four of the victims, now aged between 11 and 20, were in court to hear the sentence and wept and cried out as their parents were led away from the dock.

The unnamed father was sentenced to two years and his wife got 18 months for allowing a ‘doctor’ to remove parts of their vaginas.

They were charged  with ‘complicity in voluntary violence having led to mutilation by an older person  of a minor under the age of 15 years’ , a crime punishable  by a maximum of 20 years jail.

The father was said to be a ‘ marabout’ – an Arabic word for an Islamic ascetic holy man alleged to be endowed with magical powers.

The couple originally came from the west African state of Guinea where according to a 2007 study, 96 per cent of young girls have their genitals mutilated in the name of religion.

Black African marabouts, or sorcerers as they are termed by other branches of Islam who condemn their practices, use talismans to exert their powers .

They are said to be able to cure illnesses and restore whole communities to wellbeing simply by waving feathers and intoning magical words.

At the trial in Nevers, central France, the two youngest victims had declared themselves plaintiffs under French law but the elder girls withdrew their complaint and sided with their parents.

Nathalie Bouvier-Longeville, a lawyer representing the two youngest sisters told the court: ‘ By what right were the parents able to appropriate parts of their daughters’ bodies?

‘They are loving parents and not monsters. It seems inconceivable that loving parents could have done this’.

The two eldest girls defended their parents action, saying that they did not understand why they were appearing in court.

Sobbing in the witness box , the mother told the court that she now regretted what had happened .

‘Now I would be less passive, ‘ she said. ‘Circumcision is not good.’

The former holy man, said to have been severely handicapped by a stroke, told the judge ,’ What is the most important thing for me is the  wellbeing of my family. I am sorry for what happened.’

Moroccan- born Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, 35, Minister of Women’s Rights in the new government of François Hollande, has now pledged a crackdown on the illegal practice.

Mayo clinic fires doctor for advocating and performing female genital mutilation

Revoke the Certifications of Hatem Elhagaly

From the Mayo:

Dr. Elhagaly is no longer employed or caring for patients at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. We are working with his patients to transition their care to another physician. Because this is a personnel issue, we cannot comment further on Dr. Elhagaly’s employment status.

Female circumcision in children, referred to as female genital mutilation in U.S. legal statutes, is a felony-level child abuse crime. Mayo Clinic strongly opposes the procedure and it has never been performed at any Mayo Clinic facility.

Muslims in the UK doing more FGM than anywhere in Europe.

The past 24 hours has seen a lot of articles about this. But I will include a few videos spanning the last year or so to show that Muslims are flouting the law all over the West to excise the clitoris’s and labia and so on of their children with gay abandon.

Some current articles on the subject:

UK medics ‘filmed offering to perform female genital mutilation’

Medics in the UK have been uncovered allegedly offering to perform female genital mutilation (FGM) on girls as young as ten, it has been claimed.

The Sunday Times claims to have filmed a dentist, GP and alternative medicine practitioner who were all willing to perform circumcisions or arrange for the operation to be carried out.

Somali model and activist Waris Dirie, who was mutilated as a child, said: ‘If a white girl is abused, the police come break down the door. If a black girl is mutilated, nobody takes care of her. This is what I call racism.’

Carrying out FGM or arranging it is illegal and carries a maximum prison sentence of 14 years.

The Sunday Times filmed a GP referring an undercover reporter to a dentist who said he would be willing to perform FGM upon girls aged ten and 13.

Journalists also spoke to an alternative medicine practitioner who was willing to circumcise a ten-year-old girl for £750.

All three deny any wrongdoing.

According to the Sunday Times there could be 100,000 women in the UK who have undergone FGM while 22,000 girls in Britain could be at risk of the procedure, including 6,000 in London.

The Metropolitan Police said it had received 166 reports of people who fear they are at the risk of FGM since 2008, but no convictions have ever taken place.

  • Only two doctors have ever been struck off by the General Medical Council

As many as 100,000 women in Britain have undergone female genital mutilations with medics in the UK offering to carry out the illegal procedure on girls as young as 10, it has been reported.

Investigators from The Sunday Times said they secretly filmed a doctor, dentist and alternative medicine practitioner who were allegedly willing to perform circumcisions or arrange for the operation to be carried out.

The doctor and dentist deny any wrongdoing.

The practice, which involves the surgical removal of external genitalia and in some cases the stitching of the vaginal opening, is illegal in Britain and carries up to a 14 year prison sentence.

It is also against the law to arrange FGM.

Female genital mutilation rife in Egypt despite ban

Voice of the Copts:

BBC News

“Of course she must be circumcised,” said Olla, referring to the timid 11-year-old girl sitting beside her.

I asked Olla if I could find out from the child herself, her daughter Raaja, who sat shaking with fear, what she thought.

“There is no need to ask her,” her mother declared. “She doesn’t understand what we are talking about.”

I thought that unlikely. We were sitting in the family room of a two-storey house in a village in Upper Egypt. Besides Olla and her daughter, Raaja, present were her mother-in-law, who nodded approvingly at everything she said, and three young teenage girl cousins.

What else would the girls talk about when they were alone but that single event that can traumatise them for life – the dread of the inevitable, the incomprehension as they are held down by mothers, aunts and grandmothers, the indescribable pain as the midwife takes a blade to the clitoris.

Muslims and Christians

Astonishingly, in 21st Century Egypt, the latest figures suggest that more than 90% of the women have been subject to female genital mutilation (FGM). The figure comes from a Unicef approved survey carried out in 2008, the year that the practice was banned.

A new set of figures are due to be published later this year and doctors expect them to show a 10% decline. That still leaves the majority of women in Egypt exposed to unimaginable physical and psychological pain and denied what the rest of us would call a normal sex life.

Video on FGM in Islamic communities

This is good but brace yourselves. I like how black women activists, what we used to call ‘feminists’, meaning they fought for rational rights for women, like the right not to have all your sexual equipment removed for example, are being told that banning this practice is ‘neocolonialist’ and they have to fight the moronic left who pretend to be on the side of the oppressed by not stopping them from being mutilated in the genitals.

Kafka, did you ever think things could go this far?

Phyllis Chesler: Turning a blind eye to Islam’s brutal treatment of women

National Post, March 12, 2011 – 7:03 AM ET/Last Updated: March 12, 2011 5:10 AM ET

http://www.nationalpost.com/ Phyllis Chesler in New York City

My feminist generation believed in universal human rights — one standard for all. I still do. Therefore, I have taken a strong stand against the persecution of immigrant women and dissidents. I now submit affidavits on behalf of women who have fled the threat of such killings and who are seeking asylum in the United States.

Those of us who condemn the plight of such women, who are mainly Muslims and ex-Muslims, have been demonized in activist circles as “Islamophobes” and racists because we do not, in the same breath, blame America, the West or Israel for their suffering. Many Western academic feminists are so afraid of being condemned as “racists” that this fear trumps their concern for women’s rights in the Arab and Muslim world.

Islamic gender apartheid, which has penetrated the West, is characterized by normalized daughter- and wife-battering, forced veiling, female genital mutilation, polygamy, purdah (the segregation or sequestration of women), arranged marriage, child marriage and first-cousin marriage. Girls and women often are honour-murdered if they resist such practices, if they wish to divorce a dangerously abusive husband, or if they are viewed as too independent, too modern.

Today, at its most extreme, Islamic gender apartheid is characterized by acid attacks, public stonings, hangings, and beheading of women in Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Somalia and Saudi Arabia — countries in which female rape victims are jailed, tortured and executed.

Feminists should be crying out from the rooftops against these practices. Some are. I am. Yet, many Muslims, as well as many intellectually “progressive” Western infidels, are not. They are welcoming the imposition of Islamic religious law, Sharia law, not only in the Middle East but also in the West. Continue Reading →

This is coming straight from the courtroom in Vienna, Austria, where the Tundra Tabloids is being handed a live feed from Henrik Raeder Clausen of EuropeNews. You’ll be the first to know about the events taking place inside the Austrian courtroom, where the first hearing of the case against Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff, who’s accused of violating Europe’s onerous hate speech statutes, will be heard.

NOTE: There is a one hour time difference between Finnish and Austrian time zones. KGS

9:20 Henrik Clausen states that “we’re outside the court room, waiting for Elisabeth to appear at 9:00.”

9:41: H.C. Austrian TV is here with camera crew.

10:34: Opening remarks

The room has seats for 15, 25 spectators there. ATV and other press asks for comments, but on advice of the lawyer ESW says ”No comments now, after the hearings”.

The judge informs ESW about her rights, that all she says can be used against her.

The public prosecutor makes a short summary of various conclusions from ESW, taken out of the context from 8 hours of teachings. Without the context, they sound omnious, like speaking of a ”Burqa ghost”, comparing her statements to those of Susanne Winter, mentioning that Muhammad married a child of 6, as well as the risk that we will eventually have a civil war.

Defence lawyer talks of the principles of gender equality, freedom of religion and the lack of reciprocity that exists in Islam, for example that other religions cannot be freely excercised in several Islamic countries. That ESW grew up in Islamic countries and has experienced the situation of women there directly.

He continues to explain that the statements mentioned were taken seriously out of context, and that some were not public, thus not relevant to the case. And that we should play the 8 hours of recordings to understand the context.

He proceeds to invoke three expert witmesses who will testify that ESW speaks the truth:
Wafa Sultan,
Hans Jansen
Robert Spencer

10:53: The judge inquires if we are talking Islamic extremism or of Islam as such?

Elisabeth explains that we are talking Islam as such, as defined by its scripture, and quotes Erdogan that there is no moderate Islam anyway.

The judge accepts that we can play the tapes.

Then proceeds to ask about us being lied to 24 hours a day. Elisabeth explains the concept of Taqiyya. The judge says: ”That is your interpretation”, to which Elisabeth responds: ”No, this is the canonical interpretation”.

Next question is:Is Islam in a never-ending war with the West?”

Elisabeth refers to history and newspapers to document that, and that Jihad has at times been considered a pillar of Islam.

11:15: The ”burqa ghost” story is related.

Elisabeth took a photo of a woman in burqa in Meitlinger Hauptstrasse, Vienna, and told about this in her seminars. It is difficult to figure out why the public prosecutor finds this offensive, not to mention illegal. The defence asks about this. Elisabeth explains a few things about freedom for women – all women – to decide for themselves.

A reference is then made to debates at OSCE, where she discussed child molestation, and says: Christian cardinals molest children in conflict with their religion, Muslims in line with theirs. As background the marriage between Muhammad and Aisha is related, as documented by several Hadith authors.

Paedophilia is discussed, in light of Muhammad being the perfect example for Muslims, as stated in Quran 33:21. That means everything Muhammad ever did or said, which is in the hadith.

Elisabeth explains what the hadith collections are, how they constitute an indispensable part of Islam, due to 33:21 and similar suras. And emphasises that she is not making up statements, merely quoting canonical Islamic scripture.

Henrik Clausen: [Now apostacy – more later]

11:34: The Judge opens a discussion if we’re talking of ”All Muslims” here.

Elisabeth says no, for most Muslims do not know what is in the Quran, which is in a language (Arabic) they do not understand, and thus place their confidence in the imams for interpretations.

Judge: ”Is every Muslim a Jihadist?”

Elisabeth: ”No, not at all. But Jihad is an obligation for Muslims.”

Elisabeth: ”Converts, not cultural Muslims, are problematic.”

Elisabeth: ”This is about the teachings of Islam, not about Muslims.”

Judge: ”You said Mulisms in the seminars?”

Elisabeth: ”Yes, in context that is needed to understand the relevance of this.”

Judge: ”What percentage of Muslims are Jihadis?”

Elisabeth: ”I do not know. Not the majority. One promille is enough to be a problem, though”.

Then the quote about ”Islam is shit” is debated. Elisabeth points out that she was debating, using visual quotes, if it is legal or punishable to say ”Islam is shit”. Thus, what we are discussing here is the meta-question:

Is it illegal, or punishable, to debate the legality of saying: ”Islam is shit”?
