Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad gloated publicly on Thursday over the deaths of Israelis in a terror bombing in Bulgaria, and hinted that Iran was responsible for the attack.

Speaking hours after Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had publicly blamed the bombing Wednesday at Bulgaria’s Burgas airport on “Hezbollah, directed by Iran,” Ahmadinejad described the attack as “a response” to Israeli “blows against Iran.”

“The bitter enemies of the Iranian people and the Islamic Revolution have recruited most of their forces in order to harm us,” he said in a speech reported by Israel’s Channel 2 TV. “They have indeed succeeded in inflicting blows upon us more than once, but have been rewarded with a far stronger response.”

Exclusive: New York police link nine 2012 plots to Iran, proxies

Chicago Tribune:

Mark HosenballReuters9:29 a.m. CDT, July 20, 2012

LONDON (Reuters) – New York police believe Iranian Revolutionary Guards or their proxies have been involved so far this year in nine plots against Israeli or Jewish targets around the world, according to restricted police documents obtained by Reuters.

Reports prepared this week by intelligence analysts for the New York Police Department (NYPD) say three plots were foiled in January, three in February and another three since late June. Iran has repeatedly denied supporting militant attacks abroad.

The documents, labeled “Law Enforcement Sensitive,” said that this week’s suicide bomb attack in Bulgaria was the second plot to be unmasked there this year.

The reports detail two plots in Bangkok and one each in New Delhi, Tbilisi, Baku, Mombasa and Cyprus. Each plot was attributed to Iran or its Lebanese Hezbollah militant allies, said the reports, which were produced following the bombing in Burgas, Bulgaria of a bus carrying Israeli tourists.

US Official: Bulgaria suicide bomber confirmed to be Hezbollah member

H/T Snaphanen

Globe and Mail:

A senior U.S. official confirmed Israel’s assertions Thursday that the suicide bomber who killed five Israelis in an attack here Wednesday was a member of a Hezbollah cell operating in Bulgaria.

The official said the current U.S. intelligence assessment is that the bomber was “acting under broad guidance” to hit Israeli targets when the opportunity presented itself. That guidance was given to Hezbollah, a Lebanese militant group, by its primary sponsor, Iran, he said.

Police found a cache of terror-related material after being called to a domestic dispute at the couple’s home in Oldham, Greater Manchester, last July.

“I’ve had eggs thrown at me, been punched in the face and suffered verbal abuse for being a Jew,” said Rabbi Arnold Saunders.

“But we were all taken aback when we heard about a terrorist bomb plot.”

The rabbi, of the Higher Crumpsall and Higher Broughton Synagogue, is trying to reassure his shocked community after the conviction of a radicalised Muslim couple for planning bomb attacks on Jewish areas.

“You can’t run your life thinking you might be a victim of a terror attack, and if you did that would mean the terrorists had won,” he said.

Mehdi Ghezali Terrorist said to have been a Swedish citizen with a history of Muslim extremist activities

Bulgarian media on Thursday named the suicide bomber who blew up a bus full of Israeli tourists, killing five Israelis and a local bus driver, in the Black Sea resort of Burgas on Wednesday as Mehdi Ghezali.

There was no independent confirmation of the veracity of the information. The reports surfaced soon after Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had publicly accused Hezbollah, directed by Iran, of responsibility for the bombing. The Prime Minister’s Office made no comment on the reports.

The Bulgarian reports, rapidly picked up by Hebrew media, posited various versions of how the bomber had detonated the bomb, including the suggestion that the bomber had not intended to die in the blast, but may have wanted to place the bomb on the bus and flee.

Ghezali was reportedly a Swedish citizen, with Algerian and Finnish origins. He had been held at the US’s Guantanamo Bay detainment camp on Cuba from 2002 to 2004, having previously studied at a Muslim religious school and mosque in Britain, and traveled to Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. He was released to Swedish custody in 2004, and the Swedish government did not press charges. He was also reportedly among 12 foreigners captured trying to cross into Afghanistan in 2009.

Reactions to Today’s Terror Attack on Israeli Tourists in Bulgaria

U.N. Watch

A bus carrying Israeli tourists at Bulgaria’s Burgas airport suddenly exploded today, killing seven and wounding at least 30 more.

• A U.N. spokesperson said that Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned the attack “in the strongest possible terms.” In fact, however, the U.N. chief’s choice of terms was weak in comparison to his statement two weeks ago on the bombing of churches in Kenya. In that case, Mr. Ban rightly spoke of “terrorist” attacks, “reprehensible and criminal,” saying the perpetrators “must be held to account.” Yet today he referred only to the deadly “bombing” of Israelis — noticeably declining to describe it as an act of terrorism — and he made no call for holding the perpetrators to account. UN Watch today urged Mr. Ban to clarify his position and to truly use the strongest possible terms to condemn today’s terrorist attack.

Al Qaeda planning kidnappings and killings at Jewish targets in London.

Your Jewish News:

Al Qaeda continues to plot horrific terror attacks against Western interests and especially Jewish targets.

The cache of intelligence found with the body of the African leader of Al Qaeda, and inside his Toyota truck riddled with bullets when he tried to bomb a checkpoint of the Somali government, offers a chilling look at the global aspirations of Al Shabab, an offshoot of Al Qaeda, in Somalia.

Documents obtained by the news media, show details of plots of kidnapping and attacks on the prestigious Eton College, the Jewish neighborhoods, and the elegant Ritz and Dorchester hotels in London.

They were discovered last year when a high Al Qaeda leader Fazul Abdullah Mohammed, 38, was shot dead by Somali forces.

Fazul was indicted in the United States for the 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Tanzania and Kenya that killed 224. He was a close ally of Osama bin Laden and considered the primary liaison between senior leaders of Al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan and the Shabab, the terrorist group that has grown out of decades of chaos in Somalia.

Valls worries about (newborn antisemitism) in our suburbs

The Parisian:

Translation by Bear

Manuel Valls, minister of the interior has invited Muslims to construct an Islam-of-France independent of all foreign tutelage calling to an end of “divisions” and to put in place “a serene dialogue” between the leaders of the Muslim cult and public powers.

“There are in our neighborhoods, some youths and some not so young, that in the name of an identity that would feel threatened decide in the most imbecile manner, the most dangerous for our values to attack our Jews. They consider the Jew to be enemy”

He is a guest this Sunday of Radio J, the minister of the interior, Manual Valls, has worried about “a new antisemitism” for many years.

The minister analyzes: “we do not hesitate today to insult, to hit a citizen because he is a Jew in the name of his cultural identity.” The minister recommends prudence before blaming what he describes as an outbreak of intolerable antisemitism. “But without a doubt, unfortunately, in weak spirits who preach this hatred, what has happened may have given license to hateful words.”

The minister is questioned by Radio J while the two presumed assaulters of a teenager of Jewish persuasion in a train were being questioned for violence this Saturday. […]

The victim, a 17 year old, is schooled at the School Ozar Hatorah De Toulouse where Mohamed Mera had killed  3 kids and a Jewish father in March.

Manuelle Valls had shared Thursday his most severe condemnation after that violent assault. The question of the antisemetic character of the aggression remains unanswered.

The question to know of the report, is if the notable reason for youth attacks claims to Islam, Manuel Valls has answered: “I fear it”

But Valls is also called to “be careful within all terms – not to stigmatize other French. To not throw disgrace on co-citzens, notably of Muslim persuasion.”

Why the creation of a ‘European’ identity necessitates unashamed antisemitism from Brussels

Bias: Nigel Farage has criticised the EU’s stance towards Israel

Day by day, minute by minute, speech by speech and word by word, the United Kingdom Independence Party looks and sounds increasingly like the Conservative Party in exile.

Their policies cover the economy, law and order, education, defence, patriotism, Christianity, immigration, over-regulation, tax reduction, and their support for private enterprise, traditional marriage and the family, and (of course) the thorny question of the European Union. There is no longer any credible assertion that UKIP is a ‘single-issue’ protest party or pressure group.

And now, just as we have our long-held suspicions confirmed that the Foreign Office is essentially Arabist and ever so subtly anti-Israel, with government officials outrageously asserting that Benjamin Netanyahu uses ‘the incitement issue as a delaying tactic in peace talks’, we hear that Nigel Farage is confronting the ‘strong bias’ against Israel that exists within the European Union.

When have you ever heard a Conservative MEP do that?

‘There is within the European institutions a very strong anti-Israel bias’, Mr Farage said. ‘I would almost say — and I am bit nervous of saying this — there’s almost a new trendy form of anti-Semitism creeping in…

‘I could show you, within the last three months, transcripts of several dozen speeches in the European Parliament. There is a fundamental dislike of Israel. But it’s more than that. And we find that objectionable and worrying.’

The ‘Jihad at Home’ Case: New UK Terror Trial

 World Affairs Journal:

“Almost nightly he was using the laptop,” police officer Paul Brereton told the court, “and described how on a standard night she would be massaging oil into his feet while he would look at this [extremist] material.

”The trial of Shasta Khan, which opened in Manchester, England, last week, relates to an alleged plot to carry out a bombing campaign against the city’s Jewish community. Her husband, Mohammed Sajid Khan, 33, has already pleaded guilty. The prosecution alleges that couple began “to make preparations to carry out a terrorist attack on British soil, with the most likely target being an Orthodox Jewish area in Prestwich. Between them they made preparations, and acquired substances bought in supermarkets and information to help them in making explosives, and began the process of assembling an improvised explosive device.”

Anti-Israel Activist Lies About Being Jewish and Her Mother’s Time at Auschwitz

Anecdotally, I can attest that a lot of anti-Israel ‘Jewish’ groups are populated mostly by non-Jews. I suspect this because people I know who are not Jewish were assumed to be leftists because of their profession in the arts, were invited to join despite being non-Jewish.

Irena Wachendorff, an anti-Israel activist who has referred to pro-Israel activists as “the neo-Nazi troop among the Jews”, fabricated her Jewish roots and service in the IDF, and lied about her mother being imprisoned at Auschwitz.

The Jerusalem Post and investigative journalist Jennifer Pyka uncovered numerous lies that Wachendorff purported, including her father being Jewish and her time in the Israel Defense Forces.

“I said I was in the IDF,” but “it was a lie,” she told the Post.  Wachendorff, a German poet and activist, has worked with Germany’s Christian Democratic Union party in the Bundestag to promote an anti-Semitic and anti-israel agenda.

Wachendorff also claimed her father was Jewish, however it’s been uncovered that he served in the armed forces of Nazi Germany.

The situation is “perverse and brazen that Wachendorff presents herself as a Jew and the daughter of Holocaust survivors and engages in  work in schools about anti-Semitism and Jewish life in the Third Reich,” according to Pyka.

Henryk M. Broder, a German-Jewish author and expert on modern anti-Semitism, told the Post that this incident is symbolic of something much larger than one person pretending to be Jewish.

A French Jewish teenager, who attends the Toulouse school where Islamist gunman Mohamed Merah shot dead three children in March, has suffered a violent anti-Semitic attack on a train, French media reports said on Thursday.

The attack on Wednesday took place on a train travelling between Toulouse, which is in the south-west, and the city of Lyon in the south-east, Le Figaro newspaper reported, quoting an interior ministry statement.

“A teenager aged 17 wearing a distinctive religious symbol, who attends Ozar Hatorah school in Toulouse, was taken to task and insulted by two individuals,” the ministry was quoted as saying.

He was then attacked near the toilets “by the same two individuals, who beat him up,” the statement said, adding that the attack ended when a fellow passenger and train conductors intervened.
