Sweden: Islamic group invited anti-Semitic speaker

Update:

reinhard added the following:
Regarding the Islamist being invited to Stockholm, the organization responsible is Islamiska förbundet, which was previously headed by Waberi, the Muslim Brotherhood operative who is now an MP for the “conservatives”. But it is nice to see this episode highlighted in DN, the most left-leaning of the two major Swedish newspapers. It seems Islamists are fair targets (and the use of MEMRI in the article is a nice touch).

From The Local.Se

The Islamic Association in Sweden (Islamiska Förbundet) engaged lecturers with anti-Semitic opinions at a conference in Stockholm in December, with one known for spreading myths about Jewish conspiracies and ritual killings, reported the Dagens Nyheter (DN) daily.

The newspaper names, among others, Salah Sultan, an Egyptian professor who has expressed anti-Semitism in several film clips on Youtube.

In one particular film, he quoted a myth which circulated in the Middle Ages of Jewish ritual murder, DN reported.

Sultan has also gone on the record with claims that Jews are part of an international conspiracy trying to control the world.

After being shown the YouTube clips of the Egyptian speaking, Abdirizak Waberi, a member of parliament and former chairperson of the Islamic Association, expressed surprise.

“We have invited him in good faith,” he said.

Waberi stressed that had the association known of the film clips, the lecturer would probably not have been invited. He furthermore underlined that Sultan said nothing that could be construed as anti-Semitic during the course of the conference.

Integration Minister Eric Ullenhag has seen with the two clips featuring Sultan and stated that he considered the content to be “clearly anti-Semitic, ” DN reported.

“We do not know what Salah Sultan said when he was in Stockholm, but to invite him was inappropriate,” the minister told the newspaper.

Strange days indeed: Jason Kenney & Norman Finkelstein -Victims Of Security Shakedown On Campus

Update: Official Statement from Jason Kenney’s office on the cancellation of his talk at York University during “Democracy Week”

“I won’t speculate on York’s motivation in quoting us a thousand-dollar security tab, let alone whether they apply that practice consistently to pro-Israeli Apartheid Week events on campus. What I do know is this: York University is ground zero for Israeli Apartheid Week activities; so much so, in fact, that at York they keep it going for two weeks.

Minister Kenney, as the cabinet minister responsible for anti-racism programs in the federal government, wanted to deliver a speech at York about anti-Semitism during Israeli Apartheid Week. He wanted to stand in solidarity with the silent majority on York’s campus who are disturbed by the climate of hatred, fear and bigotry Israeli Apartheid Week’s activities promote. The Minister’s office has never been quoted such a high security cost to deliver a speech before. York did this even though we assured them the RCMP was responsible for the safety and security of cabinet ministers, and would be on hand if the situation required.

We couldn’t in good conscience impose a thousand-dollar security bill on a few already-under-siege student groups. This, truly, is a very unfortunate situation, and a powerful reminder that Israeli Apartheid Week, rather than encouraging debate and free speech, actually suppresses them – at least, that is, if you happen not to believe that Israel is a Bantustan-promoting apartheid state.

Original post follows.

Jason Kenney abruptly cancelled a scheduled appearance at York University last week, during the Israeli Apartheid Week festivities. No public reason was given, until now.

Macleans: JDL hosts counter to ‘Israeli Apartheid Week’

Islamic State Apartheid Week coming to campus

Jewish Defence League to hold event to counter Israeli Apartheid Week

The Jewish Defence League of Canada has announced it will be hosting an event called “Islamic State Apartheid Week” in Toronto next week. Its stated goal is to “counter the campus lies against Jews and highlight the truth of Islam,” as well as “expose and confront the Israel bashers and Jew haters during IAW [Israeli Apartheid Week].”

Sounds like this all should go off without a hitch, no?

So far, it seems the program consists of protesting IAW events. The first gathering is scheduled for Tuesday, March 8, to protest a screening of “Jaffa the Oranges Clockwork,” which (to add another twist) is being sponsored by the Ryerson Student Union. Two more protests–one at the University of Toronto and another at York University–have been scheduled so far.

As of yet, just over 100 people have confirmed attendance on Facebook.

A statement from the President of York U. One of the campus where recently, violent antisemitism has been quite overt.

Wikileaks, the Conspiracy Theorist, and the new anti-Semitic Myth of World Power

From The Westminster Journal

Last week WikiLeaks’ former “no. 2” Daniel Domscheit-Berg said that Julian Assange, the organization’s chairman, “sought out” Israel Shamir for collaboration. Shamir, A Russian Jew who converted to Christianity, is best known as an anti-Semitic/anti-Zionist conspiracy theorist, and author of numerous articles and several books in this genre. According to Domscheit-Berg, Assange had read Shamir’s works and found them “compelling.”

A statement on Shamir’s website claimed that he “is NOR [sic] a member, NEITHER an employee of Wikileaks: he is a freelance writer covering the Cablegate for the Russian media.” Cablegate, a play on the so-called “Irangate” scandal, refers to the leaking, and the subsequent Wikileaks’ publishing, of tens of thousands of classified US diplomatic cables.

In the abstract, Shamir seems a highly unlikely figure to seek out for collaboration on such a project. An anti-Zionist conference, held by MAUP in the Ukraine, was attended by Shamir, former KKK leader David Duke, and others in this field of study. Hardly surprising, Shamir is highly praised by David Duke, although he also has friends on the far-Left of the political spectrum, most notably… Read More.

Andrew Bostom: The Libyan “Not Worthy Zone”—Recalling Qadaffi’s “Offer” to “Arab Jews”

March 3rd, 2011 by Andrew Bostom |

Albert Memmi

The unaddressed questions (from November, 1973) of Albert Memmi still address the unworthiness of Libya

**

The most predictable outcome of Libya’s violent internecine struggle-cum-latest-Arab- “democracy movement” was aptly characterized by Andrew McCarthy: “The Libyan people are no more our ally than Qaddafi.”

McCarthy expanded upon these views with refreshingly singular honesty:

[I]t had been the swift military rout of Saddam Hussein that induced Qaddafi to renounce (or claim to renounce) his ambition to develop weapons of mass destruction in late 2003. But once the hard-power promise of the Bush Doctrine gave way to the belief that thugs could be democratized into submission, the wily old terrorist found a system he could game. And game it he did. I didn’t buy the remaking of Qaddafi then, and I don’t buy the remaking of Libya now. That puts me among a breed that, if news accounts are to be believed, is increasingly rare: I don’t care about the Libyan people — I’m sorry, I mean the “brave Libyan freedom fighters.”

Beleaguered, bizarre, and brutal Libyan dictator Muammar Qadaffi defiantly insisted during a delusional Monday 2/28/11 interview with ABC, BBC, and The Times of London that he remains beloved by his people.

They all love me, all my people [are] with me. They will die to protect me.

The bloody despot Qaddafi’s most recent counterfactual pronouncement echoes in its wicked lunacy his November 1973 statements about another “beloved” audience of his—so-called “Arab Jews”—inviting them to return to their former Libyan and other Middle Eastern Islamic homelands.  Moreover, the seething Jew-hatred now openly expressed by the protesting “brave Libyan freedom fighters”— directed in the absence of the liquidated Jewish community of Libya at Qadaffi himself—justifies, or certainly it should, McCarthy’s lack of concern for the anti-Qaddafi Libyans.

Before describing Qadaffi’s November 1973 “proposal”—highlighted by a surreal “press conference”—an historical overview of the plight of Libyan Jewry under Islam is in order.

Mordechai Hakohen (1856-1929) was a Libyan Talmudic scholar and auto-didact anthropologist who composed an ethnographic study of North African Jewry in the early 20th century. Hakohen summarizes the overall impact on the Jews of the Muslim jihad conquest and rule of North Africa, including Libya, as follows:

They [also] pressed the Jews to enter the covenant of the Muslim religion. Many Jews bravely chose death. Some of them accepted under the threat of force, but only outwardly…Others left the region, abandoning their wealth and property and scattering to the ends of the earth. Many stood by their faith, but bore an iron yoke on their necks. They lowered themselves to the dust before the Muslims, lords of the land, and accepted a life of woe—carrying no weapons, never mounting an animal in the presence of a Muslim, not wearing a red headdress, and following other laws that signaled their degradation.

Hakohen’s study (pp.74,76) includes this mid-19th century description of the Jews fate as Berber Muslim chattel slaves in the Atlas Mountains of Libya:

The Berber [Muslim] Lord passed his Hebrew slave down to his children as an inheritance. If the Berber lord had many sons, each inherited a share in the slave. Each could also sell his share in the slave…if the Hebrew slave met his obligation in giving homage to his lord and was able to acquire money, he could redeem himself by paying a sum agreeable to both parties. With this deed he could acquire a deed of manumission for that portion of the rights held by the seller.…[T]o this very day [1865]..there is no Israelite family without an Ishmaelite master to whom the Israelite must make a token payment every year. The Ishmaelite may sell him to another, and this arrangement persisted until only six or seven years ago.

Nahum Slouzschz (1871-1966), a scholar, writer, archeologist, historian and translator, travelled amongst the Jews of North Africa from 1905 to 1916, including a trek through the remote Atlas mountain region, collecting information on their lives and customs. Below are excerpts from two of Slouzschz’s accounts regarding Libyan Jews published in 1906 (p. 660) and 1908 (pp. 660-61).

Jews, Berbers, and Arabs (Libya, 1906)

Until the middle of the last century, the Jews were treated as the serfs of the Berber lords. While abolishing this humiliating institution, Turkey has not yet had the time of curb the moral vexations that the Muslims inflict on their Jewish neighbors. One example out of a hundred: the rabbi of the region [Djebel Nefussi], having journeyed to Nalut, was attacked by local inhabitants who ordered him to get down from his mule, since a Jew may not straddle a mount in the presence of Muslims. Should he dare to complain, he would run the risk of seeing his family massacred by the Arabs.

Libya and the LSE: Large Arab gifts to universities lead to ‘hostile’ teaching

H/T Infidel Guy

From The Telegraph:

The LSE is not the only university that has reason to feel ashamed, writes Stephen Pollard.

It will take the LSE quite some time to regain a seat at the table of respectability

Sir Howard Davies, the director of the London School of Economics, has at last done the honourable thing and resigned from the university’s governing council. The LSE’s shameless prostituting of its good name in return for Muammar Gaddafi’s blood money (as the Tory MP Robert Halfon has rightly called it) is as great a betrayal of the spirit of a university as there has ever been in Britain.

But while it will take the LSE quite some time to regain a seat at the table of respectability, it is not the only university that has reason to feel ashamed. The LSE is said to have received no more than £300,000 of the £1.5 million it was due from Libya.

Yet, on the most conservative estimate, other British universities have received hundreds of millions of pounds from Saudi and other Islamic sources – in the guise of philanthropic donations, but with the real intention of changing the intellectual climate of the United Kingdom.

Between 1995 and 2008, eight universities – Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, University College London, the LSE, Exeter, Dundee and City – accepted more than £233.5 million from Muslim rulers and those closely connected to them.

Much of the money has gone to Islamic study centres: the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies received £75 million from a dozen Middle Eastern rulers, including the late King Fahd of Saudi Arabia; one of the current king’s nephews, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, gave £8 million each to Cambridge and Edinburgh. Then there was the LSE’s own Centre for Middle Eastern Studies, which got £9 million from the United Arab Emirates; this week, a majority of the centre’s board was revealed to be pushing for a boycott of Israel. Emir Ramic: a Jew-Hating Fundamentalist?

This article by the man who was recently barred from entering Canada. Hat tip Andrew Bostom:

From Balkan Studies.org

Emir Ramic, a Bosniak-Canadian activist, has two faces. In his “Western” guise he heads a Bosnian-Muslim propaganda front known as the Institute for the Research of Genocide – Canada. His true values and his Weltanschauung are revealed in the fact that he is a member of the editorial board and a contributor (together with Norman Finkelstein) to the magazine Korak (“Step”), published in Sarajevo by the veterans’ association of the Bosnian-Muslim Army (ABiH). Korak is a morbidly antisemitic publication, imbued with the spirit of Islamic fundamentalism, as we are now able to reveal. The Board of Ramic’s “Canadian Institute” includes, amazingly, Asaf Dzanic, chief editor of that magazine, as well as Elie Wiesel and a few other deluded luminaries. The facts of this bizarre case defy belief.
Emir Ramic’s magazine in its issue No. 13 has an interesting article, “Basic Principles of the Law of War in Islam” which asserts, matter-of-factly, that “Jihad is a just and legitimate fight against aggression and a struggle in protection of human rights and freedoms.” (p. 15) Dixit.
On p. 93 of the same issue there is a breathtaking piece of anti-Israeli bile. It is in “Bosnian,” but even a non-native speaker will understand the title: IZRAELSKI REŽIM JE TERORISTICKI, by Fikret Muslimovic, a leading light of Ramic’s magazine. This article could have been published in Gaza; it is a tad too hard-core for Ramallah, though… Muslimovic was a senior officer in the Bosnian-Muslim army during the 1992-95 war. According to the leading Sarajevo weekly “Dani”, during that war Muslimovic was in charge of Islamist indoctrination of the Bosnian-Muslim army. A former military intelligence officer during Tito’s communist dictatorship, Emin Ramic’s colleague became in the 1990’s the “ayatollah” of Izetbegovic’s Jihadist warriors.
In the same spirit, on p. 99 of the same issue of “Korak” we have another piece of Jew-hating venom: “Who is responsible for the blockade and massacre of the inhabitants of Gaza?” by one Reza Burdzi. If you watch the Palestinian Authority TV, you need not read it .

Other issues of Ramic’s magazine are no less worthy of scrutiny, e.g. No. 14, which has Norman Finkelstein’s THE BLOODSHED IN GAZA.
The late Chairman Arafat would be proud of “Korak” No. 16 (2009): PALESTINE AND AL-QUDS AS THE SYMBOL OF ALL MUSLIMS OF THE WORLD, by Džemal Najetovi?.
Ramic’s magazine wholeheartedly supports “I’m-proud-to-be-a-holocaust-denier” Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The Muslim veterans’ organ in its issue No. 15 has an Iranian propaganda diatribe, THE FAILURE OF THE ANTI-IRANIAN SCENARIO by Fariba Farshidi. Well worth a read for those proficient in “Bosnian,” although if you read the state-approved press in Farsi you need not bother repeat the experience.
For theethnusiastic supporters of Israel’s eradication from the map, Emir Ramic’s magazine has a heart-warming article in issue No. 12: SIXTY YEARS SINCE THE PALESTINIAN CATASTROPHE, by Dr. Džemal Najetovic.
The list goes on, predictably, from one issue to another, from one author to another, from one lie to another, from one antisemitic and Serb-hating orgasm to another. Continue Reading →

Gaddafi’s Ghost: Neo-Fascists Re-emerge Globally as “anti-Zionists”

From Westminister Journal:

Written by A. Millar

Digg!

GaddafiAlthough infamous in Britain for the Lockerby bombing, in the 1980s Libya’s Colonel Gaddafi provided an array of extremist groups in Europe and North America with financial assistance. These included communist, Black nationalist, and even neo-Nazi organizations. These were ideological rather than terrorist organizations – anti-Western, Third Worldist, and anti-Zionist and/or anti-Semitic.Despite some common ideological ground, to bring such an array of organizations together under one roof might seem an impossible task. However, as Warren Kinsella describes in his book Unholy Alliances, in 1987 Gaddafi managed just that. Gathered in an army barracks in Tripoli, ostensibly to commemorate the bombing by the US a year earlier were members of the Black nationalist Nation of Islam, the All-African People’s Revolutionary Party, the Palestine Liberation Organization, the Irish Republican Army, and a British Labour MP. “[K]eeping a low profile”, Kinsella notes (p. 2), “were a dozen or so members of the Nationalist Party of Canada, a neo-Nazi group based in Toronto.” (President Ronald Regan had ordered the attack on the barracks in response to the Libyan-tied bombing of a Berlin nightclub popular with US servicemen.)

With Gaddafi gaining a reputation as a financier of radical organizations, it is perhaps not entirely surprising that in September of 1988, top National Front members Nick Griffin (now chairman of the British National Party), Derek Holland and Patrick Harrington traveled to Libya to try to secure funding for their party.

Ottawa Funded Muslim School “Israel is the Official State Of Terrorism, Racism & Crimes Against Humanity”

From Blazing Catfur with thanks:

Your Tax Dollars At Prayer Part 3: Ottawa has used $53,540.00 of your tax dollars to fund École Ali Ibn Abi Talib in Montreal under the SIP, Security Infrastructure Program, the purpose of which is to “Improve and enhance the safety of Canadian communities at risk of hate-motivated crime through the enhancement of their security infrastructure.”

A bit about the school: “ALI IBN ABI TALIB SCHOOL strives to preserve the culture and languages of the international Muslim community by seedling into the children a pride in their heritage. We put a great emphasis on Qur’anic teaching and a proper Islamic conduct. As well we enable children to master the Arabic language to provide access to the original sources of Islamic knowledge.” Oooo! That’s nice and MultiCulty.

This is the sort of “seeding” that goes on at École Ali Ibn Abi Talib ( see jpeg).

“l’invasion israelienne qui a permis a l’etat israelien de gagner le trophee de l’etat officiel du terrorisme de racisme et de crimes contre l’humanite”  Roughly translated “The Israeli invasion has won (Israel) the trophy as the Offical State of Terrorism, Racism & Crimes against humanity”

“…elle fait maintenant l’objet d’attaques criminelles continuelles par les soldat de l’armee d’occupation israelienne qui mene un nouveau genocide contre les enfants et les civiles rappelant les massacres de kana, sabra, chatila…” Rough translation “…the Israeli army is conducting a new genocide against children…”

“…notre celebration cette annee prend une autre dimension a cause des evenements tragiques qui a resulte le terrorisme zionnistes racistes” Roughly translation “our celebration this year takes another dimension because of the tragic events due to the terrorist racist zionists”

More fun with your tax dollars. This is rich. Saudi Arabia has removed Muslim Brotherhood Books from schools because they preach violence and extremism. Ottawa, perversely, funds Muslim Brotherhood schools.
