FIVE Muslim men planned an armed terrorist attack on a Sydney army base to further the cause of Islam by killing as many people as possible, a Supreme Court jury heard today.
Prosecutor Nick Robinson SC said the men took a number of steps in preparation for the attack, including sending one of their number to Somalia to obtain a fatwa or religious decree to permit the plan to go ahead.
Mr Robinson said members of the group used the code “the man who has gone to Perth” when talking about Yacqub Khayre’s trip in search of a fatwa.
The plan was that five or six men armed with high powered weapons would enter the Holsworthy Army Base and fire at and kill as many people as possible before they were either killed or overwhelmed.
They planned to use weapons that could fire at least 60 bullets.
On trial are Saney Edow Aweys, 26, Mr Khayre, 22, Abdirahman Mohamud Ahmed, 25, and Wissam Mahmoud Fattal, 33,and Nayef El Sayed, 25.
They have all pleaded not guilty to conspiring with each other and persons unknown between February 1 and August 4 last year to do acts in preparation for, or planning a terrorist act or acts. Continue Reading →

A European colleague of mine lives and works in India. Recently, he came to visit. His story was unbelievable. For the last few years, every day, day after day, he, his wife, and his wife’s family have been harassed and attacked by Muslim marauders. Both his property and his medical clinic have been attacked; his Hindu wife and relatives have had their cows stolen and slaughtered, their outbuildings destroyed, their farm property taken over. The police would not help. He had to hire private security to guard his free clinic. Finally, Muslims attacked the clinic when it was filled with patients (including, of course, Muslim patients). At the last moment, before the clinic was entirely overrun, the police reluctantly came to his aid. He had to pay many bribes, pull many strings—and still, the matter is far from over.
He did not want me to write about this. “It is simply too dangerous for a Hindu to describe, accurately, what Muslims are doing to us in our own country.” He assured me that neither the government nor the media could be counted on to “do the right thing here. The media will not say that Muslims are criminally aggressive. They are too afraid to say so. They know there will be rioting. It’s already happened.”

Christians and members of other minority religions are being treated as second-class citizens, said Father Mario Rodrigues, the Lahore-based director of Catholic Mission.

“I appeal to organisations and countries which are giving aid to government of Pakistan for flood victims to allocate separate or special funds for Christian flood victims and transfer it to Caritas Pakistan or Bishops Conference of Pakistan for food, tents and medical facilities,” he said in a statement. Tehran – The speaker of Iran’s parliament said Monday that Muslim nations worldwide would not remain silent on Koran burnings in the United States, describing them as “an unprecedented crime.””The US is quite aware of the fact that the Muslim nations will not remain silent as far as one of their most important sanctities is concerned,” Ali Larijani said in a statement on behalf of parliament.The US Christian minister Terry Jones called off his proposed Koran burning scheduled for Saturday, but Iran said copies of the Koran were burned in some parts of the US.State television showed footage of an English-speaking man with an American accent burning a copy of the Koran but did not clarify the date and location of the incident.Iran insisted the US government was responsible for the burnings, saying President Barack Obama did not explicitly condemn the plan itself but said only that such a move would endanger the lives of US soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq.However, Obama did ask the minister, Terry Jones, to call off the burning, saying it was “completely contrary to our values as Americans” and violated the country’s ideals of religious freedom and religious tolerance.But Iran claimed Washington backed the plan. “We warn the US government to drop its support for this unprecedented crime and savage act; otherwise, it should await a resolute reply by world Muslims,” Larijani warned in his statement carried by the ILNA news agency.Students from several Tehran universities are to gather Monday in front of the US interest section of the Swiss embassy in northern Tehran to protest the Koran burnings.Switzerland represents the interests of the US in Iran because Tehran and Washington have had no diplomatic ties for more than three decades.Larijani also accused Iran’s archfoe Israel of being the main element behind the Koran-burning plans, echoing remarks by Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.
India: 11 Killed In Protests In Kashmir

At least 11 people were killed Sept. 13 during Koran demonstrations and anti-government protests across Indian Kashmir, according to police officials, Reuters reported. The incident marks the largest single death toll from protests in Kashmir in years, the police said. Seven people were killed when police fired on a group of Muslim protesters denouncing reports of Koran burning in the United States.
