Rotterdam: Top official has links to radical Turkish organization

from Islam in Europe:

A top official in Rotterdam, Bilal Taner, is in contact with a Turkish radical-Islamist organization, which is fiercely anti-Israeli and anti-American, openly supports the Hamas terror organization and glorifies martyrdom for Jihadists.

The warm personal connection with Rotterdam senior adviser Bilal Taner was recently clarified when he was extensively congratulated in an orthodox-religious manner on the Haksöz Haber website for the birth of his daughter. This website serves as a platform for radical Islamists, anti-Israeli and anti-American authors. The radical Turkish movement reject societies which are not based on the Koran.

The International Institute for Counter-Terrorism wrote in a 2005 report that “Haksöz is a Turkish-language Jihad website which glorifies martyrdom, calls for resistance against the occupation in Iraq and the Palestinian territories and shows torture scenes in Iraq”. The website shows photos of dead Hamas members with titles such as “to the light of the Koran” and “The martyrs light our way.”

The movement supports the armed struggle of Hamas, Which is called a terrorist organization by the EU. In the German-language American Jewish Committee 2006 report “Antisemitism – Made in Iran” (Antisemitismus – Made in Iran) it says: “The goals of Haksöz include uniting Muslims in the battle against Israel and the United States”.

The orthodox-religious congratulations to ‘our brother in Rotterdam’ is signed by prominent members of the Turkish Hasöz Haber movement. Several of the congratulations to the Rotterdam policy official come from important activists who were passengers on the Mavi Marmaris, one of the ship in the flotilla which recently tried to break through the Gaza blockade. The attempt ended in a bloody encounter with the Israeli navy where several people were killed. The dead activists are honored as martyrs by Haksöz.

Denmark’s burning

From Press Europe:

21 September 2010 Jyllands-Posten Aarhus

Jyllands-Posten, 21 September 2010

“Danish ghettos ravaged by fire,” alerts the Jyllands-Posten. Every week in troubled Danish neighbourhoods, four fires on average burn down kindergartens, trash containers, cars and motor scooters, reports the Danish daily, based on fire department reports in the country’s three biggest cities. According to one sociologist quoted in the paper, these acts are perpetrated by a hard core of ethnic youths who want their neighbourhoods to “take on the image of a dangerous ghetto”. Fewer than 1% of the arsonists are ever apprehended.

Thoughts Are Free

This, from Sept. 19th Gates of Vienna, presents a very interesting poll result about the nature of Austria today.

Fully 2/3rds of Austrian citizens feel that Austria is at least partially, totalitarian and people may not speak their true political opinions without fear.

Before the Baron’s excellent article, I will post that short clip of Christopher Hitchens speaking on Austria and its slide into authoritarian anti-free-speech mentality.

The Austrian commentator Andreas Unterberger sees something ominous in the latest public opinion poll in his country. It does not bode well for freedom of speech in Austria.

Our Austrian correspondent AMT points out the implications for Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff, who is facing a hate-speech charge for speaking the truth about Islam:

This commentary by Andreas Unterberger is so close to the mark in light of the witch-hunt against Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff that it is scary. However, what is even more worrying is the fact that no one in the print MSM has mentioned this poll. Once again, the only conclusion to be drawn from all this is to completely ignore and distrust the MSM.

The question remains: Since one may assume they know about this poll, how fast will the political elite tighten the screws?

Many thanks to JLH for translating Dr. Unterberger’s commentary:

Two-Thirds Already See Austria As Half Totalitarian

September 13, 2010
by Andreas Unterberger

Never in recent years has an opinion poll offered such a depressing result. In essence, it says nothing less than that two-thirds of Austrians already regard their country as a half totalitarian system, in which it is no longer possible to express a political opinion without fear. Three years ago, one-third were of this opinion.

That is the result of a not yet published opinion poll by the renowned Linz Imas Institute, which is even causing consternation among the members of the institute. The specific question was: “What is your impression: in Austria can you really speak without fear about what you think of political, historical, or cultural subjects or is it better to hold your opinion, because you may have to reckon on consequences?”

The formulation of this question pinpoints one essential nucleus of a totalitarian system. As distinct from merely authoritarian, undemocratic systems, which are concentrated on the exercise of power, totalitarian states also wish to control the opinions of their subjects. In this process, naturally, they cannot control thoughts, but can control expressions of opinion on important political questions.

To the question cited above, no less than 65% of Austrians reply either “better to be quiet” (25%) or “it depends what the problem is (40%), while a mere 31% still say, “You can speak without fear.”

A shocking result that should set off alarms with every freedom-oriented person. This poll should have one imperative consequence. Besides the constitutional reforms for the purpose of simplifying the constitution, Austria just as urgently needs a constitutional convention with the central purpose of restoring freedom of expression in this land.

While some jurists and politicians try to argue that freedom of expression reigns throughout Austria, the more than significant numbers of this poll speak a completely different language. Much more decisive than whether one of our most important basic rights is on paper in some list of human rights is the reality: whether people are convinced that freedom of expression exists. All totalitarian dictatorships continually present paper constitutions showing that basic rights are secured. Continue Reading →

Teachers have been told in guidelines that Muslims would not be permitted to wear the niqab, the garment covering the entire body except for slits across the eyes. The guidance, circulated in Ireland by bishops among more than 450 schools this week, said that although staff should respect the religious rights of non-Catholics, it was “unsatisfactory for a teacher not to be able to see and engage properly with a pupil whose face was covered”.

“No pupil or staff member should be prevented from wearing a religious symbol or garment in accordance with their tradition, for example, the hijab [headscarf] for Muslim girls and the turban for Sikh boys,” said the document called “Guidelines on the Inclusion of Students of Other Faiths in Catholic Secondary Schools”.

Student raped and left naked by roadside in Manchester

BBC

A Manchester student has been raped, beaten and left naked by the roadside in an attack police believe could have been carried out by a serial offender.

They have now appealed to students in the Fallowfield area not to walk home alone and say the woman may have been stabbed with a knitting needle.

Police described the man who pushed his victim into a car on Amhurst Road as Asian and overweight.

The woman was subjected to an “horrific” sexual attack, police said.

The woman was also left with injuries to her back and eye after being hit with a weapon similar to a skewer or knitting needle, detectives said.

Swedish Shoe Co. loves diversity but if you don’t agree, please buy elsewhere.

Here is some flaming hypocrisy. These industrialists who stand for nothing in particular, feel that if you voted for SD then you should not buy from them. This is a new tactic indeed. On the one hand, I can easily mock them for the usual ‘We believe in diversity of everything except opinion’ sort of thing so typical from the left, and then, there is one possible defence.

If they really feel the SD party is Nazi like, then I can see them wanting not to profit by it in any way, and act as they might hope they would have acted during the rise of the Third Reich. I actually think there is some integrity in that. My personal feeling is that the SD party is one of pure self defence in Sweden. Kent Ekeroth is a very decent man and I have subtitled his speeches here on Vlad before, and find them to be classically liberal, which today of course is mislabelled: “Far Right Wing”

So in essence, I don’t particularly fault these men for their peculiar ‘anti-add’ asking certain people not to buy their products. I just think its a sign of far left indoctrination. In any case, the add is worth seeing.

Three-year-olds being labelled bigots by teachers as 250,000 children accused of racism

I wonder if the soviets were ever this bad.

Teachers are being forced to report children as young as three to the authorities for using alleged ‘racist’ language, it was claimed last night.

Munira Mirza, a senior advisor to London Mayor Boris Johnson, said schools were being made to spy on nursery age youngsters by the Race Relations Act 2000.

More than a quarter of a million children have been accused of racism since it became law, she said.

Writing in Prospect magazine, she said: ‘The more we seek to measure racism, the more it seems to grow.

‘Teachers are now required to report incidents of racist abuse among children as young as three to local authorities, resulting in a massive increase of cases and reinforcing the perception that we need an army of experts to manage race relations from cradle to grave.

‘Does this heightened awareness of racism help to stamp it out? Quite the opposite. It creates a climate of suspicion and anxiety.’

The Act compelled 43,000 public authorities, including schools and churches, ‘to promote good relations between persons of different racial groups’. Details of the incidents are logged on databases.

Teachers are allowed to report racism even if the alleged ‘victim’ was not offended or if the child does not understand what they were saying.

Freedom of Information replies obtained by civil liberties group the Manifesto Club show that between 2002 and 2009, 280,000 incidents have been reported.

Turkish government condemns alleged conservative Muslim attack on Istanbul art gallery

With thanks to proud kaffir

By The Associated Press (CP) – 17 hours ago

ISTANBUL — Turkey’s Islamic-rooted government has condemned an attack allegedly by conservative Muslims on people drinking cocktails outside an Istanbul art gallery, calling for understanding and respect for one another’s way of life in this largely Muslim but secular country.

Culture Minister Ertugrul Gunay said Thursday his government will seek the heaviest punishment for the culprits who beat and slightly injured five guests drinking in the street outside the gallery in Istanbul’s Tophane district on Tuesday evening. Alcohol is forbidden in Islam.

Gunay called on the gallery to the respect family values of the neighbourhood while also urging respect for different lifestyles and their right to be and work in that area.

Turkey is aspiring to become the first Muslim member of the European Union.
