Canada has recognized same-sex “marriages” since 2005, and now apparently is preparing to take the next step in the “progressive” movement, with arguments scheduled in coming days before the equivalent of a state Supreme Court on a plan to repeal laws against polygamy and bigamy.
The CBC has told the story of Zoe Duff, a director of the Canadian Polyamory Advocacy Association, who has two male common-law partners and believes Canada’s polygamy laws need to be stricken because they don’t permit her to live her chosen lifestyle.
The situation involving the Vancouver Island woman is expected to be the subject of hearings planned before the British Columbia Supreme Court over the coming weeks.

If the advocates for multiple partners are successful in the provincial court, their next hurdle would be the Canadian Charter, where Section 293 of the Criminal Code at this point still bans polygamy and threatens offenders with a five-year prison term. Section 290 makes a similarly serious crime of bigamy.
Observers note that American values appear to be following Canada’s down the slippery slope of lifestyle choices.

Interview with Benny Morris
Remember the fellow from the panel on Israel with the Islamic Brotherhood guy who actually made sense at the end? His name is Benny Morris and he was a leftist and former supporter of the Muslims and Palestinians who eventually let the facts run him over like a steam roller.
There are readers of vlad, one of whom put me on to this interview, who know much more about him than I do, and I hope will post what they know in the comments. Meanwhile, here is an interview with him from 2009 from England’s The Guardian.

A few weeks ago or more, I watched an IQ Squared debate perhaps four times trying to find what I felt was the defining moment in the ABC (I think it was) debate as part of their series, ‘IQ Squared’ where Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Douglas Murray took the negative on the proposition, ‘Islam is a religion of peace’. Below, is the footage I felt best summarized both sides. The positive side read a passage of Koran, and Ayaan Hirsi Ali read the next line of the same verse showing in fact, that the yes side had totally misrepresented it.

Here is something unusual. A debate between 2 parties entirely done in the comments. I look forward to reading it. Keep it civil gentleman, unless you don’t want to then don’t. Always better to show your real feelings than fake ones people might be more willing to digest I suspect.

Show #2 US TV, Is Islam a religion of peace?
This one seems to be a great deal better than the recent ABC one that was aired last week. Despite the all star cast, it fell somewhat short of expectations. This one which was recorded today in New York, although I have not seen it all in its entirety yet, seems much better and to the point. it also features Ayaan Hirsi Ali for the ‘not’ side as well as Douglass Murray.

Internal Dissent: Should Canada’s military pay for a full-time Muslim advisory panel?

Every morning, the National Post editorial board start their work day by discussing the assignments that lie ahead — editorial topics, blog posts, op-ed columns, etc. Typically, the process is a swift, unremarkable division of work load and writing duties amongst the editorial board members and columnists with a known interest in timely news items. Today, while discussing the decision by National Defence Minister Peter MacKay to cancel a planned speech by Imam Zijad Delic, sharp divisions emerged between Comment section editor Jonathan Kay and Post columnist Barbara Kay. Their discussion is reproduced below in truncated form.
Barbara Kay: Why is there a paid “Muslim Working Group” permanently embedded in at National Defence, whose job it is to advise the government on their foreign policy wherever it touches on areas of Muslim density? Why not a “Christian Working Group” or a “Sikh Working Group”? Can you imagine if there were a “Jewish Working Group” to advise on the Middle East? Don’t make me laugh. To me this is a scandal, and I don’t understand why it has not been addressed. Some of the people in this group hold very insalubrious views or are attached to groups with discomfiting agendas.
Jonathan Kay: If we were at war with people who claimed to be fighting for Sikhism, or Judaism, or Christianity, it would be perfectly legitimate and beneficial for Defence to have working groups that would help them understand how best to wage the battle against those fighting under the banner of those creeds. I don’t know why the DND’s effort in this area is a matter of controversy among Canadian conservatives — unless it were a forum for radicals, which, given MacKay’s action in this case, it clearly is not.
Barbara: Should we have had a German working group during the Second World War? If the government wishes to know the views of Muslims — not self-appointed spokespeople, which these members are — they can canvas them in any number of ways. Or they can hire an ad hoc consultant for discrete problems. And from what I have seen, non-Muslim experts are more objective on Muslim cultures than many Muslims are. Once you have embedded a group in your department, you are going to find it hard to disagree with what they tell you and still maintain a collegial relationship. Sorry, but this is an unacceptable commingling of church and state, and I consider it indefensible for any religious group to have such an entitlement. Nobody approached Tarek Fatah or Salim Mansur to be part of this group, which tells you a lot right there. Why not include these experts, some of Canada’s most reasonable, patriotic Muslims? On book burning and sanctimony
All the bloggers and pundits who write on Islam seem to be weighing in with an opinion on whether or not this US pastor should have his little Koran burning day. For the most part, everyone seems to be against it with a plethora of false equivalence and moral high handedness to justify their opposition. However, I don’t give a damn. I think you should be able to burn any book you want. In fact, if I had my way, everyone would both read Qu’oran and then burn it. I don’t think people would understand why it should be burned till they have read it.
Besides, to paraphrase Alan West:
“When tolerance is a one way street, its actually suicide.”
I say burn the Koran. That seems to get their attention. It isn’t as if not burning it will stop the hundreds of thousands if not millions of Muslims who chant “death to America” every morning before breakfast or ethnically cleanse non-Muslims out of various cities towns and villages across the Islamic world.
Lets compare and contrast a bit shall we? A nobody preacher in Florida who is going to burn a few books compared to this:

Lets see if we can find a few choice quotes and by the way, the translation I am using was approved by Al Azaar, so no games please about it being English.
Qu’oran 4:74 “So let those who sell the present for the life to come fight in the way of allah. Whoever fights in the way of Allah and is killed or conquors, we shall accord him a great reward.”
Qu’oran 9:30 “The Jews say: “Ezra is the son of Allah” and the Christians say: “The Messiah is the son of Allah.” That is their statement, by their mouths; they emulate the statement of the unbelievers of yore. May Allah damn them; how they are perverted.
or could it be…
Qu’oran 9:123 “O you who believe, fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them see how harsh you can be. Know that Allah is with the righteous”
These are just three of literally hundreds of Koranic instructions to kill unbelievers and painfully I might add. So if burning a few of them gets the book some of the attention it so richly deserves and for that matter, that we in the west so urgently need to understand, (To quote that BNP manatee, “Islam is not just Christianity with a towel on its head”) then burn them. And those who have been dumping on this nobody pastor in Florida to give themselves a fresh coat of sanctimony, well they should be ashamed of themselves. It is just a book and burning it is a symbolic act and a much needed one. It is not the same as calling for it to be banned, something which really is un-American and does run against the core values of Western liberal democracy.
Ill sign off with this little quote by Churchill on what he felt Mine Kampf was:
“the new Koran of faith and war: turgid, verbose, shapeless, but pregnant with its message”,
Maybe if we had burned a few copies of that it would have attracted enough attention to get America into the war in time to stop that Austrian bastard at Poland.

BBC propaganda answered. The Crusades.
Frankly, to properly answer all the misinformation, disinformation and outright lies of the BBC propaganda video about the crusades and middle ages, I would need a month at least and the result would be absurd as I would have to stop the video every 90 frames and cut in with what is wrong. So I had to content myself with addressing some of the worst outright lies of this video and one major ‘oversight’.
I am hoping Fjordman is going to send me more specifics about how this deception is being put upon the British public sometime this week which I will publish here, but in the meantime I strongly suggest a decent book on the crusades such as The New Concise History of the Crusades which is an excellent book and actually factual and good history methodologically speaking.
Meanwhile. here is the best I could do with the BBC propaganda in a couple of days. One thing I can say for it, it certainly proves Bat Ye’or correct when she describes the deal many western nations and specifically England made with the Arab world.
