All the bloggers and pundits who write on Islam seem to be weighing in with an opinion on whether or not this US pastor should have his little Koran burning day. For the most part, everyone seems to be against it with a plethora of false equivalence and moral high handedness to justify their opposition. However, I don’t give a damn. I think you should be able to burn any book you want. In fact, if I had my way, everyone would both read Qu’oran and then burn it. I don’t think people would understand why it should be burned till they have read it.
Besides, to paraphrase Alan West:
“When tolerance is a one way street, its actually suicide.”
I say burn the Koran. That seems to get their attention. It isn’t as if not burning it will stop the hundreds of thousands if not millions of Muslims who chant “death to America” every morning before breakfast or ethnically cleanse non-Muslims out of various cities towns and villages across the Islamic world.
Lets compare and contrast a bit shall we? A nobody preacher in Florida who is going to burn a few books compared to this:

These are just three of literally hundreds of Koranic instructions to kill unbelievers and painfully I might add. So if burning a few of them gets the book some of the attention it so richly deserves and for that matter, that we in the west so urgently need to understand, (To quote that BNP manatee, “Islam is not just Christianity with a towel on its head”) then burn them. And those who have been dumping on this nobody pastor in Florida to give themselves a fresh coat of sanctimony, well they should be ashamed of themselves. It is just a book and burning it is a symbolic act and a much needed one. It is not the same as calling for it to be banned, something which really is un-American and does run against the core values of Western liberal democracy.

Maybe if we had burned a few copies of that it would have attracted enough attention to get America into the war in time to stop that Austrian bastard at Poland.

Generally I’m against burning books. But in this case, when not burning the koran is an indication that Western nations have caved, and are cowards and will not defend their own religion, but will bow down to the koran, then I’m in favour of it.
Most Muslims will see that even though we may be occupying a couple of Muslim countries, on the political front, we have surrendered, and admitted that Islam is more ‘powerful’ an ideology then anything we have in the West.

Can you tell me where I need to go on the internet or if you can send me the video regarding Muslims killing and beating Christians as they are dying so horrificly? Where did this take place and when? I am furious at ALL television and radio news sources who knew of this and chose not to even try to verify it, much less report it. Americans MUST be told the truth instead of this pablum white-washing public image they put up for Muslims. If I had that vid I would spread it to a lot of people who would in turn do the same. I have very grave concerns that, along with help from this impostor POTUS, they are somehow going to truly invade our country, perhaps with help from Iran and from Russia; that an EMP weapon may detonate over our cities and bases, and that the only working weapons we will have will be our rifles and pistols, etc; all electronic weapons would be useless. I am amazed that U.S. patriot citizens haven’t started shooting them on sight, along with all the illegal Mexicans. I am quite sure it is soon going to come to that. I couldn’t agree with you more. . . I’ve never seen this much sanctimony and hypocrisy by “our” side until yesterday when discussions got very heated.
Most of the anti-Jihad crowd who was against the burning cited exactly what you said, and attempted to relate the issue to previous book burnings by Nazis or of cases of censorship– i.e., Catcher in the Rye, etc.
I’ve tried to point out that burning privately owned Korans (not confiscated from victimized Muslims) is a political statement not akin to censorship issues at all– he’s not attempting to ban the Koran. . . he’s not attempting to censor the material and make it unavailable for review. He’s doing what every protester throughout the ages has done. . . non-violent provocation. It’s not “needless”.
My thought, though, for everyone trying to equate this to censorship type burnings– why are they all okay with Geert Wilders’ desire to ban the Koran? We all love Wilders; he’s a hero– and nobody condemns him for desiring to ban the book. Yet, this guy wants to throw some copies onto a fire to make a political point, and he is demonized.
Merkel gave Westegaard an award for bravery yesterday regarding the cartoon crisis. . . yet, she also took that time to condemn the pastor in Florida and also claimed it was needless provocation. The cartoons weren’t also, then, needless provocation? Hello? Did I miss the anti-Jihad hypocrisy memo?
Anybody who speaks out against Islam should be embraced. Here in America we still have the 1st Amendment– people in some areas aren’t permitted to burn the Koran due to hate speech laws. We HAVE the right and freedom to do this, still. . . . if anything, we should take the opportunity to take advantage of every freedom we have while we still have it. . . to ensure that we always have it.
I think the reason our side can embrace Wilders despite his desire to ban the book and eliminate the people’s ability to obtain it, and the reason people can embrace Westergaard even though he also did some “needless provocation”, is because they are considered “cool”. They are liberals, not religious, they are “hip”. . . everyone would desire a dinner party invitation if they were guests.
Not so with this fundamentalist Christian from Florida. . . nobody wants to go to a cocktail party with him. . . he makes everyone a bit uncomfortable with his fervent beliefs, he’s not cool, he’s way too religious for our liking.
So he’s easy to marginalize.
One more point, too. Patraeus even came out (as you know) to persuade the pastor to cancel his event– citing the danger his troops would then be under.
Most of the anti-burning crowd used this as a reason to be against the burning– they didn’t want it anyways, either, but Patraeus’s comments were a good reason to get behind. . . and they all did (public figures, too).
Yet, the very next day, Rauf slyly used the VERY same argument on FOX when arguing for the mosque. NOBODY pointed out the likelihood (I THINK) that Rauf probably figured, “Hey, we’re okay with Patraeus using this argument– it could work for me, too!” I think Rauf misjudged, obviously, because he’s not a military General. . . and the public rightly took his statement as the veiled threat that it could be interpreted as being. But, I don’t think he would have even SAID such a thing if Patraeus hadn’t used the identical argument when pressuring the pastor to cancel the event.
Kendra thank you for the excellent comment. Wilders, as I understand it, is calling for the banning of the Koran on the basis that under Dutch law, Hitlers tome is banned and therefore, if Holland is to be consistent, the Koran must also be banned as the content is the same in terms of Dutch hate law. However he isn’t actually calling for it to be banned unless I missed that memo. I have seen him explain this in some videos much better than he usually does however.
As to Imam Grima Wormtoungue Fauf on CNN, I am working on that video now. So many lies, so little time.

Atique I was dead certain you are from a Muslim background as the type of false moral equivalence you use, is a common tactic amongst Muslims. They seem unable to understand that actions and words are not equatable. Specifically, books by H.P. Lovecraft which could be said to be religious in that they are full of supernatural horrors and gods and demons and so on, are not relevent to any of these debates because no one is killing anyone insisting that H.P. Lovecraft was his motive. Hell the closest you can come is Charles Manson who claimed his inspiration for his murders was the Beatles song, Helter Skelter. But Islam today and always with a brief slow-down during the period of European colonization has always used its ‘holy book’ as its prime motive for the constant horror and hatred, death and slavery it perpetrates on itself and the world since the time Mohamed pretended he was visited by an Angel.
In essence, you do not need to apologize although it is nice to see. The OT and NT are full of horror should you choose to take it in that context. But it simple doesn’t matter. I chose not to defend those books because in a way, you are correct. Not in a very meaningful way, but in a way. Your history is also equally derived from communist critical theory and missed the most salient facts. Facts such as Columbus wished to find a trade route to India, a great civilization, without having to deal with the utter barbarity of Muslims who robbed killed and enslaved all they could who passed that way.

I am a first time commenter and a relatively new visitor, so please forgive any faux pas I may commit. First, I am enthralled by your blog already. Next, I am deeply interested in the effect of Islam on the world at large, which appears to be rather deleterious so far. I tried to find the clip you feature both at Kitman and at TruthTube and have not been able to so far. I very much would like to direct my friends and acquaintances to it but would like to be sure it is a bona fide video as you describe. It is truly harrowing. I wonder why George Clooney has never mentioned that the chief prosecutors of the genocide in Darfur are Muslims conducting a Muslim jihad. I have done a little research of my own and it is also alleged to be a campaign of gross racism. Is it more likely a mixture of the two? In any event, I wish more of us would see the threat early rather than waiting until it is too late. It costs so many innocent lives, needlessly.
