A Toronto Islamic school whose teaching materials disparaged Jews and encouraged boys to keep fit for jihad will not face criminal charges but police said their investigation had identified passages of syllabus books they found concerning.
A York Regional Police report outlining the hate crimes investigation of the East End Madrassah said a review of 30 school syllabus books found portions that “challenged some of Canada’s core values” and “suggested intolerance,” even if they were not criminal.
The report also confirmed some of the school materials originated from books published by Iranian foundations, one of which is an alleged front for the Islamic regime. The Iranian-origin passages referred to Jews as “crafty” and “treacherous,” and contrasted Islam with “the Jews and the Nazis.”
Police held Principal Masuma Jessa and Imam Syed Mohammed Rizvi responsible. “As leaders in their respective roles the two must accept responsibility for failing to appropriately screen the learning material. Although not held criminally responsible, the complaint has raised a legitimate concern and has prompted change.”

The father of a Jewish family was badly beaten and the family home was completely trashed on Sunday by local youths in Marseille, France.
Residents in their Jewish neighborhood are stunned following the incident.
Marseilles is home to some 80,000 Jews – 10 percent of the general population but a small fraction compared to the 250,000 Muslims with whom they also live. It has been relatively quiet France’s second-largest city this year, compared to other areas in the country where violent anti-Semitism has been on the rise.
Last month the SPCJ (Service de Protection de la Communaute Juive) security agency for French Jewry reported a 45 percent rise in anti-Semitic attacks since 2011, mostly by Muslims.
This incident began when two youths parked their car in a Jewish family’s private garage.
When the family saw the unfamiliar vehicle they called police, and the car was towed. Upon finding their vehicle gone and learning it had been towed, the youths became angry.

In December 2010, after spending two decades in Egypt as an academic and translator of the works of Egyptian Nobel Laureate, the late Naguib Mahfouz, ex-pat Detroit native, Raymond Stock was denied entry and deported by the Mubarak regime. He had apparently crossed the line when in 2009, he authored a Foreign Policy article, “Very, Very Lost in Translation,” about the anti-Semitic rants of former Mubarak cultural minister, Farouk Hosni, who was jockeying to be nominated as head of UNESCO. Stock wrote of Hosni:
To say that Farouk Hosni doesn’t much like Israel is putting it lightly. According to the Anti-Defamation League, he has called it “inhuman,” and “an aggressive, racist, and arrogant culture, based on robbing other people’s rights and the denial of such rights.” He has accused Jews of “infiltrating” world media. And in May 2008, Hosni outdid even himself, telling the Egyptian parliament that he would “burn right in front of you” any Israeli books found in the country’s libraries.
Less surprising but also sadly true is that Hosni’s opinions about Israeli culture are par for the course among Egypt’s intelligentsia, for whom 30 years of official peace with the Jewish state, the longest of any Arab country, have done virtually nothing to moderate its rampant Judeophobia. If anything, the opposite might be true.

Threats against Oslo’s Jewish community now form part of the indictment against Arslan Ubaydullah Maroof Hussain, reports say.
Mr Hussain was arrested, Friday, after writing statements on his Facebook group that left Norwegian Jews feeling targeted.
In his post, the accused wrote comments referring to the incident in 2006 where shots were fired at an Oslo Synagogue.
Researcher Øivind Kopperud does not believe that Ubaydullah Hussain is alone in his views.
He believes the police must view Mr Hussain’s comments as a wake-up call.
“They must listen to the perceived threat related by the Jewish Community representative. It is extremely important that police take the threats seriously, this cannot be dismissed,” Mr Kopperud told Vårt Land.

Police are to have decided an arrest last night, after it became known that Ubaydullah Hussain, leader of Profetens Ummah, threatened jews in Norway.
This morning, police took action against the apartment of Ubaydullah Hussain, leader of the islamist organisation Profetens Ummah.
According to the information obtained by NRK [state tv/radio], police decided to detain Hussain, after yesterday having threatened jews in Norway.
Today around 11, police took action against Hussain’s apartment in Bjerke, Oslo. NRK’s reporter on location tells that police were present with three vehicles and eight officers.
Police were equipped with shields, sledgehammer and and axe, ready to enter the apartment with force, should this become necessary. After a while, however, one of Hussain’s family members is said to have opened the front door.
‘I can confirm that there has been police action at Bjerke. I cannot say anything else about the background of this action, other than that the individual we were looking for was not there’, says operasjonsleder i Oslo politidistrikt, Sven Martin Ege, to NRK.no.
Ege refers to the matter being investigated by Stovner politistasjon. Stovner police does not wish to comment on this matter.
This morning, police took action against Ubaydullah Hussain’s apartment in Oslo.
Yesterday, Hussain published the following message on Facebook:
‘I will give them protection, I. InshAllah. As soon as I have passed the hunter test and got an AK47.’
The background for this message was a VG article about norwegian jews not having police protection and feeling insecure after terror attacks in other european countries.
‘This is an ambiguous commentary, and it must be up to whoever to speculate about the comment’s meaning. I neither want to confirm nor to deny that this is a threat’, said Hussain last night to NRK.
He does not exclude either a new attack against the Oslo synagogue.
‘They are part of an occupational power, Israel. As long as a group, religion or people is in a physical war with islam, then they are our enemies. Any group or country involved in war with another party must expect a response’, said Hussain.
Last night, Oslo politidistrikt informed NRK that they had opened penal proceedings, and that they would start an investigation.
PST [secret service] was also notified, and they intended to continue assessing the situation.
Upon a question posed by NRK earlier this month if Hussain would warn authorities, in case he knew about a planned terror attack in Norway, he responded: ‘No comment.’
Hussain is a well-known figure in the radical moslem milieu. He has said earlier that ‘the world needs a new Osama bin Laden’.
He leads the radical islamist group Profetens Ummah, which – among other things – in september had organised the demonstration before the american embassy against the Mohammed film.
Hussain has also claimed that the majority of norwegian nationals who have taken to Syria to fight against Assad are members of his organisation.
Ubaydullah Hussain was among the demonstrators outside the american embassy in september.

Turkish schoolchildren in Istanbul received a series of books denouncing scientific figures, including one denying the theory of evolution and describing Charles Darwin as a big-nosed Jew, the Financial Times reported Friday.According to the paper, the books were distributed last week to hundreds of students in the Maltepe district of Turkey’s capital after the government-affiliated local education authority approved their content.
The book on Darwin reportedly states that the evolutionary biologist “Had two problems: First he was a Jew; second, he hated his prominent forehead, big nose and misshapen teeth.”
Darwin was not Jewish.
A separate book on Albert Einstein reportedly describes the physicist as “filthy and slovenly” and accuses him of eating soap. “The sad part is during that time the Gestapo was putting Jews into ovens and making them into soap,” the book adds.

Rumors of a UN decision to re-introduce Holocaust studies in schools run by UNRWA — the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian refugees — have raised the ire of Jordanian teachers, who say they will refuse to teach history that “harms the Palestinian cause.”
In a statement issued Monday, the Executive Committee of UNRWA teachers in Jordan responded to rumors that Holocaust studies would be reintroduced this year to the enrichment curriculum on conflict resolution, which is taught in schools operated by the UN agency in Palestinian refugee camps.
“We condemn this decision, which equates the butcher and the victim,” read the teachers’ statement, demanding instead to introduce classes on the Palestinian “right of return” to Israel and the history of the 1948 war with Israel.
Some 2 million Palestinian refugees are registered with UNRWA’s Jordan offices. The UN agency operates 172 schools in 10 refugee camps across the kingdom, serving a total of over 122,000 students.

“We shall monitor the curriculum being taught under the title ‘concepts of human rights’ [which is] aimed at reducing [Palestinian] students’ awareness of the right of return,” read the statement.
“Teaching UNRWA students about the so-called ‘Holocaust’ as part of human rights harms the Palestinian cause… and changes the students’ views regarding their main enemy, namely the Israeli occupation.”
Since 2009, Hamas in Gaza has actively opposed UNRWA’s attempts to introduce the Holocaust into school curriculum in Gaza, claiming that it contradicted Palestinian culture.
According to Al-Ghad, UNRWA denied any intention of introducing the Holocaust as part of its enrichment courses this year, claiming that it abides by the school curriculum of the refugees’ host countries.
A spokesman for UNRWA was unavailable for comment at time of publication.

Egypt’s foremost Muslim Brotherhood official called on the Arab world Thursday to replace negotiations with Israel with “holy Jihad,” claiming that if Jews are allowed to pray on the Temple Mount they will destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and supplant it with the third temple.
Mohammed Badie, Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood, declared in a public message published by Egyptian daily Al-Ahram that “the Zionists only understand force,” and that Arabs cannot hope to achieve justice from the Jews “through the corridors of the United Nations or through negotiations.”
