If you want to become a Canadian, you’ll have to show your face.

Under sweeping regulations that take effect Monday, Muslim women will have to remove their niqabs or any other face-coverings such as burkas before reciting the oath of citizenship to become Canadian, QMI Agency has learned.

Those participating in citizenship ceremonies – the final step in the process to officially become a Canadian – will be given two warnings to unveil themselves.

The first would be upon arrival, when a department official will explain the requirement. If the person refuses, a citizenship judge will ask the individual to show her face before reading the oath.

If the person refuses the second request, the judge will ask them to leave, putting their citizenship in jeopardy. But they will be given other opportunities at future citizenship ceremonies if they change their mind. Continue Reading →

Interview #2 with Robert Spencer in Australia

Last night (EST) I had the opportunity again, to interview Robert Spencer via Skype as he is one day away from the end of his 2 week Australian tour. This time like last time, he was with the blog owner-operator from Winds of Jihad, ‘Sheik Yermami’.

I was especially interested in his solution to the burka debate taking place pretty much all over the Western world now, as I have had different opinions than most on the matter. Robert answers it in detail.

Please feel free to send the link out, download and reupload this video to your own youtube channels etc. so long as it is intact.

It seems that some Westerners are waking up.

I have been saying since I started this site, that the solution to most of our current day issues concerning islam, leftism and every other attempt to force totalitarian rule upon us, is more freedom not less.

This is a great example of this.  Given the chance, US advertisers chose not to support Islamic propaganda and as a consequence, if freedom is applied, the show will fail. But in Canada, since the CBC gets 1.66 Billion dollars of taxpayers money a year and so far, doesn’t have to account for a penny of it, and is also exempt from all the regulations and organizations which govern Canadian media that all other broadcast media has to abide by, Canada’s preposterous and offensive-to-the-truth Islamic propaganda coup, ‘Little Mosque on the Prairie’ still does very well.

The whole face-covering-in-public thing could also be solved by allowing business to deny access to women wearing burkas should they choose to for their own reasons, and if the government stops making exceptions for people in burkas (I didn’t say women, because sometime it is men disguising themselves as women for criminal purposes) where people in tinted motorcycle helmets would never be allowed.

GILGIT: A burqa-clad man taking an examination illegally under his wife’s name at a testing centre at Gilgit was arrested by police, witnesses told The Express Tribune on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at an examination centre for women constables.

Eyewitnesses said that the veiled man left his seat and attempted to run away when a female police constable supervising the examinations approached him to check his identity. However, male police officials who had cordoned off the area immediately caught him and detained him for investigation.

“He was sitting amid dozens of veiled women taking tests,” said a witness, adding that his ‘dubious’ acts while taking the test led to his arrest.

France: Muslim veil, also banned in private nurseries

ANSAMED:

(ANSAmed) – PARIS, OCTOBER 27 – Private children’s nurseries in France can also ban their employees from wearing a Muslim-style veil: this is the ruling passed down yesterday by the Versailles court of appeal. According to the French judges, as well as state schools, private children’s nurseries come under the ban of religious symbols. At the Baby-Loup nursery in the working class area of Chanteloup-les-Vignes (near Versailles), an employee was fired in 2008 because she refused to remove her veil.

The employee sought redress from the courts, but they ruled against her case. Lawyer Richard Malka has stated that this ruling by the appeal court is ”a great victory for the secular state”. (ANSAmed).

Police assaulted by burqa-wearer’s husband

 From Deradactie

Belga

Thu 29/09/2011 – 11:38 Police officers in the Brussels municipality of Sint-Joost-ten-Node were attacked by the husband of a woman that refused to remove her burqa. The incident happened on Wednesday after a patrol from the Brussels-North Local Police Service spotted the woman wearing a burqa on the Liedekerkestraat at around 12:35pm.

The wearing burqas and other garments that cover the face has been illegal since legislation on the issue was passed by the Federal Parliament earlier this year.

The police officers asked the woman to remove the part of the burqa that covered her face so that they could identify her. She refused and was asked a second time to show her face.

This met with a furious response from her husband who proceeded to attack the police officers. Continue Reading →

Swiss parliamentarians vote for burqa ban

For the record, I am way against all these kinds of bans. As much as I appreciate Geert Wilders and all like him in Europe, they are making a serious error. The answer to Islam is more freedom not less. If women want to wear nothing or wear a burka that is their right. And it also should be my right to not allow naked women into my business (or allow), or women wearing the symbols of the greatest oppressive movement possibly of all time, Islam.

Obviously all laws banning covering your face in banks and on public transport and so on simply need to be applied to burkas. In other words, no new laws please. Just stop making exceptions to the ones we already have for Muslims. It is so damn simple.

Swiss parliamentarians vote for burqa ban

Swiss parliamentarians approved on Wednesday a far-right move to impose a ban on the burqa or other face coverings in some public places, including on public transport.

With 101 votes against 77, the lower chamber of the house approved the motion titled “masks off!”.

The draft bill will still have to be examined by the upper chamber.

Put forward by Oskar Freysinger, a politician of the Swiss far-right SVP party, the motion requires “anyone addressing a federal, cantonal or communal authority exercising his or her functions, to present themselves with their faces uncovered.”

Burqas would also be banned on public transport, while “authorities can ban or restrict access to public buildings to such individuals in order to guarantee the security of other users.”

Explaining the motion, Freysinger noted that “at a time when insecurity is growing in our streets, more and more people are hiding their faces behind a balaclava, a mask or a burqa.

“This makes it impossible to identify these people, a fact that is particularly troublesome in case of violence or identity checks,” he noted.

France was the first European Union country to impose a ban on the burqa in public places, while Belgium joined it some months later.

On September 16th, the Dutch government also agreed to a ban on the full Islamic veil under a deal with the far-right party of the anti-immigration MP Geert Wilders.

The Burka: not just a piece of cloth. On basic human decency and true respect between the genders.

One of Britain’s leading political critics of Islamisation has spoken out again, this time in opposition to the abomination against women’s rights that is the burka.

The good thing about Abhijit Pandya is his refusal to “take the bait” over Islam. For him suggesting the issue is one of race, culture, or freedom of religion, is erroneous. The encroachments Islam represents are obviously: political; no matter how much Muslims, and others, would like to falsely claim them as “religious”.

This is why it is the duty of politicians to grapple unflinchingly with the subject, and as an Englishman, it’s fantastic to see a second generation immigrant like Pandya robustly proclaiming the traditional values, liberties and freedoms which once made Britain great.

It’s the kind of thing all of us long the political establishment in the UK to have the guts to do. But as the last year’s proven, the stifling paralysis of PC is just as complete under this Conservative-led government, as under the last Labour one.

Why NOT to converse or interact with someone in a burka

From Abhijit Pandya’s blog

Time magazine named her one of most of the important women of the 20th Century stating: ‘she shaped an idea of women for our time; she shook society into a new pattern from which there could be no going back’. ‘She’ was none other than Emmeline Pankhurst, who began the successful movement to have the right to vote for women. [the Suffragettes]
…
The acts of [the] suffragettes [who] rotted in prison on hunger strikes due to their campaigns for their right to vote are greatly diminished not only at the wearing of the burka in Britain today, but in our appalling tacit toleration of it.

Some of us, who are rightly concerned, often, wrongly, merely grind our teeth rather than raise our voices in this time of censorship through political correctness. If this is done through a fear of being branded a racist, this is misconceived- as it simply cannot be racist to want to emancipate a female from oppression, particularly where they are of another race.

Whether one agrees with it or not, much state and social activism has been spent on teaching women about not accepting abuse from their husbands, of not being bullied in relationships and of fighting the idea that a traditional house-wife is not permitted to have ambition outside the home, such as work.
…
I, for one, could never indignify the woman’s rights movement’s women by having a conversation with a woman in a burka. That piece of clothing is a marked symbol of difference not just of cultures, but of a want of a basic human decency that supports true respect between the genders.

Italy approves draft law banning burqas in public

Published On Tue Aug 02 2011

  • Associated Press
ROME—An Italian parliamentary commission has approved a draft law banning women from wearing veils that cover their faces in public.

The draft passed by the constitutional affairs commission Tuesday would prohibit women from wearing a burka, niqab or any other garb that covers the face in public.

The news agency ANSA said third parties who force women to cover their faces in public would be fined about $41,000 and face up to 12 months in jail.

The law was sponsored by Souad Sbai, a Moroccan-born member of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s conservative Freedom People party. ANSA said the opposition voted against the law.

The draft will be forwarded to parliament after the summer recess.
