1,000 Finns rally for an undivided Jerusalem

A contingent over over 1,000 Finns showed up last week at rally in Helsinki to call for Jerusalem to remain the undivided capital of the Jewish state.
Jouni Suninen, a pro-Israel activist who attended the rally in Helsinki, told The Jerusalem Post via e-mail on Wednesday, “ I went there to support the undivided Jerusalem. There were many speakers. I remember Gideon Bolotowski from the Helsinki Jewish Community, Pekka Sartola who has written many books from Israel/ Palestine, MEP (member of European Parliament) Hannu Takkula, in Finland , and well known singer Viktor Klimenko, and some 3-4 other speakers whom I did not know before.
“They spoke briefly and right to the point, expressing in clear terms why Jerusalem must not be divided. In the end a manifest was read, directed to President Halonen and the Finnish Government. It was summary of the speeches held.”
Suninen, who traveled from his hometown Kouvola to attend the rally last week in Helsinki, said that the “Finns are against division of Jerusalem if they know Middle East political history, the Balfour Declaration, the San Remo Convention and the Palestine Mandate. They are for division if they do not know these things.”
Most Finns, he added, “do not know, unfortunately, although we are working hard to spread correct information. Then there are of course religious people who trust on Bible and are against division for religious reasons.”

This is how the Norwegian state run media demonizes people it disagrees with.
The Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten includes the following picture in the article about a new comedy series which debuted last night on Norwegian state TV, NRK. One of the characters chosen for the comedy show (The Social Welfare Office) was a person named ”Fjordlland”, a paraplegic who lost the ability to speak. He’s also typecast as a Nazi and was featured in their the “angry young man special”.
It’s sick. The character is supposed to be the blogger Fjordman, in an attempt to demonize the man through a sick sense of humor. It is part of the process of demonization – the demonization of anyone who has concerns that the authorities do not want to deal with. The idea is to make Fjordman look weak and appear as a convenient punching bag.
It’s also sick and should be an affront to every single person who is a paraplegic and to their relatives. It’s both disgusting and childish on many levels.Nazi humor, funny stuff.
It’s not just for one episode. Apparently, the Nazi Fjordman is a new “recurring character” they have just introduced on their show, a running gag if you will. Also, the Tundra Tabloids has come to find out that NRK is the same channel has tried repeatedly to get an interview with Fjordman. Perhaps he should send them a friendly email asking them to go take a long walk off a very short pier? KGS
AFTENPOSTEN: Norway’s state broadcaster, NRK, is broadcasting the season premier of a comedy show “The welfare office.” ” that’s set to showcase Nazi humor.
When Social Security (tv comedy show) has the season premiere of NRK2 tonight, the entire broadcast 22 July events as a backdrop, and they call tonight’s episode “angry young man special.”
– The broadcast is really dedicated to the terrorist and aspects of him that is perhaps more universal than we like to believe, says presenter Thomas Seltzer in the social security office to Aftenposten.no.

French govt rented a former firemen barracks and gave it to muslim orgs to use as a “Friday mosque”. Most of the muslims use this place now during friday payers. Only a small group of salafist provocateurs were in the streets last friday (around 200, no big deal).
The trick is they have already won, because the Mayor of Paris, Bertrand Delanoë, will build next year a mega islamic center (with 2 mosques inside) with taxpayer money (28 million €) so they just have to keep low profile till they got their new mosques. Muslim leasers called for appeasment, they want their mosques!
So everybody is happy. The muslims because they’ve won, and our dhimmi gov’t won because “they have solved” the street prayer issue. A-holes. Needless to say that renting a building 30000€ per month to a muslim org is forbidden by our law, no one seems to care though.
It’s a sad story when your country rejoices on a defeat, it’s becoming a habit concerning Islam lately.

Muslims defy outdoor prayer ban in France
PARIS — Hundreds of Muslims defied a French ban on outdoor prayer — which came into force Friday –and took to the streets and sidewalks of Paris to pray.
The French government announced Thursday it was banning praying outside, with officials pledging to enforce the ban from Friday.
But 200 Muslims ignored the ban and prayed on the streets in the neighborhood of La Goutte d’Or, Le Parisien newspaper reported.
French interior minister Claude Gueant said he had nothing against Islam but wanted it out of the public eye because France was a secular state.

SUPO investigates threat against Seppo Lehto
Iltalehti: According to terrorism specialists Al Qaeda blogger, Abu Sulaiman al-Nasser, is spreading calls on the Internet to kill the Finnish right-wing extremist.
The threat has landed on the desk of the Finnish Security Police SUPO.
– I am aware of the issue, SUPO Communications Chief Liinu Lehto-Seljavaara confirmed to Iltalehti on Saturday morning.
Al-Nasser, urges Muslims in a message to murder Lehto. The message was reported by the anti-terrorist organizations, SITE and Flashpoint, which, among other things, the follow jihadist activity on the Internet.
Seppo Lehto is known for receiving a two-year and four months sentence on a felony conviction for defamation, agitation against an ethnic group, and breaching the peace of faith.
In addition to Lehto, the Tampere District Court also sentenced another man to conditional imprisonment for the same crimes for a year and two months in May 2008.
Sympathizing with Al-Qaeda
The influential Internet blogger, Abu Sulaiman al-Nasser, was earlier in the news in Finland in June, when a bomb was found near a bridge in West-Pasila, Helsinki, and a firebomb was thrown at the Tapaninvainion Neste Oil station.
Around the same time online messages were published, in which the “global jihad supporters’ praised the deeds and hoping for a continuation.
Message was signed by Abu Sulaiman al-Nasser, whose name was submitted only a week earlier in a threat against Finnish troops serving in Afghanistan.

Friday Prayers at Oulu’s Mosque

65 Degrees North: The international media is full of reports on the growth of ‘fundamentalist Islam.’ European politicians have expressed particular concern about its rise amongst marginalised Muslim immigrants in countries such as Britain – with its 2005 Islamic terrorist bombings – and the Netherlands where the maker of a controversial film about Islam was murdered in 2004.
Muslims have been widely stereotyped as being ‘fundamentalists’ who believe in barbaric punishments and that all non-Muslims are ‘infidels’ who will go to Hell. There are far fewer Muslims in Finland than in Holland but they are a growing minority in Oulu. I went to Oulu’s Mosque for Friday Prayers to see if these stereotypes have any truth in them.

I was welcomed to the mosque – which meets at 1pm in a converted flat near the railway station – by Dr Abdul Mannan. He came to Oulu from Bangladesh to do a doctorate in geochemistry and is now the unpaid ‘Imam’ of Oulu’s mosque.
I was offered tea by a Somalian refugee before the service began. Worshippers came in throughout Abdul’s sermon from the Koran, which he conducted in English, moving into Arabic to say ‘Peace be upon him’ every time he referred to the Prophet Mohammed. By the end of his sermon, there were thirty-four worshippers – all men as females generally worship separately – and the carpeted prayer room was about as full as it was going to get. The attendees were a mixture of ages and nationalities and speaking to them afterwards I found people from Jordan, Somalia, Pakistan, Morocco, Iraq and two native Finns in their early twenties. In addition, there were a few boys playing at the back of the room where there were copies of the Koran.

UPDATE: Ilta Sanomat: terrorist suspects of Somali background
Quoting police sources, Saturday’s edition of the tabloid Ilta Sanomat claims the two persons suspected of terrorist related crimes are a man and woman of Somali background. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), however, has not confirmed the paper’s claim to YLE. Neither did the police give details of the ethnic background of the two suspects at a press conference held on Saturday. The paper also said the suspects were not planning an attack in Finland.
The start of the formal investigation followed a long period of intelligence gathering carried out by the Finnish Security Intelligence Service (Supo). Responsibility for the case was shifted to the National Bureau of Investigation in May of this year. The arrests and searches were carried out as joint NB-SUPO operations and a joint team is continuing investigations.
According to YLE’s information, two prosecutors from the Office of the State Prosecutor have already been named to handle the case. The maximum sentence for the possible charges is eight years imprisonment.

Security forces arrested five Arab-Israeli residents of Daburiyya in the North this month on suspicion of plotting to carry out terrorist attacks on multiple targets, police announced on Thursday.
The arrests were carried out by the northern police district’s central unit in coordination with the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency).
“They planned to attack and IDF soldier and a Border policeman who lived in the village, and selected ‘candidates’ from which they planned to steal weapons and carry out future attacks,” police said.
The suspects are affiliated with the Salifia Jihadiya jihadi group, police added.
