Whatever happened to Free Speech? Cf UAF in Walthamstow and EDL in Westminster –

Readers will remember the appalling way the EDL were treated while exercising our democratic freedom to meet and protest in Walthamstow last month.  Today was set as the return to Walthamstow.

However last week Tommy Robinson and 53 men were arrested on the outskirts of London. Kev Carroll was arrested in Luton. Tommy Robinson remains in custody until after Christmas on charges concerning irregularities to the passport he used to visit the US for the commemoration of 11/9 last month. The other men are charged with conspiracy to cause a breach of the peace and allowed bail, on condition they do not enter East London. Paul Weston, leader of the British Freedom Party who was arrested for potentially causing a breach of the peace wile attempting to visit Tommy in prison has been released without charge.

Next the Home Seecretary Teresa May set a ban on all marches in four London boroughs for 30 days. Those boroughs were Waltham Forest, in order to prevent today’s proposed march, Islington, just in case anyone approached the Finsbury Park Mosque, Tower Hamlets, lest anyone contemplate a demonstration at the East London Mosque, and Newham (site of the proposed Megagmosque). According to the notice on WalthamForest’s website this order prevented ALL marches, except funeral processions and those commonly or customarily held in the area, which would cover something like the local Scouts annual St George’s Day parade. The Home Secretary does not have power to ban static demonstrations. However the Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police issued an order under S14 of the Public Order Act 1986 banning any EDL event in London, other than a permitted rally outside the Houses of Parliament between 1pm and 2pm. One hour only, only in that spot. I was not served with S14 a notice but a man known to me has given me his copy which is below.

The UAF and their subsidiary organisation We Are Waltham Forest decided not to cancel their demo but to hold it as a “Victory Rally” As a former resident of Walthamstow who retains family connections I always had business there this weekend and decided I would lawfully go about it this morning. There was a strong police presence at all the transport hubs and railway stations. At Walthamstow Central Station UAF stewards were exhibiting their banners and attempting to sell their newspapers.

As a proud Lutonian born and bred, I can think of few greater honours than to be chosen by the citizens of Bedfordshire to serve as their voice on policing and crime in our county. The PCC role will be a demanding one, and my aim here is to show the people of Bedfordshire that I am the right individual for the job.

Controlled Zone: The EDL in Walthamstow

The following official complaint was filed yesterday with the IPCC, the body that fields complaints against the British police, by an EDL supporter who attended last Saturday’s truncated EDL demonstration in Walthamstow. The complainant was kettled along with the rest of the EDL for eight hours, handcuffed, “arrested”, and then released.

We need dozens (hundreds, even) more complaints like this one. If you were kettled at Blackhorse Road on Saturday like this gentleman, please consider filing a formal complaint.

I’m told that it’s also possible to sue the Metropolitan Police (pdf).

Dear sir/madam;

I wish to make a formal complaint against the Metropolitan Police in regard to their behaviour, policing style and methods, and general actions on September 1st, in particular regard to their ‘kettling’ operation at Blackhorse Road underground station, resulting in a clear breach of Article 5 of the Human Rights Act (HRA), and consisting of Unlawful Detention, amongst several other legal breaches.

The Guardian. Another reason for Pat Condell’s criticism

Check this absurd article in today’s Guardian, a near complete synthesis and I can tell you this for a fact, the EDL despises Breivik more than most and his actions have in fact set groups like the EDL back a long way. In any case, this video by Mr, Condell now makes sense for another reason. The Guardian’s propensity to manufacture facts and create false impressions as opposed to reporting the news.

BREAKING: EDL Demo site attacked

The site for todays EDL demonstration was attacked by from three to four HUNDRED screaming Muslim youths throwing bricks and glass bottles.

The EDL were not allowed anywhere near the site. Our man on scene, EDL Buck will write up a more detailed report shortly. Check back in an hour!

I’ll start at the begining. I arrived at Kings Cross at around 11 am, met up with some familiar faces and we went to the dolphin pub for a drink.

At 12 we left for the tube station to catch our ride to Blackhorse Rd station, good atmos. Left station and was corraled by the police until all had arrived. We were than marched in fits and bursts towards the demo point. Police had to clear the road ahead of us of muzzies and unwashed UAF types. Nearing our rally point we came under attack from missle (Bricks bottles etc) so mthe police diverted us down a side road. where we were kettled for several hours without toilet facilities, not a pretty sight while 3-400 muslim youths were pelting the stage with more bricks etc causing the stage to be taken down while tempers started to flare in frustration.

Some of the lads attempted to charge the police causing the cops to baton several skulls. A while later Kevin Carroll turned up and explained to us that we would be heading back to the tube station (And he looked none too happy about this). The walk back to the station took a couple of hours as the police had to clear the Muslim defence league scumbags ahead of us.

Upon reaching the station we saw it was blocked off the a combination of UAF and MDL so the police marched down a side road where we were kettled again with toilets, until around 10 pm. The police called a section 60 and we were all searched had our details taken for the police national computer handcuffed and bundled into various police vehicals/buses 1 EDL to 1 cop and dropped off at kings cross where we were de-arrested and told to go home. This is a new tactic by the police, we think it was to get us so pissed off that we wont go on future demos.

FAT FUCKING CHANCE! NO SURRENDER.

Teachers who belong to far-right groups could be kicked out school

One of the most common, and effective, tricks of the totalitarian regime is to create a label most can agree is unacceptable to the (classically) liberal mind, then paint that label on to any group you want to get rid of. The Soviets did it, the Nazis did it, all psychotic genocidal regimes do it and frankly even moderate and soft post-democratic regimes do it to a lesser degree.

This is the UK doing it. Pretend the EDL are ‘far-right’ and ignore the fact that center-traditional Islam in fact reflects what people think of as ‘far-right’ almost to the letter (loathing of Jews, contempt for women, religious fanatics etc) and then pass laws saying that people who can be called far right, as opposed to those who really are, can be summarily dismissed from any job in government. And of course, in a socialist state like the UK, probably close to 65% of all jobs are government. I believe it was Mark Steyn who pointed out that the British Health Services are the world’s third largest employer after the Chinese military and the India railway company.

Also, if the UK teachers union is anything like the American or Canadian teachers unions it is virtually impossible to fire a teacher for anything short of actual cannibalism of students. So if they can fire them for a trumped up version of political opinion, the UK will have sunk that much deeper into a very bad place indeed.

Scotland’s teaching regulator is facing calls to strike off members of the profession with links to far-right groups such as the British National Party and the Scottish Defence League.

Members of the country’s largest teaching union, the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS), have tabled a motion to their upcoming AGM calling on the General Teaching Council for Scotland and the Scottish Government to “minimise the influence” of such groups in schools.

However, it is expected that delegates at this week’s meeting will go a step further and call for members of the profession with links to extremist groups to be removed from the teaching register.

Currently, teachers working in Scotland’s schools do not have to declare whether they are the member of a political party or other such group.

The General Teaching Council for England was axed after it failed to take action against a BNP activist who described immigrants as “savage animals” on an internet forum.

EDL in Bristol: Group expects trouble from ‘idiotic communist types’

The English Defence League has attacked the Labour Party for supporting “rent-a-mobs” in advance of the group’s march in Bristol tomorrow

The English Defence League (EDL) has attacked the Labour Party for supporting “rent-a-mobs” in advance of the group’s march in Bristol tomorrow.

A spokesman for the EDL told Bristol24-7 the group was expecting trouble from “idiotic communist types” who wanted to provoke a violent confrontation.

But in responding to the condemnation from Bristol’s two Labour MPs and the party’s candidate for mayor yesterday, the spokesman said Labour has “sold out its English constituents”, adding the group had no interest in what the party said.

Barriers are already in place for the EDL march yesterday, which will begin at Redcliffe Wharf before ending in Queen Square.

Up to 1,000 police officers are due to take to the streets to prevent a confrontation between the EDL and a counter-demonstration of anti-fascist groups, unions and community organisations.

Death threats sent to two EDL members ahead of Bristol march

POLICE have confirmed that two members of the English Defence League have been sent death threats ahead of their controversial march in Bristol this weekend.

But the far-right group’s march in protest at what it calls the “Islamification” of Bristol will still go ahead on Saturday afternoon.

Avon and Somerset police confirmed to the Post that officers had issued two individuals with notices known as Osman Warnings.

They are made when police have intelligence of a threat but not enough evidence to justify the arrest of any suspect.

The notices were introduced after a legal ruling that police have a “duty of care” to warn any individual if they are in danger.

The revelation comes after three men appeared in court earlier this week, charged with terrorism offences which are being linked to a planned attack on an EDL march in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.

The men were arrested after shotguns, a nail bomb and machetes were found in a car stopped by police on the M1 motorway near Sheffield last Saturday. The vehicle also contained a note addressed to the “English Drunkards League”, an apparent reference to the far right EDL, which was planning a rally that day.

The three arrested men, from Birmingham, have been charged with preparing an act, or acts of terrorism and are due to appear at the Old Bailey on July 31.

Avon and Somerset Police have ruled out any link between the arrests and the Bristol EDL march, which takes place on the same day as a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender pride festival and has come under pressure from both the city council’s Liberal Democrat leader, Simon Cook, and Bristol East Labour MP Kerry McCarthy.

Three men ‘planned to attack English Defence League’

Three men from Birmingham have appeared in court accused of plotting to attack members of the English Defence League.

Jewel Uddin, 26, Omar Mohammed Khan, 27, and Mohammed Hasseen, 23, all from Sparkhill, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on terror charges.

They were arrested in raids last week after police stopped a car on the M1 and found guns, knives, machetes and a home-made explosive device.

The case has been sent to the Old Bailey for a hearing on 31 July.

Mr Uddin, Mr Khan and Mr Hasseen are charged under the Terrorism Act 2006, accused of preparing for an act or acts of terrorism with the intention of committing such acts.

They are accused of manufacturing an improvised explosive device, as well as acquiring firearms and other weapons, and vehicles connected with their alleged plans.

The arrests, by the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit, followed a routine police stop of a vehicle on the M1 near Sheffield, South Yorkshire, on 30 June.
