UAF’s conference last week. Note the small number of black and minority ethnic people

One of this blog’s oldest friends, Azad Ali, has a great new post. As the Harry’s Place blog reports, Azad is the new vice-chair of Unite Against Fascism, the ostensibly anti-racist group (in fact more of a meal-ticket for the leadership of the Socialist Workers’ Party.)

Azad is the community affairs co-ordinator of the extremist Islamic Forum of Europe, which controls the East London Mosque and which is dedicated, in its own words, to changing the “very infrastructure of society, its institutions, its culture, its political order and its creed … from ignorance to Islam.” Through “hisbah” (the enforcement of Islamic law) and “jihad,” it aims to create a “global” Islamic dictatorship, the caliphate, and its “primary work” in this “is in Europe, because it is this continent, despite all the furore about its achievements, which has a moral and spiritual vacuum.”

Gibbs Amphibians Introduces Phibian and Humdinga High Speed Amphitrucks

PR NewswirePress Release: Gibbs Amphibians – Tue, Feb 7, 2012 2:29 PM EST

    (Photo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20120207/CG49242)

Gibbs Amphibians introduced the Phibian today at an event preceding the American Society of Naval Engineers (ASNE) annual conference. Equipped with Gibbs Amphibians’ proprietary High Speed Amphibian (HSA) technology, Phibian joins Humdinga in the Gibbs Amphibians commercial portfolio, two new amphitrucks capable of many uses, including military and rescue roles.

Phibian and Humdinga feature Gibbs’ proprietary High Speed Amphibian (HSA) technology, which incorporates many technological breakthroughs in suspension, water propulsion and wheel-retraction design. The water-jet propulsion system enables safe operation in shallow water yet provides the high levels of thrust necessary to achieve planing speeds within seconds. A patented retracting suspension system provides exceptional ride-and-handling on the road, but in the water retracts wheels in seconds to reduce hull drag in marine use.

Israelis: Iran Behind Bangkok Bombings, ‘Coordinated Attacks’ Around the World

    video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

    From ABC News:

A spokesman for Israel’s foreign ministry has said there is no sign yet that Moradi’s alleged targets were Jewish or Israel. Defense Minister Ehud Barak, however, placed the blame on the Iranian government. “The attempted terror attack in Thailand proves once again that Iran and its proxies continue to operate in the ways of terror and the latest attacks are an example of that,” said Barak

According to Israeli records, one of the most serious of the coordinated wave of attacks came in January, when three Azerbaijani nationals were intercepted before they could attack Israeli ambassador Michael Lotem and a rabbi and a woman at the Chabad center in Baku, the capital. In the 2008 Mumbai attack, terrorists invaded the Chabad center in Mumbai and killed the rabbi, his wife and four hostages.

Ten years later, what kind of ally is Canada?

I am republishing this article by David Harris on the occasion of this speaker coming to Ottawa U today.

    David Harris, Calgary Herald

    Published: Wednesday, September 07, 2011

The approaching tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks marks a critical point in Canada-United States relations. This milestone should remind us that allies’ support and confidence are decisive to a country’s survival and prosperity. In Canada’s case, prosperity and public safety require access to U.S. borders and to American diplomatic, military and intelligence channels. This access depends on U.S. confidence in Canada as a security partner.

Well before 9/11, I testified before a congressional subcommittee concerned about the Canadian Security Intelligence Service’s 1998 warning that more terror groups were in Canada than in any other country, except perhaps the U.S. Imagine American officials’ discomfort with today’s Canadian security problems.

Canadian-based Sikh extremists caused the world’s biggest pre-9/11 aviation-terror disaster, the 1985 Air India bombing. Today, India’s security officials privately regard Canada – not India – as a font of international Sikh extremism.

CSIS director Richard Fadden warned of illicit foreign-influence operations in Canada. One or two provincial cabinets could be penetrated, he said, as might local governments. Yet MPs shy away from asking whether Canada’s politicobureaucratic system is infiltrated.

American congressional leaders recently stopped Chinese telecom giant Huawei’s plan to buy into the U.S. market. Huawei denies links with Beijing, but the company partnered with sensitive Canadian telecom systems and got a $6.5 million Ontario grant without debate. Now Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird dubs America’s strategic Chinese foe an “ally” and declares unreconstructed Beijing the political equal of democratic post-war Germany and post-Soviet Russia.

Canada’s growing Islamist threat is becoming an export, and American security sources say they know it.

Convicted in Chicago, Pakistani-born Canadian Tahawwur Hussain Rana plotted against Danish publishers of Muhammad cartoons.

Canadians reportedly kill for al-Shabab in Somalia.

Federal computer software consultant, Momin Khawaja, was a transnational jihadi.

Fateh Kamel’s Canadian group ran international operations. Meanwhile, a 2007 Environics poll found 12 per cent of Canadian Muslims – up to 119,000 people – could sympathize with a Toronto 18-type mass-casualty plot.

Some Canadian Muslim moderates say radicals dominate many Canadian mosques. Radical influence seeps into Canadian educational institutions, shaping Canadian minds in ways hostile to North American security. Ethnocultural community members warn about infiltration threats in Canadian public administration and the private sector. Continue Reading →

Pakistan helping Afghan Taliban – Nato “I can’t xxxx on a tree without them watching” Senior Al-Queda operative

    BBC

The Taliban in Afghanistan are being directly assisted by Pakistani security services, according to a secret Nato report seen by the BBC.

The leaked report, derived from thousands of interrogations, claims the Taliban remain defiant and have wide support among the Afghan people.

A BBC correspondent says the report is painful reading for international forces and the Afghan government.

A Pakistani foreign ministry spokesman called the accusations “ridiculous”.

“We are committed to non-interference in Afghanistan and expect all other states to strictly adhere to this principle,” Abdul Basit told the BBC.

“A stable and peaceful Afghanistan is in our own interests. We cannot indulge in any activity which takes us away from achieving that objective,” he added.

The report alleges that Pakistan knows the locations of senior Taliban leaders.

“We have long been concerned about ties between elements of the ISI [Pakistan’s intelligence service] and some extremist networks,” said US Pentagon spokesman Captain John Kirby, adding that the US Defence Department had not yet seen the report.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar is currently in Kabul for talks with Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

Pakistan knew where Bin Laden was all along, Leon Panetta admits as he reveals intelligence source for Osama raid

Convinced: US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta is adamant that the Pakistani government knew about Bin Laden's remote hiding placeConvinced: US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta is adamant that the Pakistani government knew about Bin Laden’s remote hiding place

Pakistan officials must have known that terror chief Bin Laden was holed up in a remote compound in Abbottabad, claims Pentagon chief Leon Panettta.

The Defence Secretary has publicly hit out at the Pakistani government who he says ‘must have had some sense’ of Osama Bin Laden’s whereabouts.

He said he remains convinced they must have known someone of interest was hiding out in the safe-house in an interview for CBS’s ’60 Minutes’, but added he has no proof.

The explosive interview, to be broadcast tomorrow, also saw Panetta acknowledge for the first time that Pakistani doctor Shakil Afridi had provided key information about the former Al Qaeda frontman’s whereabouts.

Afridi ran a vaccination program for the CIA to collect DNA and verify Bin Laden’s presence in the hideout and Panetta confessed he is ‘very concerned’ for the doctor who has been charged by Pakistan with treason.

Since the May 2 attack on Bin Laden’s compound, last year, Pakistani leaders have continued to deny they had any idea Bin Laden was staying in the city.

This is despite revelations that he had been hiding at the site for as long as five years.

For months the CIA knew of his presence there and spied on him from its own top-secret safe-house next door to the terror leader’s fortified compound, before Navy Seals were sent in.

Town-Hall follows up on the Iranian woman murdered in Texas

Remember the expat Iranian woman’s-rights activist murdered recently in Houston? Fortunately Town-hall followed the story. I have been trying to find updates on it but like so many things where Islam is behind a crime, it can get buried unless enough spotlights shine on it like the Shafia murders in Ontario.

Here is a part of the article, the whole thing linked here:

The murder of 30-year-old medical student Gelareh Bagherzadeh near her Houston home last week was surely meant to convey a message. This was no case of mistaken identity or random violence; what must be known about this remarkable young woman is that while she feared for her life she still spoke at every opportunity for freedom and women’s rights in Iran. Indeed, for Islamists there was reason to make an example of her and to send a message that – even in America – those who summon the courage to speak boldly against Islamism will be silenced.

It now is up to Americans to accept responsibility for making our own inspiring example of the courageous Gelareh Bagherzadeh. We have the power to profile this young woman of conviction as the leader that she was. But we have to know what her life meant and we have to honor the risks she took to stand for the freedoms we say we hold dear. If her killers intended that she would be silenced, it is now our duty to make sure she will not be, even in death.

Illegal immigrant who arranged sham marriages leaves jail with £1,500 rehab money – and sets up business in Pakistan offering UK passports

    • Ashar Rathore served 7 months of two-year sentence

Fraudster Ashar Ali Rathore has been paid with taxpayers' money to return to PakistanFraudster Ashar Ali Rathore has been paid with taxpayers’ money to return to Pakistan

An illegal immigrant and sham marriage ringleader who left prison early with a huge pay-off has used the money to set up a new business in his homeland – offering UK passports.

Ashar Ali Rathore, 33, came to the UK with his wife Nadia Qadri, 34, on student visas then faked marriages to two Polish people to gain residency.

The fraudster was jailed for conspiring to breach immigration law, but was then handed £1,500 of taxpayers’ money as part of a Government scheme for rehabilitating foreign nationals.

He had only served seven months of his two-year sentence.

Today, it emerged Rathore has used the money to set up Xpress Solutions – a company providing UK passports, visas and driving licences in Kotli, Pakistan, his native country.

Among its other services, it also bizarrely offers ‘any enquiry related to the laws of cricket’.

He is not currently under investigation by the Pakistani authorities.

Jonathan Isaby, political director of the TaxPayers’ Alliance, branded the payout a ‘sick golden goodbye’.

A year ago, another Iranian assassin was allowed to return to the IRI

This week’s horrible murder of a thirty year old expat Iranian Women’s-rights activist needs to be seen as not an isolated event, but as a symbol of Iran’s escalating campaign against anyone anywhere who opposes its fanatical Islamist totalitarian regime. When we foiled the fantastical plot to kill the Israeli and Saudi ambassador in Washington not so long ago, the plot had two things going for it that tended to make people dismiss it.

    1. It did not succeed.

    2. It was so elaborate and ambitious that it sounded like a rather poorly written amateur spy novel.

Foiled terrorist plots, are never factored in to the arguments for the people who feel Islam is simply not a problem. As a consequence, each foiled plot fails to make an impression on us, that we have a huge problem both with Islam, and with Islamic governments.

While it has not yet been proven that the murder of this woman was an IRI plot I would like to offer this nearly year old CNN video as a data point in favor of that proposition.

A few links on Iran, US, Israel and accusations of interference.

It remains my suspicion that the agency behind attacks within Iran is the MEK. My suspicion is because they are the most capable of operating within Iran, although Israel likely has many Farsi speaking residents who may be able to infiltrate, I still think its more likely to be people already there and well connected to anti-regime networks.

Also, on the video I posted here taken shortly after the Nov 2011 blast in Iran at a nuclear weapons development site, the people who posted this video used the sound track of the current Ayatollah  promising to pay everyone’s electricity and utility bills from the last ‘election’ in the IRI. CLearly a mocking gesture and something more typical of a local organization I would think, than the US or Israel or an extra-national group.

Iran says CIA behind nuclear scientist’s killing:

TEHRAN, Iran –  Iran said Saturday it has evidence that the United States was behind the assassination of an Iranian nuclear scientist this week in Tehran, state media reported.

Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan was killed in a brazen daylight assassination Wednesday when two assailants on a motorcycle attached a magnetic bomb to his car in the Iranian capital. The killing bore a strong resemblance to earlier killings of scientists working on the Iranian nuclear program, and has prompted calls in Iran for retaliation against those deemed responsible.

Iran mulls ‘punishing’ US, Israel, UK for killing:

Iran is looking at “punishing” those behind the assassination of one of its nuclear scientists, a senior military official said on Saturday, pointing the finger at the United States, Israel and Britain.

“We consider committing a terrorist act of killing a scientist to be a threat to the nation… We are looking at punishing those who were behind the scenes of the martyrdom (assassination) of Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan,” the deputy chief of Iran’s joint armed forces, Masoud Jazayeri, was quoted as saying by several media.

Iran’s response will be “tormenting” for those responsible, he said, adding: “The enemies of the Iranian nation, such as the United States, Britain and the Zionist regime, should be made accountable for their actions.”

Ahmadi Roshan, a 32-year-old deputy director of Iran’s main uranium enrichment plant, was killed along with his driver on Wednesday when assassins on a motorbike fixed a magnetic bomb to his car.

He was the third nuclear scientist to have been murdered in similar circumstances in Tehran over the past two years.

Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said on Thursday that the “abominable” killing was committed “with the planning or support of the intelligence services of the CIA and Mossad” of the United States and Israel.

Iran accuses Israel, US in nuclear scientist assassination:

Chemical engineer Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan killed in car bombing; IDF spokesman: I won’t shed a tear for him.

Amid rising tensions in the Middle East and a day after IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz warned that unnatural events would plague Iran, a nuclear scientist was assassinated on Wednesday in a meticulously planned car bombing in downtown Tehran.

Iran accused Israel and the United States of carrying it out.

The assassination on Wednesday was the fourth attack against Iranian nuclear scientists in two years and followed by two months a series of mysterious explosions, one of which killed a top Iranian Revolutionary Guard general and missile expert in November.

According to Iranian reports, two men on a motorcycle attached a magnetic bomb to the door of 32-year-old Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan’s silver sedan as he drove down a busy street close to Tehran University during the morning rush hour. The chemical engineer’s passenger also died, Iranian media said, while a passer-by was slightly hurt.

Iranian media described Roshan as a senior nuclear scientist and deputy director of a department at the Natanz uranium enrichment plant near Tehran. The semi-official news agency Mehr said Roshan had recently met officials from the International Atomic Energy Agency.
