Four more fought off

Law and Freedom

2012 has started with a bang.

That makes a total of 9. And we haven’t lost one so far.

The pattern is that when we fight a mosque planning application it gets stopped, and when we don’t – because we’re skint or someone lets us down – it goes through. Make what you want of that.

  • BOLTON. Application reference 87089/11: planning application to turn a shop (a former pub) into a mosque. Refused on traffic and parking grounds.
  • EALING. Application reference: 2011/4564: Planning application to turn the sheds to the rear of 387 & 389 Uxbridge Road into a mosque. Refused. No reason published online yet.
  • KIRKLEES. Application reference: 2011/92581. Planning application to turn the beautiful old Jolly Sailor Pub into a mosque. Application withdrawn.
  • LUTON. Council decision not to sell development land on the cheap to the Masjid E-Ali mosque outfit – see previous post.

Winning means either we get a refusal or the other side withdraw the application.

They could come back again, and if they do we’ll fight them again. But we’ve seen ‘em off this time.

There’s all to play for.

It can be done.

A new kind of German rock star!

Thank you BB for the hard work in doing this translation.

I am not too happy with this version of the video. I have spent a couple of days trying to embed the subtitles properly and have had a lot of help from many great volunteers.

KitmanTV is now attempting to re-do this video for us with the titles all there and all of it visible. This means that the video will be offline for about 90 minutes once I re-upload the new version while it processes.

Meanwhile, check out this interview on BBC from a year ago nearly exactly with Thilo Sarrazin:

We won’t eat halal meat, say MPs and peers who reject demands to serve it at Westminster

  • Some parliamentarians have eaten meat at Westminster having been assured it was halal

Lord Ahmed of Rotherham thinks halal should be made available as an optionLord Ahmed of Rotherham thinks halal should be made available as an option

The Palace of Westminster has rejected demands to serve halal meat in its restaurants.

Muslim MPs and peers have been told they cannot have meat slaughtered in line with Islamic tradition because the method – slitting an animal’s throat without first stunning it – is offensive to many of their non-Muslim colleagues.

The stance has infuriated some parliamentarians who have eaten meat in the Palace’s 23 restaurants and cafes, having been assured that it was halal.

Lord Ahmed of Rotherham said: ‘I did feel misled. I think a halal option should be made available.’

In 2010, the Mail on Sunday revealed schools, hospitals and restaurants were serving halal meat to unwitting customers.

Waitrose, Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Somerfield and the Co-op all said they stocked meat slaughtered according to Islamic tradition without letting customers know.

Fast-food chains including Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, KFC, Nando’s and Subway are also using halal meat without telling customers, it was revealed.

This bit from a comment by Anon below was so powerful I felt I should include it here:

“History will judge us, and we will be found wanting, for we once were civilised, and knew good from evil.”

Forget tactics; the “clash of civilizations” is not what you think

From People of Shambhala

The words “The Clash of Ideas” are splashed across the cover of the special anniversary issue of Foreign Affair this month. This is of course a play on the “clash of civilizations” narrative that we’ve heard countless times since 9/11, and a nod to the notion that this clash – between radical Islam and the West, or liberal democracy – is fundamentally a “war of ideas.”

I have come to believe that this diagnosis is not only wrong, but a large part of the reason why we, who believe in freedom and the rights of the individual, appear to be losing ground. (For example, we are seeing more sharia in the West, despite us knowing that full sharia demands the execution of homosexuals, the stoning of women who commit adultery, and discrimination against religious minorities. And we are seeing our right to free speech eroded, especially across Europe.)

The battle is not one of ideas. It is a… read more.

Israel killed the leader of an al Qaeda-inspired faction in an airstrike on the Gaza Strip on Friday, accusing him of launching short-range rockets into the Jewish state.

Militants identified the man as Momen Abu Daf of the Army of Islam, part of a loose network of Palestinian groups that profess allegiance to al Qaeda and which have been reinforced by radical Salafi volunteers from neighbouring Egypt.

Abu Daf was killed when a missile hit Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighbourhood, the Hamas administration said. Five other Palestinians were wounded and one of them needed hospital treatment, the Palestinian Health Ministry said. Read the original article at Reuters

Woman fined by police for driving in burka told it was ‘as bad as eating sandwich behind the wheel’

Let’s hope this sets a precedent

A Muslim woman has been fined for driving while wearing a burka because the garment ‘reduced her field of vision’.

Police who stopped the woman in France compared wearing a veil over the face behind the wheel to driving with ice on the windscreen, eating a sandwich or smoking a cigarette.

The woman was handed a £28 on-the-spot fine under article 412-6 of the highway code, which states: ‘Field of vision must not be restricted by either passengers, objects being transported or by the position of non-transparent objects on the windows.’

She was also told she was in breach of the country’s controversial burka ban imposed last April, which outlawed anyone hiding their face in public, including in streets, shops, restaurants and cars on public roads.

Police said the woman was pulled over while driving in Saint-Brieuc, Brittany, on Thursday.

Spokesman Laurent Dufour added: ‘The officer who stopped her said she was driving hesitantly and clearly could not see properly.

Ron Banerjee: Understanding Islamic violence and how to defend our freedoms

Footage from the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks that left over 100 people dead and over 200 wounded.

From People of Shambhala.

In the wake of renewed violence against Hindus in Pakistan, and with more than 100 Hindu families seeking asylum in India, Ron Banerjee, Director of the Canadian Hindu Advocacy group spoke to People of Shambhala. Mr. Banerjee talks about the background to the conflict, and why Pakistan was created in 1947. Why the West should include Hinduism, not just the “Judeo-Christian” tradition. And he also discusses Islam and violence against Hindus and the West, and how we can defend our values and freedoms.

PoS: At the moment about 100 Hindu families are seeking asylum in India, from Pakistan, and are claiming discrimination and violence. There were four doctors murdered on the first day of Eid, and, I think, a Sikh was stabbed as well. Can you tell us a little about that situation?

RB: Sure. The situation is very natural. Most people don’t understand what Pakistan is. Pakistan is a country that was formed for the Muslims. India is a multi-ethnic country for everybody. So Pakistan was formed with the very idea that the only people that should be in Pakistan are Muslims. There is nothing strange about what’s going on in Pakistan today. It’s being going on for a long time.

At independence Pakistan’s population was about ten percent Hindu and Sikh. Now it’s less than one percent. So the question is where did that nine percent go? Well, they were either ethnically cleansed, driven away, or slaughtered in large numbers in the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. In East Pakistan an estimated 2.4 million Hindus were slaughtered in just one year, and hundreds of thousands of Hindu women were… read more.

A Message From Tommy Robinson

From Gates of Vienna:

Tommy Robinson in Luton

Tommy Robinson has sent a message today to his supporters in the English Defence League. He wants everyone to know he is recovering well from his injuries, and will soon be as good as new.

Tommy says he is now in Luton Town Centre “standing on his own and proud”. He also says that 2012 will be the start of a new era for the EDL.

Concerning last Thursday’s attack by “youths”, Tommy reports that the Luton police are treating the incident as a “racially-motivated crime”.

He also says he will be releasing a new video within the next few days.

His primary concerns, as usual, are for his children and his mother. The latter is in extremely poor health at the moment.

Tommy extends his “best wishes to every single one of you for a fantastic New Year”, and says he “can’t wait to be at the front in 2012!”

Terrorist Squad Involved in Attempted Terror Attack Targeted

A short while ago, in a joint IDF-ISA operation, a squad affiliated with recent terror activity was targeted in the Gaza Strip.

The IDF will not tolerate any attempt to harm Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers, and will operate against anyone who uses terror against the State of Israel. The Hamas terror organization is solely responsible for any terrorist activity emanating from the Gaza strip.

Cobb County, Ga., police investigate shooting of Jameela Barnette.

  • A Muslim woman who had been charged with sending fake weapons and a pig’s foot to two New York lawmakers was killed during a struggle with a cop in Georgia on Sunday, authorities said.

Jameela Barnette, 53, of Marietta, was slapped with federal charges last month for sending New York State Sen. Greg Ball (R,C-Patterson) a vial of perfume, a hate-filled letter and a doll of the monkey Curious George wearing two Stars of David.

She had also mailed a pig’s foot to Rep. Peter King (R-L.I.) in response to controversial hearings he held in March on the purported radicalization of American Muslims, Politico has reported.

A spokesman for Cobb County Police said an armed Barnette was shot to death after officers responded to a panic alarm she activated at her apartment at 11 a.m. Christmas Day. Continue Reading →
