I hesitate to recommend Rethinking Our Approach to Iran’s Search for the Bomb by the Center for Strategic & International Studies’ Anthony Cordesman as weekend reading, since its conclusions are just too sobering. On the other hand, the comprehensive report is rather heavy-going, and may be hard to find sufficient time to do it justice during the working-week. It is compulsory reading for anyone with an interest in strategic issues, and does a fantastic job of summing up all the most up-to-date and unclassified information available on Iran’s nuclear program, with the added bonus of Cordesman’s invaluable insight.

The veteran national-security expert has done much of the work for us by wading through hundreds of pages of the full versions of the last two International Atomic Energy Agency reports on Iran and other relevant documents, rendering them into something approximating laymen’s terms. As he notes at the beginning of study, very few of those commentating on these affairs have actually read the entire documents, probably even less have the necessary qualifications to actually understand them.

Any serious readers of this blog would do very well to make the time and read Cordesman, unless you have access to classified material, as this is the most important report on Iran you will read until something really big and new comes out. I certainly hope the Western negotiators who are about to meet their Iranian counterparts for the second round of the P5+1 talks in Baghdad, ten days from now, will have read it by the time they land in Iraq. It is probably much better than anything they will get in their briefing papers.

Here is a short summary of the document. I hope I do it justice:

– Anyone who believes that Iran is not yet actively pursuing a nuclear-weapons program and merely developing the capabilities is committing an act of willful delusion. The intelligence supplied to the IAEA and verified by different “member countries,” is clear on that Iran has been working on a wide range of projects for over a decade, all of which are specifically aimed at acquiring the capabilities necessary not only to enrich uranium to weapons-grade, but to assemble a nuclear advice that can be launched by long-range missile. Talk of a fatwa against nuclear weapons is just that: talk.

– Despite sanctions and international monitoring, Iran has received highly specialized instruments and equipment, benefited from the knowledge of foreign nuclear weapons designers and made impressive advance in its own scientific centers, so as to be able to carry out most of the necessary testing for a nuclear device, without actually creating a nuclear detonation. There has also been preparation for an actual nuclear test.

The IDF has issued emergency call up orders to six reserve battalions in light of new dangers on the Egyptian and Syrian borders. And the Knesset has given the IDF permission to summon a further 16 reserve battalions if necessary, Israeli media reported on Wednesday.

An IDF spokesperson said intelligence assessments called for the deployment of more soldiers. …

On January 25, 2009 Bob Simon had this to say:

“Palestinians … when they want to travel from one town to another, they have to submit to humiliating delays at checkpoints and roadblocks. There are more than 600 of them on the West Bank.”

On April 22, 2012 he had this to say:

“For all Palestinians, just leaving Bethlehem is a struggle. Getting to Jerusalem, only seven miles away, whether it’s to pray, go to a doctor, visit family members, or work, means going through this Israeli checkpoint. That can take hours but before Palestinians can get even this far, they need a permit from the Israelis which can take weeks or months to obtain and is frequently denied.”

Let’s get this story straight. I wrote about this in 2009, but I have revised it today:

Bob, you say Palestinian Arabs feel humiliated and harassed when Israeli authorities search them and their belongings; when they are prevented from traveling freely because of checkpoints, roadblocks, closures and curfews. You say they feel “corralled.”

Bob, in Israel, every Jewish and Arab Israeli is searched numerous times during the course of a single day. Israelis are asked to open their bags and purses for inspection.

In most cases, they are subjected to body searches with a metal detector every time they enter a bank or a post office, pick up a bottle of milk at the supermarket, enter a mall or train station, or visit a hospital or medical clinic. Young Israeli Jewish men and women are physically frisked in search of suicide belts before they enter crowded nightclubs.

As a matter of routine, Israelis’ car trunks are searched every time they enter a well-trafficked parking lot or mall.

Daily, their cars pass through roadblocks that cause massive traffic jams that are even worse when security forces are in hot pursuit of suicide bombers believed to have entered Israel.

Israelis are searched not only when they go out for a cup of coffee or a slice of pizza, but also when they go to the movies or a concert, where the term “dressed to kill” has an entirely different meaning.

These ordinary daily humiliations now extend to similar searches when Israelis go to weddings or Bar Mitzvahs. No one abroad talks about the humiliation Jews in Israel are subjected to, having to write at the bottom of wedding invitations and other life cycle events, “The site will be secured [by armed guards]” – to ensure relatives and friends will attend and share their joyous occasion – and how they have to pay for them.

Bob, these ubiquitous security checks do not exist in Arab cities and towns in pre-1967 Israel (or, for that matter, in Arab towns in Judea and Samaria) because those places are not and never have been targets of Palestinian Arab terrorism.

Egypt scraps Israel gas supply deal

Two jets of flame apparently rise from the desert, 5 March 2012 Egypt’s pipelines supplying Israel have faced numerous attacks in the last year

Egyptian officials say they have scrapped an agreement to supply Israel with natural gas.

Israel received around 40% of its gas supplies from Egypt and uses it to generate electricity.

The announcement comes after the cross-border pipeline suffered numerous sabotage attacks which cut supplies.

Israeli Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz said the move was of “great concern”, and overshadowed peace agreements between the countries.

Egypt was the first Middle East country to sign a peace accord with Israel, in 1979, and the deal to supply energy has been a key part of agreements between the two states.

But the BBC’s Jon Leyne in Cairo says the gas deal is deeply unpopular, and one of the charges against former President Mubarak is that he sold the gas too cheaply.

Heavily criticised

Israel has insisted it is paying a fair price for the gas.

A statement from the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company said it was ending supplies because the terms of its contract had been breached.

Ampal, the Israeli company which buys the gas, said in a statement that it considers the attempt to terminate the contract “unlawful and in bad faith”, and demanded its withdrawal.

The company is using international arbitration to try to get compensation, after supplies were interrupted following frequent sabotage attacks on the gas pipeline across the Sinai desert in north-eastern Egypt.

These ”activists” are not innocent, they constantly provoke the most well mannered person into erupting into something unrecognizable by their own relatives. This guy is now a cause celebrity among his small pathetic crowd of anti-Israel jerks, it’s a status that each and every one of the more radically minded activists hope to achieve. It gives them ‘street cred’ that they crave with their peeps back home and abroad. Pathetic when you really think about it.

NOTE: The ISM that this punk belongs to, is one of the more violent and radical of the Western groups that constantly provoke the Israeli military and its border control. Below, an interview with the Israeli solder who, through selective editing, was made out to be a thug by leftists and Muslims protesting and marching for the destruction of the state of Israel. The video that has been circulated widely, was of the soldier hitting a protester with his rifle but. The video did not bother to include the footage of that same protester hitting the soldier with a stick and breaking his finger.

This is rather illustrative of the methods and ethics of the leftist-Isalmic alliance. It is all about creating hatred not based on the facts, but to achieve an objective. Not to spread a difficult truth, but to focus animosity in order to destroy a people and a nation. A nation I might add, that is the best to all it’s citizens in the entire region no matter the gender, color or even religion and ideology.

Lt. Col. Shalom Eisner said Tuesday he has “no regrets” about striking a Danish activist, saying that doing the job is more important than looking good.

“What’s more important, doing the job or looking good for the camera?” Eisner asked rhetorically during an interview with Channel 10.

“We know the history of these anarchists,” Eisner said. “They came with sticks and broke my hand, but no one talks about that or films it.”

“It’s true; some of the pictures look bad,” he conceded. “I used my weapon coldly, like a stick. I didn’t kill anyone, and didn’t put anyone’s life at risk.”

“My job was to protect my soldiers and open the road, and I did just that,” Eisner said. “My sense was that this [the blow] would do it.”

The protesters themselves said after the incident that they cut the rally short and decided not to block the road only because of the way I handled the situation,” Eisner said.

Eisner also criticized the senior IDF commanders who publically criticized him while the IDF investigation was still underway.

Arab seller of Hebron House sentenced to death

…and leftist morons call Israel the “apartheid state”. The story below actually exceeds the genuine facts of South African apartheid by orders of magnitude. Under apartheid, there were indeed very wealthy areas of Soweto populated by black businessmen and professionals who drove BMWs and enjoyed a very high standard of living. They were not allowed to own houses in white areas but white people did not murder their own family members or community members for selling land to a black person. However this is not that rare in the Muslim areas outside Israel proper. In fact this also should put to rest the idea that ‘Jews steal land from Palestinians’ when in fact we can see here that Jewish people buy the land at a price agreed on by the owner. But as Samuel Clemens said so exactly, “A lie can travel around the world before the truth can tie up it’s shoes”

Also worth noting, it is the Jews who are calling to save this man from execution.

JERUSALEM (JTA) — Jewish leaders in Hebron have called for international intervention to help the Palestinian man sentenced to death for selling a home near the Cave of the Patriarchs to Jews.

A letter on behalf of Muhammad Abu Shahala, a former intelligence agent for the Palestinian Authority was signed by Hebron Jewish community leaders David Wilder and Noam Arnon, and addressed to, among others, the secretary-general of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon; U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton; the president of the European Council of the European Union, Herman Van Rompuy; and the director general of the International Red Cross, Yves Daccord, among others.

Shahala reportedly was sentenced to death for his part in selling what has become known as the Machpela House to a group of Jews. He reportedly confessed to the sale after torture and was subject to a rushed trial, according to Arutz-7, which cited various news agencies. Palestinian officials said Shahala was not authorized to sell the home.

major Israel TV station on Sunday night broadcast a detailed report on how Israel will go about attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities in the event that diplomacy and sanctions fail and Israel decides to carry out a military strike.

The report, screened on the main evening news of Channel 10, was remarkable both in terms of the access granted to the reporter, who said he had spent weeks with the pilots and other personnel he interviewed, and in the fact that his assessments on a strike were cleared by the military censor.

The therapy, which targets a molecule found in 90 per cent of all cancers, could provide a universal injection that allows patients’ immune systems to fight off common cancers including breast and prostate cancer.

Preliminary results from early clinical trials have shown the vaccine can trigger an immune response in patients and reduce levels of disease.

The scientists behind the vaccine now hope to conduct larger trials in patients to prove it can be effective against a range of different cancers.

They believe it could be used to combat small tumours if they are detected early enough or to help prevent the return and spread of disease in patients who have undergone other forms of treatment such as surgery.

Cancer cells usually evade patient’s immune systems because they are not recognised as being a threat. While the immune system usually attacks foreign cells such as bacteria, tumours are formed of the patient’s own cells that have malfunctioned.

Scientists have, however, found that a molecule called MUC1, which is found in high amounts on the surface of cancer cells, can be used to help the immune system detect tumours.

The new vaccine, developed by drug company Vaxil Biotheraputics along with researchers at Tel Aviv University, uses a small section of the molecule to prime the immune system so that it can identify and destroy cancer cells.

The news reached the Prophet early in the morning and he sent (men) in their pursuit and they were captured and brought at noon. He then ordered to cut their hands and feet (and it was done), and their eyes were branded with heated pieces of iron, They were put in ‘Al-Harra’ and when they asked for water, no water was given to them.” Abu Qilaba said, “Those people committed theft and murder, became infidels after embracing Islam and fought against Allah and His Apostle .  (Sahih Bukhari, Ablutions (Wudu’), Volume 1, Book 4, Number 234)“

Meanwhile, Hungarian anti-Semites are digging up an alleged murder of a girl by Jews in the 1800s where the court of the day actually found there was no evidence of ‘Jewish involvement’ in her disappearance, but was introduced today in the Hungarian Parliament just to demonize them afresh.

Let us hope the Muslims and Hungarian anti-Semites all boycott this vaccine. That could save a lot of horror in the not-too-distant future.

Rocket fired from Egypt hits Israeli city of Eilat

A Grad rocket has landed in the southern Israeli city of Eilat, but has caused no damage or injuries, Israeli security officials said.

District police chief Ron Gertner told Israeli radio the rocket had been fired from Egypt’s Sinai peninsula.

He said it struck a construction site close to a residential area shortly after midnight (21:00 GMT).

The blast took place as thousands congregated in the resort town for the Jewish holiday of Passover.

Rocket attacks from Egyptian soil are uncommon. Attacks on Eilat and the nearby Jordanian town of Aqaba in 2010 killed one person and injured another four. Continue Reading →

A group of leftists held a demonstration last week outside IDF headquarters and the Defense Defence Ministry headquarters in Tel Aviv, to protest the IDF activity in Gaza in response to the Grad rocket attacks against Israel.

The demonstration was recorded by an internet user named Mafolik and the videos (which were uploaded to YouTube on March 13) provide a window to understanding the positions of left-wing activists in Tel Aviv about Israel’s right to defend itself, the nature of terrorism and the “Israeli occupation” of historical Palestine.

The following positions are implied from the words of the leftists during the protest:
The Israeli attacks in Gaza are war crimes, and the terrorists killed in those attacks were “murdered.” The IDF, according to the protesters, is an army of occupation and must “go to hell” and the Israeli government is a “fascist” government which applies an “apartheid” rule and is a “security risk” due to its policy of “aggression”. To them, the country called Palestine is under Israeli occupation from “Gaza to Bil’in” and “From Tel Aviv to Jenin.”
