  1. The US should park a carrier group off the coast in case additional air cover and sea based fire support is required by the Israelis.

  2. What we should do and what Obama will order are two different things.

What you have to consider is that this is a major step for Israel, they are taking several thousand people out of the work force damaging the economy. Remember Israel is a small nation and every time they call up the reserves they are reducing the national GDP and reducing the amount of taxes they collect while increasing the amount of money the pay out. Things have to be real bad before they will take this step.

Always remember wars are fought with gold as well as lead, the nations need workers in the factories to build the weapons and to earn the money to buy government bonds so the government can buy more weapons and pay more soldiers. Napoleon stated (correctly) that an Army marches on its stomach. A nation fights wars with the check book. We have to consider the costs of fighting the war and the costs of not fighting, with Israel the cost of fighting is lives of soldiers and civilians as well as treasure, the cost of not fighting is the destruction of Israel.

Right now that is the same cost the West will pay if we don’t fight Islam.

  3. Yes I feel sorry for poor Israel. They are in the front line between the Free World and the Islamist nut job nations. All Israel’s friends live a comfortable distance away from those nuts, although as we all know whacked immigration/refugee policies in western nations is having the effect of bringing a number of those nutty individuals to our shores…
Back to the main point though, when push comes to shove I think the Israelis know we will back them up.
