What Islam Isn’t

By Dr. Peter Hammond

The following is adapted from Dr. Peter Hammond’s book: Slavery, Terrorism and Islam: The Historical Roots and Contemporary Threat:

from Front page magazine (Special thanks to www.thereligionofpeace.com for helping me find it)

Islam is not a religion nor is it a cult. It is a complete system.

Islam has religious, legal, political, economic and military components. The religious component is a beard for all the other components.

Islamization occurs when there are sufficient Muslims in a country to agitate for their so-called ‘religious rights.’

When politically correct and culturally diverse societies agree to ‘the reasonable’ Muslim demands for their ‘religious rights,’ they also get the other components under the table. Here’s how it works (percentages source CIA: The World Fact Book (2007)).

As long as the Muslim population remains around 1% of any given country they will be regarded as a peace-loving minority and not as a threat to anyone. In fact, they may be featured in articles and films, stereotyped for their colorful uniqueness:

Ezra Levant to US congress. A pithy and important speech and some cold warnings as a foreward

From Ezra Levants own blog:

Levant to Congress: put Canada on the watch list of human rights abusers
By Ezra Levant on July 11, 2008 8:50 PM | Permalink | Comments (77) | Trackback (1)

I had the pleasure of making a presentation as an expert witness to the U.S. Congress’s bi-partisan human rights caucus today.

I didn’t count, but I’d estimate that there were over 100 people there. I met quite a few readers of my blog, and even a donor to my legal defence fund — what a warm welcome in a far away city! There were a surprising number of journalists, including Luiza Savage, Maclean’s magazine’s Washington Bureau Chief. And there were a lot of religious liberty NGOs, including those from the Bahai, Hindu and Buddhist communities — including several in bright orange monk’s robes.

As a Canadian, I had forgotten that, in the U.S., every Congressman (and certainly every Senator) has their own foreign policy staff. Many such advisors were present, as well as lawyers from the U.S. Department of Justice, the House Justice Committee, and the State Department.

My fellow panellists were impressive, especially the Turkish scholar whose specialty was documenting the treatment of apostates in Muslim countries, and the State Department lawyer who is the point-person in response to the international diplomatic campaign to have criticism of Islam criminalized. And — very usefully — the second secretary of the Pakistani Embassy was there. It was very striking to hear, directly from the source, the plans that Pakistan and the rest of the Muslim world have when it comes to censoring their critics through the twisting of Western legal apparatuses. It was like getting a glimpse at the other team’s playbook — and having our worst fears confirmed. Frankly, I was surprised that she showed up.

I’ll get into more details in a later post; it was a fascinating discussion, and the question-and-answer session was particularly clarifying. But for now, allow me to post my prepared comments. I’ve put in bold a few of my favourite comments. If I had to think of my most important suggestion, it would be for the U.S. Congress to add Canada to its watch list of countries that abuse human rights like freedom of speech and freedom of religion. What do you think?

Mark Steyn on Rush transcript. great read!

Thank you so much SanS for sending this my way. Steyn is a wonderful read always

MY CONVERSATION WITH MARK STEYN

I was delighted to speak with the brilliant columnist and wit, author of the must-read America Alone: The End of the World as we Know It (Regnery), just released in paperback:

RUSH: Mark, my man, how are you, sir?

STEYN: I’m doing great, Rush. It’s an honor to talk to you.

RUSH: I appreciate that. What I want to hit on first is you. You have been on trial for “flagrant Islamophobia.”

STEYN: That’s right.

RUSH: With Maclean’s magazine, which published an excerpt from your book, America Alone. You have been brought before the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal in Vancouver by the Canadian Islamic Congress “on behalf of Muslim residents in the province of British Columbia.” Closing arguments were Friday [June 6]. What are some of the highlights of the tribunal? Where does it stand?

STEYN: There is no First Amendment in Canada. Canada, like a lot of other Western governments, has become very comfortable in the business of regulating speech. It always sounds terribly reasonable when these people say, “Of course I believe in freedom of speech, but it’s a question of where you draw the line, how you strike a balance.” All that line-drawing and balance-striking appeals to Canadians’ sense of their own moderation. They set up these human rights courts 30 years ago and they have tripped over a couple of cases a year since then. Along comes the Canadian Islamic Congress, which wants to shut down discussion of Islam and Islam’s relationship to the West. They spotted their opening and have been using these pseudo-courts to basically go after anybody who wants to talk about this issue.

RUSH: You have said you hope you lose.

STEYN: That’s right. I want to lose here so that we can take it to a real court, to a court of appeals, and eventually, if necessary, up to the Supreme Court of Canada, and get this particular hate speech provision struck down as unconstitutional.

The whole position of the human rights nomenclature up there is that America is out of whack with the rest of the world, and they say, “There’s no point telling us that people have freedom of speech in America.” As the Canadian human rights commissioner put it: the international community has decided there are limits to free speech, and Canada – unlike America – being a member in good standing of the international community, has to respect that. In other words, you take Canada, France, Sweden, Libya, Sudan, and Yemen, you find out what the consensus on freedom of speech is, and you pitch it halfway between Yemen and Sweden and that should be fine for anyone. I returned from this cockamamie trial yesterday [June 8] and believe me, I have never been so glad to cross the border and get south of the 49th parallel again. The guy at the border said, “What was your business in Canada?” I said, “I was on trial at the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal for crimes against humanity.” He said, “Oh, well, welcome home,” and waved me on.

Gates of Vienna, an especially good article about Islam from an especially good site

Gates of Vienna has some of the best writing on the net about Islam and the west such as the following: (they frequently feature Fjordman, a historian that should be mandatory reading for all school children)

'Vienna Viewed from the Belvedere Palace', by Canaletto, Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna

At the siege of Vienna in 1683 Islam seemed poised to overrun Christian Europe. We are in a new phase of a very old war

Demographic Conquest

by Baron Bodissey

Several years ago, after 9-11 but before we started blogging, Dymphna and I often had discussions about the coming Islamization of Europe. It was easy to see the trend: on the one hand there was the demographic decline of the indigenous population, and on the other was a dangerous multicultural ideology that fosters increasing levels of Muslim immigration.

The conclusion was obvious: absent a change of course, Europe will become a Muslim continent by the year X. The only question is whether X will be 2040, or 2100, or somewhere in between.

What was hard to understand was how the transfer of power would occur. Right now the parts of Europe that have been Islamized are mostly the working-class neighborhoods of large European cities and their suburbs. The blue-collar natives are gradually driven out as whole districts become no-go zones.

However, the elites who make policy remain in power and are for the most part removed from the effects of their decisions. They don’t live in the devastated neighborhoods, or send their children to the gang-plagued schools, or worry about being mugged or raped on their way home at night.

So for the time being they get to retain their power and perks, and continue to act out the illusion of an advanced, harmonious, enlightened, multicultural society, superior in so many ways to the racist nationalistic states of the past.

The UN really must be ignored. Islam now above criticism

Discussion of religious questions now banned at UN Human Rights Council

From Europe News Denmark

International Humanist and Ethical Union June 30 2008

The UN Human Rights Council is not allowed to judge religions, according to president Doru Romulus Costea of Romania. Criticism of Sharia law or fatwas is now forbidden.

This ruling follows attempts by the Egyptian and Pakistani delegates at the Council to silence criticism of human rights abuse in the Islamic world.

The representative of the Association for World Education, in a joint statement with the International Humanist and Ethical Union, had denounced the stoning to death of women accused of adultery and of girls being married at the age of nine years old in countries where Sharia law applies.

The speaker, David Littman, was interrupted by no fewer than 16 points of order and the proceedings of the Council were suspended for forty minutes when the Egyptian delegate said that “Islam will not be crucified in this Council” and attempted to force a vote on whether the speaker should be allowed to continue.

On giving his ruling after the break Council President Costea said that the Council “is not prepared to discuss religious questions and we don’t have to do so”. “Declarations must avoid judgments or evaluation about religion. … I promise that next time a speaker judges a religion or a religious law or document, I will interrupt him and pass on to the next speaker”.

Jihad Against Freedom of Speech at the United Nations

http://counterterrorismblog.org/2008/06/jihad_against_un.php

By Jeffrey Imm

The United Nations’ Human Rights Council (UNHRC) has no problem with its members suggesting that the 9/11 attacks were an “inside job” perpetrated by the United States on itself. The human rights of America’s 9/11 victims are not a priority for UNHRC’s Richard Falk, the special rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories, who engages in 9/11 conspiracy propaganda, while working for an organization headquartered in New York City funded by U.S. tax dollars. This is Richard Falk’s protected freedom of speech.

Denying the role of Jihadists in the 9/11 attacks is apparently perfectly acceptable freedom of speech for the UNHRC, but criticizing Sharia law is another story.

On June 16, 2008, UNHRC president Doru Romulus Costea announced that criticism of Sharia law will not be tolerated by the UNHRC, based on the complaints and pressure by Islamist delegates to the UNHRC. In effect, the Islamist nations represented at the UNHRC have effected a Jihad against freedom of speech at the United Nations when it comes to criticizing Sharia or Islamic supremacist (aka Islamist) theocratic ideologies that threaten the freedom and lives of innocents around the world. This again demonstrates the key imperative of control for Islamists – in this case in terms of controlling ideas, thoughts, and words of an international organization intended to promote human rights. Outgoing UNHRC Commissioner Louise Arbour subsequently raised concerns about debates on Sharia becoming “taboo” within the United Nations group, stating that it “should be, among other things, the guardian of freedom of expression.”

The UNHRC ban on debate regarding Sharia came as a result of a three minute joint statement by the Association for World Education with the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU) to the Human Rights Council on women’s rights and the impact of Sharia law. These NGOs sought to address international issues of violence against women, specifically, the stoning of women, “honor killings” of women, and female genital mutilation, as a result of Sharia law.

Fjordman: How the Feminists’ “War against Boys” Paved the Way for Islam

Some commentators like to point out that many of the most passionate and bravest defenders of the West are women, citing Italian writer Oriana Fallaci and others as examples. But women like Ms. Fallaci, brave as they might be, are not representative of all Western women. If you look closely, you will notice that, on average, Western women are actually more supportive of Multiculturalism and massive immigration than are Western men.

I got many comments on my posts about Muslim anti-female violence in Scandinavia. Several of my readers asked what Scandinavian men are doing about this. What happened to those Vikings, anyway? Did they drink too much mead in Valhalla? Despite the romantic mystique surrounding them today, the Vikings were for the most part savage barbarians. However, I doubt they would have looked the other way while their daughters were harassed by Muslims. In some ways, this makes present-day Scandinavians worse barbarians than the Vikings ever were.

Video: Geert Wilders speaks to Danish Parliament

This is a great video of Geert Wilders, the maker of the short movie about Islam in Europe called ‘Fitna’ which is here on this blog and is a must see, speaks to the Danish Parliament about Islam in Europe. He pulls no punches and I’m going to guess the Danish Parliament is somewhat receptive to him as this speech comes less than a week after the Danish Embassy was attacked in Pakistan…

Some in Denmark respond to the attack on its embassy with excellence

Where there is bold, it is mine. This is the speech as I found it, but any bold or emphasis are mine.

Also, where a claim is made about the EU and its actions and ambitions, I added a link to a most excellent Fjordman article (26 pages but worth every word) which very powerfully illustrates this Danish politician’s point about EU ambitions and anti democratic actions.

Danish Constitution Day speech
By Morten Messerschmidt of Dansk Folkeparti
June 5th, 2008

Last Monday (Pakistan, June 2nd 2008) we again experienced the tragic reality of the 21st century. Terror struck at Denmark — and we now find ourselves with such countries as UK, US, Spain, etc., singled out by Islamic fundamentalists as their main enemy. And why? Well, if you ask Radikale Venstre [centrist political party], we have only ourselves to blame. We shouldn’t have been sticking our necks out. If we had pursued a less active foreign policy, we would not have disturbed anyone, and thus no one would have disturbed us — this is the cheap world view on the Danish political left wing.

Unfortunately, the world is more complex than this.

When terrorists increasingly strike Western targets — in particular in those countries spearheading the fight for freedom, democracy and the rule of law — this is due to the Islamic fundamentalists feeling themselves under pressure. They feel under pressure in Iraq, in Afghanistan — and in the countries they rule, where their model for society leads only to stagnation. On the other hand, they feel encouraged by the fact that never before have so many Muslims lived in non-Islamic countries. Their fingers are itching to declare Jihad.

At the beginning of the 21st century the citizens of the West constitute only 14% of the world’s population. By 2025 it is expected to be only 10% because our population is in decline. On the other hand, we see Muslim minorities having a significantly higher rate of birth than the Europeans. This is the hope the fundamentalists attach their aspirations to — the hope that Europe one day will have an Islamic majority and the Caliphate can be reestablished. This is by no means a remote utopian dream — and the independence of Kosovo has fueled that dream anew.

Buy a Danish cartoon T shirt

Today, June 2 a bomb killed 8 people and injured 24 at the Danish Embassy in Islamabad Pakistan. It appears at the moment that the bomb was in a car with forged diplomatic plates and was the work of Al Queda.

Today would be an excellent day to wear a Danish cartoon on a T shirt. As i have said before, the best defence is ridicule. If enough of us wear T shirts with a decent laugh at the expense of the religion of peace, this WILL stop.

I have a nice image of the three stooges, Larry Curly and Mohamed which makes an excellent T shirt. I recommend you all get something like it and wear it all week. Lets show these death dealing bronze age arseholes that we will not be dictated to, and have our freedom of thought destroyed by acts of savagery. For a change.

Fitna on Liveleak?

Ok so the claim is, that liveleak.com (still a stellar place to find great videos of all kinds) had put Fitna back up after beefing up security and making the brave statement that no one will tell them what they can and cannot show.

After 3 searches I cant find the video there anywhere. Its still here though so if you want to watch it scroll down and you can watch it right here on Vlad. But i did find this most excellent video on Liveleak. Much harsher than Fitna I think but no less true. I love how the music changes at the end.

My question remains, why this one and many others and not Fitna? well never mind watch and enjoy. and after that, this next one…

Denmark in a turbulent time

This is a voice from Copenhagen, Denmark.

In my point of view this is a very unusual tone from a Danish politician and, actually, most people, as I understand it, find it refreshing. The resistance “movement” is as yet, fresh and new, the Danes are unused to offending publicly. We like to think of ourselves as tolerant. However, suddenly (or perhaps it is just now, slowly, registering) our tolerance is being spat upon.
