Family of Asia Bibi appeal for help over blasphemy charge

(Beyond the obvious horror of the story, I am posting this as a separate item because surprisingly, the BBC had the courage to actually include the aspect of ‘najis’, the idea that if a Christian or unbeliever touches something it is unclean and not fit for muslim consumption or use, in this story)

Asia Bibi, a poor, illiterate woman from Pakistan’s rural Punjab, has been on death row for almost five years after being accused of insulting the Prophet Muhammad, a charge she vehemently denies. In a rare interview, her husband has appealed for help from the international community.

In Pakistan, the mere accusation of blasphemy can be a death sentence. It is also enough to make the whole family a target.

This is why Asia Bibi’s family members have been in hiding for nearly five years. Soon after her conviction, crowds took to the streets calling for her death, some threatening to kill her if she ever got out.

Asia’s troubles began when she was picking berries in her village of Itan Wali in Punjab.

She had an argument with a group of Muslim women when she went to get water from the well. They said the water was unclean because a Christian woman had touched it.

Days later the women claimed she had insulted the Prophet Muhammad and Asia was pursued by a mob.

This is a fascinating clip. Please watch it all the way through before passing any kind of judgment. One of the first curious things I noticed, was an odd sense of suspicion about this imam because early on I noticed he was using reason. Something which is anathema to islam overall.

A few times this site has alluded to the ‘wedge strategy’ and even spoken about what I call, ‘Government imams’. I would suggest this is one of them.

A one on one debate between this man and Robert Spencer would be one for the books although I believe I have seen something like it before, where Robert is arguing for the demonstrably true nature of islam using reason, islamic scripture and islamic history, against an imam who is trying to retroactively rewrite the islamic narrative in order to achieve an outcome most of us would agree with.

I would love it if this worked. But it won’t, it can’t and frankly I think this contributes to motivating young cultural muslims and other young people to join up with the jihadis because of the moral outrage when it is discovered that governments and government sponsored mosques and imams, (not saying this one is but betting it is) are discovered to be exactly that, peddling an acceptable version of islam, easily discoverable to be untrue by even a cursory look at the scripture and facts. For example abrogation is in the koran itself.  While this imam does an admirable job of trying to undo the horrific and incalculable damage the concept has done to humanity and the world, it remains right there in the koran clear as day.

Thanks to a commenter, ‘Just a thought’, it would appear that someone who looks very similar and who’s name is the same except the last part of it has been changed to ‘From Egypt’ (Al Masry) may have been in the news before where a woman who rebuked his offer to make her his 4th wife or temporary whore annoyed him so much he called her a Jew.

Douai: Decapitated statues cause shock amongst the parish faithful

The Church of Sainte-Thérèse was once again a victim of an incident on Christmas day, Thursday, December 25.

Eight statues representing figures from a Nativity scene from the Bible were beheaded. In response, the Parish has been forced to close its doors to the public.

The Church Sainte-Thérèse, located on the “rue de Douai” in Cuincy, France was a victim of a ruthless act and its followers are in a state of shock.

Thursday, December 25, Christmas day, one or more individuals broke into the Church and broke eight statuettes including six that represented the crib (of the baby Jesus). It is troubling that the evil doers attacked the statues of humans.

The reasons?  “I do not understand the message, says a member of the parish. The statues of the Nativity animals have remained intact but all those representing biblical figures were destroyed. As well as the statue of Sainte-Rita”.

They broke in but did not leave with money…

It would appear that the authors (of this crime) were targeting directly the parish priest, Abbé Jean-Paul Bhagiwant Patil.

“There was a little money in the Manger, points out a faithful parishioner of the Church Sainte-Thérèse, but they left it be. ” They only went after symbolic objects. This really looks like a personal attack against the Abbot”.

These incidents come after only a week after the discovery of graffiti of swastikas on the walls of the building with the term pedophile annotated below. Accusations that have shocked the faithful and douaisiens priests. As a precautionary measure, the Church Sainte-Thérèse and those of

Cuincy, Esquerchin and Lauwin-Planque will only be opened to the public in the mass hours until further notice.

Vandalism against houses of worship in Germany. A study in contrasts

Both these stories and related videos are in German. So we will have to make do with Google translate for the moment. I hope to have a real translation of the videos and the articles soon. For the meantime though, lets make do with what we have.

First, a mosque in Germany finds a wild boar head placed on what looks like a recycle bin outside. Much ado is made about it and the camera focuses on a single fly walking around somewhere in the vicinity for several seconds like it was going to turn into Jeff Goldblum.

While it must be upsetting for muslims to find free meat outside a mosque which they cannot eat, it should be pointed out that in a very high proportion of cases of vandalism of mosques, it was the muslims themselves who did it in order to create a victim narrative or hide another crime. This can be easily determined by the lack of follow-up on so many news stories about mosque vandalism, and the odd time when they do, how often it is an Islamic name.

Christians in Denmark facing persecution from Muslims

This is one of those really important stories that fly under the radar but have much larger implications to us all than the tiny bit of attention they get. This is a clear part of a process. Yes, they are going after an ‘ethnic’ community so that they don’t draw as much attention from the wider society. But its a prelude to the destruction of exactly that wider society.

Often leftists speak about protecting the vulnerable in society. They clearly didn’t mean the Jews as the Jews are pretty much packing up and leaving Europe for fear of Islamic attacks. They clearly didn’t mean the children as they are being turned into sexual slaves, no, not prostitutes, prostitutes get a percentage of their take and choose that line of work, the children are forced into being part of a harem of slaves for hire. So exactly who do the leftists mean when they talk about zero tolerance for harm and forcing tolerance for everything they do like.

This community, the Arab Christian one who typically are excellent citizens of every nation they have moved to, moved usually because muslims destroyed the civilization in their nations of origin, are both deserving and in need of our support and protection.

Lets start by protecting them since we failed with everyone else.

Uganda: Christians burn mosque in retaliation to attacks by suspected Muslim terrorists

A group of Christians in Uganda set fire to a mosque which they suspected was being used by Islamist extremist as a base to attack their church, leading to clashes that have seen more than 200 people fleeing their homes.

Two worshipers attending a night church service at a Pentecostal church in Kyegegwa district, 250km west of the capital Kampala, were killed on Friday in what police say is a suspected terrorist attack.

The Vatican, the Imam, the three unapproved prayers and interfaith movement origins in general.

An interesting thing happened at the Vatican on June 8 of this year. The pope invited what sounds like the setup for a 70s joke, an imam, a rabbi and a priest, to come and each give prayers for peace in the Vatican rose garden.

When the imam got up to read his prepared materials, all of which had been submitted in advance for approval as had all the materials to be read by all, the imam read 3 verses of the koran which he had not submitted in advance as well as some free form thoughts of his own.

Gates of Vienna and this site have written a few posts on this, here and here and GoV here But the importance of the event should not be underestimated. The meaning of the 3 extra verses you are about to see with great attention to detail and with highly acclaimed and authoritative Islamic texts,  will be shown to be basically a direct insult to the Jews and Christians in attendance. The Vatican’s response was to write some pot-boiler sophistry to deflect the imam’s insult in order to not take away from the intended spirit of the event one would assume. But this event was broadcast live to the entire Islamic world and it is highly likely that a large percentage of muslims watching knew exactly what took place, not to mention a number of Christian and other minority groups living in Islamic lands, even if nearly no Westerners did.

This is not without importance and not without consequence.

Vatican: Imam prays for victory over the disbelieving people

Last Sunday, Whitsunday if you like, Pope Francis hosted Israeli President Shimon Peres and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at a ‘Peace Gathering’ in Vatican City. Prayers from clerics of the three faiths had been planned to be part of the programme, as News.va, The Official Vatican Network, reported prior to the visit.

After he had seen the broadcast, Hamed Abdel-Samad, an Islam-critical political scientist and author who lives in Germany, wrote on Facebook:

“In the garden of the Vatican, the Muslim cleric finishes his prayer with the verse from the Quran: ‘May Allah give us victory over the disbelieving people’. This is what I call a prayer for peace.

Since Hamed Abdel-Samad speaks Arabic fluently, he had recognized that the Imam had quoted the last three verses from Sura 2.

On June 10, Bernd Hagenkord, head of the German section of Radio Vatican, published an article in which he contradicts the claim: “No, during the prayers for peace the Quran hasn’t been recited requesting to destroy the unbelievers. […] What a source of unbelievable stuff the internet is.”

In some way he couldn’t know better. Hagenkord attached all prayers (in English) that were handed in to his article. The Imam simply changed the programme.

When two readers put the translated verses into the comment section, Bernd Hagenkord answered: “Colleagues told us that the translation circulating the internet and this comment section is the harshest and not common at all.”

Not common at all?

Both translations were of the very same wording, so I had an Idea – and I was right. Both commentators had used the translation from the Central Council for Muslims in Germany

Rep. Gohmert meets the mothers of kidnapped Nigerian Christians

I feel I need to correct a few of the statements made by the well intentioned, well informed and generally excellent point of view of Rep. Gohmert.

To his first point, if there were ‘peace loving muslims’ in Nigeria, they would have stopped Boko Haram the way the Israelis stop factions of Jews who decide to go all vigilante or Christians when they denounce psychos who lone-wolf out on doctors etc.

On to his second point. This religious war does in fact need to happen. The reason I say that is the muslim side is already at full scale war against the non-muslim side. They are attacking villages, taking slaves, slaughtering Churches full of people at every opportunity. The only reason, and let me stress only, that this war is not happening now, is because the other side is not fighting back. The consequences of that in the medium and long term are not hard to calculate. Rep. Gohmert says this war does not need to happen. I beg to differ. The options given to Nigeria and the non-Muslims are the classical Islamic ones.

1. Convert to Islam. Kick up a fifth of your booty to the Caliph and live under the sharia

2. Live as dhimmis. A kind of second class semi-slave non-citizen at the mercy of every whim of any muslim. As the Christians in Pakistan are now, and as any non-Muslim living in Saudi Arabia would be if there were any left.

3. War.

To paraphrase Sir Winston Churchill:

“You were given the choice between war and dhimmitude. You chose dhimmitude and you will have war.”

I think its important we do not repeat this error.
