Ezra on PETA

It’s time to once again set our sights on the country’s human rights commissions. A few years ago this was one of the most controversial issues in the country. The Canadian Human Rights Commission, and its provincial counterparts, were under intense scrutiny for their reckless attempts to impose censorship and exhibiting a horrifying disregard for due process.
Created many decades ago to address discrimination toward those seeking employment or housing, these commissions soon found themselves with little work on their hands as there just didn’t seem to be enough discrimination out there to keep thousands of politically correct bureaucrats and appointees busy.
So they started seeking out other witches. Magazine publishers, stand up comedians, website operators–soon none of us were free from the over-reaching clutches of the human rights industry.
But the tables turned and soon their activities and ludicrous rulings dominated the headlines. Parliament, the Privacy Commissioner and even the RCMP investigated them. Employees of these commissions have been accused of being members in several online hate groups and routinely posting racist messages to see what type of mischief they could rouse up. And then, of course, come to the rescue and bust the owner of the domain.

Somehow he has managed to become completely full of excrement yet not suffer from malnutrition.
Some of you who follow the Canadian Human Rights shakedowns may remember the McDonalds employee who sued McDonalds because they told her she had to wash her hands before she handled food and that bothered her, so she sued through the HRC and … won.
Also, a plastic surgeon was sued by a man because the doctor refused to operate on him to give him nicer looking vagina lips. The doctor explained he was not trained to work on that kind of equipment and only worked on women. Again, successfully sued by this man for discrimination. Now, a business owner was sued for over $150,000.00 because he told 15 Chinese employees that they had to learn Canadian standards of hygiene in terms of how they kept the bathroom etc.
I have a suggestion for the next action by the HRC’s. In fact Im surprised they haven’t taken this one on already:
Here is Ezra Levant on the decision from his TV show on SUN April 21. For a thorough treatment on this issue please click over to Kathy Shaidle‘s site, Five Feet of Fury
I have mixed feelings about this one. I prefer that no one ever took anything to the Human rights commission and we all demand that they be decommissioned altogether. Frankly the ‘Canadian Human Rights Decommission’ has kind of a nice ring to it. However I am curious as to how these biased racist undemocratic uncountable totalitarians will handle this. Will they refuse the case altogether as they did when Marc Lebuis attempted to bring a Montreal imam to the QHRC for flagrantly violating the letter and spirit of section 13 of the HRA in every imaginable way, or will they fear the optics of that and decide to hear it and find against the defendant achieving several of their usual goals at once.
1. Making sure the Muslim antisemites win the case
2. Finding against the plaintiff and trying to damage the image they have rightly earned for a 100% conviction rate in favour of the plaintiff.
3. Attempting to continue to appear relevant when most Canadians are now hip to the fact that the C-HRC’s are nothing more than a shakedown of the kind typical of Spanish medieval ‘judicial’ processes.
Below is the article: (h/t Gates of Vienna)

(JTA) — A York University student filed a complaint with Ontario’s Human Rights Tribunal alleging that the university tolerated an environment hostile to Jews.
Sammy Katz claims that he and other students were subjected to physical and verbal abuse at a pro-Israel event on the university’s Toronto campus in February 2010.
York subsequently released video of the event suggesting that the pro- and anti-Israel students at the fracas were evenly matched and there was little or no physical confrontation.
In the complaint, released March 24 by Katz’s lawyers, the student claims he was subsequently vindicated in his claims and that York had “spun its own inaccurate version of the episode.”
Canadian universities in recent years have seen a flurry of tensions between pro- and anti-Israel groups.
A year ago, York expelled a student who allegedly advocated genocide against the Jews. Last week, McGill University in Montreal launched an investigation of a student who allegedly tweeted a threat to shoot participants at a pro-Israel event.
This is an interview that I conducted with Australian artist Sergio Redegalli this morning via Skype as he waited for various leftist groups to make good on their threat to firebomb his studio. The police told him that it was likely going to be tonight and as I spoke with him, it was about midnight in Australia.
Now that the Canadian ‘Human Rights Commissions’ have seen fit to once again award an outrageous and infuriating judgment to a prisoner who arbitrarily shot a policeman, for no reason whatsoever other than he wanted to shoot a policeman, for having to stand up in prison for roll call I thought it was time to say a few more words about the CHRC’s. Below, an email to CFRA CC’d to me, and below that, part of Mark Steyn’s on the HRC case against Ezra Levant, made public today by the kind permission of The Centre For Policy Studies.
The Human Rights commissions are clearly more than just a corrupt shakedown as Ezra Levant proves so clearly in his book of the same name. It is a political institution, who’s purpose is to inflame and make helpless the rational sensibilities of ‘conservative’ (Read non Marxist) Canadians.
If you look at past judgments, they clearly seek to find the most outrageous judgments to award. Once is a misunderstanding. Twice is policy.
Check the award to a transsexual who was refused service by a plastic surgeon as he did not have genuine from the factory female parts. He was awarded a great deal of money from a doctor, and the doctors reputation was smeared.
This was no accident.

As an aside, Poland during the Soviet occupation used to have an interesting expression. Poles would say to each other, “2+2=4” and that had tremendous significance. It was in fact, a radical statement at the time. I just mention that as an interesting fact of history and for no particular purpose.
What can I say other than thank you very much Pat for addressing this exceptionally important issue.
As always, John Robson is articulate and pithy. One of Canada’s hidden treasures. Everyone knows who David Suzuki is, yet few know John Robson. Why? No idea but it does remind me of something Mark Twain once said: “A lie can travel around the world in the time it takes the truth to tie its shoes”
