Indictment reveals Christian targets in Ankara, along with Parliament and U.S. Embassy.
ISTANBUL, December 9 (CDN) — A large-scale Al Qaeda plot to bomb “all the churches in Ankara,” as well as the Turkish Parliament and U.S. Embassy in the Turkish capital, was made public today.
In an exclusive splashed across the front page of the daily Taraf newspaper, contents of an official indictment against 11 alleged Al Qaeda militants arrested in July revealed the homegrown terrorist cell’s alleged plans to attack Ankara’s churches as well as their Christian clergy.
Prepared and filed by the Special Prosecutor’s Office in Ankara, the 50-page indictment outlined the militants’ revised “jihad” strategy to begin focusing their attacks against Turkey before waging war against the United States and other countries.
“It is more advantageous to wage jihad against Turkey than the United States,” documents seized in the July 14 raid near Ankara reportedly declared. “Let’s blow the Parliament into the sky!”
Quoting from deciphered CDs and other materials, the indictment noted that the extremists reportedly referred to Turkey as a “war zone,” labeling the Turkish government as “apostates” and calling the Turkish state “Satan.” Continue Reading →

“Somebody knocked on the main door. They offered meals to the guard, who politely refused,” said Tajamul Hussain, a police official.
“Five more men climbed into the house using the back door, overpowered the guards and tied their hands behind their back. They asked Weinstein’s driver to knock on his bedroom door. When the US citizen opened the door, they snatched him.”
No one has yet claimed responsibility for the abduction. Kidnappings in Pakistan are common, both by criminals and the Pakistani Taliban and other Islamic militant groups, which use the ransom money to fund their activities.
Mr Weinstein was working as the Pakistan country director of Virginia-based development company J.E. Austin Associates. He described his work as supervising a four-year $11 million “competitiveness project”, funded by the American government, which was involved in dairy, horticulture, furniture, and medical equipment projects.
You have to read this whole article to finally get who did it. It reads, ‘gunmen gunmen gunmen’ as if it was NRA members destroying tourism in all of Africa. Eventually they bother to mention its religious Muslims, AKA, Al-Queda.
The co-chairman of Britain’s Conservative Party, Sayeeda Warsi, has delivered a speech about antisemitism to the European Institute for the Study of Antisemitism. I am sure that Baroness Warsi means well. I am sure that she is personally genuinely opposed to bigotry and prejudice in any form. I would therefore like to be able to say it was a fine speech. I cannot do so. Despite much in it that was worthy and unexceptionable, in one vital respect it was a travesty – made no more palatable by the fact that many Jews subscribe to precisely the same lethally misguided misapprehension.
This revolves around the comforting but mistaken notion that Jews and Muslims stand shoulder to shoulder against the same threat by racists and bigots. It’s the argument that says ‘antisemitism = Islamophobia’. And it’s the claim that there is nothing intrinsically threatening to Jews within Islam.
All three notions are false. All three notions are promoted by many Jews. All three were to be found in Baroness Warsi’s speech.
She said:
‘The ugly strain of anti-Semitism found in some parts of the Muslim community arose in the late 20th century. The point is that there’s nothing in our history which suggests that hatred between Muslim and Jews is inevitable.’
This is total rubbish. Muslim persecution of the Jews started in the 7th century with the birth of Islam and has continued ever since. It is true that down through the decades persecution of the Jews by Christians was more savage and barbaric than by Muslims. It is also true that there were periods when Jews prospered under Muslim rule. But the so-called ‘golden age’ for Jews in Muslim lands was very short indeed. The true history is a general story of humiliation, persecution and pogroms.
I wonder if UNESCO called in the Afghan prime minister when he incited a riot in Afghanistan that caused the actual death of UN employees there as well as the torching of the UN building in Kabul.
By Barak Ravid Tags: Ramallah Palestinians UNESCO Haaretz
Israel’s ambassador to UNESCO didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when a senior official at the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization called him in for a tongue-lashing on Wednesday. The reason? A cartoon published in Haaretz.
The November 4 cartoon, a riff on the government’s anger at UNESCO’s decision to accept Palestine as a full member, showed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak sending an air force squadron to attack Iran, with Netanyahu ordering, “And on your way back, you’re gonna hit the UNESCO office in Ramallah!”
The editorial cartoon in question. Photo by: Eran Wolkovsky When he met with Eric Falt, UNESCO’s assistant director general for external relations and public information, Ambassador Nimrod Barkan was stunned to be handed a copy of this cartoon and an official letter of protest from UNESCO’s director general, Irina Bokova. Falt told Barkan the cartoon constituted incitement.
“A cartoon like this endangers the lives of unarmed diplomats, and you have an obligation to protect them,” Falt said, according to an Israeli source. “We understand that there is freedom of the press in Israel, but the government must prevent attacks on UNESCO.”
Barkan pointed out that the government has no control over editorial cartoons printed in the papers. “Ask yourselves what you did to make a moderate paper with a deeply internationalist bent publish such a cartoon,” he suggested. “Perhaps the problem is with you.”
After Barkan reported the conversation to the Foreign Ministry, it cabled back: “What exactly does UNESCO want of us – to send our fine boys to protect UNESCO’s staff, or to shut down the paper? It seems your work environment is getting more and more reminiscent of ‘Animal Farm.'”
So as I understand it, if you make a joke about a UN agency in a newspaper, and a well earned one, you get reprimanded in person. But if you deliberately and knowingly incite a riot that causes the deaths of many UN employees and destruction of UN property, you don’t even get an angry letter. At least not that I am aware of.
Throughout Scandinavia as well.

(VG.no AP) Somali terrorist network with ties to Norway is managed from the Swedish suburb of Rinkeby .
It often begins on the internet. Curious young men, for it is mostly men, are swayed by hate propaganda and film clips of bullets and gunpowder. But women are also lured into the embrace of extremism.
Scandinavian-Somali members of the al-Shabaab focus on online recruiting, says Stig Jarle Hansen, one of the most prominent experts on Somalia.
In a upcoming report from the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI) that VG net has access to, it emerged that a Norwegian-Somali man was killed in Somalia in the winter of 2011. He is alleged to have been radicalized by al-Shabaab Islamists with branches throughout Scandinavia.
– The group has a local focus but a global rhetoric and an increased focus on overseas, says the researcher.
And the Norwegian citizen who was killed in Somalia this winter is said to have had contact with people in Sweden and Finland, before he later joined the terrorist group al-Shabaab.
Central to the network is a radical environment in the suburb of Rinkeby in Stockholm.
From here, many Swedes have traveled to Somalia to fight ‘holy war’ there.
The suburb is colloquially known as “Little Mogadishu” because so many Somalis live there.
No one convicted
Several other Scandinavian Somalis have been recruited by the same network. Among these, several Swedes lost their lives as “holy warriors” in Somalia.
But no one in the network, which continues to recruit according to VG net, has ever been convicted. Two Swedish-Somalis were brought to justice, but acquitted because the court did not think there was proof that Shabaab were terrorists.
Not surprised
Magnus Ranstorp at the Defence College of Sweden is not surprised that Somalis from all the Scandinavian countries are being recruited for terrorism.
From Sweden there have been 15 to 20 individuals who have gone to fight jihad in Somalia.
– There is a natural link to Oslo through the Somali community in Gothenburg. Operationally there is a belt from Copenhagen via Malmö, Gothenburg and Oslo, said the Swedish terrorism expert.
The same environment is linked to Rinkeby in Stockholm, said Ranstorp.
– I know that there are connections through certain websites and that there are study groups in Gothenburg, says Ranstorp, who also believes that many mid-level leaders in the al-Qaeda-affiliated organization are located in Scandinavia.
Several other Scandinavian Somalis have been recruited by the same network. Among these, several Swedes lost their lives as “holy warriors” in Somalia.
But none of the network, which after the AP experience continues to recruit, has ever been convicted. Two Swedish-Somalis were brought to justice, but acquitted because the court did not think it was shown that Shabaab were terrorists.
Just thought that you would want to know. KGS

(AP) Norwegian-Somali was a model soldier with Norwegian friends. So he traveled to Somalia to fight for Allah.
Without notifying the family or friends, traveled Norwegian-Somali to Somalia and joined the terrorist organization al-Shabaab.
27-year-old is the first known Norwegian citizen who has been killed in fighting for a terrorist organization. He died in March this year, allegedly in a battle with Somali government forces.
In 2005 and 2006 he served with the military service of His Majesty the King’s Guard.
– We have the media been informed that a named civilian has been killed in Somalia. We are also aware that he – like many others – have completed their military service in the Armed Forces a few years back, said Lt. Col. Bent-Ivan Myhre spokesman of the Armed Forces.
Below is an important New York Times op-ed published by Judge Richard Goldstone against the demonization of Israel. This follows his April retraction in the Washington Post of the core charge of the infamous 500-page U.N. report that bears his name: the accusation that Israeli leaders deliberately targeted civilians during the 2009 war with Hamas.
Not surprisingly, the U.N. Human Rights Council’s pro-Hamas Richard Falk, who previously lavished praise on Goldstone, has now launched a vicious personal attack on his former hero.
While it is impossible to undo even a fraction of the Goldstone Report’s catastrophic harm to basic principles of international human rights and humanitarian law, and to Israel’s ability to defend itself from terrorism, UN Watch congratulates Judge Goldstone’s welcome actions. We hope that he will continue to speak out against demonization and double standards, especially as practiced by too many U.N. bodies, including the Human Rights Council that had appointed him.

THE Palestinian Authority’s request for full United Nations membership has put hope for any two-state solution under increasing pressure. The need for reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians has never been greater. So it is important to separate legitimate criticism of Israel from assaults that aim to isolate, demonize and delegitimize it.
One particularly pernicious and enduring canard that is surfacing again is that Israel pursues “apartheid” policies. In Cape Town starting on Saturday, a London-based nongovernmental organization called the Russell Tribunal on Palestine will hold a “hearing” on whether Israel is guilty of the crime of apartheid. It is not a “tribunal.” The “evidence” is going to be one-sided and the members of the “jury” are critics whose harsh views of Israel are well known.
While “apartheid” can have broader meaning, its use is meant to evoke the situation in pre-1994 South Africa. It is an unfair and inaccurate slander against Israel, calculated to retard rather than advance peace negotiations.
I know all too well the cruelty of South Africa’s abhorrent apartheid system, under which human beings characterized as black had no rights to vote, hold political office, use “white” toilets or beaches, marry whites, live in whites-only areas or even be there without a “pass.” Blacks critically injured in car accidents were left to bleed to death if there was no “black” ambulance to rush them to a “black” hospital. “White” hospitals were prohibited from saving their lives. Oh, but she had “a change of heart” right after she got out of the car and watched her son’s controller drive away with her bomb toting tyke. KGS
NOTE: The Palestinians would have named a summer camp after the boy and his mother’s chest would be covered with medals.

IRAQI security forces have arrested a woman whose boyfriend convinced her to send her little boy on a suicide mission and then failed to stop the attack after she had a change of heart.
Sunni widow Suad al-Obaidi, 47, was arrested on Friday along with her allegedly al-Qaeda boyfriend, a Diyala police officer said.
She was arrested in Diyala province, while the boyfriend, Hamid Alwan, 53, was detained in Baghdad.
According to the officer, Alwan convinced Obaidi to send nine-year-old Murtada Latif Kadhem to bomb a Shi’ite mosque in Khales, north of Baghdad, several years ago.
Alwan “took her son with her … by car to the Shi’ite mosque but, on the way there, she started to cry about her son,” the officer said.
“He put her out of the car, and took the son, who was wearing an explosive belt, to the mosque, where he blew himself up.”
Security officials said the December 29, 2006 attack killed at least nine people, including the imam of the mosque, and wounded at least eight.
November 5, 2011 01:21PM A triple suicide bombing of military headquarters in Maiduguri and three roadside bombs in different areas shook northeast Nigeria’s biggest city on Friday, while militants launched multiple gun and bomb attacks two other cities west of it, witnesses and the military said.
It was one of the most violent days in radical Islamist sect Boko Haram’s growing campaign of violence against local authorities in dry, dusty northeastern Borno state.”One soldier and six civilians have been injured by the three suicide bombers in multiple blasts,” Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Mohammed, commander of the Joint Military Taskforce for Borno state, told Reuters. Earlier, three roadside bombs exploded in quick succession in an apparently coordinated strike, hitting the wards of Meduguri and Jajeri and the El-Kanemi College of Islamic Theology, all of them around the time of Friday prayers, sending the Muslim faithful fleeing from their mosques. The northeast’s almost daily shootings and frequent bombings in the past months have been blamed on Boko Haram, whose name means “Western education is forbidden”. The attacks usually target public and religious figures in the poor, semi-arid north. If the attack on the military headquarters is confirmed to be the work of Boko Haram suicide bombers, it will mark the second confirmed time the group have used this tactic.
The other was a suicide car bomb attack against the United Nations’ Nigeria headquarters in Abuja, which killed 26 people and gutted several floors of the building.Boko Haram says it wants sharia law more widely imposed across Nigeria.
It draws much of its support from unemployed youths in the remote, economically deprived north. The group appears to be growing in sophistication and security analysts believe it has made links with al Qaeda’s north African affiliate — al Qaeda in the Islamic Magreb.
A local security source said it was not yet clear if there were any casualties from the three bomb blasts in Maiduguri.
Suspected Boko Haram gunmen later attacked the towns of Damaturu and Potiskum, next to each other about 100 km west of Maiduguri, in Yobe state, and engaged in running gun battles with security forces, witnesses said.Residents heard several explosions, which later turned out to be bombings of small local churches and a police stations, they said.”Several police stations and churches were bombed. The whole problem started around 6 p.m. this evening, when there was exchange of gun fire between the sect and the security operatives,” said Damaturu resident Umar Gambo.
“It’s horrible”.Another witness in Damaturu, a local journalist who declined to be named, said he had seen a group of 10 militants had attacked a mosque and the local police headquarters.”We are all indoors while the fighting is going on. Damaturu and Potiskum my home town are under siege. The Boko Haram sect have taken over the towns and the security men are battling them. No one is safe,” said Potiskum resident Mammam Mohammed.Security forces this week started door-to-door searches for weapons in the northeast, after an arms amnesty for Islamist militants expired on Oct. 31. It was unclear whether or not this spate of attacks was a response to that operation.
Funny but I don’t. Thanks to a reader who posted the search item in a comment on another article I found this and similar articles. QUite interesting how old it is, yet how new it seems.

HANDOUT
Note: This material is is subect to legal complaint by Glenn Neville Ford.Almost everybody has forgotten the first homegrown Islamic terrorist plot on Toronto.
In 1991, five black Muslim followers of the Pakistani movement Jamaat Al Fuqra stood accused of conspiring to simultaneously blow up two Toronto buildings in an attempt to kill 4,500 people.
At the time, the case appeared isolated. Only now can it be seen as part of a series of alleged and proven cases of homegrown Islamic terror in Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa.
Two years before the first World Trade Center bombing and a decade before the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States, Toronto was to become the original ground zero of Islamic terrorism in North America.
The plot was to simultaneously blow up the India Centre cinema (capacity 500) on Gerrard St. E., and the Vishnu Hindu temple (capacity 4,000) in Richmond Hill during the Hindu Festival of Lights when the buildings were expected to be full.
“A cold-blooded conspiracy,” the trial judge called the attempt. “Your actions are despicable and represent a challenge to the very fabric of our society.”
The story begins with Glenn Neville Ford, a Trinidadian native and Muslim convert.
In the mid-1970s he immigrated to Toronto and by 1982 had founded a branch of the Jamaat Al Fuqra sect, led by Pakistani cleric Sheik Mubarik Ali Gilani.
Gilani was the man Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl was to meet when he was kidnapped and killed in 2002. Pearl was trying to confirm an alleged connection between Al Fuqra and “shoe bomber” Richard Reid.
“The mission of this Jamaat al-Fuqra (Army of the Poor) is to lead Muslims to their final victory over Communists, Zionists, Hindus (and) deviators,” Gilani wrote in a book seized by Toronto police, Mohammedan Revelations. Continue Reading →
New Study: What Do Muslim Canadians Want?
“The positive views of Canadian society and political system among Canadian Muslims surveyed are good news. So too is the large majority opposition to Al Qaeda among respondents. Almost two-thirds (65%) “repudiate absolutely” this Islamist terrorist organisation. On the other hand, a significant minority of respondents do not. As Winn and Leuprecht note, “From a security perspective, it is difficult to know if a 65% rate of repudiation [of Al Qaeda] is re-assuring or a 35% failure to repudiate troubling.”
Talk about quiet Canadian understatement.

Over the last four years, at least 400 African children have been abducted and trafficked to the UK and rescued by the British authorities, according to figures obtained by the BBC. It is unclear how they are smuggled into the country but a sinister picture is emerging of why.
Whether it is through leaflets handed out in High Streets or small ads in local newspapers, witch-doctors and traditional African spiritual healers are becoming ever more prominent in Britain.
The work many of them do is harmless enough, but there is evidence that some are involved in the abuse of children who have been abducted from their families in Africa, and trafficked to the UK.
According to Christine Beddoe, director of the anti-trafficking charity Ecpat UK, a cultural belief in the power of human blood in so-called juju rituals is playing a part in the demand for African children.
“Our experience tells us that traffickers can be anybody. They can be people with power, people with money or people involved in witchcraft,” she explains.
“Trafficking can involve witch-doctors and other types of professionals in the community who are using those practices.”
Violent and degrading
Figures compiled by Ecpat, combined with those of the Metropolitan Police and Ceop, the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre, show that at least 400 African children have been abducted and trafficked to the UK and rescued by the British authorities.

Testimonies from many of these children have revealed that once they arrive in Britain, they are exposed to violent and degrading treatments, often involving the forced extraction of their blood to be used for clients demanding blood rituals.
Some of these victims agreed to share their experiences on the promise of anonymity because they still fear their abusers.
One boy explained how witch-doctors took his blood to be used in such rituals: “The traffickers or witch-doctors take your hair and cut your arms, legs, heads and genitals and collect the blood. They say if you speak out I can kill you.”
Another victim feared for her life, saying the “witch-doctor told me that one day he would need my head.
