France’s Fifth Column: Terrorist Infiltration of the Paris Police Force
After years of Islamist terror attacks from Paris to the Riviera that have left hundreds dead, you might think that the French are inured to the fact that they are the jihadists’ favorite target in the Western world. But now they have been shocked into the realization that the situation is even worse than they thought. Last week’s massacre at the monumental Paris Police Prefecture on the Île de la Cité near Notre-Dame cathedral occurred despite repeated government assurances that all possible measures had been taken to prevent further random slaughter. If one of France’s most secure buildings could be infiltrated by a terrorist, commentators are saying this week, no one is safe anywhere.
“This is a major turning point in Islamist terrorism,” says Gilles Kepel, a specialist in Middle East and jihadist studies. “It’s hard to believe that the police [force], which we rely on to protect us and is supposed to be our last rampart against terrorism, can itself be the victim of terrorism, with throats slit in the holy of holies of the Police Prefecture.”
The attack was also a powerful symbol of France’s ingrained, systemic vulnerability to the jihadists. The two countries’ law enforcement systems are too different for an exact analogy, but it’s a bit as if an FBI special agent at the Bureau’s Joint Terrorism Task Force or a CIA operative in the Counterterrorism Center suddenly ran amok. The implications for French — and Western — security are broad and acutely troubling.

In Nam the government had to move the families of the policemen into fortified barracks to keep Charlie from murdering them. The infamous picture of the South Vietnamese General blowing a prisoners brains out helped turn people against the war but the full story is rarely told. The General was the Chief of Police for Saigon, the prisoner was the head of a unit of men that was (during the Tet offensive) going to the homes of all of the police and murdering their families.
This puts a very different slant on the photo.

Alleged Sydney CBD stabbing attacker had ‘material linked to mass crimes’
A knife-wielding man who allegedly went on a rampage through Sydney’s CBD, leaving one woman dead and another injured, was found in possession of material about “mass casualties around the world”.
The man, later identified as 21-year-old Mert Nay, allegedly fatally stabbed a woman, 21, whose body was found in a unit on Clarence Street about 3pm on Tuesday.
A short time earlier, a 41-year-old woman was found with non life-threatening stab wounds to the back. She was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
During the alleged rampage, Nay was captured on video running through the CBD streets, shouting “Allahu akbar” while being chased by members of the public who managed to apprehend him.

Syrian Refugee Charged For Allegedly Planning To Bomb Pittsburgh Church In The Name Of Isis
WASHINGTON (KDKA) — A Pittsburgh resident was arrested on terrorism charges after he allegedly was planning to attack a church on the North Side.
Mustafa Alowemer, a 21-year-old man that was admitted to the United States as a refugee from Syria, is facing one count of attempting to provide material support and resources to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) and two counts of distributing information relating to an explosive, destructive device or weapon of mass destruction.
“Targeting places of worship is beyond the pale, no matter what the motivation,” said Assistant Attorney General Demers. “The defendant is alleged to have plotted just such an attack of a church in Pittsburgh in the name of ISIS. The National Security Division and our partners will continue our efforts to identify and bring to justice individuals in our country who seek to commit violence on behalf of ISIS and other terrorist organizations. I want to thank the agents, analysts, and prosecutors who are responsible for this investigation.”
According to an affidavit, the FBI Pittsburgh Joint Terrorism Task Force, an investigation revealed that the man had plotted to place a bomb on the church and he was inspired by ISIS.

A Syrian refugee living in Pittsburgh was arrested Wednesday in an alleged plot to blow up a church in the name of the Islamic State.
Mustafa Mousab Alowemer, 21, is charged with one count of attempting to provide material support and resources to ISIS, as well as two counts of distributing information relating to an explosive, destructive device or weapon of mass destruction.
Alowemer was born in Daraa, Syria, and admitted to the U.S. as a refugee on Aug. 1, 2016, federal prosecutors said according to the criminal complaint against him. He recently graduated from a Pittsburgh-area high school and does not hold a U.S. passport.
Prosecutors allege that Alowemer said he was planning an attack against the Pittsburgh church in order to “take revenge for our [ISIS] brothers in Nigeria.” Alowemer allegedly plotted to attack the Legacy International Worship Center, a majority black church on the city’s north side, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

Domestic. The man who was shot with several shots by police on Monday morning is not yet identified. That is what police reported during a press conference in the afternoon.
It was about 10 am on Monday morning when a threatening man at Malmo Station screamed that he would set off a bomb.
The threat was so real that the police decided to shoot the man.
The incident is being classified as an attempted murder, but police will not rule out terrorism.
“As long as we cannot rule out that this was a case of terror incident. we (will) work according to that principle”, said police commander Per Olaf Söyseth at a press conference.
During the day, the police conducted several house searches due to the (incident). However, they have not yet been able to identify the man who was shot.
According to the police. the man said that he had filled his bags with weapons and explosive material. The bomb group chose to blow up the bags and are now analyzing the contents.
Police will be (sending) reinforcements to the Malmo vicinity in the coming days.

The suspected parcel bomb detonated on Victor-Hugo Road in Lyon, south-east France around 1730 eastern Europe time (1130 ET) and is reported to have been a package stuffed with “nails, screws, bolts”. The eight injured, which includes an eight-year-old girl, are reported to have sustained light injuries.
