UPDATE: Muslim leaders boycott New York City mayor’s event

I guess this means they could at last enjoy healthy breakfast meat slaughtered in accordance with modern humane laws Muslims are except from.

NEW YORK (Reuters) – More than a dozen Muslim community leaders boycotted an interfaith breakfast organized by Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Friday to protest reported police surveillance of Muslim areas since the September 11, 2001, attacks.

In an open letter to Bloomberg, the leaders accused the mayor of ignoring concerns that the New York Police Department has been using racial profiling and violating civil rights in its anti-terrorism surveillance programs.

“We believe with heartfelt conviction that during times when a community’s rights are being flagrantly violated its leaders cannot in good conscience appear at a public gathering with the government official who is ultimately responsible and smile for the cameras as if all is well, when we know full well that it is not,” the letter said.

The letter cited a series of articles earlier this year by The Associated Press that alleged that police, at times in cooperation with the CIA, infiltrated New York mosques, Muslim bookshops and other Islamic businesses and institutions to gather intelligence without specific evidence of any criminal activity.

The letter was signed by 15 leaders of Muslim organizations based in New York City who said they were turning down their breakfast invitation, as well as the leaders of several dozen other faith organizations and civil rights groups. Continue Reading →

Am I dreaming? or is this for real?

I took screen caps from the White House website cause frankly I can’t believe it.

First one from here:

And the second one from a link in the first one. From December 26 2011

For some reason I am reminded of how on Barry Soweto Hussein Obama’s trip to India he decided not to enter the Sikh’s most important temple to avoid any speculation on his faith  and then visited a mosque in Indonesia on the same trip.

Iranian Muslim slaughters entire family dressed as Santa in Texas.

This is horrible. Of course we will have to wait till the now-mandatory, ‘too late for outrage’ period has passed before we see somewhere on page 23 for half a column inch that he was a devout Muslim and this was an honor killing as his wife forced him out. But for the moment we know his family seemed great, was a good American family who liked all aspects of US life and supported the troops but were Iranian Muslims. Right up to the point where the estranged husband slaughtered everyone dressed as Santa, they were an excellent example of the moderate Muslim.

And frankly even if this was not an honor killing, an Islamic background and imprinted value-set would have been at least a factor in his decision to do what he did.

Here is an article from the Star-Telegram’ which says they were a Muslim family but celebrated Christmas as an American cultural practice.

Cobb County, Ga., police investigate shooting of Jameela Barnette.

  • A Muslim woman who had been charged with sending fake weapons and a pig’s foot to two New York lawmakers was killed during a struggle with a cop in Georgia on Sunday, authorities said.

Jameela Barnette, 53, of Marietta, was slapped with federal charges last month for sending New York State Sen. Greg Ball (R,C-Patterson) a vial of perfume, a hate-filled letter and a doll of the monkey Curious George wearing two Stars of David.

She had also mailed a pig’s foot to Rep. Peter King (R-L.I.) in response to controversial hearings he held in March on the purported radicalization of American Muslims, Politico has reported.

A spokesman for Cobb County Police said an armed Barnette was shot to death after officers responded to a panic alarm she activated at her apartment at 11 a.m. Christmas Day. Continue Reading →

Punk’s not dead — in Islam.

From European Son
The 80s British anarcho-punk band Conflict is hanging in there — like U2, the Rolling Stones, and all the other bands that they no doubt detest. So, as the decades old slogan says, “Punk’s [or ‘Punx’] not dead.” But it’s playing things safe in its old age. On Conflict’s MySpace page there’s a poster for a punk gig with image an of a nun holding a revolver, encircled by the words “Punk illegal” — or “illegal Punk,” perhaps. Only, in Britain, of course, it’s not illegal, and it lost its ability to shock long ago — at least in liberal democracies, that is.

US plans $1 trillion investment in India

What’s a trillion between friends ay? Well, while I doubt the US can afford this, it’s probably worth it just for how much it will piss off Pakistan.

From IBN:

KOCHI: The United States will invest one trillion dollars for infrastructure development in India, said Nirupama Rao, India’s ambassador to the US.

She was speaking at an interactive session organised by the Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and its Ladies’ Forum at the Chamber Hall on Thursday.

In order to discuss the possibilities of investment, a trade delegation led by the United States Commerce Minister will visit India By March, 2012. Discussions towards an ever green revolution similar to the earlier Green Revolution using US expertise to increase agriculture production and rural income will take place.

Space technology for monsoon prediction and for linkage between farm and market will also be considered. Nirupama said that around 2.8 million Malayalis are part of the Indian community in the US.

In terms of trade, business contracts between the two countries have grown exponentially over the last few years. Also, the imports and exports are on the rise. In the last five years, the US exports to India have increased three times and Indian exports to the US have doubled.

The FDI by the US in India has increased seven times, Nirupama added.

Apart from political and strategic cooperation, energy, education, agriculture, science and technology, healthcare, space technology and skill development are the other areas which will be given prominence in the bilateral relations between the two nations. Trade and economic relations will be the central driving force in the multifaceted partnership.

Dec 7th congressional hearing on Islamic terrorism.

I know no one has the time to watch two and a half hours of this but there is gold in this. At least we know some members of the US government are clearly aware of the facts on the ground and hold key members of the Obama administration’s feet to the fire on their obfuscations and avoidance of reality itself.

If I can find some caffeine tablets maybe I will record this all, and edit it for the key bits. But here it is in the meantime. Anyone available to watch this whole thing, please put the times of interesting bits in the comments so I can stitch together a good edit of this.

U.S. authorities probing alleged cyberattack plot by Venezuela, Iran

Washington Times:

U.S. officials are investigating reports that Iranian and Venezuelan diplomats in Mexico were involved in planned cyberattacks against U.S. targets, including nuclear power plants.

Allegations about the cyberplot were aired last week in a documentary on the Spanish-language TV network Univision, which included secretly recorded footage of Iranian and Venezuelan diplomats being briefed on the planned attacks and promising to pass information to their governments.

A former computer instructor at the National Autonomous University of Mexico told Univision that he was recruited by a professor there in 2006 to organize a group of student hackers to carry out cyberattacks against the United States, initially at the behest of the Cuban Embassy.

In an undercover sting, instructor Juan Carlos Munoz Ledo and several selected students infiltrated the hackers and secretly videotaped the Iranian and Venezuelan diplomats.

Reports about Iran’s involvement in the suspected plot come amid the Islamic republic’s refusal to return a sophisticated, unmanned U.S. spy plane that crashed inside its borders this month. Iranian officials have laid claim to the drone, vowing to research it for its technology.

Calling the reports “disturbing,” State Department spokesman William Ostick said federal authorities are examining the cyberplot allegations but added that U.S. officials “don’t have any information at this point to corroborate them.”

Sen. Robert Menendez, New Jersey Democrat and chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere, called for hearings in the new year about Iranian activities in Latin America.

Some House lawmakers called for the expulsion of a Venezuelan diplomat in the U.S. who is implicated in the suspected plot.

The Univision documentary fanned fears among lawmakers that Iran’s recent diplomatic outreach in the region, particularly to Venezuela’s anti-American leftist President Hugo Chavez, might be a front for nefarious activities.

Earlier this year, U.S. prosecutors charged an Iranian official based in Tehran with trying to recruit a Mexican drug cartel to kill the Saudi ambassador to the United States by bombing a Washington restaurant.

“If Iran is using regional actors to facilitate and direct activities against the United States, this would represent a substantial increase in the level of the Iranian threat and would necessitate an immediate response,” Mr. Menendez said.

An aide to Mr. Menendez told The Times that the Univision report, which also said that Iranian extremists were recruiting young Latin American Muslims, is “one of a variety of concerns we have about Iran’s efforts to engage with countries and other actors in the region.”

Next year’s hearing will examine Iran’s “political and commercial outreach, as well as more nefarious activities,” the aide said.

“We monitor Iran’s activities in the region closely,” Mr. Ostick said. “That vigilance led to the arrest of the individual responsible for the recent assassination plot” against the Saudi ambassador.

“We constantly monitor for possible connections between terrorists and transnational criminals.”

Seattle jihadi pleads guilty to terror plot

The guy’s name is Walli Mujahidh – who could have possibly seen this coming?
=============
One of two men authorities say were inspired by the 2009 mass killing at a Texas military base pleaded guilty Thursday to planning an attack on a Seattle military-recruiting station with machine guns and grenades.

Walli Mujahidh faces up to 32 years in prison for the plea to federal charges of conspiracy to kill officers of the United States, conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction and unlawful possession of a firearm.

His attorney, Michele Shaw, said Mujahidh, 32, has a long history of “chronic, relentless” mental illness, including 12 stays at psychiatric hospitals. He has been diagnosed with schizo-affective disorder with bipolar tendencies.

The Los Angeles man was arrested in June along with Khalid Abdul-Latif of Seattle in an FBI sting. Federal prosecutors say the men were taken into custody when they arrived at a warehouse garage to pick up machine guns to use in the attack. The purported target, the Military Entrance Processing Station on East Marginal Way in Seattle, was a recruiting station for all military branches.
