Why they fight and why we are not. A clarification urgently needed.

There is a simple but crucial misunderstanding by the average decent fair minded European or North American which causes us to place ourselves at a distinct disadvantage to the jihadis in our midst. We believe in creating a territory within which, each person or group is free to express themselves how we choose to so long as it causes no major harm to others. We fight amongst ourselves as to where the lines need to be drawn. Whether an activity is truly harmful or not and where to allow an activity such as smoking in bars or cleaner energy and so on. But ultimately it stems from the principles stated above.

What we utterly fail to recognize is that Muslims world wide feel any law but sharia is an abomination. That any area which they claim is rightfully Islamic lands, and while ultimately this includes the whole world , for the moment it means any and all lands once governed by Muslims at any point in it’s history, must be governed by sharia or divine law.

This precludes any choices. When George W. Bush claimed simplistically perhaps, “They hate our freedoms” he was bang on the money. They do indeed hate our freedom to be anything other than Muslim and to govern according to any principle other than sharia law. Below is a fatwa from islam online which is a clear if chilling statement of principle and obligation for all Muslims living anywhere on earth. I would like to add that its a clear reason to end all Islamic immigration to the west immediately and perhaps even reversing it for all Muslims who have broken any laws or advocated the overthrow of our government and way of life. Special thanks to Grace for digging through the dirt to find this gem.

Wa `alaykum As-Salam Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

First of all, we would like to thank you for the great confidence you have in us. We hope our efforts meet your expectations.
It is the duty of every Muslim to support all his fellow Muslims in all times especially at times of calamities as all Muslims constitute one body when an organ of it aches, all the other organs feel ill as a result. In his Hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stated: “A Muslim is a brother of a Muslim. He must not wrong him, nor fail him, nor hand him over (to enemies).” Muslim scholars state that there is nothing wrong in paying the Zakah as well as sadaqah to oppressed Muslims in Iraq, Palestine, Kashmir, Burma and in every part of the world.

In his response to the question, Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, the prominent Muslim scholar, states the following:

The meaning of Jihad in our present time particularly refers to striving to liberate Muslim lands from the grip of the disbelievers who usurped them and imposed on them their own laws in lieu of the Divine Law. Those disbelievers may be Jews, Christians or both or even pagans, who follow no particular religion at all. Disbelievers are all alike.

Capitalists, Communists, Westerners, Easterners, People of the Book and pagans are by no means different from one other. They should all be fiercely fought if they attempt to occupy any part of the Muslim land. This duty falls on those closest to the occupied land, who should be aided by those closest to them, who, in turn, ought to be aided by those closest to them, till it becomes incumbent on all Muslims to take part in Jihad.

Muslims have never been more severely afflicted than they are nowadays. Many of their lands have been captured by the disbelievers, on top of which is Palestine that has fallen victim to corrupt Jews. Similarly, Kashmir has been dominated by pagan Hindus. Chechnya and other Islamic states have fallen in the grip of pagan tyrannical communism.

Retrieving these lands, freeing them from the clutches of atheists and their twisted laws is the joint responsibility of all Muslims. Declaring Jihad to save our land is an Islamic obligation.

If war is waged anywhere to achieve this goal, namely to free the occupied lands of the laws and the tyranny of disbelievers, it is undoubtedly a case of Jihad for the sake of Allah. It thus needs to be financed from the money of Zakah, the amount of which is to be decided based on the total sum of the charity, the requirements of Jihad as well as the degree of the need of other potential recipients of charity. This is all to be decided by reliable scholars, if they are to be found.

What needs special attention is the warping of a central thesis in this ‘fatwa’. When they say captured lands they mean a free area where Muslims in no way are prevented from worshiping or living as a Muslim but where they are not able to impose their laws on everyone else. This distinction is not subtle. When they mean liberate, they mean to impose some of the most draconian and restrictive laws the planet earth has ever seen. Two clear facts need to be recognized and applied to any moral equation with respect to Islam and the rest of the world.

Muslims who emigrate to other nations are not forced to by those nations. They chose to live amongst us.

We do not force them to our values or way of life. We allow them near perfect freedom to believe and act as they will short of breaking secular laws governing abuse of other human beings whether its women children or anyone at all. They would however, impose their values on us in our own homes as they do in all Islamic lands.

In Toronto, anti-Israel demonstrators yell “You are the brothers of pigs!,” and a protester complains to his interviewer that “Hitler didn’t do a good job.”

In Fort Lauderdale, Palestinian supporters sneer at Jews, “You need a big oven, that’s what you need!”

In Amsterdam, the crowd shouts, “Hamas, Hamas! Jews to the gas!”

In Paris, the state-owned TV network France-2 broadcasts film of dozens of dead Palestinians killed in an Israeli air raid on New Year’s Day. The channel subsequently admits that, in fact, the footage is not from Jan. 1, 2009, but from 2005, and, while the corpses are certainly Palestinian, they were killed when a truck loaded with Hamas explosives detonated prematurely while leaving the Jabaliya refugee camp in another of those unfortunate work-related accidents to which Gaza is sadly prone. Conceding that the Palestinians supposedly killed by Israel were, alas, killed by Hamas, France-2 says the footage was broadcast “accidentally.”

In Toulouse, a synagogue is firebombed; in Bordeaux, two kosher butchers are attacked; at the Auber RER train station, a Jewish man is savagely assaulted by 20 youths taunting, “Palestine will kill the Jews”; in Villiers-le-Bel, a Jewish schoolgirl is brutally beaten by a gang jeering, “Jews must die.”

In Helsingborg, Sweden, the congregation at a synagogue takes shelter as a window is broken and burning cloths thrown in. in Odense, principal Olav Nielsen announces that he will no longer admit Jewish children to the local school after a Dane of Lebanese extraction goes to the shopping mall and shoots two men working at the Dead Sea Products store. in Brussels, a Molotov cocktail is hurled at a synagogue; in Antwerp, lit rags are pushed through the mail flap of a Jewish home; and, across the Channel in Britain, “youths” attempt to burn the Brondesbury Park Synagogue.

In London, the police advise British Jews to review their security procedures because of potential revenge attacks. The Sun reports “fears” that “Islamic extremists” are drawing up a “hit list” of prominent Jews, including the Foreign Secretary, Amy Winehouse’s record producer and the late Princess of Wales’ divorce lawyer. Meanwhile, The Guardian reports that Islamic nonextremists from the British Muslim Forum, the Islamic Foundation and other impeccably respectable “moderate” groups have warned the government that the Israelis’ “disproportionate force” in Gaza risks inflaming British Muslims, “reviving extremist groups,” and provoking “UK terrorist attacks” – not against Amy Winehouse’s record producer and other sinister members of the International Jewish Conspiracy but against targets of, ah, more general interest.

Forget, for the moment, Gaza. Forget that the Palestinian people are the most comprehensively wrecked people on the face of the Earth. For the past 60 years they have been entrusted to the care of the United Nations, the Arab League, the PLO, Hamas and the “global community” – and the results are pretty much what you’d expect.

You would have to be very hardhearted not to weep at the sight of dead Palestinian children, but you would also have to accord a measure of blame to the Hamas officials who choose to use grade schools as launch pads for Israeli-bound rockets, and to the U.N. refugee agency that turns a blind eye to it. And, even if you don’t deplore Fatah and Hamas for marinating their infants in a sick death cult in which martyrdom in the course of Jew-killing is the greatest goal to which a citizen can aspire, any fair-minded visitor to the West Bank or Gaza in the decade and a half in which the “Palestinian Authority” has exercised sovereign powers roughly equivalent to those of the nascent Irish Free State in 1922 would have to concede that the Palestinian “nationalist movement” has a profound shortage of nationalists interested in running a nation, or indeed capable of doing so. There is fault on both sides, of course, and Israel has few good long-term options. But, if this was a conventional ethno-nationalist dispute, it would have been over long ago.

So, as I said, forget Gaza. And, instead, ponder the reaction to Gaza in Scandinavia, France, the United Kingdom, Canada, and golly, even Florida. As the delegitimization of Israel has metastasized, we are assured that criticism of the Jewish state is not the same as anti-Semitism. We are further assured that anti-Zionism is not the same as anti-Semitism, which is a wee bit more of a stretch.

Only Israel attracts an intellectually respectable movement querying its very existence. For the purposes of comparison, let’s take a state that came into existence at the exact same time as the Zionist Entity, and involved far bloodier population displacements. I happen to think the creation of Pakistan was the greatest failure of post-war British imperial policy. But the fact is that Pakistan exists, and if I were to launch a movement of anti-Pakism it would get pretty short shrift.

But, even allowing for that, what has a schoolgirl in Villiers-le-Bel to do with Israeli government policy? Just weeks ago, terrorists attacked Mumbai, seized hostages, tortured them, killed them, and mutilated their bodies. The police intercepts of the phone conversations between the terrorists and their controllers make for lively reading:

“Pakistan caller 1: ‘Kill all hostages, except the two Muslims. Keep your phone switched on so that we can hear the gunfire.’

“Mumbai terrorist 2: ‘We have three foreigners, including women. From Singapore and China’

“Pakistan caller 1: ‘Kill them.’

“(Voices of gunmen can be heard directing hostages to stand in a line, and telling two Muslims to stand aside. Sound of gunfire. Sound of cheering voices.)”

“Kill all hostages, except the two Muslims.” Tough for those Singaporean women. Yet no mosques in Singapore have been attacked. The large Hindu populations in London, Toronto and Fort Lauderdale have not shouted “Muslims must die!” or firebombed Halal butchers or attacked hijab-clad schoolgirls. CAIR and other Muslim lobby groups’ eternal bleating about “Islamophobia” is in inverse proportion to any examples of it. Meanwhile, “moderate Muslims” in London warn the government: “I’m a peaceful fellow myself, but I can’t speak for my excitable friends. Nice little G7 advanced Western democracy you got here. Shame if anything were to happen to it.”

But why worry about European Muslims? The European political and media class essentially shares the same view of the situation – to the point where state TV stations are broadcasting fake Israeli “war crimes.”

As I always say, the “oldest hatred” didn’t get that way without an ability to adapt: Once upon a time on the Continent, Jews were hated as rootless cosmopolitan figures who owed no national allegiance. So they became a conventional nation state, and now they’re hated for that. And, if Hamas get their way and destroy the Jewish state, the few who survive will be hated for something else. So it goes.

But Jew-hating has consequences for the Jew-hater, too. A few years ago the poet Nizar Qabbani wrote an ode to the intifada:

so teach us madness.

You can just about understand why living in Gaza would teach you madness. The enthusiastic adoption of the same pathologies by mainstream Europe is even more deranged – and in the end will prove just as self-destructive.

U.N. Agency That Runs School Hit in Gaza Employed Hamas and Islamic Jihad Members

The United Nations agency that administers a school in Gaza where dozens of civilians were killed by Israeli mortar fire last week has admitted to employing terrorists to work at its Palestinian schools in the past, has no system in place to keep members of Hamas or Islamic Jihad off its payroll, and provides textbooks to children that contain hate speech and other incendiary information.

A growing chorus of critics has taken aim at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in recent years, although momentum on Capitol Hill has been slow. But last week’s incident, which Israel maintains was prompted by Hamas operatives firing mortars at Israelis from a location near the school, has prompted some lawmakers to scrutinize the U.N. agency.

Rep. Steve Rothman, D-N.J., introduced a resolution in the fall calling for greater transparency and accountability at UNRWA. The bill called on the agency to make its textbooks available on the Internet for public inspection and to implement “terrorist name recognition software and other screening procedures that would help to ensure that UNRWA staff, volunteers, and beneficiaries are neither terrorists themselves, nor affiliated with known terrorist organizations.”

Rothman said he plans to re-introduce his UNRWA resolution in the coming weeks because, “as timely as this bill was before, it is even more timely now. It is urgent that Congress can be assured that U.S. taxpayer money is not being spent to support Hamas and its murderous activities.”

A View from the Target Zone. Letter from an Israeli physicist on living in the target zone

Haim Harari is a world-renowned Israeli physicist, a fifth-generation Israeli, whose great-great-grandmother was already born in Jerusalem. His family thus has lived continuously in Jerusalem for over one hundred fifty years. He wrote the best book on terrorism I ever read, entitled

View from the Eye of the Storm: Terror And Reason in the Middle East

This book has become a kind of a best-seller, and the paperback edition is about to be released at the end of January. After reading his book I wrote to Haim Harari and since then we have become e-mail friends, and have been keeping in touch. He sent me and other friends the following report on 8 January.

A View from the Target Zone

Haim Harari

January 2009

These words are written a short distance away from the most northern hit, so far, of the Hamas missiles, which are methodically aimed only at the civilian population in Israel. You may refer to this message as “A View from the Target Zone.”

For eight years, approximately 5000 rockets have been sent deliberately into Israeli population centers, by the Hamas terrorists. The rockets are extremely inaccurate. The good news is that they often hit an empty field. The bad news is that, when they do hit buildings and people, they kill, maim and destroy. It is a very ugly game of Iranian Roulette.

But the most significant fact is that the undisputed purpose of the rockets is to kill civilians in a random manner. Since they miss entire towns, they could not possibly be aimed at military or strategic targets. No claim is made by Hamas of anything other than a deliberate attempt to kill civilians within Israel. The world knows about the rockets but rarely mentions that they are aimed only at the civilian population and at nothing else.

Hamas consistently refers to Israel itself as “the occupied territory.” It refers to any town in Israel as an “illegal settlement.” Its declared aim is to destroy Israel. It has proudly endorsed, initiated and sent numerous suicide murderers into Israeli buses, supermarkets, shopping malls, weddings and other crowded places. It explicitly states that it will continue to do so. Since Israel succeeded in preventing the suicide murders by a combination of the protective wall, other defensive measures and good intelligence penetration, the missiles became the preferred way of killing Israeli civilians.

Hamas is declared to be a terrorist organization, not only by Israel, not only by the US, but also by the European Union, who is not suspected of being pro-Israeli. This is the same European Union that refuses to label Hizbullah as a terror organization, but repeatedly and officially declares Hamas as such. Hamas is fully funded and largely controlled by Iran, a country openly and totally committed to the destruction of Israel, while continuing to enjoy trade with much of the western world.

The Muslim failure that is Palestine

Today’s National Post has published an article by veteran columnist George Jonas on the Gaza/Israel conflict. As usual, Mr. Jonas is succinct in his assertion that Gaza is a failed entity cradled in the hands of extremist ideology. I agree and further claim Gaza is yet another Muslim failure the rest of the world has to endure.

Judea Pearl, father of murdered son Daniel Pearl, speaks at a UN briefing for NGO’s: ” It may come as a surprise to some of you, but after a century of bloodshed, many negotiations, inter-faith dialogues, and countless UN-funded cultural programs, the majority of Muslims today still reject the idea that Jews deserve a state in some part of Palestine. Instead, Muslims perceive Israel to be a temporary outpost of western colonialism, hastily created out of guilt or greed”.

Mr. Jonas contends; ” If the Arab/Muslim world had a fraction of the interest in creating a Palestinian state as it has in destroying a Jewish one, the Palestinians would have had their country long ago”. Simply put, if the Arab/Muslim world were to relinquish their longs standing hatred of Jews, the Palestinian people would live in prosperity and peace.

“Hamas’s strongest supporters may be in the West, among left-wing activists and media types who have been wrong about everything in world affairs. I suppose it makes sense for terrorists to be sheltered mainly by errorists in the end”.

Hamas’s strongest supporters are indeed in the West, making a mockery out of peace and justice.  To gain a glimpse of gross err, Islamist extremism and all those aboard the ‘peace’ train, attend an anti-Israeli protest in Canada, or France, or Belgium, or the United States, or Denmark, England, or…….

Who is winning in Gaza? Considering that every Hamas rocket fired at Israel does more damage to the interests of Palestinians than to the interests of Israelis, it’s tempting to say that Israel should encourage rather than hinder the terrorists. But saying so would be cheap sophistry. In the end, the interests of Palestinians and Israelis overlap.

The two people share the same small corner of the Earth. What harms one has to harm the other. Since they have to live together, unless they find a way to live together in peace, they’ll have to live in a state of perpetual war.

Three years ago, when Hamas achieved what some media reports described as a “stunning” electoral victory, the American scholar Judea Pearl — father of Daniel Pearl, the Wall Street Journal correspondent abducted and murdered by terrorists in Pakistan — delivered a speech at a United Nations briefing for nongovernmental organizations.

Few would blame Professor Pearl if he were intransigent, but he isn’t. He is, in fact, a particularly eloquent proponent of dialogue.

“It might come as a surprise to some of you,” he told the briefing session, “but after a century of bloodshed, several peace agreements, many negotiations and interfaith dialogues and countless UN-funded cultural programs, the majority of Muslims today still reject the idea that Jews deserve a state in some part of Palestine. Instead, Muslims perceive Israel to be a temporary outpost of Western colonialism, hastily created out of guilt or greed.”

This, I’ve long believed, is the crux of the matter. Until this changes, nothing can change. And unless this changes, nothing will.

When Hamas achieved control of Gaza, it had an opportunity to do something for its people. Many liberal commentators expected that it would, not only in the West but even in Israel. After all, some pundits wrote, Hamas won the election because it was less corrupt than Fatah. It was also better organized. Obdurate rhetoric aside, it would be mellowed by responsibility and power. Now that it had a mandate, Hamas would turn to building infrastructure and improving life in the region vacated by the Jewish occupier.

Yunis Al-Astal : Islam will take over Rome

A few things worth noting about this video. The use of the term ‘Crusader’ or ‘Crusader Capitol’ is new in Islam. HIstoricaly the Muslims never felt the crusades where a noteworthy event. A minor skirmish in which Europeans lost. It has become fashionable only in post modern times for Muslims to croon about the crusades as they saw we had fashioned a rod with them with which we beat ourselves and they are happy to pick it up and continue to beat us with it. I strongly recommend the book, ‘A Concise History of the Crusades’ should anyone be interested in knowing more. It’s very good and clears up a lot of myths about the events and purpose of them. In fact, it is clearly time for another one.

It is also amusing to see this cleric claim that Rome has declared it’s hostility to Islam while in fact Italy has let in over a million Muslims and given them all benefits of a European state and perfect freedom not only to be Muslim but even at this point to harass church goers and practice their faith in the streets and everywhere they can imagine. Its also interesting that while he makes this claim, he himself is actually declaring his hostility to Catholicism.

Gaza’s True ‘Disproportion’

From the Washington Post by way of gates of Vienna

Gaza’s True ‘Disproportion’

The Current Discussion: What’s the most likely outcome of Israel’s invasion of Gaza? A wider war? A Hamas defeat? Just more of the same?

Israelis are being accused of suffering too few casualties in their confrontation with the Hamas terrorists. Those who reason thus usually speak the words “disproportion” or “asymmetry” in an indignant tone. While at this writing close to a thousand Arab Palestinians have died or been wounded as a result of the bombings, the Israeli losses amount to just over a dozen.

Tel Aviv’s critics — from whom an anti-Semitic stench often rises — do not say whether Israel should increase its quota of cadavers or if it must reduce the Arabs’ quota to achieve the reasonable proportion of blood that will soothe the peculiar itch for parity that afflicts them. Nor do they specify the morally permissible number of casualties to end the rain of rockets that for years has been constantly falling on the heads of Israeli civilians.

This demand for “proportionality” can only be called surprising. Until this conflict began, history books everywhere always expressed great satisfaction and a certain chauvinistic pride when a nation’s army inflicted on the enemy a large number of casualties, vis-à-vis a trifling price paid by “our boys.” Israel is the only country expected to behave differently and, in fact, it does; I know of no other nation that announces where and when it will drop its bombs, thus enabling civilians to evacuate the territory. Of course, in this it behaves asymmetrically, because the Hamas terrorists, forever eager to cause the greatest damage possible, never announce when or where they will launch their rockets against Israel’s civilian population.

Bill for keeping control of anti-Israel mobs hits £1 million From The Daily Mail

Taxpayers face a bill of more than £1million after violence erupted during a weekend of demonstrations over the Israeli military action in Gaza.

Extremists were blamed for clashes which broke out near the Israeli embassy in London, as tens of thousands marched in protest over Israel’s offensive.

Police believe a small number of activists tried to hijack the demonstration and turn it into a riot.

Flashpoint: Police hold back protesters marching on the Israeli embassy in Kensington on Saturday

Shop windows were smashed and police pelted with bricks and bottles by masked youths near the embassy in Kensington during the largest demonstration against Israel’s military action. Protesters smashed up a police van before torching an Israeli flag.

Many are thought to have travelled to London with the aim of causing anarchist mayhem at Saturday’s demonstration, organised by the Stop the War Coalition.

It is believed coachloads of Muslim youths with Pakistani origins attended the demonstration after being driven from Yorkshire and the Midlands.

A total of 24 arrests were made, mainly for violent disorder. Three police officers and 20 protesters suffered minor injuries. Scotland Yard sources say the cost of policing Saturday’s demonstration, and other Gaza-related protests in London over the past week, already exceeds £1million.

Metropolitan Police Commander Bob Broadhurst hit out at ‘the irresponsible and criminal actions’ of the rioters.

‘A hard core of demonstrators has undermined the cause of the vast majority of demonstrators, who are law abiding citizens wishing to protest peacefully,’ he said.

Yesterday, there were two more demonstrations in Central London. Thousands of Israeli supporters gathered in Trafalgar Square. A rival pro-Palestinian march, attended by several hundred, started from Marble Arch. Both passed off peacefully.

In an open letter to a Sunday newspaper, 11 prominent British Jews called on Israel to end its military campaign in Gaza.

Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert said yesterday that his country’s deadliest ever military offensive in the Gaza Strip was nearing its goal, but fighting would continue for several more days.

Despite global calls for a ceasefire, Israeli troops backed by tanks pushed to the edge of Gaza City while their warplanes continued their attack. At least 26 Palestinians were killed in clashes. Hamas fired at least ten rockets into Israel, but no one was injured.

I also have a question for all the Muslims who periodically trash Colonel Sanders Chicken franchises. Once you get them all, are you going to go after General Tsao? I doubt highly the Chinese will show as much restraint. At least I hope they won’t.

Short clip from CBN. This shows Israeli tolerance to the point of suicide

If there was even a kernel of truth to the claims of the Muslims, Israel would never tolerate any of this. I might add, Israel’s allowance of Islamic worship and free and unrestricted free speech will not be allowed if a western mentality ever fails to be the governing principle in Israel. Should any Islamic group take political power, the observance of any other faith will become as difficult and dangerous as it is in all other Islamic nations.

Hamas MP and Cleric Yunis Al-Astal in a Friday Sermon: We Will Conquer Rome, and from There Continue to Conquer the Two Americas and Eastern Europe

Following are excerpts from an address by Hamas MP and cleric Yunis Al-Astal, which aired on Al-Aqsa TV on April 11, 2008.

Yunis Al-Astal: Allah has chosen you for Himself and for His religion, so that you will serve as the engine pulling this nation to the phase of succession, security, and consolidation of power, and even to conquests thorough da’wa and military conquests of the capitals of the entire world. Very soon, Allah willing, Rome will be conquered, just like Constantinople was, as was prophesized by our Prophet Muhammad. Today, Rome is the capital of the Catholics, or the Crusader capital, which has declared its hostility to Islam, and has planted the brothers of apes and pigs in Palestine in order to prevent the reawakening of Islam – this capital of theirs will be an advanced post for the Islamic conquests, which will spread through Europe in its entirety, and then will turn to the two Americas, and even Eastern Europe.

I believe that our children or our grandchildren will inherit our Jihad and our sacrifices, and Allah willing, the commanders of the conquest will come from among them. Today, we instill these good tidings in their souls, and by means of the mosques and the Koran books, and the history of our Prophets, his companions, and the great leaders, we prepare them for the mission of saving humanity from the hellfire on the brink of which they stand.
