Israeli PM Binyamin Netanyahu just made the following speech in front of the Knesset:

I have no idea if this is for real or not. I just got it in email with no link but from a good source. Frankly I find it too good to be true. It reads more like what he should say rather than anything he would say. But either way, here it is.

UPDATE: The fellow who sent it to me told me he fell for a hoax

UPDATE #2: TO BE PERFECTLY CLEAR: THIS SPEECH IS A HOAX AND WISHFUL THINKING

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu just made the following speech in front of the Knesset:

To Ismail Haniya, and the leaders and operatives of Hamas:

We, the people of Israel, owe you a huge debt of gratitude. You have succeeded where we have failed. Because never before, in the history of the modern State of Israel, has the Jewish people been so united, like one person with one heart. You stole three of our most precious children, and slaughtered them in cold blood. But before we could discover the horrible truth, we had 18 days of pain and anxiety while we searched for them, during which our nation united as never before, in prayer, in hopes, in mutual support.

And now, as you continue to launch deadly missiles indiscriminately, intended to maim and murder as many civilians as possible, while you take cowardly refuge behind your own civilians – you continue to inspire us to hold strongly onto our newly discovered unity. Whatever disputes we Jews may have with each other, we now know that we have one common goal: we will defeat you. Continue Reading →

Is Israel ‘the perfect weapon’?

Sam Harris, i believe it was in his riveting book, End of Faith, used a rhetorical device to illustrate the difference between Islam and other groups. Paraphrasing from memory, and with apologies for any distortion I may make in advance to Mr. Harris, he wrote something like:

‘Imagine the perfect weapon. One which would do as much or as little damage as you want, precisely in the way you want it to, and with exactly as much or little collateral damage as you need it to’.

Yesterday, Israel carried out an attack on Hamas targets in retaliation for the kidnapping and murder of three Amer-Israeli teens in Judea/Samaria some weeks ago, their bodies having been discovered only yesterday afternoon, june 30 2014.

According to news sources, Israel managed to hit over 30 targets associated with Hamas, and shooting one man who threw a grenade at Israelis conducting an arrest of someone thought to be associated with the murders. Zero collateral damage appears to have happened in the attacks and no non-targetted deaths of unrelated individuals as well. This shows not only awesome restraint, but awesome power. It means that in a very real sense, Israel is Sam Harris’ ‘perfect weapon.’

This does beg the question for critics of Israel, many of whom can be read on the National Post article on the discovery of the bodies yesterday:

‘What would Israel’s enemies do if they had that kind of power’? The same question Sam Harris asks in his book.

This should, with all honest people, settle the issue of the moral high ground definitively.

A few articles on recent events in Israel.

1. A rocket fired from Gaza causes a fire in a factory in Sderot

Rocket fire on the Israeli south continues: Two rockets hit Sderot in first attack, one hits factory and the other an open area, two others hit open areas in Sdot Negev.

2. Israelis take out a couple of terrorists with rather precision ornaments

3. An article translated by Oz-Rita from the French Jewish Defense League:

Magnificent targeted elimination of 2 terrorists in Gaza.

No collateral victims. Perfect clean-up. Bravo Tahal!

Two Arabs, called incorrectly “Palestinians”, have been neutralized Friday in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza, near the house of the ex-leader of the terrorist government of islamist Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh.

The remains of the two responsibles for launching rockets on Israel, killed in the magnificent Israeli raid in their car, arrived in separate small pieces at the Hospital Al-Chifa of Gaza.
The 2 Nazislamists have been identified as Oussama al-Hassoumi, 29 y.o. from Beit Lahia, in the North of Gaza and Mohammad Fassih, 24 y.o. from the town of Gaza. We wish them a nice time in hell for eternity.

Meanwhile the Israeli Minister for Defence, Moshe Yaalon has assured us that Israel “will react firmly to any rocket attack against its territory or against its civilians or Israeli soldiers as we did today”. “We hold Hamas responsible for everything that happens in Gaza, and we advise them to not tempt our patience and our determination” the Minister added.

Israel is serious about Hamas and the kidnapped teens.

Ya’alon: We won’t cease or rest until we find the abducted teens

Everything linked to Hamas is being targeted,” says source; soldiers enter Balata and Awarta areas of Nablus; IDF says in protracted campaign to weaken Hamas.

In a statement to the media on Tuesday evening, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon said that the IDF had the ability to target Hamas leaders, “anywhere and anytime.”

Ya’alon reassured the public that, in spite of the IDF’s general campaign against Hamas, its main mission was to find the teens.

Israel Prepares for Possible Attack by Hijacked Malaysian Plane

Article from Breitbart.com

[Hideously annoying auto-start video removed]

As the possibility–however remote–grows that Malaysia Airlines flight 370 may have been hijacked and taken to a hidden location, Israeli authorities are preparing for the possibility that the hijackers might attempt to use the Boeing 777 to mount an attack.

According to the Times of Israel, Israel’s Channel 2 has revealed that Israeli air defenses have been boosted, and approaching civilian aircraft will be asked to identify themselves far earlier.

Though the flight was presumed at first to have crashed, whole or in pieces, into the ocean, passive satellite transmissions from the aircraft suggest that it made a deliberate course change and may have headed north into central Asia.

2. Iran general: ‘Our hands are on the trigger’ to destroy Israel

Iranian leaders regularly issue threats against Israel and the United States, but the wording ascribed to Salami on Tuesday was particularly aggressive.

“Islam has given us this wish, capacity and power to destroy the Zionist regime so that our hands will remain on the trigger from 1,400 kilometers away for the day when such an incident (confrontation with Israel) takes place,” he was also quoted saying in the speech.
