SPAIN: GENERALITAT BANS PROTEST AGAINST NEW MOSQUE

(ANSAmed) – MADRID, AUGUST 24 – The interior department of the Catalan regional government has banned a protest against the construction of a new mosque in Salt (Girona), which had been organised this coming Saturday by the Plataforma per Catalunya (PxC), a party close to the anti-immigrant right, because of the risk of “serious threats to public order”. So announced the Generalitat sources quoted by the website of the La Vanguardia newspaper.
The ban was agreed on the basis of negative reports filed by the local police in Salt and the Catalan riot police. The interior department fears that protesters could chant xenophobic slogans and provoke clashes between PxC sympathisers, groups of young North Africans and Indignados. The Girona section of the Indignados movement has organised an “anti-fascist” protest on Saturday afternoon to co-incide with the PxC demonstration.
Salt has an immigrant population of 40% and has serious unemployment problems. In recent months, the town has been the setting for violent clashes between ethnic locals and foreigners, fuelled by PxC propaganda. The party’s leader, Josep Anglada, had previously announced that he would attend the protest against the construction of the mosque, which is due to be built in the Torremirona area of Salt. As this site has been under DDOS attack for the past while, and hence the up-and-down nature of operation for the past week or so, it is entirely possible that this person may be good to their threats. We shall know soon I suppose.
Fort Morgan meatpacking plant strives, struggles to accommodate Muslim workforce

FORT MORGAN — One afternoon this summer, Asha Abuukar said, she approached her supervisor at the Cargill Meat Solutions plant and got permission to go on break.
She washed in accordance with Islamic principles and prayed in a “reflection room” Cargill has set aside where beef is boxed and sealed.
When she returned two minutes late, she said, her supervisor told her that if it happened again, she would be fired.
“I’m sorry,” Abuukar, 41, who also runs a Somali market in town, recalled replying. “I was only praying.”
Although Cargill’s Fort Morgan operation has escaped controversy over accommodating the religious needs of its Muslim workforce, an undercurrent of problems exists, according to current and former workers and Somali translators.
Company officials say they respect religious rights and follow the law but cannot undermine a plant that produces 4 million pounds of beef daily.
“We know that some of our employees would like a guaranteed prayer time every day,” said Cargill spokesman Michael Martin. “That is not the legal requirement, and it would be impractical to accommodate this without shutting down the production line.”
He said the company accommodates the vast majority of daily prayer requests.
Under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, employers cannot deny a “reasonable” religious accommodation request as long as it does not pose an undue hardship, according to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Muslims pray five times a day at prescribed times that move depending on the sun’s position. That can pose challenges for plants with many Muslim workers. One-fourth of Cargill’s 2,000 workers are Somali, company officials say.
The number of federal workplace-discrimination complaints filed by Muslims shot up in 2009 and 2010, to almost 800 each year, the EEOC says. Those numbers eclipsed the decade’s previous high mark the year after 9/11. Continue Reading →

This is something I am anxious to see, as Africans have had more horror put on them by Arab Muslims than any other people except possibly Indian Hindus. Iran continues to expand its presence in Central and South American taking advantage of its already close relationship with Venezuela’s despot Presidente Hugo Chavez, a top U.S. general said Friday as he described developments within the U.S. Southern Command to U.S. Senators.
Air Force General Douglas Fraser, commanding officer of the U.S. Southern Command, said Iran has significantly increased the number of Iranian embassies in the region while building “cultural centers” and mosques in more than 15 Latin American countries.
Gen. Fraser reported to the Senate Armed Services Committee that military intelligence confirmed that Iran hosted heads of state from three countries: Bolivia, Guyana and Venezuela.
This was not the first time U.S. Senators from both parties were warned about Latin America’s vulnerability to radical Islam. In 2007, the Bush Administration’s chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Marine General Peter Pace, warned members of the Senate Armed Services Committee that elements of radical Islamic groups were active in South America recruiting and training terrorists.

On August 7, 2011, in a chapel converted to a mosque on Lackland Air Force Base near San Antonio, Texas, the U.S. government officially became a sponsor of the Mahdi. No, not Barack Husein Obama, but a much more serious and overt candidate: Adnan Oktar, a.k.a. “Harun Yahya,” the Turkish Creationist whose followers consider him the “rightly-guided one” of Islamic tradition, expected to come before the end of time to make the entire world Muslim.
Mahdism was my original area of academic specialization within Islamic history (about which I wrote my doctoral dissertation, first book and numerous articles, and which I track via this website); I interviewed Oktar in Istanbul a few years ago; and, finally, I spent time in the military, both enlisted and commissioned, the latter training to be a chaplain. So I have some familiarity with all aspects of this troubling story, which came to my attention early on 14 August 2011 via photos posted to my Facebook page by contacts within Oktar’s organization. I contacted the Public Affairs Officer (PAO) at Lackland and, in summary, was told the following: that such “religious education” classes are provided every weekend from “other” faith perspectives (Latter Day Saints, Buddhists, Pentecostals) besides the main ones (Protestant, Roman Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, Eastern Orthodox); that these are entirely voluntary; that the “program chaplain …was aware of and approved of the speaker.” Continue Reading →
Some ex-pats from Arab lands beg Canada and the US to wake up and focus
‘Some People might be coming, some of whom may be British (but that isn’t the main point) and some of whom, may wish to interfere with the creation of an independent USA, but not all, and we have no right to interfere with these possibly British people until we see what they do, and examine each one on an individual basis’
The above preposterous headline would be the Canadian, legally allowed version of what Paul Revere would have been allowed to say, if he were alive today and attempting to warn anyone about anything.
Please read the document here linked, about a Canadian broadcast standards decision on some TV show where a guy talks about Islam. For the record, I could give this bureaucracy what they wanted in terms of facts etc. Where they mention Arafat, there is lots of video of his speech right after the Oslo accords were agreed to, where he explains quite clearly to his own people that he was bullshitting the Jews and Americans for the upper hand. It is in the excellent movie ‘Farewell Israel‘ which really is a must see for anyone who hasn’t seen it. But all the evidence the CBSC needed is in it.
In any case,
1. this board should not exist
2. Governments have no right to ‘regulate the airwaves or license them’. Bandwidth is unlimited and there simply is no excuse for government to treat Hz. like it was crown land.
3. The opinions of people are always subject to debate but should not be subject to government censorship because that censorship is always and will always be selectively enforced. While they may shut-up a few people who speak facts about Islam, they will never stop Muslims from preaching the central dogma of the faith, which is one of hatred and conquest in any case.
So the repercussions of this decision I have no idea. But I felt it was worth noting that some government regulatory body like this exists, and that they spend an inordinate amount of time and therefore public money discussing and regulating opinion on TV.
Youtube appears to be relaxing the rules required to ban videos. Now, just questioning sharia law or Islam may be enough

Three men arrested after Gatineau shootout

A gun lies on a sidewalk at Greber Boulevard after a shooting at a Gatineau strip club. CBCOne man is in critical condition in hospital after he was shot in the chest in an early-morning shooting at a Gatineau strip club.
A police officer who was nearby heard shots fired from inside Cabaret Taboo, a strip club at 92 Greber Boulevard and called for backup.
Five men were then seen leaving the bar, police said.
Police shot and wounded one of them, but he was able to flee with another suspect in a vehicle and remains at large. The extent of his injuries are not known.
Police later confirmed three of the men were arrested and appeared in Gatineau court late Wednesday afternoon on attempted murder charges.
Shakib Egeh, 26, David Munkonda, 27, and Awad Abdalle Hussein, 27, will each be detained until Aug. 23 when they will make their next court appearance.
Greber Blvd. was closed for a short time as police investigate Wednesday morning.

LOS ANGELES – A Muslim militant has urged American followers to assassinate U.S. talk show host David Letterman, saying his tongue deserved to be cut out, a U.S. intelligence monitoring group said Wednesday.
The SITE intelligence group said the death threat was posted on an online website used by militants after the writer became upset by a joke Letterman made about the death of a leading member of al-Qaida killed in an air strike in Pakistan.
The militant called on Muslims in the United States to “cut the tongue of this lowly Jew and shut it forever,” the threat against Letterman said, according to a translation by SITE. The popular late-night television host is not Jewish.
The FBI said it was taking the threat seriously.
The writer was angered by watching Letterman on his show drawing his finger across his neck while talking about the June death of senior al-Qaida figure Ilyas Kashmiri.
The message was posted on the website Shumukh al-Islam. SITE analyst Adam Raisman told Entertainment Weekly the website was “a clearing house for al-Qaida material” and drew supporters of the group headed by the late Osama bin Laden.
Executives at broadcaster CBS and a spokesman for Letterman declined Wednesday to comment on the threat.
Tim Flannelly, an FBI spokesman in New York, said the agency was looking into the matter.
“The FBI takes all threats seriously and we will run it down like we do all threats,” Flannelly said.
A Muslim group in 2010 threatened the makers of “South Park” after the animated satirical show depicted the Prophet Mohammad in a bear suit. Most Muslims consider any depiction of the founder of Islam as offensive.
A 21-year old man from Virginia was sentenced in February to 25 years in prison for publishing the home addresses of the “South Park” creators and urging readers to pay them a visit, as well as trying to help a Somali militant group.
