Two gay men brutally beaten on way home from movie in NYC.

Amazingly, none of the victims seems to be able to furnish a description of the attackers. They must have been hit very hard indeed. Story here.

Interesting that at the bottom of the article they ask people to call police with information, but without a single descriptor of the perps, well its unlikely anyone would have any. I would wager money that if it was ‘right wing extremists’ or even just a white guy or even just a member of the Republican party we would have a complete description right down to the shoe size.

UPDATED: The Hostage Situation In St. Joseph

Here’s what the grapevine is spitting out.

First, a couple of miles up the river from St. Joseph, on the Mississippi side of the river, is the Grand Gulf nuclear power plant. This is important because some new arrivals to town have been freaking out the locals.

It seems the new arrivals are Yemenis. And the locals are freaked out because they’re scared the new people in town have evil designs on Grand Gulf.

Second, we’re told by someone in law enforcement who is in a position to offer actual knowledge of the case that the suspect in question is of Middle Eastern descent, with a name on his driver’s license indicating that he is of a particular cultural and religious persuasion not common to the Mississippi Delta, and that the suspect is 20 years old.

100 homes evacuated after Louisiana train derailment

Fox:

FoxNews.com

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said late Sunday that chemicals were leaking from a train carrying flammable and corrosive materials that derailed Sunday afternoon and forced the evacuation of around 100 homes.

The evacuated homes were within one mile of the derailment and remained empty as of Monday. Police said at least 26 cars on the 76-car train went off the tracks about 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Lawtell, which is about 60 miles west of Baton Rouge.

“Anytime you have chemicals leaking into the environment, that’s a serious issue,” Jindal said, according to KATC-TV. “Nobody knows the extent of the damage. We’ll get that in the next 24 hours.”
