This clip is rumored to be infuriating Danes and understandably so. It is not dissimilar to the Mullah Krakar interview of a few months ago in Norway that commanded nearly as much attention as it should have, relatively speaking of course.

The interviewer was also pretty sophisticated I thought which is unusual on this subject. Even American TV talking heads seldom know what to ask and are usually used as tools by these people. Even so, the question could have been asked if the muslims wanted to impose their own system on all danes, which would be a non-subtle difference to the other examples the salafist kept referring to, where they wished the right under democracy of non-participation. Muslims do not seek this. They feel it is their obligation to obliterate democracy and impose islamic rule. This interview doesn’t quite manage to express this truth but does lean that way.

Thank you Oz-Rita for finding this and translating it for us.

There were many other powerful and excellent speakers at this event which we hope to be able to subtitle and bring you as well, not the least of which was that fine woman who stood up in that Cathedral in Germany and did the Martin Luther protest when they consecrated the cathedral as a mosque. She, one might imagine, was the inspiration for the woman who did the same thing in Washington DC at the Episcopalian cathedral on Nov 14 this year.

With some luck and hard work, Rita may be able to get that done for us within a day or so as well!

This rally was held in Hannover. The speaker, leader of the HoGeSa group East, was from Dresden. The full name of the group (who participates in the organisation of the by now weekly marches in Dresden) is: “Hooligans Gegen Salafisten” (Hooligans Against Salafists).

As much as this video is revealing about the Islamic zeitgeist, I did enjoy hearing, and perhaps for the first time, an opinion from a deeply religious Muslim leader with which I could agree 100% and without reservation. It felt good actually to realize that devout Muslims and I could have some important common ground.

Tunisian rebirth

Tunisia has banned the radical Islamist group Ansar al-Sharia from holding a meeting in the city of Kairouan.

The government said the group had “shown distain for state institutions” and was “a threat to public security”.

The Salafist group has already vowed to go ahead with the gathering and warned that the government would be responsible for any violence.

Tunisia has seen numerous clashes between the authorities and hardline Islamists since the uprising in 2011.

“The Interior Ministry has decided to ban the gathering of Ansar al-Sharia, which has shown distain for state institutions, incited violence against them and poses a threat to public security,” a statement said.

Tear gas fired as Egyptian Islamists target security HQEgyptian security forces fired tear gas to disperse a small group of hardline Islamist protesters who were attempting to scale the walls of the state security headquarters in a Cairo suburb late Thursday night.

Around 2,000 protesters from several Salafi Islamist groups had staged a protest earlier on Thursday night outside the security headquarters against what they said was a return to the force’s pre-revolution methods.

After security forces fired tear gas, the remaining protesters, some of whom had also attempted to break into a nearby police officers’ club, left the area.

The protest points to lingering suspicion harbored by the hardliners about security agencies used against them by ousted President Hosni Mubarak, and which, they say, Islamist President Mohamed Mursi has been unable to reform.

The bomb blast that wrecked much of the embassy is seen as a reprisal by Libyan militants for the decision by Paris the day before to extend its military mission against fellow jihadists in Mali.

Our Russian correspondent Russkiy, who is fluent in Arabic, has translated a portion of an Al Haya TV program in which a young German is interviewed. The German man converted to Islam as a youth, and then became dissatisfied with Islam, returning to Christianity. The interviewer draws him out on his reasons for leaving Islam.

Not unlike thousands of other people concerned with the issue of Islamisation, I became interested in the subject matter following the 9/11 terrorist attacks. I read the Koran and other Islamic texts and could not help but notice such verses as these:

 

  • Ye who believe! take not the Jews and Christians for your patrons : they are patrons of each other; but whoso amongst you takes them for patrons, verily, he is of them, and, verily, God guides not an unjust people.
  • Kill them wherever ye find them, and drive them out from whence they drive you out; for sedition is worse than slaughter; but fight them not by the Sacred Mosque until they fight you there; then kill them, for such is the recompense of those that misbelieve.

 

I actually had many Muslim friends at that time, so when I read such verses the first thing I thought about was whether my Muslim friends believe in these things, and whether the friendship we shared was false, as the topmost verse quoted above clearly commands Muslims not to befriend non-Muslims.

Germany bans three Salafist groups as anti-democratic

(Reuters) – Germany on Wednesday banned three ultra-conservative Salafist Muslim groups which the Interior Ministry said wanted to overturn democracy and install a system based on sharia, or Islamic law.

The ban, which took effect in the western states of Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia in the early morning, is the latest step taken by German authorities who have increased surveillance of Salafists who espouse a radical version of Islam.

The ministry said it has banned the organizations “DawaFFM” and “Islamische Audios”, as well as “An-Nussrah”, which is part of the “Millatu Ibrahim” group that was outlawed in June.

Some 20 people were searched and assets belonging to the organizations were seized, said the ministry.

Abducted Egyptian Christian Girl Possibly Smuggled to Libya

(AINA) — Hundreds of Christian Egyptian girls having been abducted and forced to convert to Islam and marry Muslim men since the 2011 Egyptian Revolution. But the case of 14 year old Sarah has become symbolic, bringing to confrontation Muslims groups, whose members are implicated in the kidnappings, and the Coptic Church and human rights organizations.

On Sunday, September 30 Sarah Ishaq Abdelmalek, born on August 1, 1998 in the town of el-Dabaa, 130 kilometers from Mersa Matrouh, was on her way to school with her cousin Miriam, when they stopped at a bookshop. Miriam went ahead of Sarah to school, leaving Sarah behind. Sarah never made it to school and no one has seen her since then. Her father was hesitant at first to contact the authorities for fear of harm to his family and his other children by the Salafi Muslims, who have a large presence and influence in Mersa Matrouh and Alexandria. He finally filed a report with the police on October 20, accusing 27 year old bookshop keeper and Salafist Mahmoud Abu Zied Abdel Gawwad, a married man and father of children, of abducting Sarah and marrying her against her will (AINA 11-2-2012).

“Sarah was smuggled across the borders to Libya with the help of the Interior Ministry,” said Ebram Louis, founder of the Coptic non-governmental organization Association of Victims of Abduction and Enforced Disappearance (AVAED), which handles cases of abducted Coptic minors. Louis blamed the interior ministry for all the disappearances of Coptic minors, saying the ministry colludes with the Muslims.

The recently elected Coptic Orthodox Pope Tawadros II said the kidnapping and forced conversion of Sarah is a “disgrace for the whole of Egypt.” During a meeting with a delegation of the Journalists Syndicate Council at Anba Bishoy Monastery in Wadi Natrunon on November 12, he said “Can any family accept the kidnapping of their daughter and her forced conversion?”

The Pope dismissed the term “emotional ties” for what is happening among young men and girls from different religions, cited as the apparent cause of conversions by the Salafists. In an interview with Al Ahram Daily he said it is “sentimental coercion of girls who have not reached adulthood.” The Pope said it is now common among Coptic families not to send their daughters to school because of fear kidnapping and forced conversion. Anba Pakhomios, the bishop of Mersa Matrouk, said Coptic families are increasingly choosing not to send their girls to public schools, making them study at home and only go to school during the examinations.
