Muslim decapitates wife and baby daughter of 13 months

This is the second horrific and unconscionable crime that took place in 2013 and is just coming to trial now. Published June 10th 2016 in La Dernière Heure (The Latest Hour) or DH, a French-language daily newspaper in Brussels, Belgium.

When the investigators asked him how he slaughtered his wife and almost beheaded his daughter Samira of 13 months, Saad responded that he had proceeded “as if slaughtering a sheep.” And when it required clarification, Abdullah Saad said that this process (of slaughtering an animal) consists of “bleeding the animal without having to decapitate it, just for the sacrifice.”

At the autopsy, the coroner of Nivelles (city in Brussels) had to show that the child’s head was only held to the body by shreds of skin and muscles. In short, a near-beheading. Suffice to say that it will be a difficult task for lawyers, Hamid El Abouti and Yannick De Vlaemynck, to avoid the death penalty for the 35-year old Syrian, who will be judged in 10 days by the Criminal Court of Nivelles for the murders of his 23-year old wife, Noura Horiya, and their daughter, Samira, who was playing on the floor with her mother near the clothes dryer just moments before being killed.

The tragedy occurred at the couple’s home on Bon Baton street in Wavre (a Belgian city 20 miles south-west of Brussels) on December 17th 2013. The truth is now known. The atrocity, the monstrous truth. Saad suspected, without proof, that his wife was cheating on him… Saad wanted to know if she was cheating on him, or if she already had cheated on him.

Noura always continued to say no, but he said, “I could see in her eyes that she was lying.” Two and a half years of investigation did not come up with a potential lover. Abdullah Saad, who was always looking, found no one. But he was still convinced that little Samira was not his. In the end, a lover was not found, and the DNA evidence proved in fact the opposite, that Samira “was his daughter by 99.99999%.”

Before arriving in Belgium in 2007, Saad was an officer driver in Assad’s Syrian security services. Regarding the double slaying, he explains: “I killed Noura at the first strike by grabbing her hair with my left hand while slitting her throat with a knife (17-cm curved blade) several times. Then Samira approached me. She was not crying. I stabbed her twice in the neck. She took some small steps and then fell.”

The investigators spoke to him about honor killings. “That does not exist in my region (Syria). I killed Noura because I loved her very much. I have not accepted what she did, Honor was not at all involved in my decision to kill her and Samira.”

Noura wore the veil. The coroner suggested that Saad ripped it off “for easier access to the cervical region.” It should be noted that Saad, who at this stage is presumed innocent, made headlines last year when the court almost released him (DH, May 7th and 8th, 2015) following a procedural error caught by his lawyers.

This is a miscarriage of justice that could be costly . On Wednesday, the Belgian Court of Cassation gave judgment in which it confirmed that a man detained after the murder of his wife and his daughter, was to be released , as reported by the website DH.be. The Court indicated that the criminal was illegally imprisoned since March 11 , because of a procedural error by the Council Chambers of Nivelles.

The latter had indeed forgotten to order the immediate enforcement of the arrest warrant , and in so doing had rendered it illegal. The Belgian Daily reports that, to repair this ” forgetfulness”, a new arrest warrant against the accused will have to be issued and will have to be sent back to the Criminal Court, but this cannot be done before the 26 May.

After the drama, he had fled

In april 2011, the accused appeared in front of the regional tribunal of Jura Bernois Seeland A Bienne. The accused must respond to accusations of murder leading to assassination. The crime was committed in Bienne at the home of the victim that was living separately from the accused, a Moroccan immigrant.

A conjugal conflict is the origin of the drama that most likely took place in the presence of the child of the couple, a 3 year old girl. The man called the police and showed no resistance during his arrest.

The prosecutor, Cindy Maeder, has demanded a sentence that includes 12 years of imprisonment. During his hearing the attorney from the public ministry estimated that the accused had not committed an assassination but a murder. She estimates that this gesture had not been premeditated.

In front of the tribunal, the accused explained that two elements were the origins of his gesture. First, the fact that his wife had made it seem that he would lose his authorization to stay in Switzerland in case of divorce. Also, the announcement that she had found somebody that was supporting her financially, from which he deduced that she had a lover.

The weapon used for the crime, a kitchen knife of 18 cm’s long, (7.1″) was found at the crime scene. the accused admitted to these facts and faces an anticipated execution of his sentence, (if he gets only 4 years he will be free 2 years from now) his defence lawyer traded ‘passionate murder’ specifying that his client was under pressure by the victim until he exploded.

He has requested that the sentence does not exceed 4 years of custody. If the five judges of the tribunal have to maintain the murder charge, he expects that the sentence be limited to no more than 7 and 1/2 years of imprisonment. The verdict is expected Thursday Morning.

A Jordanian doctor who murdered his wife has been freed from jail and deported just weeks after the Parole Board warned he was still a danger, the devastated family of his victim have revealed.

Hassan Shatanawi has never revealed how he killed trainee travel agent Laura May Al-Shatanawi 20 years ago, and her family still do not know what he did with her body.

They fear the 67-year-old, who has shown no remorse, could be anywhere as he is no longer monitored by the UK authorities and may even sneak back into the country.

A man who murdered the mother of his three young children in a ‘savage and prolonged’ knife attack in the back of a taxi has been jailed for life.

Junior Saleem Oakes, who killed Natasha Trevis five days after a social worker ‘let slip’ that she had aborted a fourth child, was ordered to serve at least 22 years before being considered for parole.

Birmingham Crown Court heard that Oakes, 28, of Birmingham, stabbed his victim a total of 26 times in the head, face, neck, chest, back and legs in the city last August.

Man Chops Off Sister’s Head Over ‘Illicit Affair’ in West Bengal

n a shocking incident of a gruesome killing, a brother enraged over sister’s extra-marital affair chopped off her head with a sword in West Bengal on Friday.

Mehatab Alam, 28, a resident of Ayubnagar, West Bengal, beheaded his 22-year-old sister Nilofer Biwi in public. Alam later surrendered to the police at the Nadial police station in South 24 Parganas district holding her sister’s head in one hand and the sword in another. This is first case of honour killing reported in West Bengal.

According to the police, Nilofer married Akbar eight years ago. They have two children – a six year-old son and four-year-old daughter. Last month, she left her husband’

Maiduguri– Friday, about a day after 10 men were killed in Maiduguri, at least 20 women, some clad in mini-skirts and others in slacks, were slaughtered in their Maiduguri homes and college dormitories.

While members of the Boko Haram terrorist organizationare suspected of committing the heinous terrorist acts, police have not confirmed the identities nor arrested any suspects.

Members of the radical Islamic terrorist group believe Western education is sinful. The group is a jihadist militant organization based in northeast Nigeria that violently opposes man-made laws and modern science, according to an allafrica.com report.

Friday, the Nigerian Joint Task Force, Operation ‘Restore Order,’ placed a bounty on suspected terrorists and members of Boko Haram.

The new execution-style violence is different than other recent killings conducted by Boko Haram Muslims in that it targeted women only. Authorities believe the women may have been slaughtered due to dressing in Western style.

A teenage girl was beheaded by a relative in northern Afghanistan after she turned down his marriage proposals, according to reports.

The victim, named as Gisa, was decapitated with a knife in the Imam Sahib district of Kunduz province on Tuesday, local police said. She is believed to be around 15-years-old.

A police spokesman said two men, named as  Sadeq and Massoud, had been arrested following the teenage girl’s murder.

The two men are understood to be close relatives of the victim that live in the same village.

Local police sources have said the men behind the attack wanted to marry the girl, but their advances had been turned down by victim’s father.

Gisa is understood to have been attacked as she returned to her home in Kulkul village after going out to collect water from a nearby well.

Her father told a local news agency he had not wanted his daughter to get married because she was too young.

Afghanistan’s Taliban regime – notorious for its oppression of women in the country – was ousted in 2001, but extreme violence against women is still rife.

In 2009 the Elimination of Violence Against Woman law was introduced in Afghanistan, criminalising child marriage, forced marriage, ‘giving away’ a girl or woman to settle a dispute, among other acts of violence against the female population of the ultra-conservative Islamic nation.

The Zurich cantonal high court has lowered the sentence against a pakistani who two years ago had killed his daughter with an axe: Instead of 17 years, he will now have to serve 13 1/2 years.

In an appeal lawsuit, the 54-year old pakistani who had killed his daughter at the family appartment with an axe, has been sentenced to 13 years and 6 months of prison by the Zurich cantonal high court. It lowered the sentence of the previous level of jurisdiction, for being a case of reduced criminal responsibility.

In april, the lower court had condemned the man for murder to 17 years in prison. Both the defence and the public prosecutor had appealed, the latter demanding 20 years for murder and attempted premedidated manslaughter, the former – considering the event to be a case of manslaughter only – demanding 4 1/2 years.

The public prosecutor considered the act to be a so-called honour killing. The father, loyal to his traditional customs, is to have seen the familiy’s honour threatened by his daughter’s behaviour. Moreover in a situation three weeks before the killing, her father had attempted to put her into the bath tub and kill her with a hair-dryer.

His lawyer depicted the image of a father who was totally overcharged, scolded by his rebellious daughter an ‘arsehole’. Moreover, she announced that she henceforth wished to work as a prostitute. This caused a severe emotion and major psychic stress in him, making him act in the heat of the moment.

Today, also the high court considered the act to be murder, the hair-dryer attack as not effected, just like the previous level of jurisdiction. The lowering of the sentence is due to a pschiatric opinion attesting the defendant a severe reduction of his criminal responsibility.

In may 2010, the pakistani had killed his oldest daughter in the family’s appartment in Z¸rich-Hˆngg, using at least 19 strokes with an axe. The 16-year old student had wanted to move out from at home, because she would no longer tolerate the recurring arguments. After the act, the man called police himself and did not resist his arrest.

In it’s verdict today, the high court denied an honour killing or cultural particularities. ‘Those having lived in Switzerland for 25 years can no longer invoke cultural particularities of their home country’, stated the court president.

He called the way the act was carried out as especially ruthless. According to the court president, the defendant had proceeded in a reprpehensible manner and with much callousness, pointing out that basically, the high court had envisaged a life-long sentence.

A jealous and controlling boyfriend brutally battered his partner to death just days after she refused to have a sexual threesome with him and a male friend, a court heard today.

Tuanjai Sprengel, 43, was stabbed with a kitchen knife by Muhammad Shafi then had her skull shattered with a pair of metal shears, which caused brain damage.

Her body was then dumped in an underpass near her home in Berkshire.

An unemployed and homeless man beat his sister-in-law with a dumbbell bar and cut her throat leaving her to bleed to death in the arms of her young children – out of shame at his lack of ‘status’ in the community.

Foyez Ahmed, 31, flew into a rage and beat 38-year-old Razu Khan before slashing her throat with a kitchen knife, severing her wind pipe and blood vessels, and fleeing the family home.

He was starting a life sentence in jail today, ordered to serve a minimum 22 year prison term at Manchester Crown Court after pleading guilty to murder.
