Two stories out of Iran.

First, a fairly hand-tipping story about Jews from Persian TV. Remember, nothing gets on TV in Iran that isn’t state policy. Even some things that are, land the actors in jail as we saw from a story a few weeks ago. (I will link later)

Also, it seems that there was a fairly large explosion at an arms depot in Iran today. My money is on an accident while transporting dangerous ornaments improperly. But it could be sabotage by the MEC as just one possibility. Certainly the MEC are who the regime seems most frightened of.

Twenty-seven soldiers have been killed in an explosion at a military base near Iran’s capital Tehran, officials say.

The blast occurred when weapons were being moved inside a Revolutionary Guards depot, a spokesman for the elite unit told state TV.

Windows in nearby buildings were shattered and the blast was heard in central Tehran, 40 km (25 miles) away.

Two hours after the explosion a fire still raged and there were traffic jams on nearby roads, a local reporter said.

Local MP Hossein Garousi said “a large part of an ammunition depot exploded,” parliament’s website reported.

Revolutionary Guards spokesman Ramezan Sharif did not say what had caused the “accident” in the village of Bidganeh, near the city of Karaj.

“Some of the casualties are reported to be in a critical condition,” he said.

An emergency worker said that 12 people had been taken to hospital.

Karaj resident Kaveer told the BBC’s Newshour programme that the sound was “deafening”.

“We were kind of shocked. I just ran out of the house and looked around,” he said.

Jews in Malmö in southern Sweden have been the victims of an increased number of hate-crimes in 2011, according to local police.

During the first six months of the year there has been the same number of anti-Semitic crimes reported as were reported for the whole of 2010.

“The increase in reported crime could be due to the police investing in more resources to solve these kinds of crimes, or that the tendency to report is higher now because there are more incidents of an anti-Semitic nature”, Susanne Gosenius, a hate-crimes coordinator with the Malmö police told the TT news agency.

She added, however, that there may very well be a large number of crimes that are never reported to the police. Continue Reading →

OWS and antisemitism. From Bill Whittle

I am a huge fan of Bill Whittle. And I think this video has within it, food for thought. I made my own little video asking questions about this connection.

But I still think the OWS movement is mostly cans-of-cashews, homeless people who need psychiatric help, over-paid and very powerful union leaders sending minions to bloat numbers for unspoken demands and thanks to lots of media attention, Muslim opportunists.

Some of the genuine antisemitism at these things is also opportunistic thanks to the media, ravenous for a sexy story, who picked up on some nuts in NY taken out of context and then, when people saw how much attention and power they got for appearing antisemitic the streets were awash with it both genuine and attention seeking.

Still, this video is worth seeing and thinking about as are all of Mr. Whittles videos.

Every time I write about this situation it seems that the situation goes from bad to worse, if that’s at all possible since the situation for Jews in Malmö has been miserable for quite some time now. Here is yet another article by the NIJ blog about the increase of anti-Semitism. The mayor of Malmö, Ilmar Reepalu bears the full responsibility for the situation for it has been allowed to metastasize under his watch, and has himself poured the gas onto the flames of hatred by insisting that Jews be more critical of Israel in order to stave off the hatred directed towards them. He’s a real sicko.  KGS

UN Watch: Israel and the Apartheid Slander

Below is an important New York Times op-ed published by Judge Richard Goldstone against the demonization of Israel. This follows his April retraction in the Washington Post of the core charge of the infamous 500-page U.N. report that bears his name: the accusation that Israeli leaders deliberately targeted civilians during the 2009 war with Hamas.

Not surprisingly, the U.N. Human Rights Council’s pro-Hamas Richard Falk, who previously lavished praise on Goldstone, has now launched a vicious personal attack on his former hero.

While it is impossible to undo even a fraction of the Goldstone Report’s catastrophic harm to basic principles of international human rights and humanitarian law, and to Israel’s ability to defend itself from terrorism, UN Watch congratulates Judge Goldstone’s welcome actions. We hope that he will continue to speak out against demonization and double standards, especially as practiced by too many U.N. bodies, including the Human Rights Council that had appointed him.

THE Palestinian Authority’s request for full United Nations membership has put hope for any two-state solution under increasing pressure. The need for reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians has never been greater. So it is important to separate legitimate criticism of Israel from assaults that aim to isolate, demonize and delegitimize it.

One particularly pernicious and enduring canard that is surfacing again is that Israel pursues “apartheid” policies. In Cape Town starting on Saturday, a London-based nongovernmental organization called the Russell Tribunal on Palestine will hold a “hearing” on whether Israel is guilty of the crime of apartheid. It is not a “tribunal.” The “evidence” is going to be one-sided and the members of the “jury” are critics whose harsh views of Israel are well known.

While “apartheid” can have broader meaning, its use is meant to evoke the situation in pre-1994 South Africa. It is an unfair and inaccurate slander against Israel, calculated to retard rather than advance peace negotiations.

I know all too well the cruelty of South Africa’s abhorrent apartheid system, under which human beings characterized as black had no rights to vote, hold political office, use “white” toilets or beaches, marry whites, live in whites-only areas or even be there without a “pass.” Blacks critically injured in car accidents were left to bleed to death if there was no “black” ambulance to rush them to a “black” hospital. “White” hospitals were prohibited from saving their lives. You have to hand it to the Palestinians.

They decided to abandon the peace process and seek international recognition of the “State of Palestine” – a state in a de facto state of war with Israel. And they are pursuing their goal relentlessly.

This week their efforts bore their first fruit with the UN’s Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) vote to accept “Palestine” as a full state member.

It is not a coincidence that the PLO/PA decided to apply for membership for “Palestine” at UNESCO first. Since 1974, UNESCO has been an enthusiastic partner in the Palestinians’ bid to erase Jewish history, heritage and culture in the Land of Israel from the historical record.

In 1974, UNESCO voted to boycott Israel and to “withhold assistance from Israel in the fields of education, science and culture because of Israel’s persistent alteration of historic features in Jerusalem.”

UNESCO’s moves to deny Jewish ties to Jerusalem and the rest of historic Israel have continued unabated ever since. For instance, in 1989, UNESCO condemned “Israel’s occupation of Jerusalem,” claiming it was destroying the city through “acts of interference, destruction and transformation.”

Why all this demand for new Jewish schools in London?

Why all this demand for new Jewish schools? It’s
not like lots of Jewish immigrants have suddenly arrived, in fact quite the
reverse.

I don’t think people recently found religion, got more orthodox after all sales
of Kosher meat haven’t gone up? Jewish schools aren’t cheap, I know that too
well, and every ones having a hard time now. Most Jewish parents were always
happy sending their kids to state schools, leaving the Jewish bit for Sunday mornings.

Short on teachers too, they were never short of teachers before. So what
happened in the last ten years?

A senior Jewish educator has questioned the wisdom of opening more Jewish
primary schools in north London, warning that it could store up
problems for the future.

Susy Stone, head of the Progressive Akiva School in Finchley, said:
“It is clear to me that the rush to create more Jewish schools is a
dangerous strategy for the community. Are we going to open so many
schools that we are not going to be able to maintain the excellent
standards we have in our schools now?”

Predicted cuts in local authority education spending could leave
existing voluntary-aided schools like Akiva facing a squeeze in funding,
she warned.

Although school budgets had largely been cushioned from the impact of cuts so far, “that is not going to continue”.

If more schools opened, “how are we going to resource all these? Are
we taking on commitments for the future that are not sustainable?
Another issue is whether we will be able to fill all these schools. And
is it morally responsible when we have an ageing Jewish community to put
more money into building schools rather than social services?”

Three new Jewish primary schools serving the mainstream sector opened
this autumn in north London and Herts, with two more to follow next
year.

Finchley parents have begun a campaign to start a cross-communal school.

Although Akiva was heavily oversubscribed this year with 127
applications for 60 places, it recently rejected the idea of opening a
third entry form after assessing future demand.

“I can understand the feelings of parents who can’t get their child
into the Jewish school of their choice,” Mrs Stone said. “It’s
heartbreaking to see children who can’t get into my school.”

The economic climate meant that schools needed to co-operate more to
maintain services — such as behavioural support — cut by the local
authority, she argued. But opening too many schools could increase
competition.

Adam Dawson, chair of the new Etz Chaim free school in Mill Hill,
believed that leaders of Jewish schools had a responsibility to “work
more closely together”. But he pointed out that Etz Chaim had opened
only after “a lot of research” indicated local demand.

“It depends on whether you think schools should be local or whether
you bus children about. Are there places in Jewish primary schools in
other parts of London? I am sure there are. But parents have told us
they don’t want their four-year-old having to go on a bus to school for
an hour in the morning.”

Kent State University associate professor of history shouted “death to Israel”

As we noted yesterday, a Kent State University associate professor of history shouted “death to Israel” at an on-campus event co-sponsored by several recognized student groups and CAMERA.

This outburst of hate speech by Professor Julio Pino, which employs violent language, puts student supporters of Israel, and especially Israeli students enrolled at KSU, in the untenable position of feeling unsafe in the classroom.

Moreover, the professor violated several provisions of the university’s Employee Code of Conduct.

Although the director of university media relations responded dismissively to complaints about the incident, KSU President Lester A. Lefton later released a statement criticizing Pino’s actions. “I find his words deplorable, and his behavior deeply troubling,” he said. Pino’s call “for the destruction of the state from which our guest comes (as do some of our students, faculty and community members) is a grotesque failure” to model university values, Lefton added.

This is a good first step. However, Lefton did not mention the professor’s violations of university policies, including those requiring all employees to

• “maintain a professional demeanor”;
• “exhibit a high degree of maturity and self-respect and foster an appreciation for other cultures, one’s own cultural background, as well as the cultural matrix from which Kent state university exists”;
• “demonstrate respect for all campus and external community members”;
• “respect the differences in people, ideas, and opinions”;
• not “threaten, accost, demean” or use “abusive language”;

A KSU document on “Conduct and Discipline” likewise maintains that “Employees should be aware that the university does not tolerate certain acts and behaviors which are unproductive and detrimental to the university,” including immoral conduct, discourteous treatment of the public, and any other failure of good behavior.

It seems to me that if you add many of the crucial elements of WW1, the Ottoman empire and its desire for world conquest for Islam with Turkey as the head, and today, possibly Iran and or Egypt competing for that spot with Turkey, and you add some of the crucial elements of WW2, the Jew hatred, present in both Nazi-leftism and Islam,  both irrational and both highly motivating like religion itself, you get a decent picture of what WW3 looks like. Now the Nazi party of the USA has pitched in with the Occupy Wall Street protest, a distinctly socialist movement which pretends to represent the poor and oppressed but is actually sponsored by unions, the members of which are some of the best paid and have some of the best benefits, not to mention security and entitlements our various nations have to offer. We have seen Islamic groups come out in favor of OCW in NYC to Tehran. Muslims, leftists (wealthy powerful unionists and their useful idiots) and Nazis all united by profound Jew hatred, often under the totem of anti-Israel and as often not, and the math looks pretty clear to me.
