Al Qaeda has issued a new threat to carry out ‘earth-shattering, shocking and terrifying’ attacks on the U.S. and Europe, it emerged today.

In a posting on a jihadist website, the terror group said the ‘coming strikes’ would target the ‘heart of the land of non-belief’ as well as countries aiding France in its crackdown on rebels in Mali.

The unidentified writer claimed the attacks would be ‘group and lone-wolf operations, in addition to the use of booby-trapped vehicles’.

U.S. officials say they are taking the threat seriously.

Muslims bomb theatres to protest Vishwaroopam, Kamal Haasan offers cuts

So, any nation that allows a lot of Islamic immigration has difficult choices to make.

They can drastically reduce basic liberties, most critically things that are true and important but that Muslims living in your cities may find an objectionable representation of them, true or not. Or, we stop allowing Islamic immigration and begin the arduous and dangerous process of actually enforcing our own laws equally for all. Something I would bet most Canadians pretend is the case still.

Kamal Haasan threatens to leave India

Muslims protesting against Kamal Haasan’s film Vishwaroopam hurled petrol bombs at two theatres in Tamil Nadu where the movie was scheduled to be screened on Wednesday following the High Court staying the ban imposed by the State Government. Petrol bombs were hurled at theatres in the Ramanathapuram district, 600 km from Chennai. There are no reports of injuries. Glass panes at the theatres were shattered.

Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan met with representatives of the Muslim community and later told newspersons that he had come to an amicable settlement over the dispute that rose from his using verses from the Quran in Vishwaroopam. “This film is not against Indian Muslims. It is in support of Indian Muslims. There seems to be some confusion over the use of Quranic verses and I am willing to edit out these references,” he said.

An emotional Kamal Haasan had said on Wednesday morning that he would be forced to leave the country if the ban on his film ‘Vishwaroopam’ was not lifted.

The Tamil Nadu Government had imposed a ban on the film after certain Muslim groups protested against it alleging that it portrayed the community in a negative light. The Rs 95 crore thriller was originally scheduled to release in Telugu and Tamil on January 25.

  • Foreign Office says westerners may be targeted in strife-hit Libyan city
  • U.S. ambassador and three other Americans were killed there in September
  • Violent groups currently vie for power in aftermath of Gaddafi’s death

All Britons were told today to immediately leave the Libyan city of Benghazi after a specific intelligence warning of a threat to Western targets.

The Foreign Office has been advising against travel to most of the country since last September, but has now stepped up its alert after receiving intelligence of a ‘specific and imminent threat’ – thought to involve possible kidnap and attacks on Westerners.

The warning comes just days after terrorists linked to the Blood Battalion of one-eyed jihadist and cigarette smuggler Mokhtar Belmokhtar kidnapped dozens of Western gas workers at the BP plant in Algeria – 37 died, including six Britons, after a shoot out with Algerian Special Forces – having crossed from Libya to carry out the attack.

The genuine, ‘Bad Santa’

Abdullah, the son of the blind Sheikh Omar Abdel-Rahman, writes to request the US release his father, who has been serving a life sentence for allegedly planning the 1993 World Trade Centre attack in New York.In the press statement released in Arabic on Saturday, Abdullah says: “The American administration’s arrogance and stubbornness towards one of the Muslim world’s scholars, Sheikh Omar Abdel-Rahman, is putting the lives of its people at risk and costing them a lot.”

Abdullah goes on to justify violent attacks and the kidnapping of Americans by Islamist militants, such as Al-Qaeda, explaining that it is the US administration’s treatment of his father that “has pushed the Muslim youth to anger for the cleric.”

The murder of US ambassador Christopher Stevens to Libya in September during an attack by unknown armed men on the consulate in the city of Benghazi is one example Abdullah cites.

The UK’s first private navy in almost 200 years has been set up by a group of pioneering businessmen, former marines and retired captains and soldiers to defend shipping off the coast of east Africa from the threat of pirates.

They are frustrated at the inability of the Royal Navy, NATO, the European Union Naval Task Force and other navies to guarantee security for shipping in an area of ocean the size of North America.

“They can’t do the job because they haven’t got the budget and deploying a billion-pound warship against six guys [pirates] with $500 of kit is not a very good use of the asset,” Anthony Sharp, chief executive of Typhon, the company behind the venture, told the Times.

The daughter of a prominent New York doctor and her Occupy Wall Street-organizer boyfriend were arrested after police discovered an explosive used for making bombs and a cache of weapons in their upscale New York City apartment, it was claimed.

Gliedman, who is nine months pregnant, is the daughter of a top Brooklyn cancer doctor and was educated at the Dalton School, an exclusive New York prep school attended by the likes of Anderson Cooper and Claire Danes.

Greene went to Harvard University for his undergraduate degree and did graduate work at the Kennedy School of Government there, as well.

The New York Post reports that police found seven grams of HMTD, a high explosive powder that was reportedly used in the 2005 London Underground bombings.

Officers discovered bomb-making instructions, including one document titled ‘The Terrorist Encyclopedia,’ according to the newspaper…
