Florida man thwarted in Christmas lights terror plot, targeted major NYC attractions

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A Pakistani-born man wanted to avenge the deaths of U.S. drone attacks in Afghanistan by blowing up a New York City landmark but lacked the money and materials to carry out the plan, a federal prosecutor said Tuesday.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Karen Gilbert said at a bail hearing that Raees Alam Qazi, 20, researched bomb-making techniques on Internet sites affiliated with al Qaeda, including one using Christmas tree lights, and the FBI recorded phone calls and conversations linking Qazi to a purported “lone wolf” plot.

“He fully intended to do this, and thankfully he didn’t have enough money,” Gilbert said. Referring to casualties in U.S. drone attacks, she added: “He wants to avenge those deaths and kill people.”

This is alleged to be footage from the attack but it looks suspiciously like footage from a bomb in a Moscow airport some years ago. Mind you it is entirely possible that Russians built this airport from the same blueprint and put the camera in the same location.

PESHAWAR, Pakistan — Suicide bombers armed with rockets attacked the military side of a Pakistani airport in the northwestern city of Peshawar Saturday, killing four civilians and wounding more than 30, officials said. Five militants also were killed.

Peshawar is on the edge of Pakistan’s tribal region, the main sanctuary for al-Qaida and Taliban militants in the country. The city has frequently been attacked in the past few years, but Saturday was the first strike against the airport, which is jointly used by the air force and civilian authorities.

The militants fired three rockets at the airport, two of which hit a wall ringing the premises, said Mian Iftikhar Hussain, the information minister in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where Peshawar is the capital. The third landed near a government building outside the wall, Hussain said.

All roads in terrorism investigations seem to lead to Luton.

The five fertiliser bombers convicted on Monday may have been based in Crawley but it was the Bedfordshire town where they made contact with al-Qa’eda.

The July 7 bombers, based in West Yorkshire, met in Luton on the day of the attacks in 2005, abandoning their cars at the station to catch the train south.

Not far north of Luton on the M1 is Toddington service station where, on two occasions 17 months earlier, leaders of the two groups met – watched by MI5.

Both leaders knew the “middle-man”, Mohammed Quayam Khan, or “Q” to his associates, who was allegedly in touch with al-Qa’eda and helped them get to a training camp in Pakistan.

2 Somali Islamists arrested in suspected pipe bomb attack at Bonn train station

At around noon yesterday in Bonn, Germany, employees at the city’s central train station were alerted to the presence of a suspicious-looking piece of luggage on Platform 1 that turned out to contain potentially explosive materials. Within hours, police had arrested two Somali men who had been seen near where the bag was found.

Der Spiegel reports that the first suspect, Omar D., was arrested at an Internet cafe, and the second, Abdirazak B. was arrested near a bridge on the Rhine. According to the ICSR Insight website, Abdirizak was identified from video footage of the attempted bombing at the station.

The suspect bag, which was opened by a robot, was found to contain butane gas, ammonium nitrate, metal pipe, an alarm clock, batteries, and also metal containers filled with some sort of white powder. According to The Local, authorities detonated the apparent pipe bomb with a water cannon. The Bonn train station remained closed until late Monday evening, significantly disrupting travel throughout the area.

An improvised bomb was left at the railway station in Bonn yesterday, allegedly placed there by Salafists. Fortunately, it was never detonated.

Our German correspondent Tiedar sends this brief report based on German-language media sources:

Yesterday’s MSM news reported that a suspicious bag was found at the station in Bonn. Therefore the building was blocked off around 2 pm, train traffic was suspended, and police investigated the bag.

Fireworks Bomb Destroys Police Station

THE HAGUE, 04/12/12 – Police have arrested four youths for a firework bomb attack on a police station.

On Saturday, the police station in Hilvarenbeek in Brabant was heavily damaged by fireworks. No persons were injured, but the damage was enormous. Bits of rubble from the building was scattered over the street and in gardens of houses.

The suspects are youths from Hilvarenbeek aged 17 and 18 jaar. In house raids, the police seized seven fake firearms and fireworks.

A police official, who declined to be named, said the attack was most likely carried out by a far-Left group. “It was a powerful blast that caused a lot of damage,” he said. “It looks like [domestic] terrorism.”

The device packed with dynamite was placed outside the party’s local offices in Aspropyrgos, an industrial suburb west of Athens.

The number of terrorist attacks each year has more than quadrupled in the decade since 9/11, according to a study launched today.

The Global Terrorist Index showed that in 2002 there were 982 separate attacks. By 2011 that had risen to 4,564.

Researchers suggest the U.S. military interventions pursued as part of the West’s anti-al Qaeda ‘war on terror’ may have made terrorism worse.

It also said it was impossible to prove whether the policy made the U.S homeland safer.

Despite the increase in attacks in the past ten years, the number of deaths in terrorists attacks has fallen.

It peaked in 2007 at the height of the Iraq war when 10,009 people died. That figure had fallen to 7,473 last year.

Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India and Yemen have been the most affected by terrorism in the past ten years.

Casa Grande Police

Casa Grande police investigate an explosion Friday morning at the Social Security Administration office at 501 N. Marshall St. in downtown Casa Grande. The back door and wall were charred and debris was thrown throughout the back parking lot, damaging a car parked nearby. No one was hurt in the explosion and federal authorities are conducting an investigation.

An explosive device was detonated Friday morning by the back door of the U.S. Social Security Administration office, shaking downtown Casa Grande, but no one was injured.

Federal agents, including those of the FBI, rushed to the scene. The FBI would not confirm whether anyone was in custody, but the Casa Grande Dispatch learned that a Coolidge resident, Abdullatif A. Aldosary, 47, was being questioned. The investigation involved agents’ going to his home at 4732 W. Lemon Ave., on the west side of Coolidge.

Frankly, I am not sure why I am posting this really. It is related to the counter-jihad in the minds of many and certainly to the agenda driven media determined to demonize the classical liberals as far right extremists. To them, the psycho Breivik was an absolute god-send.

Most of us who oppose islam oppose it because of Islamic use of terrorism to achive an illiberal political goal. Specifically a fascist and/or theocratic-totalitarian one. This makes Anders much more Muslim that it does a counter-jihadi.

In any case, here is that video.
