Well, I guess its Israel day here on Vlad. Fair enough.

Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, 1952. But Jews were dispossessed, too.Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, 1952. But Jews were dispossessed, too.

“Could the Arab Spring turn into a Palestinian summer?” asks the BBC. A dozen Palestinians were killed yesterday on Israeli’s border on the anniversary of the Nakba, the Palestinian “catastrophe” of 1948 when 725,000 Palestinians were forced out of their homeland.

Almost everyone in Europe knows about the Nakba, which followed the 1948 Arab-Israeli war; although most refugees fled on the advice of invading Arab armies, they have never been allowed back, and this is a running sore. Yet very few people know that 800,000 Jews were in turn forced out of Arab lands during this and subsequent years, on top of another 200,000 Jews from other Muslim countries such as Iran. STRATFOR: Rafah border crossing with Gaza will be permanently opened

May 25, 2011 STRATFOR.COM
Egypt’s official news agency says the Rafah border crossing with Gaza will be permanently opened for Palestinians May 28, AP reported May 25. MENA news agency said that Egypt’s new military leaders set the date for the opening of the crossing as part of efforts “to end the status of the Palestinian division and achieve national reconciliation.”

Amir Khadir has a lot to hide.

From No Dogs or Anglophones

(h/t Miss Trixie with thanks)

Amir Khadir is the only member of the Quebec Parliament representing the separatist Quebec Solidaire political party, which is distinguished from the Parti Quebecois by being much more left wing, extreme and militant.

The flamboyant Khadir got himself elected in just about the only riding he could, Montreal’s Mercier riding which is arguably the most pro-sovereignist and militant riding in Quebec.

Since then, he has been working quite successfully to raise his profile and popularity by purporting to stand up to the ‘big guys’ and opposing just about anything the Quebec, Canadian or American government does or says.
Ever since he symbolically threw a shoe at a photo of President George Bush, at a rally in front of the U.S. consulate in Montreal, his popularity has skyrocketed. LINK

Recently he pulled off another coup by going to Toronto and posting part of the bail for Jaggi Singh, Canada’s most notorious anarchist, who was arrested at the G20 conference.

It was a masterful coup, based on perceptions that Quebeckers were targeted at the G20 protests by Toronto police because they were French. This narrative has been successfully sold as fact by Quebec militants and anarchists seeking to engender popular support.

Mr Khadir put forward the position that he provided Mr. Singh’s bail, not because he shares his ideals, but in order to defend democracy and the right to dissent. According to Khadir, it was also a gesture of solidarity with those Quebeckers who were targeted by Toronto police, another notion that went down well with the receptive Quebec audience.

But here’s the part Mr. Khadir left out..

It seems that  Mr. Singh and Amir Khadir are actually friends, a fact that Khadir wasn’t keen to emphasize.  In an interview after his release, Singh mentioned that he considered Kadir a friend and that he had previously gone to demonstrations with Mr. Khadir’s daughter.   LINK

By the way it isn’t the first time that Khadir posted bail for someone of  dubious distinction.  It is alleged that Khadir and his wife put up bail for Adil Charkaoui, accused by CSIS of being an islamist sleeper agent. Link

MEMO re-publishes anti-Semite, and Amnesty STILL has no problem hosting the event

Amnesty International seems to have solidly joined the list of formerly reasonable organizations that enhanced freedom and individual rights around the world and are now simply Marxist and Islamic tools for the new antisemitism and totalitarianism.

memo-khalid-123

Shortly after I exposed Middle East Monitor Online (MEMO) columnist Khalid Amaryeh for calling someone a “kike”, and asked whether this disqualified the group from being hosted at Amnesty International’s Human Rights Action Centre – at an event which is set to take place tonight – MEMO issued the following clarification on its website:

MEMO wishes to make it absolutely clear that the organisation and its staff are against racism in any and all of its forms, wherever and whenever it occurs; we will not tolerate racism in any articles, reports or comment pieces published by MEMO.

Which is good of them. Except that, less than 48 hours later, Amaryeh was back on MEMO’s website with another comment piece, this one on the need for renewed pan-Arabism, accompanied by a smart new photo of him tricked out like his hero, King Faisal.

For a man who otherwise whiles away the hours hurling racial slurs on the Internet, Amaryeh makes the editorial rounds impressively. Shortly after the “kike” episode, he published this ode to Israel’s non-existence on the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades website (that would be the “armed wing” of Hamas).

Question: how is a magazine against “racism in any and all of its forms” still publishing a man such as this? And doesn’t this pose a problem for Amnesty, which explains quite clearly on its website: “Please note that our facilities are only available to non-commercial organisations working on human rights or social justice issues”?

One of tonight’s speakers is Adel Bari Atwan, who says he’ll “dance in Trafalgar Square” when Iranian missiles rain down on Israel.

Al-Qaeda Rising in Libya?

From Heritage Blog H/T Richard

The Arab Spring may be becoming a long hot summer.

In the President’s major speech on the Middle East yesterday, it seemed pretty clear that he has moved on from Libya and turned his attention back to the Arab–Israeli peace process. Attention deficit disorder, however, may not be the right answer.

There is a disturbing news report that two men arrested in Tunisia were “suspected of being members of al-Qaeda.” They were picked up near the Libyan border “carrying an explosives belt and several bombs, a security source told Reuters.… The men were carrying Afghan identity papers and were of Libyan and Algerian origin, the source said, adding that they were also connected to two men arrested in Tunisia last week.…

Another large protest against a shoe store in Montreal that has a brand of Israeli shoes.

I simply have not had a chance to get this translated yet, but I will post portions of the email I got about this below which gives a pretty good idea. Should any French speakers out there care to do it, please feel free to translate this if you feel it is worth it and send it to me with approximate times for what is being said. email me at
vl**@***********og.com for details on how to do this.

From ‘The Bad Faun’ who sent me this:

Note the increasingly hysterical and extreme language of pro-Palestinians: the woman shouting says, among an avalanche of classic anti-Semitic invective, that “Israel is worse than Auschwitz and a giant extermination camp for Palestinians.” Those gathered were there at the instigation of Amir Khadir who just earlier that same day called Israeli Jews “racist terrorists who invented ethnic cleansing” and asked them to make Montreal free of Israeli products. Montreal is pretty scary but a month ago in Ottawa I was asked at my grocery store not to buy “apartheid hummus”, i.e. hummus made in Israel, by some smelly hobo. I wasn’t there to buy hummus but I told him to fuck off and bought 2 packages.

For more information please click here. (It will need to be translated from French)

Runner7500 was kind enough to send in this translation:

Here is a quick translation of the speech from that young woman in the street.

Today, the Palestinian People are rising.
Today, the Palestinian People are rising.
Today, the Palestinian People says it has enough to live fighting.
Millions of people live in a prison with no roof. They have had enough.
Today, the Palestinian People says no to apartheid.
The Palestinian People says apartheid is a cancer for all of humanity.
We should put this cancer, this apartheid in quarantine.
We should dis-invest against the Israeli State.
We should sanction apartheid of Israel.
Sanctions on Israel.

Canada should demand the US go back to it’s 1812 borders.

A little known fact. The first war the US ‘lost’ was not Vietnam. Canada kicked the crap out of the US in 1812, taking territory right up to and including Washington D.C. where ‘we’ torched the White House itself, necessitating a white wash, and hence its new name, “The White House”. Of course the US re-established rational and defensible borders with Canada along the St. Laurence. However after Obama’s speech, I think perhaps Canadians should lobby the Harper Government to demand that the US go back to it’s 1812 borders and let Canada have control over Washington again. Tundra Tabloids makes a similar point about Mexico. How about it Obama? Since it is all just a matter of cartography right?

The White House might make a nice residence for the leader of the opposition after all.

Phyllis Chesler: Facebook Groups Call for Mass Invasion of Israel on Friday

My nightmares—what I knew could happen—is apparently happening.

The Third Palestinian Intifada on Facebook seems to have at least twenty different groups or pages, each with hundreds or thousands of fans. One group has 365,000 fans. According to Yedioth Ahronoth (YNet), these sites are now urging all Arabs to “rush the Israeli borders” after Friday prayers on May 20.

Please click through to Phyllis Chesler’s article to read the rest of it.

May as well read it there before you hear about a distorted version of this false flag op in the news tomorrow.

Thousands gather at Israeli embassy in Cairo. Hundreds attempt to storm it.

From Al Jazeera:

At least 120 people were injured after Egyptian security forces fired tear gas and rubber coated steel bullets at pro-Palestinian protesters who were trying to storm the Israeli embassy in Cairo.

Thousands of protesters had massed outside of the embassy in the capital on Sunday to commemorate the 63rd anniversary of the “Nakba” or “catastrophe” – the day Israel declared its independence and hundreds of thousands of Palestinians fled or were expelled from their homes.

Witnesses said a group of demonstrators later tried to storm the entrance of the embassy. Police used rubber coated steel bullets and tear gas to disperse the crowd. At least 20 people were arrested.

Al Jazeera’s Rob Gilles, who was at the scene, said that some protesters responded by burning tires in the middle of the road and throwing stones.

“The security forces have made a charge outside the embassy to clear the street in front of it and most of the protesters are being forced back,” he said.

‘Determined protesters’

“They’ve sealed off the main area into it but there is still a determined presence here, they are determined not to move, spurred on by the images they’ve seen of the Nakba protests in other parts of the Middle East.

“We’ve seen a few people laid out on the floor mainly suffering from gas inhalation more than anything else.”

Activists had earlier called for marches to start on Sunday to reach the Rafah border crossing between Israel and Egypt.

The incident followed the visit to Egypt by a senior Israeli defence ministry official – the first trip by a top Israeli official since a popular uprising toppled former president Hosni Mubarak in February.

Amos Gilad was to hold talks with several Egyptian officials “to discuss the latest developments in the region, in light of the Palestinian reconciliation agreement”, MENA, Egypt’s state news agency reported on Sunday.

Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal ended a four-year feud at a reconciliation ceremony in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, earlier this month, which Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu termed “a tremendous blow to peace”.

The long-awaited accord, inked by the two rivals among 13 factions, aims to put a stop to the animosity which has split the Palestinian territories into opposing camps since 2007.

The agreement envisages Hamas and Fatah working to put together an interim government of candidates who are unaffiliated with either faction, who would govern until presidential and legislative elections within a year.

Had There Been No War, There Would Be No Nakba.

From Myths and Facts.org

May 15, 2011  |  Eli E. Hertz

Starting a civil war in 1947 after the Arabs rejected the United Nations Partition Plan, Palestinian Arabs became belligerents in the conflict. Rather than accept a Jewish state after five-and-a-half months of warfare, Palestinian Arabs called upon their brethren from seven surrounding countries to invade and crush the nascent Jewish state.

The Arab League’s April 10, 1948 decision to invade on May 14 to “save Palestine,”as the British Mandate ended, marked a watershed event, for it changed the rules of the conflict. Accordingly, Israel bears no moral responsibility for deliberately banishing Palestinian Arabs in order to “consolidate defense arrangements” in strategic areas, as the Jewish people organized to battle seven well-equipped and well-trained aggressor armies. With the pending invasion following Israel’s declaration of independence, it is no exaggeration to say the new Jewish state’s very existence hung in the balance.

The new Jewish state found it imperative to eliminate all potential pockets of Arab resistance in key areas if it was to survive. Dislodging all Arab inhabitants from sensitive areas in proximity to Jewish settlements, establishing territorial continuity between blocs under Jewish control, and ensuring control of key transportation arteries were a military necessity. As May 14 approached, Israel could not afford to risk a Fifth Column at its rear to add to all other aspects of its militarily inferior situation. The cost of defeat was hammered home by a stream of dire warnings from Arab capitals, with perhaps the most chilling for Israel coming from Jamal Al-Husayni as vice-chairman of the Arab Higher Committee [AHC], who publicly declared:

“The Arabs have taken into their own hands, the Final Solution of the Jewish problem. The problem will be solved only in blood and fire. The Jews will be driven out.” Continue Reading →
