Michael Coren and Alain Wagner on the beating of police in France for enforcing French law

from Gates of Vienna:

Alain Wagner is the Chairman of the International Civil Liberties Alliance, and was one of the moderators and speakers at the recent Brussels Conference.

He appeared tonight on Michael Coren’s SUN TV program to talk about the incident in Marseille last Friday (see this Telegraph article) in which a group of Muslims brawled with police over the latter’s attempt to enforce the no-burka law. The dénouement of the whole sordid affair came when political pressure forced the Marseille police to release the brawlers in order to appease Muslim sentiment during Ramadan.

Muslim Mob Rule in Marseilles: Police Attacked While Doing Burka Check, Attackers Released Without Charge

There’s that word, ‘restive’ again…

Islam Vs. Europe

Posted by Cheradenine Zakalwe

There have been a few attacks on police in France and Belgium while they were conducting burka checks. But this is the first time the state has taken the side of the attackers. With a 40% Muslim demographic in Marseilles and 93% of Muslims voting Socialist, the police can expect a lot more betrayal from Socialist politicians, including the new Hollande government.

In the restive port city of Marseille, police fear that the release of four people arrested for allegedly attacking officers during an ID check on a woman wearing an Islamic veil will undermine their fight against violent crime in the city.

By FRANCE 24 (text)

Marseille police say three of its officers were injured in the early hours of July 25 when a mob of some 50 people tried to prevent them from checking the identity of a woman who was wearing a full Islamic veil.

Under a controversial law passed in 2010, wearing a full veil or covering one’s face in a public place is illegal in France and offenders must submit to ID checks.

According to the police, the woman was stopped just after midnight near a city mosque and refused to cooperate with the officers.

A man accompanying her as well as a large group of bystanders came to her aid and three officers were “lightly injured” in a scuffle.

After police reinforcements arrived, four people, including the 18-year-old woman named only as “Louise-Marie”, were arrested for allegedly assaulting the officers – but were promptly released with a warning on the orders of the city prosecutor.

According to an AFP source, the decision was “a gesture of appeasement during the holy [Islamic] month of Ramadan.”

(ANSAMed) – PARIS, JULY 25 – France has 2,200 active mosques totaling 300,000 square meters, but given that each worshiper needs at least one square meter of space, that number should double in order to adequately serve all the faithful, according to the French Council of the Muslim Faith, which represents the French Muslims before the national government.

Young woman beaten for being a ‘bad Muslim’

The Local France:

Police in the south of France have launched an investigation after a woman claimed she was beaten up by seven men in Viviez for attending a party during Ramadan.

The young woman, originally from Morocco, was driving home from the party on Friday night when two other cars trapped hers, newspaper Midi Libre reports.

The men are reported to have beaten her up before leaving without saying anything.

After they had left, the woman drove home. Shortly afterwards, she headed towards the local police station to report the attack.

On her way to the station, the seven men tracked her down again and assaulted her a second a time.

According to the woman, the men issued threats and said: “You are a bad Muslim”, and “you bring shame to Islam because you went to a party on a day of Ramadan.”

Group of Muslim women try and lay flowers at Merah, the ‘Toulouse killer’ home

This news report clearly attempts to sanitize this event in a way they never would if, for example, a group of Christian women trying to lay a wreath at the home of someone who shot an abortion doctor, or Timothy McVeigh for example. Even though both cases are not even real equivalents for what Mohamed Merah did. But even if they were, imagine how the news would treat that in stark contrast with this. I recognize that this clip is from Jewish News. But it is still highly politically corrected. Had there been an attempt to commemorate any other mass murderer, they would not have treated it so ‘fairly’.

Al Qaeda planning kidnappings and killings at Jewish targets in London.

Your Jewish News:

Al Qaeda continues to plot horrific terror attacks against Western interests and especially Jewish targets.

The cache of intelligence found with the body of the African leader of Al Qaeda, and inside his Toyota truck riddled with bullets when he tried to bomb a checkpoint of the Somali government, offers a chilling look at the global aspirations of Al Shabab, an offshoot of Al Qaeda, in Somalia.

Documents obtained by the news media, show details of plots of kidnapping and attacks on the prestigious Eton College, the Jewish neighborhoods, and the elegant Ritz and Dorchester hotels in London.

They were discovered last year when a high Al Qaeda leader Fazul Abdullah Mohammed, 38, was shot dead by Somali forces.

Fazul was indicted in the United States for the 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Tanzania and Kenya that killed 224. He was a close ally of Osama bin Laden and considered the primary liaison between senior leaders of Al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan and the Shabab, the terrorist group that has grown out of decades of chaos in Somalia.

France vows gun crackdown after nightclub shootings

France 24:

France vows gun crackdown after nightclub shootings

The subject of gun crime is back on the agenda in France after two separate shootings outside nightclubs within a matter of days. The government has vowed to take action while fearful nightclub owners are demanding police support.

By Ben MCPARTLAND (text)
A second nightclub shooting on consecutive weekends in France forced authorities on Monday to promise swift action against the growing issue of gun crime.

Ten people were injured in the early hours of Sunday morning when a man armed with a hunting rifle burst into the Vamos nightclub in the northern town of Bertry and opened fire, sending panicked revellers and staff running for cover.

The attack came just a week after a cloak-room attendant and a party-goer were killed at Theatro nightclub in the northern city of Lille when a gunman shot indiscriminately at terrified staff and patrons, with what was believed to be a Kalashnikov. Five other people were injured.

The shootings have sparked concern among the government, France’s poorer communities, where guns are seemingly more and more commonplace, and those who work in the night-club industry.

Gun crime a ‘priority’

Mustafa Belaïdi, whose 27-year-old son Hamza was killed in the Theatro club shooting, led the calls for tougher action.“We must dismantle the gun networks and severely punish those who carry military weapons,” he said.

Valls worries about (newborn antisemitism) in our suburbs

The Parisian:

Translation by Bear

Manuel Valls, minister of the interior has invited Muslims to construct an Islam-of-France independent of all foreign tutelage calling to an end of “divisions” and to put in place “a serene dialogue” between the leaders of the Muslim cult and public powers.

“There are in our neighborhoods, some youths and some not so young, that in the name of an identity that would feel threatened decide in the most imbecile manner, the most dangerous for our values to attack our Jews. They consider the Jew to be enemy”

He is a guest this Sunday of Radio J, the minister of the interior, Manual Valls, has worried about “a new antisemitism” for many years.

The minister analyzes: “we do not hesitate today to insult, to hit a citizen because he is a Jew in the name of his cultural identity.” The minister recommends prudence before blaming what he describes as an outbreak of intolerable antisemitism. “But without a doubt, unfortunately, in weak spirits who preach this hatred, what has happened may have given license to hateful words.”

The minister is questioned by Radio J while the two presumed assaulters of a teenager of Jewish persuasion in a train were being questioned for violence this Saturday. […]

The victim, a 17 year old, is schooled at the School Ozar Hatorah De Toulouse where Mohamed Mera had killed  3 kids and a Jewish father in March.

Manuelle Valls had shared Thursday his most severe condemnation after that violent assault. The question of the antisemetic character of the aggression remains unanswered.

The question to know of the report, is if the notable reason for youth attacks claims to Islam, Manuel Valls has answered: “I fear it”

But Valls is also called to “be careful within all terms – not to stigmatize other French. To not throw disgrace on co-citzens, notably of Muslim persuasion.”

A French Jewish teenager, who attends the Toulouse school where Islamist gunman Mohamed Merah shot dead three children in March, has suffered a violent anti-Semitic attack on a train, French media reports said on Thursday.

The attack on Wednesday took place on a train travelling between Toulouse, which is in the south-west, and the city of Lyon in the south-east, Le Figaro newspaper reported, quoting an interior ministry statement.

“A teenager aged 17 wearing a distinctive religious symbol, who attends Ozar Hatorah school in Toulouse, was taken to task and insulted by two individuals,” the ministry was quoted as saying.

He was then attacked near the toilets “by the same two individuals, who beat him up,” the statement said, adding that the attack ended when a fellow passenger and train conductors intervened.

French minister wants prostitution to ‘disappear’

There is something very wrong about this story. The policy seems far more, well islamic than socialist. Isn’t Najat an Iranian name?

I have a hard time understanding how any modern socialist party could justify telling women that they are not allowed to have sex with whomever they want for whatever reason they want. Even under Canada’s Conservative government brothels have become legal. This in no way makes human sex trafficking or slavery legal any more than making Aspirin legal for heart patients allows the homeless to use heroin.

This new government in France needs watching closely.

France 24:

French minister wants prostitution to 'disappear'

France’s new Women’s Rights Minister Najat Vallaud-Belkacem’s stated mission is to start the eradication of prostitution in France by pushing tough legislation against their clients. Some sex workers and police officers see things differently.

By Tony Todd (text)

French prostitutes’ organisations on Sunday heaped scorn on the new minister for women’s rights after she said she wanted to eradicate the sex trade in France.

In an interview with the weekly Journal de Dimanche, 34-year-old minister Najat Vallaud-Belkacem (pictured) said: “My objective, like that of the [newly-elected] Socialist Party, is to see prostitution disappear.”

In December 2011, a cross-party initiative in the French lower house of parliament came up with a proposed law that would criminalise paying for sex.

Getting the proposal onto the statute books would be her immediate priority – but for Vallaud-Belkacem, who says she has the support of Interior Minister Manuel Valls, prosecuting clients is just the first step.

“This abolitionist stance is borne of the fact that there are insufficient means at our disposal … to protect the vast majority of prostitutes, who are victims of violence from organised crime networks and from their pimps,” she said.

“The question is not whether we want to abolish prostitution – the answer is yes – but rather how we can have the means to do so.”

According to Guy Goffroy, one of the authors of the proposed bill and a member of the former ruling conservative UMP party, 90 percent of prostitutes working in France are victims of international traffickers.

‘Zero legitimacy’

But sex workers contacted by FRANCE 24 said the measure, if passed, would penalise what they insist is a perfectly legitimate way of making a living and endanger the already precarious lives of prostitutes.

College kid killed at Rennes: Preliminary proceedings demanded for manslaughter

The Rennes public prosecutor has demanded the opening of preliminary proceedings for manslaughter against the 16-year old youngster detained after the altercation which opposed him on friday, at a city college, to a 13-year old student who died of it. Likewise, custody has been demanded for the adolescent.

The autopsy of the victim ‘has permitted to confirm that his death resulted clearly of a strangulation’, indicated the Rennes public prosecutor, Thierry Pocquet du Haut-Jussé.

According to a witness, the origin of the friday altercation was ‘a lavatory door opened to abruptly’. The alleged perpetrator ‘got excited’, ‘he punched’ the victim who ‘responded’. ‘There were two or three punches exchanged’, and ‘it ended in a strangling’, according to this witness who specifies that the victim ‘fell, hit his head against a pole of stone’.

During a press conference yesterday late afternoon, the Rennes prosecutor reported the verified facts: First an altercation which escalates without real reason, without doubt because of earlier glances exchanged or statements badly accepted’, he said. Then ‘the two youngsters, who were in the lavatories at the begininng of the altercation, and initially without witnesses, go out into the court, at this moment exchanging punches. And the next thing is the the indicted minor takes the victim’s gorge and presses real hard, and without any doubt very short’, explained the magistrate.

Then, ‘an onlooker made the brawl end’, and ‘the young victim fell to the ground’, continued Thierry Pocquet du Haut-Jussé, emphasising that ‘all the witnesses heard insist on the short duration of the scene’.
