Canadian suspected of role in Egyptian terror attack

OTTAWA — A Canadian student has been arrested by Egyptian authorities for allegedly being involved in a terror attack in the Sinai peninsula, according to an Israeli newspaper.The Times of Israel reported that David Edward was carrying Egyptian identification that did not belong to him at the time of his arrest Wednesday. Egyptian authorities alleged Edward was photographing armoured personnel vehicles.

Sixteen Egyptian guards were killed in the terror attack and Egyptian aircraft retaliated by hitting targets along its border with Israel and Gaza.

Foreign Affairs would not confirm Edward’s arrest, but issued a generic statement.

“Canadian officials in Cairo are in contact with local authorities to gather additional information regarding reports that a Canadian citizen has been detained in Egypt,” a spokesman wrote in an e-mail. “Consular assistance is available.”

The following is our English translation of a Persian article from ‘Radio Farda’, an Iranian news agency about a report of Abolfazl Eslami,  an ex-diplomat from Iran working at the embassy in Japan who reveals that Iran uses embassies to recruit and interfere in Iranian and Muslim lives for their own benefit. In his report, Abolfazl Eslami indicates that he will release a more detailed report in the coming days.

Also this report does not seem to have any concrete evidence or better documentation to back up the allegations. The only fact that gives the report any credence is that the writer himself was a former Iranian diplomat.

For the past two years the author of the article had observed how the Iranians living in Canada are being utilized by the (Iranian) Intelligent Services, Zahra Kazemi’s killing at Evin prison, the sabotaging of the case, the direct involvement of the prosecutor, Judge Mortazavi in closing of the case and utilizing Iranians living in Canada in regards to this case.

Abolfazl Eslami (Ex- Diplomat of Iran), in a two part report describes how the Iranians residing in Canada are being utilized for the advantage of the IRI regime.

Part one:

In his recent statement, the Cultural Attaché of the Islamic republic of Iran in Canada  the use of Iranians residing in Canada for the interest of the regime was mentioned  which resulted in a very strong criticism by the Canadian government; to the extent that the closing of the Embassy was brought up and the bank accounts of some Iranian-Canadians were closed.

Although Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, and Sheikh Hassani’s Charge d’Affaires hastily denied utilizing the Iranians residing in Canada for the regime’s interests, but the truth is that the Islamic Republic has been present in Canada and other countries for years, and has veraciously perused using the Iranians abroad for its own gain but because of the sensitivity of government agencies the politics of this have been kept confidential and secret thus so far no documents have been leaked.

Now that Hamid Mohammadi, the Cultural Attaché, after years let the curtain drop and unveiled one of the sealed secrets of the regime with his remarks, and because of public opinion the government of Canada criticized the Islamic Republic, it is necessary to do a report on the details and methods of how Iranians and Muslim immigrants are being used so that those Iranians and Muslim immigrants who have no knowledge of the regime’s intentions and motives are educated about every which way that they can be taken advantage of and are warned.

Minnesota Sheriff Reports to Congress on Growing Somalia Gang Threat in Hennepin County

(CNSNews.com) – The sheriff of Hennepin County, Minn., told the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security on Wednesday about the threat of Somali gangs in his jurisdiction.

“I have been asked to testify today about the specific emergence of Somali gang-related issues we are having in my county,” Rich Stanek said in his prepared testimony.

Stanek represented the National Sheriffs’ Association at the hearing on “America’s Evolving Gang Threat.” He also serves on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s inter-agency Threat Assessment and Coordination Group and is president of the Major County Sheriffs’ Association.

Stanek said Minnesota is a “designated U.S. Refugee Resettlement Area,” with a Somali population ranging from 80,000 to 125,000 in the state. As a result, Stanek said, while the African population in the U.S. as a whole is about four percent, 18 percent of the Minnesota population is African because of the large Somali presence.

On December 14, 1999, Ahmed Ressam, an Al-Qaeda trained Algerian Jihadi and resident of Montreal, was arrested in Port Angeles, Washington after he drove off a ferry from Canada with a trunk load of explosives. Thus began the unraveling of the Millennium plot, an attempt by al Qaeda using sleeper cells in the US and Canada, to conduct an attack on the Los Angeles International Airport.

Canada has witnessed its own spectacular Islamist attack plots. On June 2, 2006, counter-terrorism raids in Metro Toronto and elsewhere in Ontario netted 18 suspected Al Qaeda terrorist cell (“Toronto 18”) operatives at several para-military training camps. In Toronto, the suspects were planning to detonate truck bombs, to open fire in a crowded area, and attack the Canadian Broadcasting Centre and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) regional headquarters. In Ottawa, Canada’s Parliament was to be invaded and the Prime Minister of Canada, beheaded. A trial subsequently disclosed significant evidence that resulted in guilty pleas and convictions that were later upheld by an Ontario appeals court in 2011. In April 2004, a Canadian citizen of Lebanese Muslim background firebombed the library of the United Talmud Torahs Jewish School in Montreal, Quebec. This was a clearly Islamist antisemitic attack that sent a fearful message to Canada’s 380,000 Jews.

Bathroom ban: Taxi drivers raise stink at Toronto island airport

A messy dispute about untidy washrooms has left some taxi drivers in the city feeling insulted and isolated.

And that could spell trouble for passengers.

The Toronto Port Authority has banned cabbies from the passenger building at the foot of Bathurst St., across the water from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. As a result, drivers feel they are being segregated from the public, says the president of iTaxiworkers Association.

“I have heard of a few drivers (who say) they’re not going back to the airport if they treat us like this,” said Sajid Mughal, who represents about 750 cabbies in the city.

The Toronto Port Authority alleges taxi drivers are responsible for making a mess in the passenger building’s washrooms, while drivers say there’s no proof they’re the culprits.

About 50 cabbies are lined up at any given time to pick up passengers from the downtown airport.

Because they can’t go inside the passenger building, drivers must use two portable washrooms set up outside.

“It’s embarrassing,” taxi driver Asafo Addai said Monday.

“This perception that we are not worthy of going to the washroom is not right, especially in the 21st century.”

On July 16, drivers received a memo from Toronto Port Authority ground services manager Antonella Tarantino as a “final warning” about messy washrooms.

While the western world, including the various YMCA‘s rush to accommodate the most primitive of Islamic demands when it comes to who may or may not go swimming (What is it with Mustards and swimming pools anyway?) Rules are a bit different for other ethnic minorities. It will be interesting to see if there is a guilty verdict or any meaningful consequence to this man’s actions.

If such a story were the other way around, or involved any other minority, every state-run news agency in America would be squawking in indignation. But as it involves Muslims being Muslims, America isn’t likely to hear much of anything about it.

The event happened 2 years ago, but is only now going to trial.

Center Report Reveals Radical Islamist Views and Agenda of Senior State Department Official Huma Abedin’s Mother

WASHINGTON, D.C.:  A book published and translated by the mother of Obama administration State Department Deputy Chief of Staff Huma Abedin provides fresh evidence that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s closest aide has deeply problematic foreign associations that could, in violation of departmental guidelines, “create… a heightened risk of foreign exploitation, inducement, manipulation, pressure, or coercion.”

In light of the escalating controversy over the role being played in U.S. security policy-making by Ms. Abedin and others with personal and/or professional ties to the Muslim Brotherhood (see Part 8 of the Center for Security Policy’s online curriculum atMuslimBrotherhoodinAmerica.com), the revelations contained in a new Center report— Ties That Bind? The Views and Agenda of Huma Abedin’s Islamist Mother— could not be more timely, or important.

The Center’s report excerpts and analyzes relevant passages from a book published and translated by Saleha S. Mahmood Abedin called Women in Islam: A Discourse in Rights and Obligations by Fatima Umar Naseef. Naseef is a past head of the “women’s section” and professor of shariah at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, where Dr. Abedin is also on the faculty.  The book was published in 1999, the same year Dr. Abedin founded Dar Al Hekma, a university for women also in Jeddah, that Secretary Clinton visited and spoke admiringly of with Huma Abedin in February 2010.  [See Remarks on that occasion by Mrs. Clinton, including her comment that Huma holds a “very sensitive and important position” in her department, and those by her hosts.]

Ottawa Police seek suspect in Fisher shooting

Ottawa Police are looking for 26-year-old Hussein Mohammad in connection with a shooting on Fisher Avenue.

A bullet hole was found in a car on Wednesday, and two shell casings were seen nearby.

Mohammad is wanted on four counts of attempted murder.

He is a Middle Eastern man, 5’6″, 140 lbs. with medium length dark brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with further information about the suspect or the shooting is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5050.
