Casa Grande police investigate an explosion Friday morning at the Social Security Administration office at 501 N. Marshall St. in downtown Casa Grande. The back door and wall were charred and debris was thrown throughout the back parking lot, damaging a car parked nearby. No one was hurt in the explosion and federal authorities are conducting an investigation.

An explosive device was detonated Friday morning by the back door of the U.S. Social Security Administration office, shaking downtown Casa Grande, but no one was injured.

Federal agents, including those of the FBI, rushed to the scene. The FBI would not confirm whether anyone was in custody, but the Casa Grande Dispatch learned that a Coolidge resident, Abdullatif A. Aldosary, 47, was being questioned. The investigation involved agents’ going to his home at 4732 W. Lemon Ave., on the west side of Coolidge.

Judge: Christian evangelists can sue Muslims

A federal judge has ruled that Christian evangelists who were arrested at a Dearborn, Mich., festival sponsored by the Arab Chamber of Commerce can sue the business organization.

“The court finds that plaintiffs do properly allege a civil conspiracy among defendants, including the AACC, to deprive plaintiffs of their constitutional rights sufficient to survive a motion to dismiss,” the court’s ruling said.

It came in a case brought by the American Freedom Law Center on behalf of the Christians. David Yerushalmi, AFLC co-founder and senior counsel, said: “The detailed allegations of our 100-page civil rights complaint sets out a pattern of misconduct that had the purpose and effect of depriving our clients of their fundamental constitutional rights.”

The judge, Stephen J. Murphy III, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, granted the AFLC’s request to amend its complaint on behalf of the missionaries “unlawfully arrested for preaching the Gospel to Muslims at the 2010 Arab International Festival.”

Halal meals at the kindergarden

Responding to the nutritional needs of certain cultures, CPEs [Centre de la petite enfance] offer halal meals to all children of which they are responsible.

In response to religious prohibitions of certain communities, among which the moslems, centres de la petite enfance [small-children centres] serve halal or vegetarian meals to all children.

The presence of numerous immigrants in certain quarters of Montreal has incited kindergarden services to take this option.

At the pavillon Henri-Bourassa of the CPE Ste-Gertrude, north Montreal, one in two children belongs to the moslem faith. The administrative council has adopted directives with regard to nutrition.

‘Unless there is a religious prohibition, the CPE can offer to all children halal or kosher food’, we can read in the internal guideline document, adopted last spring.

According to the cases, all children eat a halal meal, explains Jean-Claude Lavergne, CPE directeur general [there’s also a directrice, further down], reminding that catholics, for their part, do not have any prohibitions. They can eat halal as well as kosher meals.

The basic idea behind this directive is integration, explains M Lavergne. ‘We cannot put any community member into a ghetto. We cannot invite them to make themselves distinct kindergardens. We want to integrate them, we want to put them into contact, we want to walk with all of our children, and in order to achieve this, we need to respect the limitations imposed by the exercise of a religion.’ Continue Reading →

Police tell Toronto Madrassa they have been naughty. Consider writing a whiney letter.

I am against hate crimes laws so of course I wouldn’t want a hate crimes charge. But I am far more against selective enforcement of thought crimes than the hate crimes laws themselves.

Police have met with those responsible for a Toronto Islamic school and advised them to make their teaching materials more reflective of Canadian values, an officer said on Friday.

The unusual meeting marked the end of a six-month investigation by the York Regional Police hate crimes unit that did not result in criminal charges but nonetheless identified concerns about the East End Madrassah.

A police report outlining the results of the investigation said a review of the madrassah’s syllabus books found portions that originated in Iran, “challenged some of Canada’s core values” and “suggested intolerance.”

“To demonstrate the thoroughness of our investigation we found it important to articulate that there are portions in there that clearly are not criminal, but perhaps from a pluralistic standpoint don’t necessarily appear to be the types of teachings that you would hope to see in an open forum,” Det. Brett Kemp said in an interview.

Pair charged with forcible confinement in suspected arranged-marriage case

EDMONTON – A man and woman are facing charges for allegedly assaulting and confining a 21-year-old woman against her will in a south Edmonton home after she refused to take part in a forced marriage outside of Canada.

Police were called to reports of a family dispute around 11:30 p.m. at a home in south Edmonton on Feb. 6 this year, Edmonton police said Thursday.

They found a 21-year-old woman who was being forcibly confined in her house.

Police say the woman was being forced to take part in a marriage outside of Canada, but did not say where. When the woman refused the marriage, she was assaulted and confined in the home, police allege.

Court records show the weapons allegedly used in the assault are an electrical cord and a laptop computer.

Few other details were provided by police. “It’s for the protection of the victim,” police spokeswoman Noreen Remtulla said.

On Tuesday, nine months to the day after the initial incident, hate crimes investigators laid several charges in the case.

Muhammad Rafi, 59, is charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, one count of assault and one count of forcible confinement. Najma Khokhar, 49, is charged with forcible confinement and assault. Both were released Wednesday on $1,000 bail and are slated to make their first appearances in an Edmonton court on Dec. 19.

Federal prosecutors play recordings, video in beheading plot

RALEIGH, N.C. — Jurors in the federal trial of a man accused of wanting to behead three people viewed videos and listened to recordings about the alleged plot on Tuesday.

Hysen Sherifi, 28, is on trial for charges stemming from accusations that he planned with his younger brother and a female friend to pay a hit man to carry out the killings.

At the time, he was already serving 45 years in prison after being convicted for plots to attack a Marine base at Quantico, Va., and targets overseas.

In court Tuesday, federal prosecutors claimed it is Sherifi’s voice on the recordings with a fellow inmate in which Sherifi allegedly talks about beheading two government witnesses in his first trial as well as another person who reportedly conned Sherifi out of money.

40 Percent of US Muslim Voters Want Islamic Law, 12 Percent Want Death for Blasphemers

Sharia law is a fake issue manufactured by Islamophobes. It’s a complete non-issue for everyone but the 50 percent of Muslims who want blasphemy laws, the 40 percent who want to live under Islamic law and the 12 percent who want to murder blasphemers. Oh and another 9 percent are undecided on the question of whether we should be hanging blasphemers or not.

Now this is obviously a non-issue because we will never actually prosecute people for blasphemy, even though a man who made a movie that offended Muslims was sent to jail on the orders of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. We will never actually do it, even though Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer suggested that we could do it.

But we won’t, because it can never happen here… until it does.

Let’s run a little thought experiment here. Suppose that instead of a few million Muslims in America, there were 50 or 60 million Muslims. As there will eventually be if immigration and birth rates continue on track. Suppose we have Muslim majorities in entire states such as Illinois and Michigan. And since statistics for the Muslim diaspora show that 2nd and 3rd generation Muslims are actually more “radicalized” than their immigrant parents and grandparents, what happens when half of those 50 million Muslims vote based on Islamic law, rather on the Constitution?
