Honor kilings in Norway. From Bruce Bawer

August 14, 2008 (8:15 P.M., CET): Last month an Iranian man hunted down and brutally murdered his estranged wife in Oslo. Todayhis estranged wife in Oslo. He also brutally murdered two small children between one and five years old, apparently the couple’s own children. All three victims were stabbed to death, and the scene of the crime was reportedly a very bloody and disturbing sight.
another Iranian man hunted down and brutally murdered
The husband is under arrest and a police press conference is now underway. The suspect is 44 years old and came to Norway in 1999 as an asylum seeker.

July 25, 2008 (12:19 P.M., CET): The police wouldn’t say anything about motive. Those in custody will be interrogated later today.

This violent episode, by the way, took place only hours after a couple of guys went driving around the west side of Oslo (i.e. the supposedly safe side) shooting at pedestrians with a luftpistol, which in English is apparently “soft gun” or “air soft gun.” They hit five people.
All together now: Summertime, and the living is easy…

Ayaan Hirsi Alli on Canadian TV show with Avi Lewis

I thought I had put this video up when it was more current and apparently I did not. I do feel it needs to be seen though for two reasons. The first of which, is Ayaan’s amazing story about oppression of women in Islam and the second of which is a clear demonstration of how absolutely hypocritical the Canadian leftist media is when of of their darlings, womens and gay rights, runs right over a more sacred leftist tar baby, hatred of the US and anything conservative or traditionally liberal and individualist. Avi Lewis attempts to destroy Ayaan Alli who knows more about Islam and women than he can ever know by attacking her for defending the USA. I fyou have not seen this video, its a must see to get a sense of where Canada is at.
Its also worth knowing that Avi Lewis, the host of this show who is so rabidly anti western he left and went to work for Al Jazeera last I checked.

Women, Afghanistan and Taliban threat letter to Canadian aid workers

Personally I would be tempted if I where the minister of defence to temporarily suspend all civilian aid to Afghanistan and double the armed personel for a while. Such as it is, here is an article from today’s National Post, a major Canadian daily about the letter from the Taliban threatening Canadian aid workers with some commentary. After that I have posted another article about women in Afghanistan in jail for being raped. Worth reading both and watching the video in a previous but recent article about improved but still horrifying conditions for women over there. One revealing line from the second article is

“Ostracised from her family and village, Saliha was convicted of escaping from home”

I think that say’s more than the rest of the article in some ways.

Taliban threaten to target Canadians

Letter promises more attacks on aid workers if troops don’t leave Afghanistan

Scott Deveau and Linda Nguyen, National Post and Canwest News Service

Published: Monday, August 18, 2008

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan – The Taliban issued a dire warning to Canada yesterday that if it does not withdraw its troops from Afghanistan, insurgents would continue to target all Canadians in the country, like they did earlier this week in an ambush attack on female aid workers outside Kabul.

Women in Afghanisan. A MUST WATCH

Firstly thank you Grace for finding this gem. A documentary which shows the improvements and work yet to be done in terms of womens rights in Afghanistan. It starts with an interview with a child bride who was sold by her father to pay gambling debts at seven years old. This is heart wrenching but really, its worth seeing not radical Islam but Islam as it was written to be under a nation which the rest of the Muslim world held up as the beacon of true Islam.

CNN Avoids Mentioning Islam in Segment on ‘Honor Killings’

http://www.jihadwatch.org/dhimmiwatch/archives/022174.php

No surprise here. But the only victims of this politically correct silence will be women who are victimized by honor killings while no one calls Muslim communities to account to do anything about this problem.

A manual of Islamic law certified by Al-Azhar as a reliable guide to Sunni orthodoxy says that “retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right.” However, “not subject to retaliation” is “a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring’s offspring.” (‘Umdat al-Salik o1.1-2).

In other words, someone who kills his child incurs no legal penalty under Islamic law.

Why does this stipulation appear in a manual of Islamic law if this has nothing to do with Islam?

“CNN Avoids Mentioning Islam in Segment on ‘Honor Killings,'” by Mark Finkelstein for NewsBusters, August 11 (thanks to all who sent this in):

Quite a feat: CNN has pulled off the MSM equivalent of describing a spiral staircase without using one’s hands. It has managed to produce a segment on “honor killings” and related violence in the UK . . . without using the word “Muslim” or “Islam.” CNN Newsroom anchor Don Lemon introduced the segment this afternoon at 1:37 PM EDT.

DON LEMON: Women forced into marriages, or killed for having the wrong boyfriend. So-called “honor crimes” are often committed by fathers or brothers when daughters do something that supposedly brings shame on the family. It’s on the rise in Britain, and authorities, they are very worried about it. Our Paula Newton reports.

View video here.

Honor crimes are “often committed” by father and brothers? And the crimes are “on the rise” in Britain? Now why would that be? Newton did little to elucidate. She told the story of Banaz Mahmod: kidnapped, tortured, raped and murdered at the order of her father, Mahmod Mahmod, for “bringing shame” on her family. Newton never mentioned that Mahmod was a Muslim, an Iraqi Kurd. According to Diana Nammi with the London-based Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organization, “we’re seeing an increase around the world, due in part to the rise in Islamic fundamentalism.”

Instead of identifying the root of the problem, Newton said only that British authorities have instituted public awareness campaigns in “the few communities” where they’ve seen problems. She cited a figure of 17,000 honor crimes or forced marriages as possibly being only the tip of the iceberg in the UK. A British police official is then seen decrying the fact that “the perceived honor of the family is seen as more important than the life of a child.” In which families? The policeman never said and CNN never explained….

What I think of Islam and the founder of it, Mohamed

In an article in today’s National Post newspaper a spokesperson for a Canadian Muslim organization had this to say about the complaint that was filed against Ezra Levant and the Western Standard over publication of the Danish Cartoons which subsequently caused Muslims to riot and kill uninvolved people including a nun and burn down buildings all over the place…

“We weren’t shopping around for any laws. We thought this was a good way to bring our concerns to the attention of the public,” she said. “Obviously we didn’t want this to continue, so [another goal was] perhaps to discourage people from further maligning our prophet and our religion… We wanted this to have a deterrent effect.”

In other words, this Muslim group wanted to use Canadian law to enforce sharia law on Canadians. To tell us what we are and are not allowed to say think and publish about Islam.

So on that note I would like to do a little maligning of my own of Islam and its founder the prophet Mohamed, the pedophile who married a six year old, fucked a 9 year old, killed or arranged to have killed hundreds and hundreds of people in his life time who he never met and did him no harm and broke even the arbitrary laws and rules of convenience he made up when they weren’t convenient to him.

Nice little video on honor killings set to music

This is a decent and passionate video on honor killings and deserves attention. There are things however that I disagree with, one is a common error, that its up to Muslims to change an aspect of Islam. I have made the objection to many in the anti jihad, that if we left it up to Nazis to change their genocidal tendencies or up to communists to become a free society the world would be the deepest circle of hell now. The second is the statement that the time for religion is over. This makes the common and simple assumption that the problem lies with religion and it does not. Religion like any other sphere of human thought and behaviour is more or less innate to humanity. Its how that drive is used and not the drive itself. One cannot say the problem with rape is sex or the problem with theft can be dealt with be eliminating desire for things. So it is with Islam’s perversion of the religious drive. Even so, this is a worthy watch.

Fox video on Honor killings in the US

At last main stream media has noticed how Islam treats women. This is a long overdue but not unappreciated documentary about Islamic men killing women for ‘being bad Muslims’. It’s worth noting that even this documentary fails to make an important distinction between arranged marriages and forced marriages. In Islam, women often get married without their consent or even having met the man involved. If a woman refuses this family arrangement they may expect imprisonment or often death. This is not the same as a Hindu or Jewish arranged marriage where both parties meet and decide freely.
If you do not wish to watch all 6 parts, watch part 5 for the interview with Phyllis Chesler, one of the few people who both understand the issue of women and Islam, and have both the courage and the skill to explain it simply and very well.

Phyllis Chesler gets it right on the money

Thanks Grace as always for finding this gem:

Islamic Gender Apartheid

By Phyllis Chesler
Front Page Magazine | December 16, 2005

A speech for the 12/14/05 Senate hearing organized by the American Committee for Democracy in the Middle East.

According to one Iranian dissident, “being born female is both a capital crime and a death sentence.” Today, the plight of both women and men in the Islamic world, and in an increasingly Islamized Europe, demands a sober analysis and a heroic response. In a democratic, modern, and feminist era, women in the Islamic world are not treated as human beings. Women in Iran and elsewhere in the Islamic world are viewed as the source of all evil. Their every move is brutally monitored and curtailed. The smallest infraction – a wanton wisp of hair escaping a headscarf – merits maximum punishment: Flogging in public, or worse. This is happening in Iran even as we speak. In 2005, a hospital in Tehran was accused of refusing entry to women who did not wear head-to-toe covering. In 2002, in Saudi Arabia, religious policemen prevented 14 year old schoolgirls from leaving a burning school building because they were not wearing their headscarves and abayahs. Fifteen girls died.

Today, George Orwell’s Thought Police are, rather ominously, everywhere in the Arab and Islamic world. Orwell’s Thought Police pre-date the Afghan Taliban or Iran’s or Saudi Arabia’s Virtue-and-Vice squads, who arrest men and women for the smallest sign of “individuality”, difference, or female-ness.

Women in Iran, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, and increasingly in Egypt, are veiled from head to toe. They live in purdah and lead segregated lives. Women are also forced into arranged and polygamous marriages, often when they are children, and often to much older men or to first cousins.

Another Islamic ‘honor killing’ in the US. Jonesboro Ga.

(Eeyore’s correction: Muslims have forced marriages not arranged marriages. An arranged marriage still has elements of choice in it. Either party can refuse it. In Islamic forced marriages, The woman doesn’t have to consent or even be present. Only the husband and father need sign the marriage papers and the religious official.)

A 25-year-old Jonesboro woman is dead after police said she told her father she wanted out of an arranged marriage.

Police said they found Sandela Kanwal’s body inside a home in the 9600 block of Utah Drive in Jonesboro. They said Kanwal had been strangled to death by her father, Chaudhry Rashid, 56.

Chaudhry Rashid

Police said Chaudhry Rashid strangled his 25-year-old daughter to death because she wanted out of an arranged marriage. More Details

“Apparently, she had been married and has had no contact with her husband who lives in Chicago for the last three months,” said Tim Owens of the Clayton County Police Department.Owens said the victim and her father argued over the marriage and the fact that it had been arranged. “At some point during the altercation, he ended up killing his daughter,” said Owens. MANUEL BOJORQUEZ: Police: Father Strangled Daughter To Death Police said they have encountered numerous challenges with the case, particularly because of a language barrier.Authorities are not saying how the victim was killed.Police said the family is from Pakistan. Neighbors were shocked to hear about the tragedy. “My heart goes out. They seemed to be decent, lovely people,” said neighbor Veronda Luckett.Rashid remains in jail charged with murder.

Demographic Conquest

by Baron Bodissey

Several years ago, after 9-11 but before we started blogging, Dymphna and I often had discussions about the coming Islamization of Europe. It was easy to see the trend: on the one hand there was the demographic decline of the indigenous population, and on the other was a dangerous multicultural ideology that fosters increasing levels of Muslim immigration.

The conclusion was obvious: absent a change of course, Europe will become a Muslim continent by the year X. The only question is whether X will be 2040, or 2100, or somewhere in between.

What was hard to understand was how the transfer of power would occur. Right now the parts of Europe that have been Islamized are mostly the working-class neighborhoods of large European cities and their suburbs. The blue-collar natives are gradually driven out as whole districts become no-go zones.

However, the elites who make policy remain in power and are for the most part removed from the effects of their decisions. They don’t live in the devastated neighborhoods, or send their children to the gang-plagued schools, or worry about being mugged or raped on their way home at night.

So for the time being they get to retain their power and perks, and continue to act out the illusion of an advanced, harmonious, enlightened, multicultural society, superior in so many ways to the racist nationalistic states of the past.

The UN really must be ignored. Islam now above criticism

Discussion of religious questions now banned at UN Human Rights Council

From Europe News Denmark

International Humanist and Ethical Union June 30 2008

The UN Human Rights Council is not allowed to judge religions, according to president Doru Romulus Costea of Romania. Criticism of Sharia law or fatwas is now forbidden.

This ruling follows attempts by the Egyptian and Pakistani delegates at the Council to silence criticism of human rights abuse in the Islamic world.

The representative of the Association for World Education, in a joint statement with the International Humanist and Ethical Union, had denounced the stoning to death of women accused of adultery and of girls being married at the age of nine years old in countries where Sharia law applies.

The speaker, David Littman, was interrupted by no fewer than 16 points of order and the proceedings of the Council were suspended for forty minutes when the Egyptian delegate said that “Islam will not be crucified in this Council” and attempted to force a vote on whether the speaker should be allowed to continue.

On giving his ruling after the break Council President Costea said that the Council “is not prepared to discuss religious questions and we don’t have to do so”. “Declarations must avoid judgments or evaluation about religion. … I promise that next time a speaker judges a religion or a religious law or document, I will interrupt him and pass on to the next speaker”.
