Before Iftikhar wastes our time with nonsense about honour killings being a tribal problem that can be solved by state funded muslim schools, the book, Reliance of the Traveller, the most authoritative book on Islamic law in print and signed by Al Azaar and every other Islamic authority explains in no unambiguous way that there shall be no retribution for a parent or grandparent who kills his child that offends Islam especially for apostasy.

Girl’s father denounces act. She is now in Lebanon and refuses to return and abandon Christianity. Two colleagues charged, one Saudi and one Lebanese.
Riyadh (AsiaNews) – Two men have been arrested in the Saudi Gulf city Al-Khobar, on charges of “forcible conversion” of a girl to Christianity. They are guilty of giving her books on religion and inviting her to follow a chat room about religious matters.
According to Al–Eqtisadiya newspaper the girl’s father laid charges against the two men, one Saudi and one Lebanese, after he failed to convince the young woman to return home from Lebanon and abandon her new faith.
According to the local Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution (BIP), the story dates back to when the young woman, who works in a bank, struck up a friendship first with her Saudi colleague and then the other Lebanese colleague. The three would meet up from time to time, the girl fell in love with the young Lebanese who gave her books and invited her to follow a religious chat room.
In the complaint, the father says that man influenced her, inspiring misconceptions about Islam and had “shaken her convictions.” He claims that the girl also left the country illegally. Under Saudi law, in fact, a woman can not have a passport without the permission of her “guardian” that is, father, husband or brother.
The girl, speaking from Lebanon where she currently is, defends her new faith and says that the Church is her only home.

But fortunately for us, Islam hasn’t been able to make every Muslim its slave, just as Nazism wasn’t able to turn every German into a Nazi. So there is Islam and there are Muslims. Muslims who take Islam seriously are at war with us and Muslims who don’t aren’t.

“There is unanimity that the male apostate must be put to death.”
Liberal talk show host Tawfiq Okasha recently appeared on “Egypt Today,” airing a video of Muslims slicing off a young man’s head off for the crime of apostasy — in this instance, the crime of converting to Christianity and refusing to renounce it. The video—be warned, it is immensely graphic—can be seen here (the actual execution appears from minute 1:13-4:00). For those who prefer not to view it, a summary follows:
A young man appears held down by masked men. His head is pulled back, with a knife to his throat. He does not struggle and appears resigned to his fate. Speaking in Arabic, the background speaker, or “narrator,” chants a number of Muslim prayers and supplications, mostly condemning Christianity, which, because of the Trinity, is referred to as a polytheistic faith: “Let Allah be avenged on the polytheist apostate”; “Allah empower your religion, make it victorious against the polytheists”; “Allah, defeat the infidels at the hands of the Muslims,” and “There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger.”
Then, to cries of “Allahu Akbar!”— Allah is greater!”—the masked man holding the knife to the apostate’s throat begins to slice away, severing the head completely after approximately one minute of graphic knife-carving, as the victim drowns in blood. Finally, the severed head is held aloft to more Islamic slogans of victory.
Visibly distraught, Tawfiq Okasha, the host, asks: “Is this Islam? Does Islam call for this? How is Islam related to this matter?…These are the images that are disseminated throughout the electronic media in Europe and America…. Can you imagine?” Then, in reference to Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood and Salafis, whose political influence has grown tremendously, he asks, “How are such people supposed to govern?”
Only the other day, a prominent Egyptian Salafi leader — referring to the canonical hadiths, including Muhammad’s command, “Whoever leaves his religion, kill him” — openly stated that no Muslim has the right to apostatize, or leave Islam.
Yoga practitioner in Canada faces possibility of execution in Iran

“I had a good job in Iran, but I came here [to Canada] and worked hard so I could know what it’s like to live in freedom,” says Kavoos Soofi Shiaoosh, 43.
He arrived in Toronto, in 2004, on a renewable student visa, but started a painting business after it expired. Shiaoosh also changed his religious views during this time. He renounced Islam, and took up a new faith.
Shiaoosh says that, growing up Kurdish, but still Muslim, in Iran, he had always thought about religion.
Living in Canada Shiaoosh eventually came across Sahaja Yoga meditation. Based on traditional Hindu chakra meditation, Sahaja describes itself as, “a method of meditation which brings a breakthrough in the evolution of human awareness.”
He soon began telling his friends about Sahaja, and later joined a Facebook group called “I am not a Muslim.”
After the 2009 Iranian elections he campaigned against the regime in Tehran and its brutal crackdown of the pro-democracy movements, and the rape and torture of young demonstrators by the clerical militia, Basiji. Shiaoosh even compared Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomenei to Adolf Hitler.
Now an apostate and an anti-Tehran activist, in 2008 Shiaoosh claimed asylum, based on the certainty of torture and execution if he were ever to return to Iran. It seemed a clear cut case. But a year later, immigration had rejected Shiaoosh’s claim for refugee status.

Tunisian Atheists sentenced to seven and a half years of prison

“Problems started since university times, when a student from my dorm decided to throw me out the window, if not for my friend Atef Khawaja, , who held him back in the last moment , and that is because of a debate we had about Islam.”
With these words, the Tunisian young man Ghazi El Beji started telling me his story with the religious oppression that transformed his life to a terrifying nightmare. It made him live his days followed by Tunisian police and a group of citizens that assigned themselves the duty of protecting religion.
Ghazi spoke to me after he and his friend (about whom I will talk later) were sentenced in absentee to seven and a half years of prison and a fiscal penalty of 1200 Tunisian Dinars, by a court in Mahdia.
Ghazi El Beji graduated from university in 2007, he did not find a degree appropriate job, so worked as a ticket agent in the coast metro in Tunis. During his work, his colleagues have discovered his atheism, and started harassing him and calling him anathema until the news spread around to everyone in the agency. His fellow ticket agent kept him from getting on the train unless he states that he is Muslim in front of everyone, so Ghazi did in order to be left alone, but that did not prevent him getting fired from work due to the numerous accusations of heresy.
Afterwards, Ghazi started working in the alimentary dough factory in Sousse, and he was busted eating during the day in Ramadan. His colleagues started asking why he wasn’t fasting, so he answered that he was sick and cannot , but they insisted on bothering him and the problems started growing and questions rising :”why don’t you pray? Why don’t you read the Quran?” Until he could not stand it anymore, so he told them that he does not believe in what they worship, and that he is free in what he thinks , but no one understood his position and Ghazi became everyone’s worry in the factory, and they named him “Abu Lahab”.
Afterwards the matter reached the administration so they called him and made him state that he was Muslim, and asked him various questions such as “who is your God?”… He told them that he came to the factory to work and that religion was not related to the efforts he makes for the factory. Nevertheless, this statement did not help, but rather worsened the matter: everyone started hating and avoiding him. He was ejected by all, and the factory director was glancing at him with scorn, and giving him non-innocent illusions thinking that he was homosexual, as his colleagues asked him about his opinions concerning sex and homosexuality, so he was eventually fired regardless his good performance.

Fear: Sabatina James says she ran away from home after strict Muslim parents threatened to kill her
A women’s rights campaigner has revealed how she fears for her life after her strict Muslim parents threatened to kill her when she dared to refuse an arranged marriage.
Sabatina James said the threat made her flee the family home at 18, change her name, convert to Catholicism and move abroad to set up a foundation for women in similar danger.
Her parents took her to court after she wrote a book about her experiences, in which she claimed to have been beaten as her teenager for kissing a boy and wearing clothes they thought were too revealing.
They sued her for defamation – and lost.
Miss James said she believed she would probably be dead now, if her parents had their way.
She told the Daily Beast: ‘I rarely go out alone.
‘I often wonder if someone is lurking around the corner.
‘I have always loved my freedom – but I have paid a high price.’
Miss James claimed that, after she refused to marry the man her parents had chosen, her father told her: ‘The honour of this family is more important than my life or your life.’
But she added that her mother was even stricter, beating her and watching her every move to the point where she had ‘no anchor’.
Miss James, who grew up in a rural village near the Kashmir mountains, said her problems began when she was 15 and the family lived in the Austrian city of Linz.
While she enjoyed the freedoms of Western culture, such as wearing lipstick and eyeliner, her conservative parents, who were brought together in an arranged marriage, disapproved.

Muslim cleric Haitham al-Haddad or British-Palestinian extraction is part of a debate in Holland along with several other people I have yet to identify. I have excerpted a segment of that debate below along with a brief interview with him on his position on Jewish people but the whole debate can be seen here.
What I found immediately interesting is how in both clips he attempts to deny things everyone can clearly read that he had said from his own pen or reported from his own mouth. I wonder how much longer he, and so very many like him can continue to get away with this. If a person not wearing a nightgown were to say these things he would go to jail.

A Somali convert from Islam was paraded before a cheering crowd last month and publicly flogged as a punishment for embracing a “foreign religion,” sources said.
Sofia Osman, a 28-year-old Christian from Janale city in Somalia’s Lower Shabelle region, had been taken into custody by Islamic extremist al Shabaab militants in November; the public whipping was meant to mark her release. She received 40 lashes on Dec. 22 while jeered by spectators.
“Osman was whipped 40 lashes at 3 p.m., but she didn’t tell what other humiliations she had suffered while in the hands of the militants,” an eyewitness, told Compass, adding that whipping left her bleeding. “I saw her faint.
