Lars Hedegaard Sues Swedish Media for Libel

Expert on free expression: ”Nothing but an outright lie”

The February 5th assassination attempt on Lars Hedegaard, editor-in-chief of Dispatch International, was reported all over the world. There was a remarkable difference, however, between the way in which the Swedish media and international media handled the news. While international media systematically called Hedegaard “an Islam-critic”, or even “prominent Islam-critic”, Swedish media chose just as systematically to use the loaded term “enemy of Islam”.

Several Swedish newspapers also chose to publish various versions of the story from Swedish national news agency TT, which contained this wording:

”Lars Hedegaard, once convicted for racism, has been subject to an assassination attempt. An unknown man reportedly shot at Hedegaard outside his Copenhagen home.

”The author Hedegaard is one of the few Danes who is a certified racist, as he some years ago was fined by a High Court for having stated in a blog interview that Muslim fathers rape their children. He was later acquitted by the Supreme Court.”

The truth is that no conviction of Lars Hedegaard was upheld. The charges under to the Danish “racism clause” were rejected without dissent by the Supreme Court, which thus invalidated the High Court conviction.

The deafening silence of the Left over the ‘Muslim Patrol’

The aftermath of the recent ‘Muslim Patrol’ saga served as another reminder of the British Left’s cherry-picking approach to morality

by Saleem Khan on 25 January 2013 18:10

There aren’t many times in politics when people of different stripes can unite over an issue, but I’m heartened to see that the Left have joined the chorus of condemnation over the disgusting behavior of the thuggish ‘Muslim Patrol’ gang.

Sorry, hold on. That’s in a parallel universe. Here in our universe, no such thing has happened. As with every other instance of Islamist fanaticism, the Left remains silent. Case in point: I emailed several groups, including Unite Against Fascism (UAF), The Respect Party (RP), and The Socialist Workers Party (SWP), asking for their comments on the incidents. Want to guess how many replied to me?

Zero.

Bear in mind my emails were polite, concise and formal; I don’t go in for name calling and playground-level discourse. Of course, that’s what they would prefer. Had I written a long, ranty email full of insults, they would have responded like a shot. Take that ammunition away from them by asking a simple, sober question, and they can’t respond. As an aside, I also emailed George Galloway asking for his reaction; equally polite. Not that I expected a reply from him either.

Kevin Carroll arrested on suspicion of race hate crime

It would be interesting to find even one biologist on planet earth who can explain how Islam is a race, yet you can convert in (and at the risk of your life) out of it. Just one. And that should be enough of a defence anywhere in the world where reason and empiricism still hold sway.

As they do not, Mr. Carroll may be in trouble.

The joint leader of the English Defence League has been arrested on suspicion of a race hate crime.

Kevin Carroll, the cousin of the recently jailed Stephen Lennon – who founded the EDL – was apprehended on Saturday morning by police officers investigating a message he posted on Facebook that alledgedly incited racial hatred.

Mr Carroll is the joint leader of the British Freedom Party and he recently stood unsuccessfully for election as Bedfordshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner last November.

A spokesman for Bedfordshire Police said: “A 43 year old was arrested on Saturday morning on suspicion of ‘Display threatening abusive/insulting written material with intent/likely to stir up racial hatred’.”

Syria Kills 885 Palestinian Arabs that Palestinian Authority, Hamas and Jordan Refuse to Take In

January 13, 2013 By 9 Comments

During Israel’s recent Pillar of Defense, Palestinian Arab combatant and non-combatant casualties totaled about 150. Naturally we had to read 40,000 more articles about Gaza being an open-air concentration camp with luxury hotels, mansions and the iPhone 5.

Meanwhile both sides in the Syrian civil war have racked up a score of 885 Palestinian Arabs dead and the world hasn’t paid any attention.

Everyone who claims to care about Palestinian Arabs immediately sprang into action. Including Palestinian leaders.

Hamas told the UNRWA that they will not accept Palestinian Arab refugees from Syria because it will undermine their political case against Israel.

President Abbas of the Palestinian Authority agreed, saying, “It’s better they die in Syria than give up their right of return.”

As many people make promises to themselves to improve their lives or their societies in the coming year, here is a suggested New Year’s resolution for media outlets in America and worldwide: Drop the term “Islamist.”

The Associated Press (AP) added the term to its influential Stylebook in 2012. That entry reads: “Islamist — Supporter of government in accord with the laws of Islam. Those who view the Quran as a political model encompass a wide range of Muslims, from mainstream politicians to militants known as jihadi.”

The AP says it sought input from Arabic-speaking experts and hoped to provide a neutral perspective by emphasizing the “wide range” of religious views encompassed in the term.

Donald Kaul retired earlier this year. Now he has decided to return to writing occasional opinion columns for OtherWords.org. The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Conn. brought out all his ugliness.

In a column that appeared after the shooting with the headline “Kaul: Nation needs a new agenda on guns,” he proposed a new liberal agenda: repeal the Second Amendment, declare the NRA a terrorist organization and make membership illegal, and well, make violent threats to Republican leaders and NRA members. The Des Moines Register published this junk on December 29.

Newspaper who outed legal gun owners hires armed guards to defend itself from angry victims of its stunt.

And I am 100% certain that the newspaper has justified this to itself to avoid any irony or embarrassment. After all, totalitarian leftists are always justified in using the exact measures they deny to the rest of the population.

The Journal News of West Nyack, N.Y., has hired armed security guards to defend its offices after receiving a torrent of phone calls and emails responding to the paper’s publication of the names and addresses of area residents with pistol permits.

RGA Investigations, a private security company, “is doing private security at on location at the Journal News as a result of the negative response to the article,” according to a police report first obtained by the Rockland County Times (Nanuet, N.Y.) and shared with POLITICO. The guards “are armed and will be on site during business hours through at least January 2, 2013.”

Document vindicates Army officer’s teaching on Islam

H/T EDL Buck

One News Now:

A law firm that defends and promotes Christian heritage and moral values says it has obtained a document that vindicates an 18-year veteran Army officer who is being disciplined for telling the truth about Islam.

The Thomas More Law Center says it has obtained more evidence to prove its contention that the Pentagon is taking its marching orders from Islamic groups in taking extreme disciplinary action against Lt. Col. Matthew Dooley, a 1994 graduate of the United States Military Academy.

The highly decorated armor officer was excoriated and relieved of a teaching assignment because he discussed negative aspects of Islam in an elective course entitled “Perspectives on Islam and Islamic Radicalism” at the Joint Services Staff College.

Richard Thompson, president and chief counsel of the Thomas More Law Center, says they have obtained an official communication that vindicates their client.

Abu QatadaAbu Qatada

Wednesday December 12,2012

By Stephen Pollard

THERE have been few more repellent spectacles this year than the smirking Abu Qatada moving house. Qatada, let me remind you, is the man described by a judge as Osama Bin Laden’s righthand man in Europe.

He has been convicted of a conspiracy to bomb hotels in Jordan and of assisting other bomb plots.Because of a decision last month by the Special Immigration Appeals Commission the Government was forced to release him from prison and unless she wins her appeal Home Secretary Theresa May will have to give up her bid to have him deported to Jordan.

One of Mrs May’s predecessors as home secretary, David Blunkett, said while he was in office that Qatada was “extraordinarily dangerous”.
