Iraq allegedly has agreed to allow 50,000 Iranian Basij militia troops into the country to help suppress riotsagainst the government and seize Arab and other foreign embassies, including that of the United States. The two leaders allegedly agreed to allow the Basij forces to attack and occupy the foreign embassies considered hostile to Iran in Baghdad, and to detain their staffs.
Iraq’s Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and Iranian military commander Qassaem Soleimani, head of Iran’s Al Qods Force, allegedly shook hands on the plan over the weekend at a meeting in Baghdad. Pledging 50,000 Basij military troops to help al-Maliki put down the nationwide riots against his government, Soleimani was quoted as saying “the Iraqi Front is the last front to defend the security of Iran.”
The report, which appeared Saturday on the Voice of Iraq website and that of theNashwan News, apparently offered enough evidence to create concern among analysts in the United States. “Even if there is a slim chance that the report is true, it should be published immediately,” commented U.S.-based Middle East strategy expert Mark Langfan.
U.S. embassies have become an increasingly popular target for disgruntled Islamists who wish to whip up popular support, attempt to terrorize Western leaderships or terrorize a local population into submission, such as last year’s September 11, 2012 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya in which four American diplomats were killed — including U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens.
In 1979, Iranian radical Islamists seized the American Embassy in Tehran and took 52 hostages captive on November 4 to express their support of the Iranian Revolution. A U.S. attempt to rescue the hostages on April 24, 1980 ended in failure and the deaths of eight American soldiers, one Iranian civilian and the destruction of two U.S. aircraft. Three months later, Iraq invaded Iran, leading to negotiations between the U.S. and Iran for release of the hostages, brokered by Algeria. The hostages were not freed until January 1981.

Leading Tunisian Opposition Figure Is Fatally Shot
CAIRO — A leading Tunisian opposition politician who had fiercely criticized the Islamist-led government, accusing it of turning a blind eye to violence by religious hardliners, was fatally shot by unknown gunmen outside his home in Tunis on Wednesday, officials said.
The politician, Chokri Belaid, a leading member of a leftist opposition alliance former in October, was shot just as he was leaving his house in the capital city, the state news agency TAP said. A colleague in Mr. Belaid’s opposition alliance told Reuters that he was killed with four bullets to the head and chest.
Tunisia’s president, Moncef Marzouki, cut short an overseas trip and was scheduled to return to the country. The prime minister, Hamada Jebali, called the killing “a political assassination and the assassination of the Tunisian revolution,” according to Reuters.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the killing, which appeared to represent a dangerous new phase in Tunisia’s troubled transition to democracy. Since becoming the first Arab country to overthrow its leader after the start of the uprisings in 2011, Tunisia has been torn between its legacy as a bastion for Arab secularism, and its new role, as a proving ground for the region’s emerging democracies in which Islamists play a leading role.

Danish free speech advocate and critic of radical Islam, Lars Hedegaard, survived an assassination attempt by a gunman Tuesday at his Copenhagen home.
Hedegaard’s partner, Swedish journalist Ingrid Carlqvist, told TheBlaze that the young man appeared to be of Arab descent and that she and Hedegaard are certain the motives for the attack stem from the launch of their new weekly newspaper, “Dispatch International,” which contains content critical of radical Islam.
Hedegaard was shaken but not physically injured in the attack at his apartment, where a gunman, posed as a deliveryman, rang the doorbell under the pretense that he had a package to deliver. When Hedegaard opened the front door, the man pulled out a gun and began firing.
“The bullet flew past my right ear, after which I attacked him and punched him in the face, which made him lose the gun,” Hedegaard told the AP. Carlqvist said that the gunman attempted to shoot twice more but that the assailant’s gun jammed each time.
“I am so happy that he was such a lousy shooter, that he missed.” Carlqvist told TheBlaze. “The bullet went right beside Lars’ head. It is really a miracle that Lars is alive.”

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — A suspected suicide bomber detonated an explosive Friday in front of the U.S. Embassy in Ankara, killing himself and a guard at the entrance gate, officials said.
U.S. Ambassador Francis Ricciardione told reporters that a Turkish citizen was also wounded in the 1:15 p.m. blast in the Turkish capital.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but both Kurdish rebels and Islamic militants are active in Turkey.

Hitler salute in breach of agitation laws: court

A Malmö court has convicted a man who did a Nazi salute in a park for racial agitation and sentenced him to community service.
The 33-year-old man was watching the football game between Sweden and Ukraine during the summer on a big screen in a local park when the incident took place.
In court, he said the Hitler salute was an “internal joke” between him and his friends. He also stated that he was too drunk at the time to realize the gesture was inappropriate.
The court in its verdict said it had taken these claims into consideration, but found his action to be in breach of Sweden’s agitation law(hets mot folkgrupp).
The law is meant to protect against harassment of people based on, for example, their ethnicity, religion, sexuality and gender.
Sweden also has legislation on “hate crimes,” which means a sentence can be made more severe if a criminal act can be proven to have been motivated by prejudice or hatred.

Knifing at event dealing with right-wing extremism
One person was injured Wednesday evening in a knifing that took place in the Jyväskylä city library where a presentation was underway of a new book about the extreme right in Finland.
There was no information immediately available on the extent of injuries suffered, but according to eyewitnesses, the person wounded was part of the event’s security personnel, walked to an ambulance called to the scene.
A group of young men describing themselves as “patriots” started a fight after being refused entrance to a discussion event dealing with the Finnish extreme right. Bottles were also used as weapons in the fray.
Eyewitnesses say that the perpetrators fled the scene. Police are investigating the incident as aggravated assault.
The event in the city library was organized in connection with a presentation of the bookÄärioikeisto Suomessa, (or “The Finnish Far-Right”) by Mikael Brunilan and Dan Koivulaakso.

UANI Calls on Finnish Engine Manufacturer Wärtsilä to End Irresponsible Business Activities Related to Iran
Company Supplies Engines and Technology to Shipbuilders Building Oil Tankers for Regime
New York, NY – On Thursday, United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) called on the Finnish engine manufacturer Wärtsilä Corporation to end its irresponsible business activities related to Iran.
Wärtsilä provides technology and marine diesel engines to Chinese shipbuilders that are currently building oil tankers for the Iranian regime. Wärtsilä reportedly maintains a presence in Iran through its agents and licensees.
Wärtsilä’s activities are of particular concern given that the international community is attempting to isolate Iranian via its shipping industry, and new tankers greatly assist the regime in attempting to overcome such efforts.
UANI is calling on Wärtsilä to completely end all business related to Iran, and investigate and end any support for the construction of new oil tankers to be used by the regime.
In a letter to Wärtsilä President & CEO, Björn Rosengren, UANI CEO, Ambassador Mark D. Wallace, wrote:
Earlier this year, UANI launched its Shipping Campaign to compel international shippers, classification societies, P&I clubs and governments worldwide to cease their [Iran] business. … In response to UANI’s campaign, members of the International Association of Classification Societies … ceased their classification of Iranian vessels.

Despite these positive developments, a few irresponsible entities continue to provide valuable expertise, services and investment to the Iranian regime. For example, Wärtsilä has reportedly supplied engines for IRISL vessels, and stated that it maintains an agent in Iran to handle future business with power plant and shipbuilding clients. Moreover, Wärtsilä is apparently involved in the construction of 12 new Very Large Crude Carriers (“VLCCs”) for the NITC. The vessels, built in shipyards owned by the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (“CSIC”) and the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (“CSSC”), will expand the NITC’s carriage and storage capacity by up to 24 million barrels. Through license agreements and joint ventures, Wärtsilä supplies CSIC and CSSC with parts and technology, such as Wärtsilä RT-flex50, RT-flex60C and RT-flex82C engines, to produce the low-speed marine diesel engines required to power vessels such as Iran’s new VLCCs. The Iranian regime’s seaborne export capacity is currently limited by restrictions on the provision of technical expertise and tanker replacement parts to Iran, as well as by the age of the vessels in the NITC’s fleet. Wärtsilä’s work with the CSIC and CSSC supports the construction of VLCCs for the NITC fleet and will greatly assist the regime in overcoming such limitations. Put simply, Wärtsilä is assisting the Iranian regime’s development of its most lucrative economic sector, the revenues from which go directly to fund the regime’s nefarious activities, including its nuclear program.

In addition, Wärtsilä’s business in Iran includes a partnership with the Iran Heavy Diesel Engine Mfg Co. (“DESA”), a regime-controlled entity that provides services to such sanctioned entities as the Iran Shipbuilding & Offshore Industries Complex (“ISOICO”), Iran Marine Industrial Company (“SADRA”), and the National Iranian Drilling Company (“NIDC”). DESA and its sanctioned clients are owned or controlled by the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran (“IDRO”), an arm of the Iranian regime controlled by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (“IRGC”) and blacklisted by the U.S., UK and EU for its activities in a wide range of nuclear and military industries. In light of its connection to IDRO, Wärtsilä’s apparent partnership with DESA is clearly unacceptable.
UANI has highlighted the shipping industry as an area where the international community can further pressure Iran. In a May 17 Wall Street Journal Op-Ed, six UANI board members wrote that “the world must deny Iran’s access to international shipping, a move that would severely affect the regime given its dependence on global trade and seaborne crude oil exports.”
All thirteen of the world’s major shipping services have stopped certifying Iranian vessels following UANI’s campaign, including Bureau Veritas, Germanischer Lloyd, the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, Korean Register of Shipping, China Classification Society, and ClassNK. UANI has also announced that Barbados, Hong Kong, Moldova and Mongolia have stopped their reflagging of Iranian vessels.

A loud blast was reported on a bus in the Shaul Hamelech street in the heart of Tel Aviv near the Kirya base. Rescue forces reported of a mass casualty event. Defense sources said it was a terror attack.
Seventeen people were injured; two sustained moderate to serious injuries, three sustained moderate wounds and the rest were lightly wounded. One woman suffered shock.
The wounded were evacuated to the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center. A security source estimated that an explosive device was planted on the bus. Police suspect there may be another explosive device in the area and examine estimations that a terrorist hurled a grenade at the bus and fled the scene.

An eye witness at the scene said: “I heard a boom and then saw a black cloud. Guys in the cab radio said ‘A bus is dismantled.'”
Eye witnesses near the Kirya reported that the base speakers called all soldiers to take cover. Many police cars arrived at the area.

Turkish prime minister vows in speech in Cairo support for Palestinians in Gaza
CAIRO – Turkey’s prime minister has vowed support for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan described Egypt’s uprising that ousted longtime autocratic leader Hosni Mubarak from power last year as a point of hope for Palestinians. The Turkish leader delivered his remarks in a speech at Cairo University Saturday.
He also met President Mohammed Morsi in Cairo for the first time since the Egyptian Islamist leader was elected late June.
The Turkish leader is in Egypt with a delegation of 12 ministers and 350 businessmen.
Meanwhile, hundreds of people protested outside the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, where Arab foreign ministers are meeting to discuss Israel’s expanded fierce air assault on rocket operations in Gaza, which is run by the Islamic militant Hamas group.

The end never justifies the means
Just because you break the law with a group of people, doesn’t exonerate you or your fellow colleagues from the crime committed, no matter how noble your cause may be. Violating another’s civil rights is never a justifiable act.
Demonstration got out of hand in Helsinki center
Protesters defending Turkey’s Kurdish human rights, stopped traffic completely on Mannerheim street in Helsinki’s city center on Saturday afternoon.
According to witnesses, the protesters were behaving aggressively, as some of the motorists tried to continue their journey.
The protesters were jumping on top of cars and beating the hoods.
They also sought to stop the tram.
One woman did not dare to proceed with her own car, because she feared her car would be damaged. The protesters did not damage those vehicles that stayed in place.
The incident took place at around 15.30 in the afternoon. Plenty of police quickly arrived to the scene. According to the Helsinki police about 40-50 people showed up to protest.
Most of them were apparently Turkish Kurds, but there were also some Finns among the crowd.

The only power of a mob, as against an individual, is greater muscular strength—i.e., plain, brute physical force. The attempt to solve social problems by means of physical force is what a civilized society is established to prevent. The advocates of mass civil disobedience admit that their purpose is intimidation. A society that tolerates intimidation as a means of settling disputes—the physical intimidation of some men or groups by others—loses its moral right to exist as a social system, and its collapse does not take long to follow.
Politically, mass civil disobedience is appropriate only as a prelude to civil war—as the declaration of a total break with a country’s political institutions.
