Two arrested in NYC synagogue attack plot sting

NEW YORK – Two men trying to buy weapons including AK 47s and hand grenades as part of a plot to attack Manhattan synagogues were arrested in New York City, averting a terror threat, law enforcement sources said.

This is the 13th plot thwarted against the city since the Sept. 11.

The men were arrested last night in Midtown Manhattan as part of a police operation that had begun prior to Osama bin Laden’s death and was not a result of any retaliatory plan, sources said.

While the suspects talked about attacking synagogues in Manhattan no specific synagogue had been targeted.

They will be charged under the New York state’s anti-terror laws and will appear in court today.

Federal prosecutors are aware of the case but declined to charge them under federal terrorism laws.

The two men, at least one of whom was a muslim of North African descent, had already obtained some guns and were trying to buy more more, as well as a grenade.

Their attempts were detected by investigators with the NYPD’s Intelligence Division, who moved in to set up a sting.

One of the men, in his 20s, lives in Queens. That man was apparently going to sell drugs to buy the guns. He has prior arrests, including for drug possession.

Mayor Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly are expected to discuss the arrests this afternoon at City Hall.

US Drone Strike Kills 15 Militants, Says Pakistan

Pakistani intelligence officials say a U.S. missile attack close to the Afghan border has killed at least 15 people.

Friday’s drone attack was the first reported strike since Monday’s pre-dawn U.S. commando raid that killed al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden.

Authorities say the attack targeted a compound in North Waziristan, a stronghold of Taliban and al-Qaida militants on the border with Afghanistan.

U.S. drone strikes against militants based in Pakistan’s tribal belt have been a source of friction between the two countries and Friday’s strike could further inflame tensions between Islamabad and Washington.

OMBUDSMAN FOR MINORITIES DOESN’T WASTE TIME, SEEKS TO INVESTIGATE TRUE FINNS MP FOR INCITEMENT AGAINST AN ETHNIC GROUP

The architects of multiculturalism bring out the long arm of political correctness against the new parliamentarian, and already threaten the man from Viitasaari with incitement of an ethnic group.

Teuvo Hakkarainen, newly elected member of parliament in the True Finns party from Central Finland, mentioned the word “negro” and minarets in a Helsingin Sanomat interview, and quickly got into trouble.

The entire political elite was aghast at Hakkarainen’s use of the “N” word, as well as his warning about minarets, accompanied by him mimicking the Islamic call to prayer. This is  a major stab in the heart to free speech, and major triumph for tyranny. KGS

The Ombudsman for Minorities requested an investigation of Hakkarainen’s statements

The Ombudsman for Minorities Eva Biaudet has asked the General Prosecutor to assess whether the True Finns MP is guilty of ethnic agitation, or other offense in the Helsingin Sanomat video interview.

Biaudet says MP Hakkarainens deeply offensive statements towards certain ethnic groups do not include constructive criticism such as points on immigration, but his views are essentially racist and offensive to human dignity.

The Ombudsman for Minorities has asked the General Prosecutor to assess the opinions of Hakkarainen that go beyond the limit of freedom of expression.

Biaudet deems Hakkarainen’s opinions of immigrants, asylum seekers, of dark skin color people as well as Muslims defamatory and abusive.

-“They can provide misleading impression that a certain group of people are criminals, and inferior,” says Biaudet.

According to Biaudet the freedom of speech within a democracy is not absolute. She refers to the Penal Code 11 Chapter 10 which forbids all so-called hate speech.

Minister of Justice Tuija Brax does not want to assess the Ombudsman’s call for an investigation.

DANES SAVE MORE THAN FIVE BILLION A YEAR BY TIGHTENING IMMIGRATION

The portion worth paying attention to is the fact that Western immigrants to Denmark are net contributers to the Danish economy, while non-Western immigrants are a major drain. The question outside of further tightening immigration policies, is what to do about the immigrants and their descendants who are there to stay, seeing that they remain a drain on the economy? Tighten the Danish immigration policy has saved Denmark for five billion. lion in the past nine years. More tightening to come.

Denmark has saved 5.1 billion. a year on importing a foreign policy that is much tighter than before 2002.

According to a report prepared by officials from five ministries.

The five billion. per year is saved by, among other things, that there are now fewer foreigners from non-Western and more from western countries to Denmark.

The report costs immigrants and descendants from non-western countries today the Danish society 15.7 billion. per year, while immigrants and descendants from Western countries contributing to the exchequer by 2.2 billion. DKK

Both the government and the Danish People’s Party will use the conclusion from the report to further tighten the rules on foreigners.

RED CROSS: THERE’S NO HUMANITARIAN CRISIS IN GAZA

Like the Tundra Taloids has been telling its readers for a very long time now, there is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and all who are involved in trying to break the legal anti-weapons blockade of Gaza, are in essence backing the genocidal terrorist organization, Hamas, in its quest to murder Jews. But Redmatn did go on to criticize Israel for maintaining a partial embargo on certain goods, such as cement, which can and has been used by terrorist forces to build bunkers.

“Israel has the legitimate right to protect the civilian population, [but] this right should be balanced with the right of 1.5 million people living in the Gaza Strip,” said Redmatn. “…difficulties in importing building materials [has] hampered sustainable economic recovery and dashed any hope of leading a normal and dignified life.”

Israelis would argue that a territory that elects terrorists as its leaders and then facilitates the launching of thousands of missiles at a neighboring territory has forfeited the right to a “normal and dignified life.”

BOOK REVIEW BY FJORDMAN:THE HUMAN WEB: A BIRD’S-EYE VIEW OF WORLD HISTORY

The Human Web: A Bird’s-Eye View of World History from 2003 is an attempt by Robert McNeill and William H. McNeill, a father-and-son team of historians, to outline the major trends of human societies from Paleolithic times until the dawn of the twenty-first century.

The authors state that the Scientific Revolution was to have great consequences for all of mankind. Its emphasis on observation, experiment and unfettered reason – potentially subversive ideas that were often resisted by the political and religious establishment – has continued to flourish until the present day. While they agree that the creation of a network of universities was a uniquely European achievement, they also claim that “Ibn al-Shatir (died 1375) and others had challenged Ptolemy in much the same ways that Copernicus did later.”

This is not quite true. Yes, Ibn al-Shatir, working in Damascus, Syria and possibly the most gifted member of the Maragha school of astronomy, challenged certain aspects of Ptolemy’s models, especially his complex system of epicycles on top of circular orbits to account for apparent variations in the speed and direction of the motion of the planets. It has been speculated whether his ideas may indirectly have influenced Copernicus as a student in Italy.

Be that as it may, while a handful of the most talented astronomers in the Islamic-ruled world might question some of the technical details of Ptolemy’s models, none of them ever seriously questioned the notion that the Earth is the center of the universe. This was far more than a minor mathematical detail; it related to man’s place in the cosmos in very fundamental ways.

The Mongols under the leadership of Hulegu Khan (ca. 1217-1265), a grandson of the powerful Mongol conqueror Genghis Khan (ca. 1162-1227), sacked Baghdad in 1258 and ended the Abbasid Caliphate. Hulegu believed that many of his military successes were due to the advice of astronomers who were also astrologers (astrology was very important in Mongol culture) and was persuaded to found the Maragha observatory in present-day Iran by the Persian mathematician Nasir al-Din al-Tusi (1201-1274). His brother Kublai Khan (1215-1294) constructed an astronomical observatory in Yuan Dynasty (Mongol-ruled) China.

Some have claimed that scientific advances in the Islamic world were halted by the Mongol conquests. This is historically inaccurate. The conquests affected Syria, Egypt, North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula rather little, yet these regions didn’t make any more progress than did the Islamic East. Besides, science had already stagnated in many fields prior to this. In astronomy, achievements peaked after the conquests, and partly with Mongol encouragement.

NORWAY: MUSLIM TAXI DRIVERS REFUSED ELDERLY JEWS RIDE TO SYNAGOGUE

This story comes to the Tundra Tabloids via the NIJ blog, concerning a 15 year old school girl’s op-ed published in the Norwegian newspaper Aftensposten. She describes the anti-Semitism in the school she attends where she is repeatedly, and rather openly referred to as “the Jew” or “fucking Jew” by her fellow students, as well as an incident in which her elderly relatives were refused a ride by a couple of Muslim taxi drivers because they were heading to a synagogue.

Norway is a petri dish of vile, outlandish anti-Semitic behavior and bitterly irrational anti-Israel hatred. They keep denying that it exists, all the while it rages around them. Please forward this far and wide, and special thanks to the NIJ blog for forwarding this to me. KGS

Quite seriously, when will this hatred end?

I am very tired of comments like “fucking Jew” and “end to Jews.” When I told my grandmother that someone said such things to me in school, she was beside himself. I almost thought she would faint. Little did she know how much Jew hatred in Norway has evolved.

“Jew!” Is a frequently used term of abuse. Not only to Jews but to everyone and everything. “Jew,” if you get bad on a test. “Jew,” if you fall short of the goal in soccer.

The other day I was in a Bar Mitzva (comparable to a Christian confirmation), and relatives from several countries came to celebrate. My grandmother’s siblings were too weak to go to synagogue. They went to a taxi and the driver asked where they were going. The man came from the Middle East, and would not take them to the synagogue. They were bewildered, but went to the next taxi. The same thing happened. This is unbelievable!

Little did she know how much Jew hatred in Norway has evolved.

I’m not Jewish, but my dad is. What’s the point of constantly asking me “isn’t your father a Jew?”. Several times I found excuses to go home early from school, because I can not bear to cry in front of others.

One time I did my homework together with two friends. She said “Jew,” one to the other, and she other said “hush, Xxx is sitting here. ” When she answered first, “It does not matter, she knows that I use Jew as an insult.” To those of you that use the Jew, negro, paki, whore, gay, etc. as an insult: Please end it! Believe it or not, people get hurt.

Salafist Muslims in Gaza have kidnapped Vittorio Arrigoni, an Italian member of the anti-Israel International Solidarity Movement (ISM), Bethlehem-based Ma’an News reported Thursday.

The kidnappers belong to A-Tawheed wal Jihad, a terror group of the Salafist Muslim stream. They have released a video showing Arrigoni bruised, tied and blindfolded, and text scrolling across the screen “threatens that he will die unless Hamas releases Salafist prisoners by 5 p.m. Friday.”

The organization wants Hamas to release all of the members of their organization who are currently jailed. Topping the list is a senior member of the group, Hisham al-Sa’adi.

Sources in Gaza told Voice of Israel state-run radio that Arrigoni has been living in Gaza for several years after arriving there on one of the Free Gaza boats.

Arrigoni writes a blog for for Guerrilla Radio and for communist newspaper Il Manifesto. During Israel’s Cast Lead counter terrorist offensive in Gaza, he wrote: “Israel has every right to laugh and sing, even while it massacres its neighbor. Palestinians are only asking to die a different death, one of old age.”

NORWEGIAN DEFENCE LEAGUE DRAWS 10 AGAINST 700 COUNTER PROTESTORS

It’s a start.

For 10 people to gather in public in a country where extremist Leftism has run amok for generations is an accomplishment all by itself. The thuggish “anti-fascist” mob (read = against anyone rejecting herd mentality) cannot tolerate independent thinking and freedom of discourse, and they’ll make their disapproval known with both fists and rocks.

The Norwegian Defence League kicked of its first ever public demo, with only a handful of people showing up. It shouldn’t come as a surprise, seeing that 700-1000 Leftist drones showed up to defend Islam and it’s totalitarian sharia. Here are a few pics from the Dagbladet, H/T Fjordman.

This weekend, asked Culture in Stockholm about a dance performance after a debate on Facebook criticized some of the content.

Celebration of woman hood is a two-day dance festival with workshops, discussions and performances, organized by föreiningen Freshest at Kulturhuset. Some of the show, which danced to a prayer from the Koran set to music, attracted attention during the rehearsal and a discussion took place on Facebook.

Street Dance performance “Celebration of woman hood” was listed as a cultural center in the Swedish capital, and had already been played several times. But one of the spectators at Saturday’s performance was so upset over the use of Koranic quotations in the play, he went home and did what any angry young people today: he started a discussion on Facebook. The debate got good response from the viewer’s friends, and many thought that this had gotten way out of line. Some were probably also with threats of violence.

The day after Kulturhuset knew about the Facebook thread, but instead of removing the quote from the play, they chose as well to cancel the show.

Women’s boxing champ shot by stepfather

World champion German boxer Rola El-Halabi is unlikely ever to fight again after she was shot repeatedly by her stepfather in her dressing room before a bout on Friday night.

Roy El-Halabi, who was also his stepdaughter’s manager until she sacked him in January, burst into the champ’s dressing room at the Berliner Trabrennbahn and shot her in the right hand, the left knee and both feet, news reports said.

The shooting happened just minutes before Rola El-Halabi was to fight for her third world title. She had sacked her stepfather as her manager in January after the pair fell out over the boxer’s new boyfriend.

She was warming up, her boxing gloves already on, just 10 minutes before her bout against Bosnian Irma Adler, when her stepfather burst into the room. Roy El-Halabi also shot two guards, both of whom are recovering in hospital.

The boxer had five operations over the weekend. Her promoter, Malte Müller-Michaelis told sports news wire SID: “Her operation went smoothly, but the shots were intended to end her career and it seems almost certain that that will happen.”

Canadian professor probed for dancing for students

24/7: A Saudi university is investigating a Canadian professor after he was caught on video dancing to his students during class, a newspaper said on Monday.

A student filmed the professor while dancing and publicized it online, where he was seen swaying to Rap music in class at the university in the central province of Qasseem, Sabq Arabic language daily said.

“The university’s management has opened investigation into the incident after it saw the film showing the Canadian professor swaying to Rap music from his mobile phone,” it said.
