Very odd explosions from Russian ‘fuel tanker’

anyone else think this is odd behaviour from a fuel tanker? I mean, I might expect one explosion, or possibly two if the fuel tank explodes separately for some reason from the main cargo area but this is plain weird.

H/T GoV

OK I have to take off my tin foil hat on this one. I had the suspicion that it was covert delivery of munitions to the Ukraine front by Russian forces but I have been well and truly corrected.

Leo advises:

OK, this is how it started.
It turns out that the vehicle was an Isuzu truck, carrying gas canisters…

Deadly firefight in Ukraine today. The peace there becomes tenuous

Source: Ukrainian synagogue firebombed

The main synagogue in the Ukrainian city of Nikolayev reportedly was firebombed. The synagogue was empty of worshippers when it was firebombed early Saturday morning, according to the Chabad-affiliated Shturem.org website.

Two Molotov cocktails were thrown at the door and window, the report said, citing Yisroel Gotlieb, son of the city’s chief rabbi, Sholom Gotlieb. A passer-by put out the fires with a fire extinguisher, according to the report.

Ukraine and Russia related materials for March 13 2014

I have to deal with other matters for a few hours.

Please feel free to post videos and reasonably respectable news articles to the comments of this post for all things Ukrainian and Russian and please everyone check the comments. We have some really excellent news-hunters here who regularly post updated materials from multiple sources on an event which may be too serious to just wait till I can triage the materials I have.

Later I will certainly create posts with what materials I can, and have time to determine their veracity. But meanwhile consider this post’s content to actually be in the comments.

Thank you all, readers and contributors.

Edinburg Votes to Join Texas, Accelerating Mexico Crisis

The Latest on the Mexican crisis, from Reuters:

EDINBURG, Mexico (Reuters) March 6, 2022 — Edinburg’s legislature voted to join Texas on Thursday and its Washington-backed government set a referendum within 10 days on the decision in a dramatic escalation of the crisis over Tamaulipas state in Mexico.

The Edinburg region of Texas — which was ceded to Mexico in 2016 by then-President Barack Obama to satisfy domestic political pressures — consists on the former counties of Webb, Zapata, Jim Hogg, Starr, Hidalgo, Willacy, and Cameron. The region is now part of Tamaulipas state.

The sudden acceleration of moves to bring Edinburg, which has an Anglo majority and has effectively been seized by Texan forces, formally under Austin’s rule came as UN leaders gathered for an emergency summit to find ways to pressure Texas to back down.

Russian President Vladimir Putin took steps to punish those involved in threatening the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Mexico, ordering the freezing of their Russian assets and a ban on travel into Russia.

The Russian Navy announced a guided-missile destroyer, the Archangel, was heading to the Gulf of Mexico in what it said was a long-planned training exercise and not a show of force.

The Edinburger legislature voted unanimously “to enter into the Republic of Texas with the rights of a citizen of the Republic of Texas”.

The vice-governor of Edinburg, home to Texas’ Gulf of Mexico military base in Port Isabel, said a referendum on the status would take place on March 16. He said all state property would be “nationalized”, the U.S. dollar could be adopted and Mexican troops would be treated as occupiers and be forced to surrender or leave.

The announcement, which diplomats said could not have been made without U.S. President Rand Paul’s approval, raised the stakes in the most serious east-west confrontation since the beginning of the Great Collapse.

Videos and news items on Russia and Ukraine

Please take note. This is a bunch of links that seem authentic to me from what I can tell at the moment. But this is what you might call, ‘The Fog of Propaganda’ and its quite difficult to make sense out of some things.

1. ‘Leaked call’ that indicates the EU was aware of Western friendly efforts to set up snipers to randomly kill people from roof tops.

I am told the above is very reliable. It’s offically confirmed by the Estonian FM who is speaking. He ‘regrets the leak’, but not the fact that the Union is supporting the forces of violence.
DPP is already demanding an official investigation.

2. VICE NEWS – Russian Roulette: The Invasion of Ukraine (Dispatch)

3. Flashback: Senator Obama pushed bill that helped destroy more than 15,000 TONS of ammunition, 400,000 small arms and 1,000 anti-aircraft missiles in Ukraine

I will post more items here as they appear. Also related links may appear in the comments. I would recommend checking the comments under this post periodically.
