The main synagogue in the Ukrainian city of Nikolayev reportedly was firebombed. The synagogue was empty of worshippers when it was firebombed early Saturday morning, according to the Chabad-affiliated website.

Two Molotov cocktails were thrown at the door and window, the report said, citing Yisroel Gotlieb, son of the city’s chief rabbi, Sholom Gotlieb. A passer-by put out the fires with a fire extinguisher, according to the report.

  1. Air Strikes Kill 25 Suspected al Qaeda Militants in Yemen (nbcnews, Apr 20, 2014)

“Air strikes in southern Yemen killed about 25 suspected al Qaeda members on Sunday, local tribal sources said, in the second operation of its kind within two days.

On Saturday an air strike killed 10 al Qaeda militants and three civilians in central Yemen, a country that neighbors top oil exporter Saudi Arabia and is home to al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), one of the group’s most lethal wings.

The defense ministry said Sunday’s strikes targeted a remote mountainous region of the south. Its website quoted an official source on the High Security Committee as saying that they were based on information that “terrorist elements were planning to target vital civilian and military installations.”

Similar wording was used to justify Saturday’s strike, in which three nearby civilians were also killed.

The defense ministry did not specify the nature of the air strikes, but in both cases local sources said unmanned drone aircraft had been circulating the target areas beforehand.

The United States acknowledges using drone strikes to target AQAP in Yemen, but it does not comment on the practice….”

  2. Syria on track to meet April deadline for chemical weapons disposal, OPCW says (BBC, Apr 19, 2014)

“Syria has destroyed a majority of its chemical weapons material, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons said Saturday.

“The Syrian Arab Republic has removed or destroyed in-country approximately 80 percent of its chemical weapons material,” according to the OPCW Executive Council.

The OPCW also said Saturday that the regime of embattled Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is now on track to complete the disposal of the country’s chemical weapons in the next few days. If that happens, Syria would meet the deadline set by the OPCW for the destruction of the weapons before the end of April.

“The renewed pace in movements is positive and necessary to ensure progress towards a tight deadline,” said Sigrid Kaag, special coordinator of the OPCW-U.N. Joint Mission in Damascus…”

  3. World War III is under way, it really started in the 70s under Jimmy Carter and the Embassy takeover but most people will ignore that and the attacks by the Moslems since and concentrate on Ukraine and the Russian attack.
