The findings of a UN probe into Israel’s deadly raid on a 2010 flotilla to Gaza, which were leaked to The New York Times Thursday, have further raised tensions between Israel and Turkey, and senior Foreign Ministry officials warned that Turkey could respond to the report’s publication by expelling the Israeli ambassador and scaling back diplomatic relations.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Thursday that Friday’s official release of the Palmer Report constitutes Israel’s last chance to apologize for its raid on the Turkish-sponsored flotilla and warned of consequences, including sanctions, should Israel continue to refuse to apologize.

Unless there is an Israeli apology, “we will put Plan B into play,” Davutoglu said in a joint interview to the Thursday’s Zaman and Hurriyet dailies. He said Turkey intended to impose sanctions, “which both Israel and other international parties are aware of.”

Referring to Israel’s request for another delay in the report’s publication, he said that Ankara “cannot accept another six-month extension.” Continue Reading →

Ahmadinejad’s two-stage solution

From The Jerusalem Post’s blog, ‘Warped Mirror’

On the occasion of the Khomeini-invented “Qods Day” last Friday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad unsurprisingly declared that international recognition of a Palestinian state should only be regarded as a first step because the “ultimate goal” was “the liberation of the whole of Palestine.”

Of course, Ahmadinejad also threw in some expressions of his trademark Jew-hatred, describing Israel as “a center of microbes” and “a cancer cell” that shouldn’t be allowed to exist in even “one iota of Palestine.”

Given this rhetoric, the Palestinian leadership apparently felt the need to quickly react to Ahmadinejad’s statement. Palestinian Authority (PA) spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh promptly declared that Ahmadinejad’s “words do not help anyone except the Israeli right who are against our bid at the UN, and put in doubt our intentions and obligations to a two state solution based on the 1967 borders.”

The remark that Ahmadinejad’s words “do not help anyone except the Israeli right” is perhaps a reference to Bennie Begin’s eloquent warning that the Palestinians are not really interested in a two-state solution, but rather in a “two-stage solution” of the kind described by Ahmadinejad.

However, Israeli opposition to Palestinian efforts to get UN recognition for a state without any commitment to peace is hardly limited to the right; likewise, it’s not just the Israeli right that has grave doubts about Palestinian intentions – and for good reason.

Turkish Teflon

An article written by ‘J-Practical’ for Vladtepes blog

According to Reuters, Turkey’s armed forces said on Monday that some 145-160 Kurdish guerrillas were killed in Turkish air and artillery strikes in northern Iraq this month. (http://uk.reuters.com/article/2011/08/29/uk-turkey-iraq-idUKTRE77S31620110829)

So why is Turkey bombing Kurds in Northern Iraq? After all, like the Turks, most Kurds are Sunni Muslims, fellow members of the Religion of Peace, and they’re neighbours of Turkey, living in a semi-autonomous region under limited self rule – so you’d think Turkey would make an effort to live in peace with them.

Actually, the peace is being broken by the Kurdish PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party), a terrorist organization recognized by Turkey, the United States and the European Union. Recently PKK assaults in Turkey have killed more than 40 Turkish security force personnel.

Turkey is simply defending itself from terrorists, which is why the Turkish airforce sent warplanes to bomb Kurdish towns which the Turkish intelligence say contain PKK bases and arms depots. As it happens regularly in such bombings, seven civilians were killed a week ago, though the Turkish General Staff said more than 100 PKK militants were also wounded.

Now, let’s see if this makes sense to you, because I’m scratching my head: Continue Reading →

Ezra Levant on ‘Al Quds day’ in Toronto

This is interesting. I wonder what it is Ezra heard but he can’t repeat. In any case, Michael Coren also covered this event and I should have that video (knock on a trillion electrons) later this evening.

Thanks to Blazing Cat fur, here is an edited version of the ‘Al Quds’ demo and here is a link to a longer version, BTW, neither of which I have watched yet.

Anti-Israel protests disrupt BBC Proms concert

**** UPDATE****

Shirl from Oz sent me a link to video of these babies. The good news is, people with an education and appreciation for excellence flatly rejected and called the BDS primitives out and flatly rejected what they were doing. Thanks Shirl. Here is the description from the page where the video lives.

“The Audience at the Royal Albert Hall express their disgust as anti-Israel yobs disrupt Prom 62 featuring the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.

The mood in the hall was one of total disapproval of these idiots ruining everyone else’s evening.

The IPO was given a huge standing ovation at the end, and the love in the room for them was immense.”

Pro-Palestinian group protest outside the Royal Albert Hall A group of about 20 people had gathered outside the hall to protest the appearance of the orchestra

Protesters have disrupted a BBC Proms concert by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

The soloist, Gil Shaham, was about to play Bruch’s violin concerto conducted by Zubin Mehta when some people in the audience began booing and shouting.

BBC Radio 3 interrupted its live broadcast twice before returning later.

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign had earlier called on people to boycott the concert and urged the BBC to cancel it.

The pro-Palestinian group claimed that the IPO showed “complicity in whitewashing Israel’s persistent violations of international law and human rights”. Continue Reading →

ISRAEL SENDS TWO WARSHIPS TO EGYPTIAN BORDER DURING HEIGHTENED ALERT

Israel is not taking any chances, nor should they. KGS

Report: Israel sends 2 warships to Egyptian border

Military sources tell AP Israeli Navy sent additional warships to maritime border with Egypt following intelligence indicating viable terror threat. Meanwhile, Iran set to send 15th fleet to area as well as ‘to thwart pirate activity’

The Israeli Navy (INF) has decided to boost its presence and patrols near Israel’s maritime border with Egypt due to a viable terror threat in the area.

Israeli security sources told the Associated Press on Monday that two additional warships have been dispatched to Israel’s Red Sea border with Egypt. Another source stressed that the operation was routine, telling Reuters that “two naval craft have been sent to the Red Sea. This is not unusual.”

Gazanian terrorists promise more slaughter, Israel demonstrates Iron Dome

Various terrorist groups promise more terror.

I know it is obvious but we live in a peculiar age where the obvious gets overlooked, ignored and mocked to make room for the obviously wrong. I feel it is worth pointing out, if Gaza etc. had Israel’s weaponry, they would not be developing super high tech weapons to defend against weapons of terror that harm no one. They would destroy Israel and all near it to satisfy the Islamic ideology that calls for it. Meanwhile, Israel does this:

Egyptians plan million-man rally against Israel

From YNET News:

Facebook groups call for mass protest outside Israeli embassy in Cairo, as protesters demand ambassador be expelled, embassy be closed

Roee Nahmias

Egyptian daily al-Youm al-Saba’a reported Wednesday that Egyptian citizens have created groups on Facebook and other social networks calling for “a million-man protest” outside the Israeli embassy in Cairo on Friday.

The protesters say the focus of the demonstration will be the demand to have the Israeli ambassador expelled from Egypt and Israel’s embassy in the capital closed.

  •

The incident on the border stirred a diplomatic crisis between Jerusalem and Cairo. Egypt’s cabinet said on Sunday that an Israeli statement expressing regret for the border deaths was not enough, but it stopped short of saying if it would recall its Tel Aviv envoy.

The embassy protesters are demanding that the peace treaty with Israel be altered, especially with regards to military presence in Sinai, or completely abolished.
