Muslim Brotherhood Wants War With Israel
Has even one person in the media stopped to ask a leftist or a Muslim leader why any group or organization would actually desire war with a neighbouring country? How anyone can consider that policy to be healthy or just or acceptable?

From Forexcrunch.com:
Mohamed Ghanem, one of the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, calls Egypt to stop pumping gas to Israel and prepare the Egyptian army for a war with it’s eastern neighbor.
Speaking with Iranian television station Al-Alam, Mohamed Ghanem blamed Israel for supporting Hosni Mubarak’s regime. Ghanem also said that the Egyptian police and army won’t be able to stop the Muslim Brotherhood movement.
There are doubts about the loyalty of the Egyptian army to president Mubarak. If the brotherhood takes control over Egypt, it will be very messy from the whole region.
In the meantime, EUR/USD , GBP/USD other pairs have enjoyed the relative calm in the Egyptian crisis and regained most of their losses on Friday. An escalation will send them down, and will strengthen the dollar, yen and Swiss franc.

Things in Egypt are souring fast
Check this out from SKY News:
Alex Crawford, in Alexandria, Egypt
Soldiers have been firing rounds from a heavy artillery gun into the air amid angry scenes in the Egyptian city of Alexandria as protests intensify across the country.
It happened moments after a Sky News reporting team was confronted by a group of protesters outside a hotel.
A volley of shots was fired from an armoured army vehicle in the direction of the Mediterranean sea as a group of dozens of demonstrators gathered outside the building.
Protests have been taking place in the city as part of nationwide demonstrations against the 30-year-rule of President Hosni Mubarak.
The scenes have been largely peaceful in the past 24 hours, but tensions would appear to be mounting in Alexandria.
Military vehicles began rolling into the “old town” overnight, where the demonstrations have centred.

STRATFOR: ~34 MB members walked out of jail
January 30, 2011
Around 34 members of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB), including leaders Essam el-Aryan and Saad el-Katatni, walked out of Wadi Natrun prison north of Cairo unhindered Jan. 30 after guards abandoned their posts during anti-government protests, a lawyer for one of the escapees said in an interview with AFP, Reuters reported. The escapees had been arrested Jan. 27 for their participation in the protests. A security source told AFP that several thousand inmates overwhelmed the guards during the night of Jan. 29. However, MB leader Mohammed Mursi told Al Jazeera that the members of his group did not escape as the doors of the prison were opened by the residents.

The American Embassy in Cairo helped a young dissident attend a US-sponsored summit for activists in New York, while working to keep his identity secret from Egyptian state police.
On his return to Cairo in December 2008, the activist told US diplomats that an alliance of opposition groups had drawn up a plan to overthrow President Hosni Mubarak and install a democratic government in 2011.

He has already been arrested by Egyptian security in connection with the demonstrations and his identity is being protected by The Daily Telegraph.
The crisis in Egypt follows the toppling of Tunisian president Zine al-Abedine Ben Ali, who fled the country after widespread protests forced him from office.
URGENT: Egypt – Israel report STRATFOR
The following is a report from a STRATFOR source in Hamas. Hamas, which formed in Gaza as an outgrowth of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood (MB), has an interest in exaggerating its role and coordination with the MB in this crisis. The following information has not been confirmed. Nonetheless, there is a great deal of concern building in Israel and the United States in particular over the role of the MB in the demonstrations and whether a political opening will be made for the Islamist organization in Egypt.

The Egypt Unrest
The Egyptian police are no longer patrolling the Rafah border crossing into Gaza. Hamas armed men are entering into Egypt and are closely collaborating with the MB. The MB has fully engaged itself in the demonstrations, and they are unsatisfied with the dismissal of the Cabinet. They are insisting on a new Cabinet that does not include members of the ruling National Democratic Party.
Security forces in plainclothes are engaged in destroying public property in order to give the impression that many protesters represent a public menace. The MB is meanwhile forming people’s committees to protect public property and also to coordinate demonstrators’ activities, including supplying them with food, beverages and first aid.

Egypt: Military, Police Deployed In Suez – STRATFOR Source
January 27, 2011
The Egyptian military has been deployed to Suez and is patrolling the city alongside police, a STRATFOR source said Jan. 27.
I can’t speak specifically to Egypt, but typically, in a democracy or even a nation loosely modelled on one, the military has a clear role distinct from police. When a nation deploys its military on it’s own citizens, it means a great deal about the state of the government. Typically it is critical that the military never sees it’s own people as something against which, it operates.
Egypt: Protesters Fire RPGs At Police Stations
January 27, 2011
Bedouin protesters in Egypt fired two rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) at a police station in the Sinai Peninsula town of Sheikh Zuweid, AFP reported Jan. 28. One of the rockets hit empty space at the station, while the other missed and hit a nearby medical center. No casualties were immediately reported. Protesters also fired an RPG at another police station outside the town, setting it on fire. The attacks came hours after police shot and killed a protester

‘RPGs fired at police station in Egypt’
Smoke rises from objects being burnt to form a roadblock as people react after a protester was shot in the head while demonstrating in the town of Sheikh Zuweid, 344 km (214 miles) northeast of Cairo, January 27, 2011.Hours after Egyptian police shot dead an anti-government activist, protesters have retaliated by firing three rockets, but there are no reports on any casualties, security officials said. The first rocket, which was fired at a police station in the northern Sinai town of Sheikh Zuweid, missed its target and hit a nearby medical center, officials said.
The second rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) landed in an empty space, while the third hit a police station three kilometers (two miles) from the town, setting it on fire. The checkpoint had been evacuated earlier in the day.
No casualty has been reported from the rocket attacks.
With two new deaths on Thursday, the third day of the ongoing violence, the death toll has reached seven, AFP reported.
The anti-government protesters nationwide are demanding democracy, the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak who has ruled the country for some 30 years, and more employment opportunities.
The protesters in the Sinai were Bedouin, some of whom are heavily armed, and complain of government discrimination.
Clashes broke out in Sheikh Zuwaid earlier Thursday after witnesses and relatives said a youth died when he was shot in the head by police.
New protests continued to pop up across the country, with the most recent reported late Thursday on Haram Street, one of Cairo’s main avenues.
It was the first time there had been protests in this area, one of Cairo’s poorer neighborhoods. Security forces tried to rush to the area, but were confounded in their attempts as the protesters moved to block traffic.
